After watching todays game, there are plenty of positives to take from the match. We were the better side, we played some decent stuff. 2 flashes of brilliance from Ba and Ben Arfa won the game for them. Friedel had nothing to do but pick the ball out of the next twice. Newcastle is a tough place to go and alot of teams will come away with nothing this season. A couple of strikers and a Modric replacement by end of month and who knows what we can acheive this season. Lloris, Moutinho, Llorente and Adebayor would be nice.

Believable14 Unbelievable5

Out of your list, only ade

Agree5 Disagree6

Sad but I think you're probably right. I'd give your left nut for Llorente.

Agree12 Disagree1

I didn't see too many positivers just one poor team losing to a poorer one. We need to do a lot better than that going forward. The only real positive was that it was the first game and AVB has hardly had a balanced squad to work with pre season. The negative is that unless we add a few players we will struggle this season

Agree5 Disagree4

I tend to agree with the fact there were some real positives after the game and the shape/organisation of the side was very good. No doubt about it we were the better side! That said where were our flashes of brilliants? The fact is we need a creative midfielder and a striker before the window shuts or forget top 4!! Defo worked hard and done ok but I personally don't think he is the answer and the sooner Ade is signed up the better...

Agree4 Disagree1

Toon fan in peace. You were the better team first half no doubt on that but we were better 2nd half due to tactical changes by us. In truth we both need to add to our squads to really push on.As long as we both finish in the top 6 I will be happy.Good luck for rest of the season except for when we meet again.kip.

Everyone can see today wot we are missing.

Levy, open your eyes.

Even gillem balague(spelling) has posted that llorente would be happy to come to us.
It is up to levy now. If he doesn't sign a quality striker, then we have every right to scream like f.ck.
Might gut feeling is, our main striker will be ade, then defo, then Kane.
Then kiss top 4 away.
4th is up for grabs again, like last year.
Arsenal, bin dippers and us in a scrap.

Believable6 Unbelievable2

I'm gonna give levy until the end of the transfer window before I start calling for his head. I think he (hope) he will make a big £20m+ marquee signing, but he's still levy. He'll wait until as late as possible to try and save as much. It's a risky strategy as we all know but youve got to appreciate that we're in a position where that's the only way we can do business. We aren't a massively wealthy club and funds are being used for the new stadium. Patience is the key, my dear friend.

Agree5 Disagree1

What about Newcastle? they did just beat us and no doubt will finish top 6 again.

Agree5 Disagree3

Patience? We haven't won the Cup for 20 years and we haven't won the League for over 50 years! How much bloody patience do you want? Levys machoman transfer technique cost us 3 points yesterday as we were crying out for a striker with a physical presence up front and this isn't the first time we've gone into a season understaffed because of Levy and it is amateurish, can you imagine Utd starting a season without the necessary personnel up front? The excuse of needing to sell Modric before buying doesn't was either, even Woolwich Wanderers bought in 2 International strikers for decent sized fees BEFORE they sold RVP and they aren't exactly known for throwing money around recklessly these days. Levy must go!

Agree5 Disagree0

But woolwich bought podolski and giroud, then you say they don't go throwing money around.
Contradicted yourself there I think.

Agree2 Disagree4

Thats exactly my point, South London Rovers don't usually chuck the cash about but they learnt from their mistakes last season when they sold Nasri and Clichet late and had to scramble for replacements which meant they went into the season underprepared. This season they recognised that RVP was going, they got 2 replacements in relatively early in the transfer window in the knowledge they would get 20-25m for RVP which meant they had plenty of preseason to gel with new team-mates.Any signings we do make will be coming in with no pre-season with us.Even if Levy does get a higher price than if he'd sold earlier that will be wiped out by the fact that any club we buy from will know we are a bit desperate with end of transfer window coming and will ramp up their selling price. Like I said, Levys transfer policy leaving us underprepared for new season and he has to go.

Agree0 Disagree0

Why are you lot not calling them Arsenal? It looks childish and pathetic

Agree1 Disagree0

Everyone knows you need stability to achieve anything at a club - unless you can throw Russian Billions at it!
Those calling for Levy's head are the fickle fans that every club has to put up with. Levy has done wonders for Spurs, just remember where we were when he took over. In the last three seasons we've finished 4th, 5th & 4th - we've not done that since the 60's!
Most of the cr*p I read on here is negative b*llrubbish and the people that post it are not supporters! And if you're going to come back and say those league finishes were down to Redknapp and know one else, I'll simply ask you who put Redknapp in charge!!
Get behind your team and be proper supporters, yes it's good to have opions but calling for change every 5 minutes is pathetic and simply shows your lack of intelligence.

at Kieron, listen sunshine. I went to my first WHL game in 1981 and have spent a fortune since following Spurs home and away through thick and thin (usually bloody thin) so I dont need the likes of you telling me I'm not a real fan. If you think Levy is so wonderful just answer these questions.

1. Was undermining a good manager and an honourable man who loved THFC like Matin Jol and replacing him with a foreign manager who couldn't speak a word of English a good move?

2. Was selling Berbatov so late in the Summer 2008 transfer window that we couldn't get sufficient replacements (Fraizer Campbell ffs!) a good move?

3. Is going into a season AGAIN without a strikeforce of sufficent quality and depth a good move?

I would suggest the answer to all 3 of these questions is no and that Levy has been responsible in every case it's not unreasonable to want him out.

Agree0 Disagree0

Firstly 'sunshine', at least spell my name right - it's there for you at the end of my post. (Now what was I said about intelligence!)
Secondly, if you've been a fan for so long, then you more than anyone shoild know that stability is the key. Yes, Levy has made mistakes, but are we in a better position now than when he was appointed? That is the only question that needs answering in my opinion.
My first game was back in the 70's when we in the old second division (I'm not trying to score points it's just relevant for the next bit) - I have never gone into a season with so much optimism as I have in the last few seasons. There a people who sit around me at games and grizzle all the way through it when things aren't going well - then we score a couple of goals and the worlds all good again and we're great. I'm guessing this might be you.
As my original post said, get behind your team and support. All this Levy out stuff is pure nonsense - other than a few mistakes, he's taken us in the right direction.

ED002 OR ED001 AVB said targets have been identified it is just now a matter if we can sign them who is he on about? {Ed002's Note - He needs strikers - Soldado has rejected the chance of a move to Spurs. Llorente has been of interest but will end up elsewhere. Damiao remains very unlikely. A bid for Andy Carroll would not surprise me. And Spurs have contacted Chelsea about Meireles. A goalkeeper is being sort but it appears it won't be Lloris.}

Believable1 Unbelievable3

I got a feeling spurs will put a bid in for butland

Ed what's goin on with huddlestone? He's been tweeting cryptic things an saying his fit but not in the squad...... {Ed008's Note - Maybe the manager doesn't see him in his squad i've seen the tweets i'm confused myself...

Believable1 Unbelievable1

Huddlestone is rubbish

Agree6 Disagree8

Vdv thudd and vertong should have been starters end of story
ou812

Agree8 Disagree4

Wasn't chuffed AVB appointed but give him a chance but VDV and Vertong on bench and Thudd fit and not in squad is that the chance over?
ou812

Agree6 Disagree4

Huddlestone and VDV don't have the mobility for AVB's system, a replacement for Modric and a big mobile frontman will see a different end product I'm sure. Vertonghen will be eased into his position, expect him to take over Gallas's position alongside Kaboul at some point. He wouldn't have made a difference today anyhow.

Agree2 Disagree1

Sorry but don't rate Hudd or Dawson,Jenas,Bentley,Bassong,Dos Santos or Gomes .Sell them and add it to Luka money.rumour of a late bid by chelski of 35+Sturridge and although don't really rate DS it is a great offer. We would have about 75ml if we sold all these.Enough to buy the better players we are looking.

Agree3 Disagree1

Terrible decision not to have a top qiuality player like Hudd in the squad, we lacked the qualities he brings
Hopefully after watching the poor display yesterday AVB will bring him into the team

Ed , do you know if there is any chance of ''the hunter " playing at the lane this season ? Or have any eds got any ITK. about spurs transfers ?

Thanks

Jay-B-13
{Ed008's Note - He's a good striker can hold up the line and goal scoring record says it all maybe VDV can have a word with him, i think theirs interest but i believe the club are looking at other strikers.

Believable2 Unbelievable2

More chance of him playing at plough lane, why on earth would a world class striker want to play for spurs?

Agree2 Disagree5

Why dont you ask lineker,klinsmann,greaves,berbatov?
b/s

Agree4 Disagree1

See first comment kept his team quiet

Agree1 Disagree1

Well he's at schalke atm and iv heard from a German schlake supporting friend that schalke would only want 20 m euros for him , don't know if he has any sources but vdv and him up tol would be just lethal. And I'm not 100% on this but ain't he a spurs fan ?

Jay-B-13

Agree2 Disagree1

Berbatov? lol

Agree1 Disagree2

Dont forget big Teddy! top class striker played for us

Some tweets from Guillem Ballague:
Athletic wants 36m euros of Llorente's buy out clause. Player happy to go to Spurs. If not sold FCB and Real will fight for him in January

Also

Chelsea have made another approach for Modric willing to offer 40m+. Levy delaying deal with Madrid after agreeing fee, but modric wants to go to Real

The soldado offer was made during last week and not old news. We are definately after Leandro and Llorente

Believable4 Unbelievable2

To be honest tho he is probably just speculating as Chelski already have a quality player in Hazard...

Agree1 Disagree0

How do you know chavs will make that offer?
I reckon levy trying to squeeze more money

Andre Villas-Boas has ruled out signing Rennes midfielder Yann M'Vila
He is an interesting player, but I don't think he will join Tottenham. He is a rather defensive player.
"We are looking for a more creative player. I won't lie. There was an interest from us in that player, but now we are looking at different options."

In other words hes joining Arsenal next week

I'm assuming the deal is done with rm and tottenham for modric... So what is the delay and y....
1. Is it that real what's to off load some1 1st
2. We want to find a replacement 1st
Who knows
Mr g

Deal is pending on us finding a replacement

Thx

I think levy is moving the goalposts. Watch, maybe a player in return as our replacements don't wanna come for levys fiver.

does anyone know why the modric deal is taking so long to go through. Someone I know with links to chelsea have said they have came in with a bigger bid than Real and Levy is stalling the deal. Modric wants to go to Real. Anyone else know anything?

Another season starting and AGAIN we have failed to buy that quality striker that we so desperately need 3/4/5 seasons now?. I was amazed we bought Gilfi Sigurdsson and Jan Vertonghen so quickly, it put that false hope in me yet again...

The Drama this time is we only have JD as our recognised striker, don't get me wrong I think he is quality but to go the whole season alone!! (Kane hasn't impressed me yet and Coulibaly won't be given a chance just yet...

So what is going on? No so called investment and no impressive transfer kitty? It's the same old story, we need to sell before we can buy(Modric). So what has happened to all that money from previous transfers? and WHEN are we going to see true commitment from the board?

DL needs to invest and stop all this petty quibbling for a few extra pounds, it is costing any real chance of challenging for the title...

I get the feeling HR was sacked as he showed REAL ambition, not the false dawn we are being led upon...

foxspur

Believable9 Unbelievable2

Harry was sacked because he couldn't keep his big trap shut and because he didn't care about the long-term health of the club. If he were still in charge, we'd have brought in Frankie Lampard, Drogba and Joe Cole (who he wanted last year).

I didn't particularly want AVB but I'm glad to be shot of Harry.

Agree5 Disagree6

Yep tend to agree, Harry wanted some quality players in but Levy didn't want to cough up the money. Looking back I can see where Harry was coming from when he made his "this is as good as it gets" remark. Looks like he was saying I can't take the club any further unless we can add a couple of quality players, he was as frustrated as we are

Agree6 Disagree0

That is how I have interpreted the info that we have seen come across, it's a shame but true...
