We have agreed a deal for Vertongen £7M as his contract runs out soon. However so has Arsenal

Believable5 Unbelievable5

How Is That Possible?

Agree1 Disagree4

I think he means Spurs and Arsenal have both had bids accepted by Ajax. Its now up to Vertonghen to choose who he wants to play for.

Naz

Agree4 Disagree1

Ajax have agreed a fee from both Spurs and Arsenal, its up to him to choose which team.

Spurs Lad

Agree4 Disagree1

Interesting choice for him. He'll play more at spurs, and we are very much the team on the up, but arsenal are more established on the euro stage and the presence of vermaelen could factor. Hope he comes here though {Ed008's Note - Yeah but at Arsenal he wouldn't play unless you move Vermaelen across to LB or change formation, however at Spurs he'd be 1st choice!

Agree2 Disagree3

How is that possible person...

Clubs bid for players. Clubs can accept or decline. The player then decides.

Would you like to know how the offside rule works as well?

Enough with troll hating. I agree with the ED. Although if Arsenal decide Squillaci and Koscielny arent as good Vert then we can safely assume Arsene(l) will change things up. Long summer ahead, especially with europe's best(and hidden gems) showcasing their talent this summer. Its going to be an interesting transfer window.

Agree2 Disagree2

Also agreed a fee with newcastle

Agree1 Disagree6

Vertongen is a spurs fan. he will join spurs in a fee between £9 and £11 mil.

Agree0 Disagree0

How is Vertonghen a Spurs fan? He's Dutch...

Agree1 Disagree1

Ed08, did you just repeat what I said? {Ed008's Note - Pretty much lol

There will be no signings just yet, I have it on good authority that Levy is running out of patience with Harry. If Harry does not get us champs league he will be out. The collapse at the end of the last 2 seasons have shown Harrys tactical limitations and his distraction by the England job have led Levy to question Harrys commitment to the club. If we get champs league Harry stays and gets upward of £50 mill to spend plus what ever from player sales. If we dont get champs league a new manager (rumour is it maybe a dutchman) will come in and get a bigger budget.

Believable6 Unbelievable4

If it is a dutchman who do you reckon it will be - Dick Advocat has just left his post, and I keep hearing Louis Van Hal name appear (sorry about the spelling if I got it wrong)
At the end of the day what we need is to rebuild - we have got ourself s in a good position sitting in fourth with 2 wins in 10, if we were consistent we would be in contention for the title - so we shouldn't nock HR yet! We need HR to negotiate to the big players this is where the future is - we are not a club who have billions to spend and we are growing in our own right - City and Chelsea are there because of their billionaires - no other reason, city would be trying to get Europa if they didnt have sheik!

Oh nice to hear MR BS is back - let me ask whats the deal with Messi ORACLE, oh yeah, and Robben, Kaka, Ronaldo, Higuain etc. Are they all going to be wearing the shirt of the mighty spurs next season?

Agree2 Disagree3

^^ to the above. The summer is going to be interesting, but Harry, if Harry, better learn what Arsene learned last season. Continuously bandaging problems and not acting fast enough in the transfer market displeases fans greatly. Buy fast and the right player, not late and just anyone. If the transfer kit is anywhere near 50m then we may finally have a transfer to get excited about since VDV and the Ade loan.

Also the oracle comment was hilarious. Just watch if he ever, and i mean if, gets lucky with one prediction expect to never hear the end of it.

Agree1 Disagree2

Absolutely agree with you. We need to act fast, I hate to say it like Chelsea who in my opinion have just secured one of the best talents in Europe - Marin (another loss thanks to the transfer team)
We just need 3 top quality signings and I think we will be top 4 easily next year. If you think about it, the Manchester clubs are way above everyone, next season I think its the year for a London club! COYS

Agree0 Disagree1

Initially I was worried about them getting marin, but I spoke to a friend who follows the bundesliga and he said that for the last year or so he's been carp. plus he dives more than ashley young

Vertonghen in talks with Spurs, what do the Eds make of this? I think that if Spurs qualify for CL he will go to WHL where he will be a regular starter. Have been reading the comments on the Arsenal page with people describing him as a good utility/rotation player. Definitely not, this guy is a great player and deserves to start in the heart of the defence, which he definitely will do with Spurs. Think him and Kaboul could make a mean partnership...

Hass

Believable9 Unbelievable7

I hope he joins would do well with kaboul and dawson with caulker and king as cover. we defo need a new keeper though maybe go for ben foster or swansea keeper both would do well

Agree5 Disagree2

The player himself has stated Arsenal as his preffered club , he's basically said if Arsenal try and sign him then he'll go to the Emerites , plus he's good friends with Vermaelen

Arjen Robben will be joining Spurs in the summer and Gareth Bale is getting sold. Rafael Van Der Vaart has convinced Levy that Robben is better than Bale and will cost a fraction of the transfer proceeds.

The Oracle.

Believable8 Unbelievable16

Haa oracle back again. well this seems about as believable as your previous posts...

Agree6 Disagree4

Wow, was this the convo...?

Rafa: hey levy, robben is better then bale, so sell him.

Levy: good idea, i love you telling me what to do, rafa.

Agree8 Disagree4

Bale won't be leaving, but Spurs will try to get Robben, there will be stiff competition though. VDV certainly might help though

Agree3 Disagree5

Thats total bull oracle, robbens wages are double bales u numpty! did u forget about the wage cap lol

Agree4 Disagree1

I would love Robben at Spurs and he does support/supported Spurs. I rate him as third best player in the world only behind Messi and Ronaldo.

But I do agree with above poster, not only will we have to pay around 30million but can we offer him a minimum of 150,000 a week? And I'm also guessing this transfer would on go through if we get champions league placement.

Good to have you back though Oracle

Naz

Agree1 Disagree4

On what planet does Robben support Spurs?! That's like saying Robbie Keane supports Liverpool. Oh no, wait, he supports Celtic. Oh no, wait... I'm confused

Agree2 Disagree3

Why are you responding to this idiot? {Ed008's Note - If you've seen on the Chelsea page he's been offered to Chelsea by the club i doubt he would go to Spurs wages are very high...

Agree1 Disagree2

Why are you responding to this idiot?

Agree1 Disagree2

It is amazing how people throw out insults and state facts that are clearly wrong. Arjen Robben has a contract worth 5,850,000 Euros per annum. Using the current exchange rate that is £4,750,000 or circa £90,000 per week. The current Spurs ceiling is £75,000 but a Champions League spot would see that rise to £100,000 next season, in addition our performance related bonuses could actually surpass his current remuneration structure with a wage ceiling increase.

So you armchair critics who throw out your assumptions, try to compile something more factual in future. Sure we all want to keep Bale, but hand on heart we all know Robben is as good if not better. His goal scoring record puts Bale to shame, as does his assist statistics. With a year left Robben would go for £10-£15m and Bale would sell for probably £50m+ due to the hype and his age. That would mean you could get a Hazard + Vertonghen + Robben for Bale which sounds far more appealing for Spurs. Let's all stop believing we can hold onto our stars if a ridiculous offer was tendered because it is simply not the case.

The Pracle {Ed001's Note - Robben was on 90k a week at Chelsea and left them for a pay rise. Your figures are nonsense.}

Agree2 Disagree1

Spurs fan or not robben would want to much wages so levy will never agree to that. maybe go for milner or johnson of man city as cover for lennon both will want to leave for 1st team chances

Agree4 Disagree1

I thought he was on 7million a year. I could be wrong.

That would equate to about £130,000 a week.

But on the positive side, we have a lower tax than Germany, so we could pay him less and he would earn more.

Naz

Agree1 Disagree2

Isnt he on £130,000 after tax??
