Ed, can you please tell us who we are targeting for CB?

{Ed002's Note - Something like this:
Clement Lenglet (CB) Another player Barcelona are keen to move on. Very patchy and inconsistent season. Value is falling away and they will move him on as soon as they can. Spurs see him as an upgrade to what they have and something may be possible. Newcastle, Roma and Everton may provide option. Wildcard would be Sevilla as a part exchange. I would keep an eye on him.
Alessandro Bastoni (CB) First choice for Barcelona, but Inter don't want to sell although €70M might be enough for Inter to part with him as they look to cut the wage bill. Bayern Munich have a declared interest and see him has an option to others as they look to add two CBs, but they know the player wants to stay in Milan. Real Madrid are keen but he is not top of their list. Spurs certainly offer an option whilst Conte and Paratici are at the club. Chelsea and Manchester United have watched him but have preferred targets. Will stay where he is for next season.
Roger Ibanez (CB) Roma purchased the player on June 30 last year at the end of his loan with the intent of selling him on - Leicester, Spurs and Porto were keen on taking the player then but nothing happened. Spurs and Roma were still discussing options and Newcastle are looking to add him. Mr Mourinho would like to keep him. A maybe.
Josko Gvardiol (CB) Opted to join RBL to replace Konate over Leeds last summer. Leeds and Newcastle have asked after him. Will not be for sale and says he wants to stay for now. My understanding is that there has not been an approach from Chelsea but he has been watched by scouts and he is on the lengthy list of CBs they will consider. Spurs and Marseille have also sent scouts to watch the player.
Sven Botman (CB) Milan and Newcastle keen and have declared and interest. Will be available and many PL clubs have been scouting Lille including West Ham who were told they would not discuss Botman. Emerging as first choice CB for Newcastle but it seems unlikely unless the player can be convinced of their project. Asking price will look to force teams to turn away. Milan were in discussions to take both Botman and Sanches from Lille but have stepped back. Agent says there have been discussions with Manchester United and Spurs as well and he expects interest from PSG and Chelsea. Newcastle will press as they continue to struggle to attract players. Will offer the player a very good deal hoping his signing paves the way for others.
Gleison Bremer (CB) Carlo Ancelotti tried to take him to Napoli and also Everton. He could try again as an "affordable" option for Real Madrid, although Torino's valuation is significant. Spurs and Milan provide good options as Spurs look to upgrade on the CBs they have and Milan fear losing Alessio Romagnoli as a Free Agent. Again, he is of interest to Inter Milan who fear losing Alessandro Bastoni in the summer and they offer perhaps the most attractive solution. Previously of interest to Leicester and Liverpool, but both opted for others. Juventus have him on a list of options should they lose de LIgt in the summer but there are certainly a couple ahead of him. Chelsea have a pressing need to add CBs with players out of contract in the summer and he is on their whittled down list which currently sits at 10. Torino will look to a new contract to end thoughts of a move but that has not stopped clubs scouting him as they expect him to be available in the summer as he has so far refused a new contract. Bayern Munich have held discussions with Torino. Expectation is that he will move to Inter.
Nikola Milenkovic (CB) Milan and Spurs have an interest in NM but Milan will need to sell to raise funds and that may be a problem. Juventus offer an option. Something could be done with Spurs but he is not their first choice. Seems unlikely.
Min Jae Kim (CB) lost out on a transfer to Spurs due to Work Permit issues previously and an approach from Napoli was rejected. Porto, Sevilla and again Napoli do both have a declared interest. May suit Everton if they can get a Work Permit. I would expect Spurs interest to have gone.
Stefan de Vrij (CB) Inter value the player at €45M and as close to 30 finding a buyer at that price will be impossible. Halve the price and Paratrici may well provide an option at Spurs but he is not first choice. Probably stay where he is with Skriniar departing.
Alessio Romagnoli (CB) Milan want a new contract but they are at odds with the player and Team Riaola over the package and a termination clause. Could give way to assure other contracts are agreed. He will have options but the interest of Barcelona has gone, as has the interest of Juventus. If he is available as a Free Agent then interest of Spurs, Fulham and Lazio may be of interest – but all would be a step down. Common sense is sign a new contract at Inter.
Reece Oxford (CB) Spurs have been scouting their ex-kiddie who is at Augsburg. Won’t happen.}

Hi Ed002,

Think you mentioned on the United site a few weeks ago there may be an offer for Kane, could you tell us who from and if it’s still likely at all?

Have a great day and keep up the good work

Thanks

Crooky.

{Ed002's Note - It is still possible that a bid will be made - but unimportant who from.}

Ed, will Spurs look for more midfield options even after adding Bissouma?

{Ed002's Note - Yes, with three certainly leaving - and just possibly a fourth - and effectively two added already, I would expect one more.}

Conte seems to be getting players he wants in pretty soon.

At least things seem to be moving in the right direction.

Perisic - signing imminent
Harry Winks - told he has no future at the club.

Ahh well, I understand. Those were incredibly comprehensive. Thanks Ed! Good time to thank all Eds for their incredible work!

With CL secured it’s safe to assume we will be linked with everyone in the media.

28 May 2022 16:30:18
Our best signing will be Conte.

17 Mar 2022 04:38:38
Hi Ed02,

You mentioned on Man City's page that Kane is an option if City's preferred targets aren't signed - but Kane may move elsewhere.

Is elsewhere Man Utd? Could you say the teams that are interested in him?

Thanks.

{Ed002's Note - Harry Kane (S) Manchester City will be back if the cannot signed either of their two preferred choices, but I suspect they can. I expect Manchester United may bite the bullet and make a significant offer, initially including a couple of players and he could move there and join up with Pochettino. Could stay if Spurs make the Champions League.}

Hi Eds, can you provide us with any updates as to what is happenin with Spurs? Adama is off to Barca, Diaz to Liverpool, and seems Kessie wants to stay in Italy too. Do Spurs have any other targets they are pursuing this window?

Also, any news on outgoings? There is talk about no PSG offer for Ndobmbele, no interest in Alli, Lo Celso, or Doherty. The hope of 3-4 transfer seems to be gone, along with massive embarassment. Thanks.

{Ed002's Note - Barcelona is a more attractive option to AT than Spurs. Porto rejected Spurs offer for LD and the player wants to move to Manchester United or Liverpool. Kessie is not interested in moving this month as it is financially better for him to move in the summer (and there are discussions going on with another side over a pre-contract but the cost is still a sticking point).

Ndombele could still potentially move, there is plenty of interest. There is interest in Dele Alli going out on loan but wages may be an issue. Lo Ceso is more likely to move in the summer. Doherty is out of contract in the summer so he may not wish to move before then - albeit the coach wants him gone.}

Thanks Ed002

Any insight into Kulusevski deal? The price sounds like an issue for option/ obligation?

Also, any insight into Morata, Bentancur, or Douglas Luiz as targets? There seems to be some fresh news around Spurs wanting them.

{Ed002's Note - Spurs want to take Kulusevski on loan. THe issue is that Juventus were expecting to sell in the summer but an injury to Chiesa is a concern in terms of cover. Morata is a cheap option for Barcelona but Juventus will want compensating if his loan ends early. Spurs have shown an interest. The player will not want to be simply cover. Spurs have not made any approach for the others that I am aware of.}

Are we still in interested in Youri Tielemans? I would love him in the summer as he only has one year left on his contract… I think he would be a way better fit than Kessie imo.

{Ed002's Note - No.}

11 Jan 2022 13:15:20
Thank for your replying! I’m guessing then Kessie is our number 1 target for the summer in the midfield?

{Ed002's Note - There is certainly interest from Spurs in Kessie amongst others.}

12 Jan 2022 06:06:42
Your having adama traore as a wing back. Hope he fails big time, because defending, he is embarrassing. Lazy. Yes gets forwards quickly, but defending, no way. Sulks to much. Spurs are making a big gaff on this player, but hey that's your choice.

11 Jan 2022 20:58:48
Sorry for bothering you again but Matt law and Aladsair Gold both said today that we’re going for a midfielder this window instead of a centre back! Any clues of who the midfielder we’re going for? I’m guessing it’s Mattias Svanberg.

{Ed002's Note - I assume they have said that thinking of the potential departures of Dele Alli and Tanguy Ndombele noting that Spurs have already made approaches to find out the availability of potential replacements. Juventus have made clear that Kulusevski will not now be available until the summer and an approach for Weston McKennie was turned away as Juventus do not want an exchange. As you suggest Mattias Svanberg is a target, and Kessie remains of interest. Isco and Lingard are potentially cheap options to replace Alli. I think others can be forgotten.}

24 Jan 2022 22:40:42
With Ndombele, Dele and Lo Celso all likely to go this weeks, surely we should be bringing in a creative midfielder? Any news on Kulusevski or someone creative?

{Ed002's Note - Something may be possible with the likes of Weston McKennie. There are discussions with another side over Dejan Kulusevski.}

26 Dec 2021 16:59:30
Players where interest has been shown:
Emiliano Martinez (G) Aston Villa will resist a sale but Spurs see Martinez as a Lloris replacement and West Ham see him as a Fabianski replacement. Manchester United have some ideas about adding a goalkeeper if they need to, but they are hoping they don't need to.
Dean Henderson (G) Manchester United want to keep DH but he wants guarantees with Ajax, Borussia Dortmund and Spurs considering their options. Newcastle may offer an immediate solution. Common sense dictates keep Henderson but I suspect the club think otherwise. Perhaps a loan again.
Sam Johnstone (G) Will not be sold in January but Spurs, Newcastle, West Ham and Southampton may look to offers in the summer.
Jordan Pickford (G) has been recommended to Spurs.
Keiran Trippier (RB) Atletico will sell. They are likely hoping for Spurs, Arsenal or Everton interest as well as Newcastle and Manchester United - but Everton interest may have left with CA.
Nikola Milenkovic (CB) Milan and Spurs have an interest in NM but Milan will need to sell to raise funds and that may be a problem. Something could be done with Spurs and he is their first choice.
Clement Lenglet (CB) Another player Barcelona are keen to move on. Very patchy and inconsistent season. Value is falling away and they will move him on as soon as they can. Spurs see him as an upgrade to what they have and something may be possible as soon as January.
Stefan de Vrij (CB) Inter value the player at €45M and as close to 30 finding a buyer at that price will be difficult. Paratrici and Conte may well provide an option at Spurs but he is not first choice. Something may still be possible for Spurs.
Gleison Bremer (CB) Carlo Ancelotti tried to take him to Napoli and also Everton. He could try again as an affordable option for Real Madrid. Spurs and Milan provide good options as Spurs look to upgrade on the CBs they have and Milan fear losing Alessio Romagnoli as a Free Agent. Again, he is of interest to Inter Milan who fear losing Stefen de Vrij, Milan Skriniar and/ or Alessandro Bastoni in the summer. Previously of interest to Leicester and Liverpool, but both opted for others. Juventus have him on a list of options should they lose de LIgt in the summer but there are certainly a couple ahead of him. Chelsea have a pressing need to add CBs with four out of contract in the summer and could look to him as a cost-effective solution - but a move seems unlikely. Torino will look to a new contract to end thoughts of a move but that has not stopped clubs scouting him as they expect him to be available in the summer as he has so far refused a new contract. Torino do not plan to sell in January. A move to Spurs seems unlikely.
Roger Ibanez (CB) Roma purchased the player on June 30 at the end of his loan with the intent of selling him on - Leicester, Spurs and Porto were keen on taking the player then but nothing happened. Spurs and Roma were still discussing options but Mr Mourinho would like to keep him.
Ruben Neves (DM/ CM) Wolves would look to get as close to €50M as they can should circumstances dictate Neves is sold, but they certainly don't want to sell and have made clear that he has a long-term contract and there have been no approaches at this time. Mr Mourinho is a huge fan and has tried to take him to three different clubs in the past - and he would, I am sure be interested in taking him to Roma but their focus right now is elsewhere. He has always been seen as an option to replace Matic at Manchester United, but they have other priorities to deal with first and preferred options - although Wolves might see an offer. His agent has been actively offering him around and has spoken with Juventus who are looking to offload players but none that I would expect Wolves to be interested in. The Spurs coach would like him as an upgrade to Sissoko (who has now left) and Ndombele but it is likely both would need to leave as they have added another in midfield as well - if Winks were sold an offer is more likely. Arsenal are likely now out of the picture. I would forget any chance of a move to Spurs and I expect him to stay with Wolves for now.
Nahitan Nandez (DM/ CM) Cagliari need to sell to cover themselves financially and will listen to offers over €30M which West Ham and Leeds see as too expensive - although Bielsa remains a fan after he tried to take him to Leeds when he left Boca in 2019. Inter have had several discussions with Cagliari and the player has made it clear that Inter is very much his preferred destination. Arsenal requested information when they were searching for a DM but it was made clear that they would not be considered an option. Paratrici took his Juventus interest to Spurs but has to make room before any bid is made with Oliver Skipp, Moussa Sissoko and Harry Winks being similar players. Napoli have asked about his availability. Roma provide an option as a Diawara replacement after being messed around over the Xhaka move, but they seem to have turned their attention elsewhere. Inter may well win out.
Yves Bissouma (CM/ DM) Brighton would like to continue to resist any approaches although time may be running out now - with the player having made known his desire for the club to consider offers for him although has not formally requested a transfer. He shares a "representative" with Pepe who he spent a season with at Lille and he failed to persuade Arsenal to move for him - and they have now likely moved on. Interest of Spurs may not have departed with Mr Mourinho with them moving on Sissoko and looking for an upgrade on Ndombele - although he will not be first choice. Monaco may have provided an option but I suspect the price will be too high for them and they have a first choice preference. he is not home grown makes him less attractive to most English sides although Manchester United, Manchester City and Liverpool and Leicester have spoken with his representative. He is not first choice for Manchester City but they could return - Manchester United do not currently have space in the midfield and have a preferred target to replace Pogba and clear DM targets, but don't lose sight of them - Liverpool interest remains but they may not have the money without sales. There is a further complication in that his family is directly involved in all major decisions. Brighton have made clear to one side who enquired that they will be looking to get as close as they can to £50M - although that seems rather unlikely now. Very doubtful anything will happen with Spurs.
Corentin Tolisso (CM) Bayern Munich would be happy to use him in a part exchange deal for either Bastoni or Chiesa but Inter and Juventus will look to trying to include different players in a deal or even look at cash. Atletico could look to offering up Saul. Spurs just might be open to taking him, but it seems unlikely to me. PSG interest has shifted elsewhere. Whilst his agent is offering him around Barcelona have also been approached.
Houssem Aouar (CM) Lyon were frustrated by Arsenal previously not taking a realistic approach to trying to complete the transfer of the player and now they no longer need him. PSG failed to make a suitable offer and have other targets now but if they were to change coach that interest may return. With the impact of the broadcasting losses, clubs in France are facing a difficult time and Lyon may reduce their €60M asking price this summer to ensure a sale as he will be entering the final year of his contract. Juventus interest has drifted as they have a preferred target in mind. Real Madrid have been approached by his agent but have suggested that they would ideally want to offer a player in any deal as they seek a Modric replacement - but they are interested in finding a solution. Lyon want cash so it may be difficult but it is the preferred choice for the player. Barcelona were approached but they will not be in a position to do anything unless Frenkie de Jong is tempted away from the club. Paratici has taken his prior interest at Juventus to Spurs and may look to including Ndombele in a deal - I doubt that will suit Lyon.
Franck Kessié (CM) Efforts are being made to secure a new contract, but the issue is over the wages continues with Milan struggling. Could potentially be sold but I expect agreement to be reached eventually else there will be a lot of interest with Juventus looking to meet his demands. Interest of Mr Mourinho at Spurs and now Roma remains. Spurs also want him as an Ndombele replacement, but the player remains keen to move to Chelsea to eventually replace Kante - but Chelsea turned down the offer from his agent initially although a proposal is on the table that would suit both clubs and the player. Conte may press Spurs to add him. His agent has also approached Manchester United and PSG but both sides would need to move a player on in order to add Kessie - but both are interested. An option may exist with Barcelona considering a deal for Kessie that will involve Umtiti. His agent has also spoken with Liverpool and Leicester who may be interested in agreeing a pre-contract in January but both have preferred targets. Something could be done with Spurs.
Mattias Svanberg (CM) Milan are considering a January offer but Conte would like him at Spurs. Certainly a possibility.
Weston McKennie (CM) Fiorentina would like to take the player and Juventus are looking to add a leading CM and need to raise funds and offload, ideally Ramsey and Arthur - but an option would be to sell Weston McKennie to Spurs or Bayern Munich who have both have shown an interest - although it seems to be waning. A representative of Juventus was in London for talks with Chelsea and was asked to meet with West Ham who have declared an interest. I am not so sure the player would be interested. Juventus will keep him if they cannot raise €30M from a sale.
Nicolo Barella (CM) Don't be surprised of a significant offer from PSG or Spurs. It will be rejected and the player has signed a new contract and will stay. No chance.
Philippe Coutinho (AM/ CM) was available in the summer and was actively being offered around to English, Italian and German sides - but the clubs approached like Spurs, Arsenal, Wolves, Leicester Liverpool and Everton had preferred options or no interest and would only look to him if options dried up and if a loan to buy option were available - but Barcelona ideally wanted cash and still do. Italy may provide an option on loan but that won't suit Barcelona which might well rule out Lazio. Milan would not be a surprise at the right price. If Barcelona cut their losses then they may look to an exchange and might see who clubs like Juventus have available. Kia wanted to get him in to Arsenal ahead of Odegaard or Aouer - but that came to nothing. Kia will knock on Edu's door again in January and try and strike a deal - but with Odegaard signed it is hard to see where he would fit in without Smith Rowe departing. Kia will also try Spurs again, who do have space in their squad but unless they soon turn things around their focus might be elsewhere. A deal involving Ndombele may be suggested. Kia has approached Newcastle but they have no immediate need for a superagent and need to resolve other issues before buying players and it is an unattractive option for Pipco. Liverpool will likely also be approached but I doubt would be interested - but you never know. Raheem Sterling (W) At the right price his sale will help the start of a rebuild. He will be available for perhaps £60-70M. Could be one of the players offered to Spurs for Kane or Barcelona if any part exchange is possible. Arsenal may offer an option as a Pepe replacement. Else he will have to settle for a new contract.
Brennan Johnson (LW) Interest from last summer from Leicester may have gone but the interest of Brentford, Leeds and Brighton remains. Spurs have had scouts watching him all season.
Julian Alvarez (S/ RW/ F) was looked at by Aston Villa but they opted for Buendia. Milan at one point thought that they would lose Alexis Saelemaekers and declared an interest but that has likely passed. Spurs have several versatile forwards they have shown an interest in and see value in Alvarez. Bayer Leverkusen are looking to the player as a potential Bellarabi replacement. There are significant changes coming at Inter Milan in the summer of 2022. Fiorentina see him as an option to replace Vlahovic. Joaquin Correa arrived on loan but they continue to look for options who can provide more width and Alvarez is very much on their list. Do not be surprised by an offer from Bayern Munich. A move to Spurs will be unlikely.
Jonas Hoffman (RW) seems unlikely to be available. I would scratch him but his goalscoring has been impressive this season.
Jarrod Bowen (RW/ LW) I am still not aware of any formal approach to West Ham by Liverpool, but Bowen is a player who would be an ideal replacement for the now departed Shaqiri - and he is HG. Liverpool have a good relationship with his agent and have apparently spoken with him. I don't know if West Ham would be open to selling. Their focus is on other positions. So it makes some sense if West Ham are open to a sale and if the player accepts a bit-part role. Previously Leicester had an approach turned down by West Ham. Spurs want to add competition to Moura but Bowen would want to be a starter. Very unlikely.
Dejan Kulusevski (RW/ CM/ AM) Juventus have told Spurs and Atletico Madrid that he is not for sale but if a decent offer of €30M or more were made that position might change, even as early as January as Juventus look to raise funds. Has been rather inconsistent this season.
Gareth Bale (RW/ F) Expect him to see his contract out in 2022. Real Madrid could look to buy him out of it, but time is running down. Hard to think of a club who would match his salary package outside of the Middle East. A return to Spurs may be an unlikely option - but I doubt it.
Eden Hazard (LW/ RW) Real Madrid have problems one way or another with all of their wingers and there is no guarantee any will be at the club next season. He will be another that Real Madrid listen to offers for and has been offered to several Premier League sides including Spurs - won't happen.
Andrea Belotti (S) of Torino is out of contract in the summer and may provide a solution for Barcelona to add cover. Spurs could also look to him as cover and as a Free Agent he provides a potentially viable addition for Arsenal. Cannot move in January due to injury. I think this is one MIlan may win out - but don't discount Spurs.
Raul de Tomas (F) His agents see the coming summer as the last chance of a major move and have been offering him around - back to Real Madrid (which won't happen) , to Atletico (unlikely) , Leeds and to Spurs (as a Harry Kane back up or replacement option) . Runs hot and cold - most clubs won't want the risk but is scoring well this season.
Gianluca Scamacca (S) Juventus interest is sustained and Paratici may well have taken his prior interest to Spurs as a more viable alternative to Vlahovic if they are to lose Harry Kane. Milan also see him as an option to Vlahovic and if Inter were to lose Martinez then they too could look to him. Perhaps if Fiorentina lose Vlahovic they too could look to him.
Mauro Icardi (S) Efforts will be made to engineer a move for Icardi from PSG to Juventus. Others may also show their hand. Spurs see him as a potential Kane replacement.
Dusan Vlahovic (S) Fiorentina eventually managed to hang on to the player last summer regardless of the interest of Manchester City and Atletico Madrid and now want a new contract. The player's agent has made it clear to the club that the player needs to make a step up and move on. There is significant interest in the player. Milan are keen on the player as an Ibrahimovic replacement - Spurs have the same view in respect of Kane and Antonio Conte is an admirer of the player. Whilst Paratici is keen he may be scared off by the price and could turn to an alternate solution Spurs have in mind. Dortmund see him as a Haaland replacement but a move seems unlikely. Manchester United have had him watched but, like Roma and Arsenal are an unattractive option and can be discounted; whilst the rising cost of the transfer will remove Atletico Madrid from the equation, and they have a far more economically viable solution in mind. Bayern Munich and Juventus offer attractive options which would see him at the top of the game. Juventus have an advantage as the player is keen to remain in Italy - but the club are being pressed to sign another. Bayern Munich are looking for a long-term successor to Robert Lewandowski and know that their first choice is very unlikely to join them as it stands right now. Chelsea are still a striker short and may put a proposal to Fiorentina but it is difficult to see the move happening. Barcelona may become an option if they lose out on Haaland and, critically, if Fiorentina would accept players as part of a deal. I think it unlikely. PSG cannot be discounted as an Icardi replacement. Inter want the future of Lautaro Martinez resolved else they will also look to him. Manchester City should still not be discounted and he I seen as a very clear option to Harry Kane. The player was happy to stay this season but there will be efforts made in January to agree a transfer, perhaps for the summer. The compelling case for him to stay where he is for this season has proven correct with his value increasing and a wider range of clubs interested. The best advice would be to see what happens in Munich and Turin - and don't rule out a bid from Spurs if they lose Kane or Manchester City if they cannot sign Kane or Haaland. Fiorentina will look to €90M or €100M.

It sickens me. These boys have the world at their feet. Paid absolute fortunes and still cannot put a shift in.

Swap Dele for Georginio Wijnaldum possibility maybe. I’d take that.

Hi Ed, can you tell us about Spurs' plans for the winter window?

{Ed002's Note - Clubs do not usually plan for January sales so buying in January can be expensive and clubs may not get the players they want. As such it is difficult to say which of the targets might be available in January. I suspect de Vrij would be available "at the right price".}

Hi Ed02.
Can I ask which managers Spurs are considering for the vacant position? I have a friend who's a fan of Spurs, and he would like to hear! :)

{Ed002's Note - Paulo Fonseca nearly took the job before and perhaps will offer a very good option but Paratricia is not a fan. As I said before the club have had tentative discussions with Antonio Conte and he is a great coach - but it could go horribly wrong, but I suspect soimething can be done subject to guarantees. A good fit for Paratrici.}
