Hi Ed's,

Do you know any details you can say over this alderweireld legal issue? Does this looked to have stopped the deal for us? 2nd is Lacazette an options Spurs are considering and is he speaking with other clubs as far as you know?
Thanks

{Ed001's Note - Atletico invoked the clause but did not stump up the cash, so Saints are saying they get the right to buy him at the agreed price. Spurs have made a bigger offer, which Atletico would prefer to accept, but they need to sort things out with Southampton. Right now they can't agree to sell Alderweireld anywhere without sorting things out with Soton. The issue is that the player wants to go back there, so Atletico just want Southampton to pay more to get him. If they had bought out the clause then the only acceptable offer on the table is Spurs. Personally it seems to be the likeliest that some sort of compromise will be agreed between Atletico and Southampton for Alderweireld to join them for a bit more than the initially agreed fee.}

Alderweireld wants to join Tottenham and is close to joining.

Ed001, you are completely wrong. Alderweireld is in London and is due to have a medical. His preference is spurs and that will be proven in the next few days.

{Ed001's Note - if his preference was Spurs it would be done already. He might well end up signing with Spurs, because Saints refuse to up their bid, but he did want to go there, which is what has held up everything. Saints would not be bickering about the clause if he was not keen to go there, as they would just get the buyout and be happy. So no, I am not wrong.}

He said that in May when Tottenhams interest wasn't known. He wasn't going to say no I don't want to join Soton was he, keeping his options open.

Thanks Ed001

{Ed008's Note - Have you seen Alderweireld in London then? Or have you been reading Twitter rumours again?

And what exactly do you know Cognizant. Have a bit of respect for the Eds who clearly know more than you.

Hi Ed, going back to what I posted earlier, would it not make sense for Atletico to accept both bids and allow the Player to decide? Surely the Player would have the final say on which Team he moves to? So even if Southampton were to get their way the Player could reject negotiations?

Agree0 Disagree3

{Ed001's Note - it would if Saints were offering anything like as much as Spurs, yes. It is about half the amount though.}

I would rather that we sign a Player who wants to sign for us then for one who would be Holding out for another Club.

I just know, couldn't care what you think clankers. It isn't about a lack of respect to the eds I was just saying he is wrong. It's a rumours site and some people have good info believe it or not, many don't but I do.

Thanks Ed, but at the same time they would probably be better off accepting the higher and lesser deal to avoid what they would have to pay in legal fees etc and then let the Player decide, despite the difference in Transfer fees being offered?

Agree0 Disagree3

{Ed001's Note - I doubt legal fees would mount up to around £7m!}

Your right, but time is Money. And it is time wasted on a Player who they do not really want.

Im talking about Atletico not wanting the Player.

{Ed001's Note - yeah true, but it should be sorted eventually, and the club are not in a strong financial position, so they have to try and get all they can.}

I'm guessing Sotons legal position isn't too strong if as now being reported they have upped their offer is true.
