Just after watching brasillian sports news ch 801 on my dish, there saying deal for hulk to chelsea struck so much for financial fair play they might as well give platini 2 fingers & a kick in the balls, anyhoo think he's very hit & miss myself. Watched Affelay earlier for Holland the boy is a goodin 2 good feet I'd rather him or eljero Elia to b honest than hulk.
Espur {Ed007's Note - I have never been that impressed with Hulk. I really don't see what the fuss is about. You get the odd MOTD moment but that's about it IMO.}

Believable7 Unbelievable2

Do you wonder who is "building" the team at Chelsea with no perm manager, or is the Russian just going after anyone that he thinks might work out carried away by their CL success. Then again he is only loaning the money too the club.

Agree1 Disagree0

ED - You say your not impressed with Hulk, but 23 goal last season from 26 games and has all the attributes suited to English Football in amazing pace, power and thunderbolt shooting. I don't want it to be true if he is going to Chelsea, but I seriously doubt that he will be anything other than a superstar. The only things that look suspect are his defensive abilities and his temperament. If he gets kicked enough then maybe he will turn green and find a Fed card flashed in his face, but that aside I doubt he will fail to find the net.

His record this year of 16 in 24 is less convincing but still way above other many premiership stars. In addition he was played more sparingly this season with 7 substitutions. If all that wasn't enough he then plays for Brazil and scores two lovely goals on his debut against Denmark.

So ED I hope you are right but I would love you to tell me why you feel he hasn't impressed you because I have watched him a lot and struggle to find fault.

The Oracle {Ed007's Note - I'm not saying you are wrong and I am right, it is just my opinion of him and for the money getting bandied about I just don't see why he is so 'special'. He is a good player, not a great player IMO and definitely not worth the financial package being spoke about, to any team. At 25 (nearly 26) you are not buying talent to nurture, he is all he ever will be, and I just don't think he is worth the money or they hype, sorry mate.}

Agree4 Disagree2

His playing in the portuguese league! put a winger like daniel sturridge in that league who dont get me wrong is a good player but is not world class and he would score a goal a game. scoring 16 goals in 24 games in a very average league does not merit a 40 million pouind price tag. look when his played in europe, when porto won the uefa cup in 2010-2011 kanoute who had a poor scoring record for us scored more goals than him hulk scoring goals in the portoguese league means nothing.

Agree2 Disagree2

How arrogant to think our league is far superior to the Portuguese! Falcao isn't doing well in Spain now is he? Perhaps you think Darren Bent is a better player because he scores prem goals?

Agree5 Disagree2

He could have scored 100 goals in 5 games and it wouldnt be massively impressive. He is playing in one of the weakest European leagues there is!! Before that he played in Japan fercrissakes!! Ok, he may well have all the attributes, allegedly, to play in our fast, physical league but you would have to have a screw loose to pay anything like the amount that is being asked for him. He is going to be a gamble for anybody.
Watching him regularly may well make you feel that he is the real deal but, in all honesty, If i regularly watched a horse being ridden at full pelt every week I wouldnt assume that it would be good enough to run in the Derby let alone win it.
Super Y*d

Agree1 Disagree3

Agree with previous comment from super Y*d, you all watch hazzard be a flop next season garenteed. As will hulk if he joins, enevitable

Agree0 Disagree4

Its not arrogant to state that our league is superior to the Portugese one, its a fact! Darren Bent?? Utterly hopeless and overrated. I will give you a better example: Helder Postiga. Now go and do the maths on that one if you want any kind of proof.
Super Y*d.

Agree0 Disagree1

Not a good example super yod as own manager said after the sale that this kid aint ready for the prem league...... and he was right

Agree2 Disagree1

Its a very good example! I cannot understand all this "Well he isnt quite ready" bull. Look, you are either good enough or you are not. Sandro is just another young kid that has travelled halfway round the World and proved that he was good enough and still is. Postiga will never play in the Premiere again if he has another hole up his a*rse. He wasnt strong enough physically or mentally and he still wouldnt be. Posiga was a flop not because he wasnt ready but because he wasnt good enough.
Super Y*d

Agree2 Disagree4

Is Hulk also not physically strong enough then? Ronaldo wasn't a physical specimen when he came over! Still I've got hopes he'll come good one day

Agree2 Disagree1

I sincerely hope that Hulk and Hazard turn out to be average when put to the sword in our league. Sadly I don't share the same optimism on this one, and would almost guarantee that both turn out to be world class superstars. When you look at their attributes it is very difficult to find any flaws. Sadly I think they will totally transform Chelsea into a team capable of defending the Champions League.

Once again I hope I am wrong but when you look at a cat and see it has all the features of a cat, then it probably is a cat.

The Oracle

Agree4 Disagree2

Everyone is saying Hulk isnt that great because he is playing in the portuguese league. Portugal got a 3rd CL spot for their performances in Europe. Porto, Benfica, Braga are becoming bigger names in modern football. Lets not forget where Luiz, Ramires, Coentrao, Falcao, Di Maria, Pepe, Carvalho, and the whole CL-victory side under Mourinho came from. Give him a chance and he will light up the EPL with his running, strength, shooting, and assists. For example, Brazil waited to call him up but within a short period of time he has already become one of their top players.

Agree2 Disagree1

Dunno if he is TBH, is he? Is he a big strapping powerhouse in the mould of Michael Owen? You see where im coming from, right? So the fella is a bit of a battering ram, so what? You think the like of Kompany, even Terry etc, are not used to that kind of player? Physical strength is only part of it, will he have the mental strength to do the business when he finds that battering Portugese defences wont be the same as trying to batter the average Premiership one.Hey, maybe the fella is the real deal but, as was the major point of what i said way back when, the money thats required to buy him would make him a massive gamble.....and we aint got that kinda money to spend on a gamble!

Maarten Stekelenburg, Jan Vertonghen, Hulk and Adebayor will all sign for spurs.

Jermain

Believable2 Unbelievable17

Think you have been out in the sun too long !!

Agree7 Disagree0

Hulk would break our financial model based on rumored numbers regarding his supposed move to Chelsea. The other 3 are possible the least likely being Ade subject to his personal demands.

Agree2 Disagree1

How is stekelenburg more possible than Adebayor ? Isn't he on quite large wages and would probably fetch an equal transfer fee .... Id say Steken is least likely. Apart from hulk

Agree0 Disagree2

Gooners CRAWL back to your little hole and stop posting your rubbish on this site.... Hulk was confirmed 3 days ago as a chelski player 32million pounds.

Has there been any interest in kyle walker

Believable1 Unbelievable6

Signed a new contract in the last month so very unlikely he will go. also said he wants to with us

how would you feel about this as transfer dealings, keep bale and adebayor sell modric for roughly 40 -50 mil and buy another class creative midfielder such as potnetially ben arfa or cabaye??

Believable8 Unbelievable3

Agree ... but disagree with Ben Arfa and Cabaye. I'd rather use the money on someone like Nuri Sahin from Madrid, Marvin Martin from Sochaux or perhaps Shinji Kagawa if United don't get him.

Agree4 Disagree2

I wouldn't mind Cabaye at spurs to replace Modric. I think Newcastle would find it hard to refuse 14m? If we were to ever make a bid for him.

Jermain

Agree3 Disagree4

I agree with the bit with selling Modric and keeping Bale and Ade, but to replace Modric we need someone better! Especially if we do get 40-50 mill for him, then we can buy a world class centre-midfielder, such as Kagawa, Ozil, Lucas etc.

I also believe we should have some leftovers with a replacement with Modric, so with the leftovers we should use it to chip in some money to buy Vertonghen and also use it to help us buy a new striker equal or better to Ade such as Ba or Damiao (just my opinion).

We also need a new goalie as Friedel is getting old now. We should either buy an average one like Foster which will help us as he will be cheap and we will still have money in the bank OR get a world class goalie like Lloris!
We should also buy some centre-mid's (Cabaye), wingers (Hoilett) and centre-backs (P. Jones or Shawcross) for reserves.

If we meet this wishlist, I think we are title runners next season.

John COYS!

Agree2 Disagree2

I'm a Newcastle fan and I get so annoyed with people saying "Cisse would be a good shout", "Cabaye would be a good signing" etc. Since we let Carroll go, everyone assumes we're a selling team. And we only let him go because liverfool offered offensive amounts of money. I'm just saying, don't bother thinking about Ben Arfa, Cabaye, Cisse etc. They're here for the long term and so are the club.

Agree4 Disagree3

Speaking as someone who supports a club that were in a very similar position to newcastle recently - don't be so sure. At the end of last season no one expected modric to kick up a stink, and look what happened. Sure we kept him, but it almost derailed our season. Plus, I get the impression Ashley will sell if the offer is reasonable, and he's a spurs fan anyway isn't he. It's all academic though because IMO if we sold modric it should be abroad and we should replace him with sahin/Martin

Agree1 Disagree3

Unfortunatly as you are not owned by foreingers you can not compete in the transfer markets.. you seem to forget you club was not long ago brought back from the brink you are a selling club and always will be why would some1 want to live there life in a dirty cold place like newcastle where you can not understand a word anybody says and the girls have looser legs than a barbi doll ,cabaye is just waiting for his move to the gooners and ba tioti will go to the mancs

Agree0 Disagree1

I agree freidels getting old but i realy wouldnt want us to take a risk on someone like lloris for big money. i would much a prefer a keeper proven in the premier league as when we signed gomes he was very highly rated and look what happend there.

Agree0 Disagree2

Newcastle fan, you make a very fair point and, ordinarily, Id agree with you 100%. Unfortunately when the name "Mike Ashley" is said, the argument falls to pieces a bit. If the right money comes in, he will sell. Thats bad for the club and bad for its loyal supporters. Personally, Cisse could be a "One hit wonder" he has had a blinding half a season and there is no certainty whatsoever that he will hit the ground running next season. Thats going to be another massive gamble to any club wanting to sign him.To everyone else who thinks that we will or should flog Modric for £40 million and bring in his equal or better, Id say take your heads out of your a*ses and get real. How much money do you think somebody like Ozil earns a week? Do you SERIOUSLY think that we could sign these types of players and offer them the kind of money that we have Modric on? I doubt if Levy, as astute as he is with the money side of things, is going to be able to find another £100,000 odd grand a week ( on top of what is already paid to Modric) to pay a Modric replacement. Modric is right at the top of the tree in terms of World class midfield players and facts are facts, in terms of wages, we are getting him cheap, right or wrong is not relevent, its a fact. We can not afford to replace him with a player of equal ability, unless we find somebody who is the usual "up and coming" player and get in quick. That may be the only way but its taken Modric years to get to the standard he is now at, we will have to do the same with the new player.................and flog him when he too reaches his peak...if we are not regular Champions league material.
FFS!! Wake up!
Super Y*d

Agree0 Disagree1

You dont have the Money or the Clout to buy any of Newcastles players. You had your chance this season and blew it. I think you will lose Modric and Van Der Vart in the summer and struggle to replace them as you arnt in the CL

Agree2 Disagree7

Disagree all you want. You dont have CL football, Modric and Van Der Vart want to leave and you dont have the money to buy any of Newcastle best players

Agree0 Disagree0

Do we REALLY want Newcastles BEST players? IIRC, we have been linked with absolutely everybody but ive not seen us linked with any Newcastle players. If we have, direct me to the article/report or its not happened... VDV leaving is unlikely and its highly unlikely that if he did it would be to Germany. His missus loves being able to walk around London without getting mobbed, something she cannot do in Germany. I doubt if , for the sake of an hours flight time and VIP entry and exit at the airports, she will sacrifice her freedom here for the madness there. There is no point throwing your rattle out of the pram either. If you can say with any honesty that Ashley wouldnt sell one of your players with a good offer then you are a liar. History tells all Toon army fans that Ashley is a seller, thats why you all think of him as somesort of cockney c*nt wideboy. Levy, on the other hand HAS proved that he can get tough and not take the money and force players to stay. Still dont get it? Thats your problem fella, reality check time, your club is more likely to sell the Golden jewels than we are.

Apparently we're after lewandowski and/or Klaas Jan Huntelaar. Does anyone know anything more about this?

OUr transfer targets:
Vertonghen
one of either:
Klaas jan Huntelaar
Adebayor
cavani
and also:
Christian Erikson
Junior Hoilett

Modric must be sold if we want to bring in big name players, and the reason we are releasing a lot of players is so we can make some space in our wage structure for new players.

The Sledgehammer

Believable11 Unbelievable3

Cristian eriksen wants to say at Ajax one more season, if u said Seim De Jong it could be more believable

James_THFC

Agree1 Disagree4

Just what i heard mate. also i said Targets not "we've signed". But i do feel we need to get in quick with Christian Erikson so he doesn't become as hot property as Hazard did. If he does then it's unlikely that we'll get him. I think we should sell modric for 40 mill, get in one of the before mentioned strikers (except adebayor, his finishing and first touch isnt good enough) and a creative midfielder as well as a centre half

The Sledgehammer

Agree4 Disagree1

We wont sign any big names this summer as were not in the CL and we wont pay huge wages. {Ed004's Note - So you have posted pretending to be a Spurs fan and previously as a Toon fan, *sigh*, enjoy your ban...}

Was that to me? I didn't ever pretend to be a Toon fan!

Anyone know why modric not been in Croatia in last 2 games?

Believable1 Unbelievable2

I'm norwegian, and our commentator said he was out with a mild flu. Don't know about the previous game though.

Agree1 Disagree2

Plus he is knackered! We and 'arry ran him into the ground, either I think he started 34 of our 36 games this season.

Agree0 Disagree2

The League has a 38 game programme. I would have thought Modric made 45 - 50 appearances last season.

Agree0 Disagree1

He played in 38 games last season. I expect him to start the first game for Croatia

I would love to see us signing Ben Foster. He had a great season with W Brom last year and if he had been playing instead of Fulop against the Gooners we would have got third place. He would be available for around £6 million.

The Don

Believable2 Unbelievable3

Ur right foster would be an epic keeper for spurs but what about Gordon who's a free agent at the moment

Agree2 Disagree5

I would rather dembele than foster! The guy is class!!

Agree2 Disagree4

Dembele in goal??
Mmm strange. Enjoyed the game down the pub have we?
How about we go for both.
Dembele in midfield
Foster in goal tho

Agree3 Disagree4

Lol know what a mean! Ran the show tonight! Would rather foster than Gordon tho!

Agree2 Disagree1

Now that Rodgers has left Swansea, we should make a bid for Vorm.

Jermain

Agree7 Disagree2

Foster, av a laugh he is pants just a Lil bit better than gomes

Agree0 Disagree1

Agreed with the Vorm comment

Agree4 Disagree1

Foster at white hart lane getting lobbed by Robinson is all I can think about whenever I think of him. A good keeper but we need a great keeper.

Harry Redknapp is staying at Tottenham - and wants to build a three-year dynasty.

Redknapp has held contract talks with Spurs chairman Daniel Levy this week, with senior players fearing he could leave.

Redknapp, 65, has only one year left on his deal but remains committed to the club despite the heartache of missing out on the Champions League even though he led the team to fourth place this season.

Redknapp is 65. Three more years would take him to 68 when he may decide to call it a day, having insisted when he took over that this would be his last job in football.

As i said previously my brother was talking
to a member of Harrys family. Its all out
in the open now. Harry wants a two year
extension Levy is only offering one year.
Harry's champions league plans are in the press
for all to see. If Levy outs him now for AVB
Harry will possible take another job letting
the press know he was let down by Levy.
To the muppet who said i was a gooner for
letting everyone know the story early. You
really look a bit stupid now its all out in
the open.
