can anyone see VDV and Sig playing in the same team on a pitch at the same time?surely VDV might take Modrics place till a replacement is found and Sig playing with the striker or visa versa. but once a replacement s found - whats going to happen? any thoughts??

Believable3 Unbelievable2

I half suspect once the Modric saga is over and replacement signed VDV may be heading to Germany

just putting the 2 together, Sahin agent said that he should be moving by the end of the week (before season) Modric deal hasnt gone through just yet and Sahin has moved either. we might of missed out on Ramirez, surely coz Sahin might be coming our way. jez if levy pulls both Sahin and Ramirez in, we would have a very exciting team - the striker situation.

Believable2 Unbelievable3

Sahn wants CL football but supposedly has been linked with Liverpool. I think he's headed for Arse**** myself

Agree3 Disagree0

We don't and havent needed Ramirez because he plays in the same position as VDV and Gylfi - he wouldn't be a modric replacement even if we could sign him

Adebayor deal done second striker either Carroll or sturridge. I'd take them both! Good chance, Weil get Stephen Ireland to replace modders.

10

Believable4 Unbelievable9

Stephen Ireland to replace Modders? two hopes of that and Bob is dead, no chance of Carroll or Sturridge either

Agree3 Disagree2

How can you say that we want Stephen Ireland? He can't even make the villa starting line up!

Agree4 Disagree1

He hit form end of last season, you forget how good he was for city before takeover

10

Agree3 Disagree4

I think the above poster forgot how poor he was after

Please Please Please let the Caroll rumour NOT be true!!

Also Jol confirmed today that a prem club put a "very low" bid for Dembele which was rejected, that's got Levy wrote all over it surely? For me Dembele would be a great addition, sign him!

Believable8 Unbelievable5

Ideal! Somebody with the same views as me!! The guy is class!

Agree2 Disagree1

Believe it or not, it was Man U that put in the "very low bid".

Flippit

Agree4 Disagree1

Dembele would be a great signing please pull this 1 off mr levy.

Hearing on twiter both Damiao and Moutinho are in london?

Believable2 Unbelievable7

Leandro was on a flight to Brazil yesterday so there's no chance he'll have returned today

Agree3 Disagree0

If they both sign, I will streak at the next home game !! We are more likly to get Sturridge and Dembelle

Agree5 Disagree1

Mouthino is def going to sign, everyone playing it down saying he wont sign cause to expensive so that means he wii be a spurs player by end of month trust me and wont be surprised if Llorente is also bought. now i would be a happy bunny.

AMD

Agree3 Disagree3

You can keep Damiao he's average at best

Ade to sign after the newcastle game. Andy Carroll is a £15m target and I can see him signing before the end of the window.
Gio to have a big role this season.

Believable3 Unbelievable7

The problem I find with GIO now is if we were to play him and he did really well ie shone like he does at international level .... He will just leave for free ... Obviously not saying we shouldn't *cut nose to spite face* etc but it just bugs me he's not been used more and feels he just wants out ?
Bear yid

Agree3 Disagree1

Give Gio his chance nearly every Spurs fan has a feeling he will do really well and the Gio swap for the ageing keeper Cesar rumour is Horendous
ou812

Agree2 Disagree2

Have seen so many posts on here re dos santos not wanting him to go, and if I'm honest I haven't seen him much other than the European games on tv over the last couple of seasons, but frankly heather mills is more 2 footed than he is. If anyone remembers dumitrescu we all know where that leads.
Frankly if we can get any more than 6-7 mill for him I'd get shot
Thoughts.....?

Guys what's your opinion on Naughton signing a new deal ? Will be kept now to pressure both BAE and Walker for a spot as he can play both sides and what would this mean for rose ?
Or would naughton and rose be used on either flank in Europa and cup games ?

I was training today with a goalkeeper coach from spurs, and i asked him about the rumours. He said that the rumour going round at spurs lodge is that Modric deal has been agreed with Real Madrid and could possibly be announced tomorrow. He said the fee could be in the region of £36 million, but said that figure could have been exaggerated slightly. Also, a deal for Adebayor could go through soon as he was actually on the American Tour with the team but just didn't feature in any of the games.
I asked him about Damiao and he said there hasn't been any rumours on him or anyone else, but said that AVB is looking for another striker as well as Big Manu.

The Sledgehammer

Believable6 Unbelievable5

Ade on the US Tour? I don't think so unless he was in hiding. I was at one of the training sessions, specifically the Baltimore session and I didn't see Ade hanging around. And frankly, why would he be traveling with the squad if he wasn't on the squad.....doesn't make much sense if you ask me.

I was speaking to one of the soccer Saturday pundits this morning ( I work in a hotel) and was talking about the spurs striker situation and his words were ....
" Andy Carroll , I am giving you a tip there"

shorty

Believable2 Unbelievable4

I really would hate to see the overrated Andy Carrol at the Lane...He is rubbish

Agree3 Disagree3

Would prefer Carroll to Ade to be honest but also would prefer Huntelaar to both of them
put together
ou812

Agree6 Disagree2

Short on truth AND immagination there, Shorty...

Agree1 Disagree2

We put a bid for him before he went to Liverpool didnt we. When he played for Newcastle i thought he was class, but then at Liverpool he looked terrible - if we got Ade would we need another big guy up front? Prefer Damiao

Agree0 Disagree1

I would prefer ade to Carroll but I would prefer carrol to nobody. I have to say I'm not convinced that we would go for Carroll, doesn't really seem like an avb signing

Agree2 Disagree1

I reckon we are waiting on ade and maybe someone else expect a aug 31st bid for carroll if no better deals come of
mattyid

Agree1 Disagree1

Thers alot of better strikers out their then carrol but i do think he would be decent for us..if he gets the ball quickly and directly he and defoe could be what we need up front
DAPZ

Agree0 Disagree1

But to be fair to carrol he doesnt get good deliverys into the box where as at spurs and with the likes of bale and lennon he could get a few there

First timer on here, what are peoples view on the option of taking Dempsey as a striking option, had a great season last year and would suit our play also we really need to streghten here and quickly. {Ed007's Note - Welcome to the site.}

Believable4 Unbelievable4

I've been thinking this for a while, he would be a good addition but he is not really an out and out striker (bit like vdv and Sig) so I think we would need a main striker as well

Agree1 Disagree1

I think it would be a good piece of business. He clearly wants to leave, will be available for a decent price and can add competition up front and in the wide attacking positions. Would certainly add a different element to the side, we don't really have a midfielder who's strength lies in off the ball movement into the box. Only worry would be his age.

Agree1 Disagree2

Should we try with Loic Remy again?

Agree2 Disagree3

Aye welcome to posting hell : )
But Dempsey as a striking option with Sigs and VDV I don't think we need him to be fair
Bear yid

Agree1 Disagree1

Dempsey is not a striker and not a great player either although granted he had a good season last season, not a player I'd want at WHL though

Agree0 Disagree1

I think we should have put a cheeky bid in for Jelavic

Mk1

Agree2 Disagree0

Just heard that he refused to play for Fulham any more. Although I think he would be quite a good signing for us as he played as a Striker for Fulham and bagged 17 goals, I am apprehensive as he REFUSED to play. Lowered my opinion in a way but at 29 he would cost between 8-12 mill IMO..

What does the ED's think?

By the way Welcome to the site.... {Ed008's Note - I think he wants a move to Liverpool more however money talks...

Rumours of Meireles joining soon, what do u think ed or anyone else, i though not a bad player and a better player then jj or hud hes not world class but will fill the hole? and we can not get much better as need to spend our money on strikers?

Believable3 Unbelievable4

No no no please he is really bad defo not better than a fully fit huddlestone we cant waste money and he certainly would be i still think we might sign moutinho what do you think ed

Agree1 Disagree2

I am absolutely stumped how selling Modric; and signing Meireles could ever help us move forward..?
a). Surely we need a player as good as or better to replace - or b). Use an existing squad player to replace Modric and bring in a wide player..
I do not see Meireles as either.. so this is just AVB bringing in somebody he pals with = pointless.
Would prefer Dempsey!

Agree1 Disagree2

Chelsea fan not looking for trouble. AVB loves him so if he does join expect AVB to play him week in week out. All i can say is he is decent, surprisingly works quite hard but cant tackle, his passing is hit and miss but he will score the odd screamer. I wouldnt miss him if he left but he would do a job for you guys
Ruuuuud

Agree3 Disagree2

Yeah seems we cant compete with southampton now, do we really need to wait for the modders money to get new players, if so what happened to the 100 million we had to spend. us yods are having the wool pulled over our eyes again, spurs in for everyone and getting none.we need strikers NOW!

Agree2 Disagree1

Unless were parking the bus we dont need anymore midfielders
ou812

Agree1 Disagree1

I rate him, think he's a good player. But the real question here is should we spend money on a player that's not better than we already have? NO!!

Just seen on ssn that Ramirez is going to Southampton? Wtf is Levy doing?

Believable3 Unbelievable0

Ramirez is joining Southampton cause he wants 1st team action we could not guarantee this, refreshing to see a youngster wanting to play rather than just taking the money good luck to him hope he has a fantastic season also think the lack of playing time for Gio made his mind up not to sign for us
ou812

Agree1 Disagree1

How many holding midfielders do you want......
Mr g

Agree1 Disagree1

Quote on Talksport, Ramirez said when asked why he joined Southamptom "I could not refuse, they are paying me SO MUCH MONEY!".
You really want that person? Wanting money is one thing, blatantly having no concept of PR or humility is the sign of a dumbass player. (I dream of the days of 11 proper high IQ intelligent footballers on one team. Sounds implausible doesn't it? But imagine...)

Agree1 Disagree2

Ramirez woudnt replace modric anyway..he plays behind the striker like vdv and Glyfi.....we dont need ramirez

Levy is in advanced talks with at least 4 clubs about brining in new players and another 3 clubs about moving players on. the clubs he is talking too, about bringing players in are lyon, porto, benfica and 1 spanish club but have been told 2 different teams, but is only talking to 1. the clubs that he is dealing with abput selling players too, are fulham, qpr and west brom. expect jenas to go to fulham, bentley to qpr and bassong to west brom. it has also been wishpered around the ground that hudd has been offered the chance to go out on loan until christmas to get some much needed playing time after missing most of last season, it is rumoured that he ay go to norwich

Have heard that ade will sign for spurs begining of next week. live up in manchester and have heard that all of his belongings have been moved out of his place and are being moved to his old place in london.

Believable1 Unbelievable2

Perhaps he saw your mate casing the joint & moved it out before he went with us on the U.S.tour! Just guessing! Lol

Alot of rumors circulating about possible Modric replacements, Mireles is the latest. Could see this as a cheaper option to Moutinho. Any one else think that this could be a good bit of business?

Would like to think with our current squad though and Vertonghens recent Midfield outing for Belgium a replacement is not needed and i would rather use the money on strikers.

Believable3 Unbelievable3

17 Aug 2012 12:13:04
No rumour... just my thoughts... surely for a relatively cheap solution to our striker crisis Jordan Rhodes could be a good solution with little risk? Young, and a fantastic finisher... watched for Scotland the other night and looks like a real prospect... could be a good foil for Ade if he comes back... Thoughts?

Believable8 Unbelievable5

Wanted us to sign him sice i first saw him last year. going to be a top stiker. would say its worth a risk

Haymaker

Agree3 Disagree1

Agreed, get him in as back up with defoe to a more experience finisher!

Any news on defoe safc fan here and safc have been linked

Believable3 Unbelievable2

Think its just paper talk as avb has said defoe is a part of his plans, and to be honest unless we sign 2 more strikers cant see defoe going as we would be short.

Agree1 Disagree1

AVB has promised JD a crucial role at the Lane but JD is waiting to see what striking options are brought in. I believe his first choice is to stay obviously, otherwise Sunderland/West Ham would be his destination depending who would pay £8 mill approx.

Hope that helps...

Agree1 Disagree1

How on earth u think theres any truth in this? I mean he's our only forward! Maybe Jan window! Not now sfc

Leandro Damiao's offer of £11m was rejected by Internacional, but significant development on Thursday saw a more suitable fee being proposed. Giovanni Luigi is far more receptive of the latest terms, and the final deal will be annouced next week. Whilst we are talking strikers, the terms for the Adebayor contract have also been agreed, and he will join imminently.

The Luka Modric deal looks to have finaly come to fruition. The total fee seems closer to £36m when you calculate the add-ons. This will provide the much needed funds to secure a quality replacement. Moutinho seems the likely man to fill the void left by Modric, but this deal is anything but finalised.

With Gomes being brokered all over Europe, there is a chance Lloris could materialize before the lights go out. Sadly and more worringly AVB is entertaining Massimo Moratti's part excange offer for Dos Santos. This seems hellish business as I am totally convinced Dos Santos wil mature this year or next into a superstar. On the Cesar front I simply dont get it, why sign another patchy Brazilian GK when we have a better one in Gomes. Lets hope we get £7m for Dos Santos as is being discussed, and if we can steal Cesar for £2-3m then if would feel a little easier to swallow.

Try to be a little but more optimistic as we deliver the materials to get the job done.

Words escape me...... Jesus!

Agree2 Disagree2

A well written article. Thank you Oracle. I'm still hoping you are correct as far as Damiao is concerned.

Flippit.

Agree2 Disagree2

Why would Leandro Damiao offer 11m to Internacional? regardless, the chances of Damiao to Spurs now are slim to none. Team suggestions for tomorrow? Can't see three up top, maybe we will stick to 4:4:2 with VDV and Defoe up front backed by Bale, Sandro, Siggs, Lennon. Which would be nice!

Agree2 Disagree2

Any news on the Olympic stadium now the 4 x 400 metre relay is finished oracle??

Agree1 Disagree2

I see Oracle has escaped again.

Agree2 Disagree1

The Olympic Stadium will enter a total fresh selection process in the coming months. Ridicule the suggestion more please, because when we move there I will remember I was alone in my prediction.

The Oracle

Agree1 Disagree1

Oracle -
If your predictions come true, as soon as i see your gloating (which would be earned if happens) i will post congratulating you and I will eat humble pie for ever doubting you. Of this you and all the readers of this site have my word.
I must ask though - my stance on the Olympic Stadium is well known, you are obviously pro moving there, so do have some insider knowledge on The Olympic Stadium, or is it just a gut feeling? I am truly interested in hearing your stance.

Just seen Llorrente at Heathrow, news all over twiter {Ed008's Note - It's funny cos im on twitter now and it's NOT all over twitter and he's not at Heathrow!

Believable5 Unbelievable4

Why even bother? If your going to make it up make it believable.

Agree3 Disagree3

We know Levy will not spend big, so he at least should of appointed Gaurdiola as manager to make a real go of what we have.Avb's highline is going to be risky.
