There is talk Southampton want Townsend, in the media arena so basically reading between the lines Southampton will sell if they get Townsend, its a no brainer for me . They can have him for me not a team player schiniderlin offers more for spurs allows others to play Townsend stops others playing because he doesn't pass, keeps the ball to long wants glory everytime instead of hitting the byline and crossing the ball for others like soldado adebyour who have poor goal tallies lack of service even Lennon service record is poor .anyway I'd swap for schnderlin
£10m bid rejected. Levy playing hard ball I presume over Schneiderlin. I think it is a good price for him but I think they are right to reject it unless they play ball with MS!
I hope he stays. Whilst he is pretty unpredictable he at least has the potential to be a match winner and could go on to be a pretty good player. It's not like we have abundance of pace in the squad or an abundance of wingers!
Try to get £12 mil cash for Townsend and put it towards a bid for Memphis Depay.

I reckon Townsend is worth keeping, he could be amazing if he becomes more of a team player.
Is Depay getable, if so the question is Townsend or Depay?
Teach Townsend to pass and cross and he is just what's needed . Trouble is, he thinks he is Bale .
I don't know why everybody goes on about Bale so much. Yes he was great but as the team ended up just being centred around him when he left we were left in dis-array hence the current situation. We need a solid team, not another Bale

The reports suggest Memphis Depay will not move this summer;
Seems Mr Guilet and Van Gaal have both advised him against a Spurs move - if true,
Who would could replace Townsend?
Personally I think he deserves more time
Don't think anyone said we wanted another bale, just Townsend thinks he is Bale, which he never will be . The sooner he remembers how to pass and cross the ball, not shoot on sight, the sooner we will benefit!
Davo I understand what you are saying and I agree with you to a certain extent but how many times did our stats read last season 60% possession, 10 shots on goal, 2 shots on target etc. it's all good and well keeping possession and spreading the ball about but it's so frustrating when there's an opening to shoot and they play a square ball. As frustrating and selfish Townsend is at least he has a go, if he can combine that eagerness to shoot with a bit more team play and crossing then we mght see a few more goals for him and his team mates. That being said I would take Schneiderlin over him anyday, for someone who didn't want to play for Sputhampton or wasn't in the right fame of mind then he looked pretty good to me against Liverpool
I agree Craigh, I don't see some of the fans issues with Townsend your right he has a go, that's what got him into the England team. Like I said before I have concerns over Lamela. I would play Townsend over Lamela from what I see at Upton Park the weekend.
Ok Craigh, agree there! Can we get someone to get him to cross when it's best, and shoot when he can . It's frustrating because he is a winger and wingers are there to get to the line and cross the bloody ball! If it was me I would give him and 8 mill to Southampton!
Davo - There is other players that should go before Townsend. we didn't play that type of football under AVB. He'll be better playing in a team with pace all over the pitch, furthermore to cross a ball you need someone to aim at. We hardly had anyone in the box playing under AVB.
I bet MoPo gets him playing better providing he's still at Spurs.

Some of the papers seem to be reporting that we are in with a shout of signing Eto'o as a free? Anyone know if there is any truth to this? I would be pretty pleased if there was!

Oh I was saying that I would be pleased. I don't think he is long term for moving the club forward but at the moment we don't have one consistent proven striker in the team. Based on last seasons stats we must have one of the worst strike combinations in the league! If we don't get anyone in I will be really worried for top 6
Spot on Davo. If true it has the distinct whiff of a penny pinching Levy deal. Mopo needs proper backing and that means standards a lot higher than Eto.

Some way or another he has to be heading out of the lane. He doesn't start, doesn't even seem to come on from the bench, we need to get rid of some players, he must have a high wage bill and there seem to be offers for him on the table. I would love it if he suddenly burst into life and stayed at the lane but I think that it's probably best for all involved to just cut the losses
If we let Soldado go he will start nagging left right and centre. we need to stop playing negative one up front formations. the game on sat could have been any game from the AVB/Sherwood debacle
