"We are getting news tonight that a big deal has been completed between Baldini and Valencia for the transfer of Soldado and may be bigger than most people think". More as we get it.
News now.
George

Believable9 Unbelievable5

Who are you quoting George?

Agree5 Disagree2

Just sign the man. absoloute class and just what the people need

Agree3 Disagree0

Yep your right I've just seen the pictures of baldini in valencia with solaldos agent. Looking good lads.

Agree4 Disagree2

Just seen a picture of Baldini sitting with another man (Soldados agent) discussing something. Source- 101 gr8 go*ls

Agree3 Disagree1

The Valencia board are believed to be meeting at noon tomorrow to discuss the bid thought to be £22. 33 million say local press who had pictures of Baldini and Toldra, Soldado's agent

Agree1 Disagree1

Apparently it will be €26million plus incentives. It takes it to the €30million they want.
Also rumours saying that we could be in for more than one player?
It's all rumours though at the moment. As was villa and benteke.
I'm not getting to sucked in just yet.

Agree2 Disagree2

He's quoting bjarne mate

Agree2 Disagree3

Liverpool have also matched our bid! If we pull this off I promise I will never have a bad word to say about again, I promise!

Agree3 Disagree1

Apparently the chairman of Valencia has told Marca radio that we are just a little way off what they want/what the buyout clause is and that negotiations will resume tomorrow. My guess is that we will announce his signing on Wednesday.

Agree2 Disagree1

Is his buy-out £25m or €25m, didn't think it was higher than the former. If Liverpool are matching that then Suarez is on his way out!
Simmo

Agree4 Disagree0

Hopefully Adebayor is going in the other direction. don't think there's a beach in valencia where he can lazy around but i'm sure he'd get the hang of it lol

Any possibility that Spurs are interested in John Guidetti or Edin Dzeko from Man City? Both would seem to fit well with the team as constructed.

Any chance Man City would sell to Spurs?

Believable2 Unbelievable6

Would personally love to see dzeko playing for us but cannot see City selling to us and even if they do sell will ask for a big fee. Would suit our play perfectly in my view.

Are City willing to sell Dzeko eds? {Ed052's Note - He was set to leave, but I think he is going to stay now. He's on high wages, so not much interest in him}

Agree4 Disagree1

Thanks ed. Here's hoping for Soldado so.

Agree4 Disagree1

Yo ed i'm hearing that arsenal have a deal in place for bernard a player I admire very very much please tell me there's no truth in this i'd be gutted if its true. {Ed001's Note - Wenger dismissed it as nonsense, so I will take his word on it as I don't have a clue.}

Agree6 Disagree0

Reports coming in that Baldini has agreed a fee with Valencia. Not sure if its true.

Agree2 Disagree0

Can we get guidetti to replace kane and obika? At least guidetti knows how to find the net. maybe 5-9m would do it and I think could be an excellent sub

Ed's, any interest in Lisandro Lopez? I thought I had read he wanted to leave Lyon. He is 30 years old now, so perhaps this is why he is not being tracked?

~Croatian Yid {Ed001's Note - I am not sure whether he was wanting to leave or it was mixed reports with the other Lisandro Lopez that signed for Benfice (I think) this summer. There was certainly a few enquiries for him, Fiorentina, before they turned to Mario Gomez, and Atletico are the only clubs I know have shown interest. Though I did read a statement, which I can't find now anywhere, from the club talking about multiple enquiries. I can't say that I have heard anything of interest from Spurs though.}

Believable1 Unbelievable1

Benfica signed a different Lisandro Lopez; the young centre-back. {Ed001's Note - I know, I did say other Lisandro Lopez mate. What I meant was, I am not sure whether they were both looking to move, or if I was just getting mixed up on hearing Lisandro Lopez was moving to Benfica. It can get confusing at times, there are so many names thrown at you constantly, they do get muddled up. I used to keep notes, but I couldn't keep them straight so just gave up.}

Agree1 Disagree0

Two Lisandro Lopez's, two Moussaka Dembele's I understand how confusing it can get. Thank's for your input.

~Croatian Yid

PS saw the Mirror is now reporting possibility of Spurs signing Lopez, although I guess it was just a matter of time before they speculation moved to him. {Ed001's Note - Moussa Dembele had me completely confused last year, you signed him, then Fulham signed him. I had to check the date of the report to make sure it wasn't an old one about his original signing before I read it. They shouldn't be allowed the same name as each other, it makes things so much more difficult!}

Just seen on tv transfer news page
Reports coming through claiming that Tottenham's sporting director Franco Baldini is in Valencia today, fuelling claims that talks are continuing to sign striker Roberto Soldado.

Spurs for ever

Believable1 Unbelievable3

Just seen this myself.

I really hope we sign Soldado. & a left back.

This would be a great transfer window by Levi & Co

Albeit the window should close prior to the 1st game of the season (Thats only my opinion)

Agree3 Disagree2

As much as I would love this to be true, after the David villa and benteke stuff, I'm taking everything I read with a pinch of salt.
He is probably no where near Spain if the other transfer info has anything to go by.

Agree1 Disagree2

We don't need another left-back. We have both benny and Rose. And a future LB in zeki fryers. Only thing we need is a striker.

Agree5 Disagree3

But both Benny and rose ain't good enough!

Agree4 Disagree2

Rose played really well in Sunderland last season I think. And Benny may not have played so good but he have to stay put because I just love that man. He is so cool.
And IF they don't playing, just put verthongen on the left and kaboul and daws in centre.
We will have a really good team if just a striker comes in. And it will.

Agree2 Disagree0

Leave Vert where he is! Keep Benny because he is cool??? God help us please. And yes, Rose had a good season in a crap team, so did Bentenke, doesn't make him any good either!

Hi Eds,

Any truth in the reports that Baldini is in Valencia now to negotiate the transfer of Soldado?

Thanks,

Dom {Ed001's Note - apparently he is, I have tried asking me parents, who retired to Spain, to pop over and check he really is there. They didn't seem impressed with that idea and suggested I go forth and multiply! It is not like they are doing anything else, the lazy gets have retired, I try and find them something to keep them occupied and get abuse for it! No helping some people.}

Believable3 Unbelievable0

Shocking! How dare they try to enjoy their retirement? I don't know, some people eh?!

Thanks for the help Ed. Much apprecaited.

Dom {Ed001's Note - a nice little day trip, a quick 6 hour drive and they would be there. They are just selfish if you ask me!}

Agree0 Disagree0

Now that's commitment from the eds and also gave me a chuckle.

Hi Eds,

Any update on us signing Fábio Coentrão. ?
I guess we need to start off loading first. ?
On that note who is interested in BAE. ? {Ed001's Note - I thought Chadli was instead of him? As for BAE, he is proving difficult to shift, he is too open about not being interested in the game, making silly public comments about not knowing who players are etc. It is not a good attitude and doesn't exactly make people want him at their club. I would expect him to go later on, when other clubs turn to him as a back up option after selling someone late in the window, personally.}

Believable3 Unbelievable1

Fábio Coentrão is a left back that a can do a job in midfield if needed, chadli is a out and out attacking player who prefers playing on the left but can play any where behind the striker. They are nothing like each other so surely were still looking at left backs? {Ed001's Note - he was a winger who was moved back due to a lack of left backs for his country, then played so well he ended up staying there. He can play as a winger though, I was under the impression he was being chased for that position. I am sorry if I was mistaken, only I was also told Rose was staying to be the option at left back.}

Agree0 Disagree0

He played left back at benfica {Ed001's Note - he did honestly start out as a left winger, I saw him play and had him pointed out to me as a star of the future while on the wing, a long while ago now. Damn I feel old now!}

Agree1 Disagree0

They have bought him for the wings! As avb said he can play anywhere across the front! Lb?? No one has ever mentioned him as lb

reports saying that jams McCarthy is keen on a move to us and has even been house hunting in London, good player but Wigan want 20m and wouldn't pay that for him

Believable5 Unbelievable3

I bet he's keen on a move to spurs from wigan. Unfortunately won't be happening and a 110 % no at that price.

Agree3 Disagree1

Doubt it very much, we just signed a winger yesterday.

Tom

Agree1 Disagree2

Happy at up to £8m as looks a very good prospect and there's always a premium on home-grown players but £20m! No way.
Simmo

Agree3 Disagree1

Would like to see him at the Lane and IMO think he is worth £9-11m but never £20m

Agree4 Disagree0

Tom I didn't think mccarthy was an out and out winger. thought he was down the middle type of a guy

How the hell are we considering McCarthy @ around 15-20m, when we should be going all out to sign Christian Erikson for the same money? Eds, can you shed any light on the erikson situation please?

Scottie essex {Ed001's Note - he wants to go to Spain and has repeatedly talked about that in the media. Clubs are wary of signing a player like him, one who can't keep his mouth shut and will only be using them as a stepping stone. Personally I wouldn't go near him, better to get players you can build around.}

Agree1 Disagree1

Hes a very good player but at £20mil would rather see carroll being used more but suppose we do need more cover, no more than £12mil and maybe through in a player like harry kane

Agree1 Disagree1

I would agree with all posters that McCarthy isn't worth the 20m, more like 8-9m with maybe livermore thrown in as he looked really good last season, also on the striker front everyone shouting for saldado but with age ( 28 ) can any of you see us signing him? me thinks not with the way levy operates, I like the look of remy had some good games last year in a poor QPR

Agree1 Disagree0

Remy was of interest before at much bigger prices, now he's going to be relatively cheap you'd think he'll definitely be of interest again. However, isn't his court case after the window shuts? Another gamble that you wouldn't think many would take, including Levy.
Simmo

Agree0 Disagree0

Apparently we are in for Remy in the last few days.
