can believe that we will spend £50m on one play in Jan Raver. media hype.

The thing is NES we need to and I think Poch and Levy know this. He’s only 20 and they’re looking to tie him down to a 5/ 6 year deal. If he’s a class player they’ll make a big profit going by today’s figures if we were to sell after 5 years . Look at Coutinho.

Agree with your prognosis DR, 'IF' is the million dollar question.

it's just not our MO to sp3ndd bug in January sales.

20 Jan 2018 14:59:16
ha ha glitch or typo?
supposed to read 'spend big' DR.

20 Jan 2018 20:14:57
I read we will loan him back till the end of the season.

21 Jan 2018 18:49:33
What you are saying is totally correct DR but not every player develops into a coutinho, there will always be an element of risk with the youngsters e. g. Depay, zaha, shaw, Walcott they all looked like world beaters as kids.

Walcotts goal ratio is more or less the same as Coutinho, with more sub appearences too.

You need to understand that we don’t spend money. Is a new stadium going to turn us into a spending power? No it’s making sure we don’t get taken over by clubs like West Ham.
We haven’t got owners like other clubs. Whether you agree or not about them running the club properly we are a feeder club to the huge clubs.
Obviously feeling optimistic.

30m on Sissoko, 38m on Sanchez. 30m Lamela. - Of course we spend money.

23 Jan 2018 17:41:54
Actually Sanchez was £42m and we also signed Llorente £12m, and Aurier £23m. The season before we spent £30m on Sissoko, Janssen £17m and N’koudou £11m. The season before that we signed Alderweireld £11.5m, Wanyama £11m, Son £18m and N’Jie £8.2m.

The problem is we sold Walker £45m, Wimmer £18m, Fabio £2.8m. The season before we sold Carroll £4.5m, Pritchard £8m, Mason £10m and achadli £13m. The season before we sold Townsend £12m, Lennon £4m, Soldado £10m, Chiriches £4.5m, Stambouli £6m, Kaboul £3m, Capoue £5.7m, Holtby £4m and Paulinho £9.9m.

The point is we are buying and selling well but our NET investment in players has been nothing short of SHOCKING. If we are to challenge in the FA Cup, Top 4 League and Champions League, then we need to invest much more.

my issue is that we seem to spread our available funds for investment over a few players, to minimise risk. instead of purchasing the right player (s)

the ethos seems to be risk averse, transfers that don't work out are off set by the ones that do, financially. if we had only invested a little more on the players that didn't work out.

Look at Jansen, Sissoko, Soldado, Fabio, Nkoudou, Njie as examples. decent fees spent but if we had only amalgamated two of any of those fees into 1 player. or even purchased 4 from their fees.

you only need to look at our players purchased and sold to see that we have quite a lot of traffic since Levy took the reigns.

that I believe is the fundamental issue.
