Bale - Hero or Villain? Regardless of if he stays or goes, how do people feel about him currently?
Villian - wants away from Spurs, holidays in Spain, no commitment, no comments direct to the press, go and hope you fail etc.
or
Hero - Everything he has done before - especially his goals last year, the fact HE has not said anything offically to the press, go with our thanks or stay and make the team better.

For me, he's far more hero than vilian and it just seems like the press making up story after story about how he feels adn what he's thinking yet with zero fact. RM have been naughty, realised they were over the top and have stepped back up until the shirt issue and the podium. Levy etc just said 'not for sale - unless silly money' (not a quote!), as they clearly would rather he stayed.

All seems like a farse. Suarez saga went quiet once Liverpool made it clear he would stay and Arsenal put in that stupid bid - wonder if RM have caused the same effect but the press just can't leave it?

Any thoughts or should we just concentrate on any new players we would love to see?

1.) Hero gave his all last season, common knowledge in his home town that he'd talked of his dream of playing for Madrid, deserves to just hope ego's in that team don't turn it into a nightmare

2.) Should be hero, but now! I will always be grateful for what he did as a player, and for what his fee has allowed us to do, but he has turned into a pompous arse . Not taking into account what the papers are saying at all because most of its crap, Bale is still a let down and shouldn't be classed as a Tottenham great! His contract is with Spurs, and he is well paid for that . To not turn up at a game, whether due to play or not, is not on . He should have been there to support his fellow team members, and the fans, who have stuck by him through good times and bad! Yes, persist with your transfer, best of luck with that, but don't s**t on your supporters like you have!
Never been a Rooney lover but is this how he reacted? Once again, a player worshipped by youngsters all over acts like a spoilt brat because he can't get what he wants when he wants, a brilliant example to our young sports stars! People who know him go on about him being a nice quiet easy going person, well it certainly looks a lot different now . Still he will go, pick up his large wages, his percentage of a transfer fee he doesn't deserve, and then he will probably get paid by a newspaper for his story about how upset he is about it ending like this, how he had to keep quiet about it all, and all the sob stories you can think of . Me, I couldn't give a toss!

3.) Bit of both I feel . I think he could have waited one more season and with him in this team we would have been very serious contenders for the top spot . Good luck to the guy but part of me will wonder why he had to go now .
Spursmad Dave .

Good news yes, but are we running the risk of selling off all our 'home grown' players and having smaller squads in various competitions? Is that why we might go in for players like Deeny?

No and No! I think that Paulinho will get better and better as he settles and is already a good solid MF'er. Don't think he has done much wrong so far. Sandro also offers much in the MF area and is important part of the team/squad. As for Dembele - he's never played himself into the Spurs team. From what he was doing a Fulham to now, he seems to have gone backwards so I think that the new signings are all ahead of him and he'll struggle for a place. Might change if people don't gel so the next 3-5 games will see what our strongest side really is this year.

Glass half full or half empty?
Net spend this window I believe actually puts about £2.5M in Levy's pocket! Plus the TV money etc means there is a big profit already in terms of hard cash. Certainly a good year for investers one would expect. Maybe even more could have therefore been spent on players, but 7 is already a lot and they are all better than current it seems (as Bale has gone). So, its all good business and if it works, it is also all good for Spurs. We might have wanted more, but 2 months ago would have dreamed happily of less. Proof of the pudding is in the eating so we need to just let the team come together for a few weeks and can really only judge the success later in the season. It will all be about games won, points got and silverware - everything else is just numbers! What I really hope is that Levy, who has netted a profit in 4 of the last 5 seasons through transfers, will take all the money and invest in the club and the new stadium. We don't want to have 10 years of no transfers while we try and pay for it, we want to take hard fought capital and invest it for the long term. I am sure Levy is doing that with some of the players he has brought in - hoping to make money to then re-invest - but he knows success is what brings the most rewards so I am suer he wants this team to go out and win. I am behind the logic and behind the team - COYS!

Spot on Wulf. Bale saying nothing is the best thing to do. He knows he likes the idea of RM and I am sure Spurs management know the situation. Just 'cos we are fans does not give us a devine right to know the full depth of what's really happening and I would rather a player was told to take gardening leave (ie to to Spain for a week) and leave the money men to talk. If a deal happens Bale lands us a fortune, if not, we have Bale. At that point he can come and and say what he likes as can Levy etc about what actually happened.
Love the fact that its all being made up by the press currently as no one but those behind the closed doors knows the truth.
