Eds, are spurs showing any interest in van dijk at Celtic? Absolute bargain at 6 mill! I know it's the SP, but he looked a different class to anyone playing there! Would also be a lot better than Kaboul or Dawson and has age on his side!
Also, is it true Spurs have offered £17 mill for Memphis delay?
Thanks Eds

{Ed001's Note - I don't know about van Dijk, I will ask for you. As for Depay, I was told an informal enquiry had been placed asking the price, but nothing more.}

Davo,

just had a quick discussion, van Dijk is looking for a move for personal reasons, so it is pretty much certain he is leaving Celtic.
Poch has watched him a few times while Southampton boss Ed007 was telling me. So the chances are good he will still want him and he is identifying his targets, so I will now await any info from your end.
By the way, I did just speak to someone from Spurs, who tells me they believe that Spurs have missed out on Origi as he has joined Liverpool or is set to join them I should say. Though I get the impression he has yet to agree personal terms and undertake a medical, so it is not done and dusted yet.

Thanks yet again Ed

Hi eds, the daily fail are reporting that arsenal are willing to buy loic remy for 8 million. I take it this is true, as it seems typical of wenger. Has spurs' interest in him gone cold?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - I know of no bid from Arsenal for him.}

How about spurs, do they not want him either?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - Spurs are interested but he wants to play in the Champions League, so is awaiting offers before making any decision.}

And sorry eds, just one last thing, are spurs hoping to sign dejan lovren? The media seem to like linking our targets with arsenal. And that includes him.

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - Poch would love to bring him in and Spurs have asked to be kept informed if Southampton do hold any talks. Lovren himself is keen on a move to a Champions League side though, and that is where the issue has come. Otherwise I think he would be done and dusted for Spurs, as he was Poch's number one choice.}

Ok ed 001 another one, do you know if spurs were the team to bid for hector Moreno? I know we weren't the only team interested in him.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I know you were interested, but I don't know who it was that bid for him. You were certainly the most likely of those with interest to bid. So in my opinion, and that is all I can use as I don't know for sure, it would have been Spurs. They were the club that were in talks, so it would make sense that you would make an offer while in talks.}

Hi Eds, Do you know how much of a kitty we have for this transfer window or is it only from sales of players?
Also, how long before the squad is fully assessed, so we can identify the key areas for our transfer policy.
Surely everyone can see we desperately need a LB, CB, CF as our priorities.
Cheers, Matt.

{Ed001's Note - there is defo a kitty of some kind, over and above sale of players, as Poch was made some guarantees when he took the job. I have no idea how much, just that he was made a guarantee he would be given funds. He has also been spending some time reviewing the squad and discussing things with Levy etc, oh and both parties agreed with a need to add strength to the club in left back and forward positions prior to him taking the job. I am told that Sevilla refused Liverpool's offer for Montero mainly on the basis of the interest Spurs are showing in him, so maybe something could happen there. Unless Sevilla have read the situation wrongly.}

Cheers Ed001, great reply. I have more confidence for this season if we can address the correct positions, unlike last season where we overspent in the midfield. I appreciate we need at least 2 players for each position to cover injuries, create competition and even the chance to rest players, but this can only work after making sure the first 11 are good enough to challenge for the top 4 then have quality in depth.

{Ed001's Note - Poch has asked for, and received, final say on the positions bought and sold. By that, I mean he will say which positions he wants to strengthen and give a list of the players he wants for each position. It won't be like it was under AVB, where he was just getting handed players and told to sort a team out of that lot. Even when the players incoming were ones he had specifically said he didn't want! That should help the club out a lot. By the way, you will soon see who actually wants to play for Spurs, as Poch will have the players in twice a day working hard. There will be a few murmurs and moans about that from the lazy!}

Again, many thanks Ed001, looks like we might finally be moving in the right direction as a club, cheers Matt.

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed001's Note - Poch will sort the men from the boys, that is for sure. Now it is just up to the club to back him, because there will be players who don't buy in to his regime. So it might be a slow start, as the players struggle to come to terms with the extra fitness work they are being asked to do. My worry is that Levy will panic and pull the trigger without giving him time to turn it around. After all Levy is no longer truly safe in his role either, he is seen as on dodgy ground, far too many mistakes lately for such a high profile and well paid job. If he has the courage to stand behind Poch, I can see him making a real long term difference to the club.}
