Ed could you tell me more about a player image rights? I was reading about how Madrid own Bale's image rights and pay him some percent of earning from it ( which might be spurious which is why I want to know more) .

{Ed002's Note - The image rights work very specifically at Real Madrid. You sign and you give up 50% of your image rights to the club. There might be a little negotiation, but that is effectively it. Additionally, Real Madrid are one of a few clubs that have negotiated different deals with their kit manufacturer (Adidas in their case) that sees a share of shirt sales proceeds rather than a lump some payment. It is also worth noting that there are significant sales contributing to the costs of players, they are the club with the largest world-wide income and there are some slightly messy "politics" associated with the Spanish game still. In terms of other clubs image rights are more in the control of players and they get small payments when the club uses their image. A few players earn very significant amounts from image rights (Ronaldo being the extreme example I guess); a few clubs have allowed them to have their shorts pulled down in respect of specific image rights deals (Liverpool is a good example here); a few players have used their image rights to effectively extort money from clubs and country (Mo Salah is one example); generally everyone treads carefully in reagrds image rights as there have been significant tax issues in Spain and particularly in England where clubs had been paying image rights money in to trusts (EBTs) that upset the Inland Revenue and all EPL sides had to come clean and negotiate a solution with them; and Arsenal and Chelsea settled a separate matter related to the payment of money related to the image rights of Ashley Cole which was more complex as he had represented both sides.}

Thanks for the reply Ed! That comprehensive comment was very educational! Much appreciated!

18 May 2018 13:03:38
Just heard that we have had a bid rejected for Bryan Christante.

Agree6 0Disagree

18 May 2018 14:22:28
Christante as in Italian Atlanta? Not a bad player but wouldn’t have seen him as a Poch player. Got a good pass and some decent free kicks but shrugged off the ball too easily. At least from what I’ve seen of him. Could make a good squad player but can’t see him replacing first team.

15 May 2018 10:04:14
Now we have the season out the way, what are people's thoughts on transfers in and out?

Agree0 0Disagree

15 May 2018 13:24:09
Looks like Toby, sissoko, dembele, lliornte and rose on the way out.
I think Zaha would be a good signing for spurs and arnautovic.

15 May 2018 21:43:22
That's what the media are speculating Leahy. I don't think Toby or Dembele will go. 🙏.

17 May 2018 19:06:09
I see them both going but then surely money will be made available to replace two of your better players (on their day) if the money’s good enough I wouldn’t see t as a bad thing, did wel this season without them playing too much.

14 May 2018 12:56:32
Could poch leave? Or is he just trying to get some actual money to spend on players.

Agree0 1Disagree

14 May 2018 14:43:54
He is being a bit demanding. Spurs have achieved a lot in the last 4 years, by prudent spending. Poch is risking that and his relationship with Levy by appearing to whine about needing more money to spend.
Poch knows that spending money is always going to appeal to fans, even though that it guarantees nothing.
Hopefully, Levy will put him back in his place.

14 May 2018 14:50:31
Has Poch not signed anyone since he came to Spurs?

15 May 2018 10:08:29
We have had an amazing journey over the last few years. We have the best stadium in the country built for next year, and have some of the brightest stars in football.,

Poch is merely saying his job is done if Top 4 is the ambition of the club. We have consolidated this position and in order to keep the players together and push on, investment is required.

If you are Toby, Karry Kane or Eriksen then you are ambitiously dreaming of trophies. They could go literally anywhere in the world and win, so Levy needs to decide if top 4 is our focus or silverware. All Poch is saying is you don’t need him and we will lose our stars if we want to run with this dream without silverware.

Everyone can see we are a couple of players short of challenging, but we need to attract the world class players now if we are to kick on that last phase.

Lloris, Vertonghen, Wanyama, Eriksen and Kane are world class in those positions, but we need players to challenge around the edges. Vorm needs to go and we should get Butland to understudy Lloris. Sessegnon at LB is key to our success and Rose needs to go. Toby wants to leave so get Van de Ligt and Mawson as cover. KWP is grow No fast so RB looks full of promise. We need a proper CM with Dembele looking likely to leave, and Kovacic should be our focus as he is sensational. As much as I love Lamela and Son they are squad players of a really top club. We need a Raheem Sterling pact winger both sides, perhaps Zaha can show his class if he steps up at Spurs. Janssen and Llorente are Simply not good enough and we have to go get Dembele from Cletic or someone who can really deputise for Kane without stuttering.

The future looks amazing and it is time we fans backed Poch and his vision and believed in Levy who looks set to play his finest hour this transfer window.

15 May 2018 21:57:24
Before I got to the bottom I knew this had to be Oracle.

15 May 2018 21:45:31
For once Oracle, I agree with you 😉.

22 May 2018 18:39:07
So things are starting to look interesting. Butland, Sessegnon, De Ligt, Kovacic, Zaha, Rashford and Bale all linked.

Sell Vorm, Alderweireld, Rose, Dembele, Janssen, Sissoko and Llorente and this can come true!

11 May 2018 17:06:15
Spurs are in talks with Yaya Toure's people.

11 May 2018 17:59:09
Hey Ellis, your typos are scaring people. Watch what you type man.

12 May 2018 15:37:15
I think you're lost, 23.

12 May 2018 22:33:39
Ellis, this cannopt be Toby's replacement!

13 May 2018 12:41:00
Haha Dawj. In talks doesn't mean we will get him, just that talks have taken place. Personally i think he would be a great signing for us even if its just for 1 or 2 seasons.

13 May 2018 12:49:14
Classic Ellis lol.

13 May 2018 18:52:26
Congratulations on your away win Gunnerbod. Never thought you guys had it in you.

22 May 2018 18:40:59
Gunnerbod time you went and trolled your competition. Fulham, Crystal Palace and West Ham sites need some humour. no run along good boy!

28 Apr 2018 23:13:14
Ok, so lots of rumours about who is going and who is coming and so forth, well for my money, no one in the current first team should need to go. The boss/ board did his/ their sums for this and next season including the costs of the new stadium. Yes we should, like all teams remove some deadwood, but wholesale changes are not (IMHO) required.
We need a strong finish to the end of a very long season and look forward to European Football again next season.
COYS.

hi ed. Noticed on some other pages you've been shedding some light on interest of players. Wondering if you could give give js in or out activity interet/ acfivity at spurs

Hopefully get some more readers on the site.

{Ed002's Note - Sure. It is tough to understand what money will be available and it looks like, with one exception, a summer of a few replacements:
Out Perhaps:
Toby Alderweireld (CB)
Danny Rose (LB)
Mousa Dembele (M)
Erik Lamela (RW)
Fernando Llorente (S)

Being looked at:
Ryan Sessegnon (LB) - looks unlikely at this time
Layvin Kurzawa (LB) - will be available at a good price, and Spurs are very keen
Jonny Evans (CB) - I expect Spurs will push for a deal
Jonathan Tah (CB) - it looks unlikely
Abdoulaye Doucoure (M) - seen as a suitable replacement for Dembele
Mateo Kovacic (M) - I am not sure that Spurs would continue to look at Kovacic should another right winger arrive - although he could be seen as a more versatile option to Lamela whereas the RWs being looked at are more traditional and would need to vie with Lucas Moura for a place.
Andrija Zivkovic (AM) - another versatile alternative to Lamela - but there is interest from elsewhere and price could be a major issue
James Maddison (AM) - the player should think very carefully if he is looking to move to the PL, and Leicester will give him playing time that Spurs may struggle to do, but very much a MP type of player
Wilfried Zaha (RW) - there is long-term interest and Spurs could again return.
Suso (RW) - seems unlikely, but they have looked at Suso.
Malcom (RW) - He has been looked at and is available.
Gareth Bale (F) - Will be offered to Manchester United and most definately for sale. Concerns will be over fitbness and price but Real Madrid would be open to a deal involving Toby Alderweireld - and It is the sort of thing that Spurs may look to do to placate the fans in what might be a couple of tight years financially
Jann-Fiete Arp (S) - Spurs have been very keen but it looks very likely that a move elsewhere has been tentatively agreed already
Paco Alcacer (s) - Alcacer is again attracting attention but game time will be key to any move.}

Thank you Ed! Much appreciated!

{Ed002's Note - You are welcome.}

21 Apr 2018 14:41:46
Would the move for Jan Fiete Arp be to Bayern, Ed?

{Ed002's Note - They are discussing terms.}

16 Apr 2018 17:51:06
Ed 002 I'm surprised you have mentioned Man United may have to fend off a contract offer from Spurs, among other things for Toby. I thought we were well past the extention stage With Toby being frozen out!

{Ed002's Note - Ok.}

Now I can imagine there are a few frustrations with our team tonight, especially when they opt to stay on the team bus for the first half! I lay the blame for this defeat firmly at the feet of the manager. Klopp can inspire a Liverpool team no better talented than our squad, to beat City, so why not us? If we are to progress any further in the FA cup and realise 4th place, we need players to perform from the kick-off. If not and you want to play by the minute.

Just donate your wages for your 'non-committed' part of the game to a local North London charity. There are 4 games to go in the league and we need 4 wins, anything less is failure. Did we really put out our first team tonight? COYS.

Agree0 1Disagree

16 Apr 2018 00:22:04
I’d argue our team is better, but that’s not really the point, you are capable or atleast giving them a game but I was disappointed in how you guys played, you can turn up against any team yet it was like you decided you couldn’t be bothered. I think the team comaraderie isn’t quite there like it is for us at Liverpool, players wanting to leave, Harry Kane really pushing a goal from Eriksen. Then next week you’ll go smash someone and it’ll be The opposite of the performance at city.

16 Apr 2018 11:54:01
YOU have a talented bunch though and when they click, as they usually do, you’re very effective.

22 Mar 2018 17:06:36
Hello Ed’s. Any news on Toby. Something doesn’t seem right. Speculation about his departure in the summer. Have you heard of any inside information.

{Ed001's Note - if he doesn't sign the new contract he will be sold in the summer, so far he is not signing.}

Agree1 0Disagree

22 Mar 2018 18:44:43
Topman Ed001 I feel that will be a big loss if he’s sold. Not really convinced with Sanchez. I know he’s young but nevertheless he don’t seem to read the game to well.

{Ed001's Note - I do not rate Sanchez at all. Physically superb but has no defensive mindset at all and is always out of position. Relying on pace to get you out of trouble only gets you so far. Oh and he is poor on the ball, which is why part of Man Utd's tactical plan in the Europa League final was to let him have the ball. To paraphrase the great Johan Cruyff: if you let their worst player on the ball have it, it will not be long before you get it back.}

22 Mar 2018 20:39:38
toby is going nowhere trust me on that.

03 Apr 2018 12:04:14
I wouldn't be so sure on that Stevieboy.!

09 Apr 2018 09:18:42
ED very harsh on Sanchez. Did you not see him against Chelsea for example. Still young and improving, and when Kovacic joins in the summer alongside Wanyama he will have engines in front of him.

Dembele and Dier will rotate and we will have the core we need. I have heard a rumour we will sell Toby and buy De Ligt as a replacement.

11 Apr 2018 13:56:01
There we go I'm losing hope of De Ligt now.
