Alvaro Morata would be a decent third choice striker option, lots of potential but is struggling with so many quality proven strikers ahead of him. That said I've seen nothing linking us with any Real players bar the usual old chestnut because Lass used to play for Harry, but we hardly need another DM

Ed can you confirm the rumour about redknapp or is it just crap? {Ed008's Note - Can't confirm anything all i know is theirs talks about a contract ongoing...
Believable0
Unbelievable1
Not sure if it's true but has anyone noticed in the past week how quiet Harry has been?
Normally shouting about signing someone way out of our reach ( tevez, messi, Ferdinand,) {Ed001's Note - I am told Levy is unhappy with Harry's media dealings. That he puts part of the blame for Spurs' end of season collapse onto Harry's constant talking to the media and discussing everything very publicly. I think Harry will be either a lot quieter in future or looking for a new job myself.}
Agree4

How do we know he is not just taking a break from football atleast for a week. Heck he has had a massive year full of drama on and off the pitch. Id be happy if he was soaking up some lost island sun.

Luuk de Jong from FC Twente could be one of the inbound strikers, seems we're looking at two from a pool that contains him along with Adebayor, Remy, Damaio and an unnamed Premier League striker (Demba Ba perhaps?).
This along with a replacement for Modric, if he goes are major priorities. That's where the Lavezzi link may come from, also Belhanda, Martinez and Ganso have generated interest from Spurs.
Vertonghen appears a done deal and will be announced on or after June 1st.
Spurs also showed interest in Pedro of Barcelona recently but are not keen to enter negotiations with them if any kind as the subject of Bale will arise.

Tottenham have made a move for Brendan Rodgers after getting rid of Redknapp. This has halted Liverpools talks with him and no deal has been signed yet.

I'm unsure about whether this rumour is false or not. If you listen to the other rumours further down about Levy being unhappy with Redknapp, then has Levy's hand been forced with Liverpool going for Brenden Rodgers. Liverpool are discussing compensation at the moment according to BBC but it's known that he has a £5m release clause in his contract anyway so this rumour could be true (unless you it's like 1+1 = 3 ie it don't add up). I for one am undecided about Redknapp, sure he's done a great job but he's tried to keep his options open this season which has certainly messed us up (as we should have got 3rd). As alway least we not forget IN LEVY WE TRUST.

Would much rather Martinez than Rodgers. Swansea have his foundations that Rodgers has continued. Martinez has managed to get some great results and survive several years with no top players whatsoever (sorry Wigan), when they do unearth one they sell. They try to play good football despite the players they have and I think he has the right philosophy for Spurs.

I don't think redknapp has gone, but as long as we're doing this, my choice would be paul lambert. Seems like everything harry is in terms of man management and transfers but knows his tactics as well

Can we really afford Cavani?
What prove do you have?

If we're struggling to pay the 13m for vertonghen, where are we gonna get 30+m for cavani?
Agree0
Disagree1
Maybe we are struggling the £13m for Vertonghen because Levy has big plans for big money moves for some strikers? We can only spceculate
Agree2
Disagree2
Were not struggling.....its called haggling , you try to get a lower price tthan the one quoted. facepalm!
Agree1
Disagree1
The person who said mentioned the facts we struglling to pay for Vertonghen.. We aren't struggling, I believe Levy is wondering if he's worth it and he's also probably waiting for Ajax to agree on the price.
Agree0

Martin looks a good player. We all know about Cavani but I would have serious doubts as to whether we can afford him I hope we can though.

Apparently spurs and the goons are both chasing Lazii captain Stefan Radu with s**tty interested as well even though he still has 4 years left on his contract.
Eds do you think it could happen? {Ed001's Note - there is certainly interest in him from the Prem, it does look like he is going to move, but I have no idea where.}

Heard shalke are bidding 12 mil to get rafa VDV. klass jan hunteelar wont sign an extension to his contract and they think signing rafa will help. luckily for us he loves tottenham, just whether tottenham want to cash in.
hope not, rafa is a pain in the arse but he's a legend. lets hope he persuades Klass to come to us instead.

Neymar, more chance in getting Messi.

Huntelaar is klaas, and VDV is happy at Spurs. The pair playing together would be mouthwatering
Agree3
Disagree2
VDV should not be sold, regardless of our opinions. We already have to do a lot of business this summer with new strikers + vertonghen and maybe a new winger, plus a replacement for modric if he goes. Selling VDV, who is one of our 'star' players (Bale & Modric too) plus the only one who has expressed a genuine desire to stay and become a legend will only increase the uncertainty in the dressing room. It's not worth it for the disruption it would cause our season
Agree2
Disagree1
A legend after 20 months and unable to play 90 mins ... Your standards have slipped a long ways... Oh and what have we won since he arrived ? Mmmm
Agree1
Disagree4
Did I say he was already a legend? No. What you can't avoid though is we have a world cup final captain in our squad who is one of the classiest players I have seen at spurs in a long time, who has publicly stated he will only move to spend the last few years of his career in the eredivisie.
Agree2

Which is why he is so quiet about the Schalke rumor ?

Quote: A legend after 20 months and unable to play 90 mins ... Your standards have slipped a long ways... Oh and what have we won since he arrived ? Mmmm.
This is some kind of joke post? VDV is one of the few players Im happy to shell out an arm and a leg for to watch at the lane. He is class, period. No we havent won anything since he has been with us and we didnt finish in the top three with Adebayor, Modric, Bale etc, etc. You think its all down to VDV?As for not being able to play for 90mins, thats utter bullsh*t. Injuries aside, he has shown that he is more than capable of staying on the pitch for 90mins but Redknapp has proved that, more often than not, he cant keep the fella on without taking him off. To the other poster, when you are as clever as he is on the pitch you can compensate for a lack of pace. Are you going to criticise Parker for no pace? Sandro? Huddlestone? Modric? Nah. IIRC, his goals tally isnt too shabby either, right? How soon people forget, eh? Some of the stuff on here is utter cack and you seriously wonder if some of the posters have been watching Spurs with blindfolds on. To repeat: He is top quality, scores goals, creates goals, is experienced and to replace him with as good or better will cost us about twice the amount of the £10 million that has been suggested Shalke would pay for him. Do the maths if you cant do the football phillosphy.

VDV class yes, a legend no.
Agree0

I reckon before you reply you really ought to learn to read peoples posts. NOBODY has said he IS a legend, have they? The difference between the good, the great and the legends is, possibly silverware and, without a doubt, the supporters perception of them. Loyalty can make legends just as much as trophys can. This club has many "legends" but not all of them were great players just loyal hardworking Pros who understood what being a supporter meant. Dont assume that great players automatically become legends, they dont.

Defoe would never join the Gooners. He loves Spurs too much and wouldn't wanna become a hate figure.
Agree3

Defoe left West Ham for us, hence most of them hate him. Do you think he'll be that bothered about us hating him if he's playing more, on more money and able to stay in London? Doubt it and it's not like he's the main man is it, even Saha was used as a starter and sub as much as him.

I have been friends with a family
member of Harrys for 45 years. Last
week they told my brother that Harry
was at loggerheads with Levy over
the length of his next contract. Harry
has now spoken to two other clubs. He
thinks Harry hopes Levy will give in.
At this stage Levy is being stubborn,
which may see Harry depart. Last i
had heard this was to be Harry's last
job. Levy seems to still be upset
over the England speculation and
Harry's refusal to go public and say
he was not interested.

I believe the rumour. Personally I'm hacked off that Harry didn't commit and so would Levy especially how we stood by him in the tax case. I read somewhere yesterday that we may be copying the Barcelona system by promoting within. Harry will stay for at least a season but Tim Sherwood will take over as manager when he goes.
