Madrid set to appoint Ancelotti and PSG set to trigger AVB's release clause

Believable7 Unbelievable14

They might trigger his release clause but doesn't mean he will go.
He will be spurs manager come season start.

Agree9 Disagree10

Even if a release clause is triggered that just means the club have to accept it. It is still up to the individual whether they take the offer or not {Ed002's Note - A "release clause" is not legally binding.}

Agree3 Disagree1

I believe avb will stay, after what happened at Chelsea he needs some stability, it wouldn't look good managing 4 clubs in 4 seasons and as he has won no trophies in England his time in England wouldn't be deemed a success

Agree7 Disagree2

ED002 you are wrong - A release clause is basically a contract between the parties. Therefore, release clauses are governed by the law of contracts. This means that a final agreement in a release clause is legally binding on the parties.

However whilst being legally binding at club level, the player would technically still need to agree personal terms. In addition the club triggering the legal right to buy that player, could get gazumped if another superior bid was lodged by another club. {Ed002's Note - You have misunderstood something although this is a horribly complex area so it is understandable. I will summarise. The "buy out" clause is legally binding between a club and a player. The "buy out" is effectively what it says - a means for the player to buy himself out of the contract. As an example, if a player wishes to buy himself out of a contract, he pays the applicable FA the amount of the "buy out" clause effectively becoming a free agent. The problem is that in most cases a player would need to obtain that money from the buying club - and this is fraught with issues regarding "tapping up" and, of course, taxation as it can be seen as income for the player and would therefore be subject to income tax. There was a test case about the taxation issue in Spain about three years ago.

A "release clause" is far more common in that it gives a figure that the club would accept for the sale of a player to another club - but it is not legally binding. These are normally unreasonably high figures (Hulk at Porto for example) introduced to act as a deterrent for hostile bids - and even then the club could easily block a move. However, if a club does agree to match a release clause then the club would be obliged to ask the player if he is interested. Examples are Goetze who decide he wanted to move and Cavani who, regardless of two offers were made that matched or equated to his then "release clause" recognised Napoli did not sell and accepted a new package. Now of course Napoli say they will listen to offers above €60M or so.

There is then the becoming popular "termination clause" which is binding between the player and the club and if met would see an offer from anywhere accepted and the player given the opportunity to make a call on a move. This overcomes the issues associated with "buy out" clauses as the money would be paid by one club to another. This is what Malaga are trying to agree with Isco. Malaga are looking to have Isco sign a new long-term contract because they do fear a move for the player this month. Malaga wanted 21M euros and have now negotiated an increase in a termination clause to 42M euros (€35M for the transfer and €7M covering some other costs), using a pay rise to tempt the player to agree.}

Spurs have offered Valencia 7m for Soldado. Other targets are Bernard after we ended talks with Psv for Mertens and Paulinho.

Believable9 Unbelievable7

Loads of reports worldwide from Italy to brazil saying we are very close with Bernard and paulinho and damaio is all agreed (wages/fee) but working on a work permit.

Agree8 Disagree11

Paulinho is a done deal and Bernard is close.

Agree7 Disagree8

PS £7m for Soldado could be true, it's the sort of offer we'd make when the tag is £20m, the possible end-price is £15m and the bargain price would be £10-12m.

With all the forward we have been linked with, the one that nobody has mentioned, is sandra redknapp, according to harry she could be a better player than darren bent, think she would be a cheaper option than some of the forwards we have been linked with. ha ha. barb {Ed008's Note - According to my sources she's in negotation with the club over a 3 year deal however the club are only interested in giving a pay as you play contract...

Believable2 Unbelievable3

No chance were not letting our young players go theses days

Hi eds, was wondering if you have any more information regarding either Erickson or Snejder coming to spurs, are we still interested?

Essex yod {Ed002's Note - I don't know of interest in Sneijder from Spurs but there is interest in Eriksen - don't hold your breath though.}

Believable3 Unbelievable4

The interest in Eriksen was genuine, until Liverpool, Borussia Dortmund and AC Milan entered the same race. The agent tried to play each club off against each other, and Levy stepped out of negotiations after Eriksen stated his intent.

It is clear Eriksen's heart is with a move to AC Milan, and inferring that unless we offer considerably more then he will join them. This mercenary style of football negotiations is not acceptable to Levy. We already have one mercenary in Adebayor, and my money is on Eriksen joining the italian mob.

Sneijder on the other hand is a seasoned mercenary. Nobody moves to Turkey when there were options for him across all major European leagues. This was simply a financial issue as he refused to take a pay cut at Inter, and with similar 40-50% tax rates in these other main leagues, it was the 15% attractive football tax haven of Turkey that allowed Galatasary to get him. Ao it is obvious he cares more about money tgan football. and that only leaves PSG, Monaco, Chelsea or Man City who would be stupid enough to pay his ridiculous wages. As good as he is, I think football has to rise above this type of selfishness, and I say let him rot in Turkey.

The mirror is reporting that inter have told levy that £21 million will be enough to land guarin after previously saying he is not for sale. Any truth in this Ed? Or just the usual bs?

Thfcmatt {Ed002's Note - I don't know what Inter have said, but that seems unlikely.}

Believable0 Unbelievable5

See we're being linked with fresh players today in the papers, Fredy Guarin from Inter, Radja Nainggolan of Cagliari and Ibrahim Afellay of Barcelona, Eds any truth?

Also i'm getting slightly worried by about AVB leaving and Bale following, i'd quite like both of them to come out in press and silence these rumours

d00gie {Ed002's Note - I don't see Guarin or Nainggolan moving to Spurs. Spurs could look to taking Afellay on a loan to buy deal.}

Believable5 Unbelievable1

Nothing gives more authority to a rumour than coming straight out and denying it.

£17mill bid for paulinho reported! Any truth in this ED? {Ed008's Note - First I've heard of it will need to look into it...

Believable2 Unbelievable3

17 million euros, aka 14.5 million sterling, supposedly.

Bale to PSG Ed? Reading a lot about it, hope not but if a staggering amount comes in can't see it being turned down {Ed008's Note - I read that this morning aswell, I think its the press linking PSG's reported interest and adding Bale to it, they can afford him but don't think its gonna happen. For me its Spurs or Real Madrid for him this season.

Thanks Ed

Basically rumours saying we want two Brazillians, with Paulinho being reportedly being close to signing (via Italia) and apparently AVB has sent scouts to Brazil to watch Bernard at the Confed Cup. {Ed008's Note -

Believable6 Unbelievable3

Not a bad idea, him and sandro would be a strong partnership at CDM leaving dembele free to push further up the pitch and make more of an influence.

Agree4 Disagree2

Lets Face it, we are linked with every player in virtually every country, When Mr Levi finally gets the cheque book out it will be a player that's not been mentioned previously.

Surely the chairman has learned his lesson by missing out on so many last minute transfers. I agree with the 10 players put on the transfer list, but we must not wait until these go before we buy.

Agree3 Disagree0

We have Sando.

On very good authority Levy is looking to tie up a deal for Mathieu Flamini who's contract is set to expire in a matter of weeks and will come in on a free. This will be the replacement for the outgoing Parker and Huddlestone. {Ed008's Note - I think Flamini agreed a new contract with Milan actually?

Believable0 Unbelievable10

Sorry Ed, but your information on this one is incorrect. No contract has been signed and Flamini has spoken out of his relationship problems with Massimiliano Allegri. He's leaving Milan with Spurs at the front of the queue. {Ed008's Note - Never said it was my information its what the Italian press said but its well documented he doesn't get along with Allegri they want him to sign a new contract, Inter want to sign him.

Agree1 Disagree1

FFS! hopefully not another ex-arseanal player coming to spurs! we've already had campell and gallas at the club and they didn't tur out to be all that! plus he is getting older aswell!

Agree0 Disagree4

Note : campbell left us for arsenal, so he wasnt ex arsenal when we had him
to be fair gallas was not at all bad
flamini is a good player.

According to Italia we are close to signing Paulinho for 17m {Ed008's Note -

Believable3 Unbelievable3

I was meant to say SKY Italia.
shorty {Ed008's Note - I know that's why I removed the sky part not allowed to advertise it. Also that's why I left my Ed's note there.

Agree3 Disagree1

If you are not aloud to advertise it and removed it why did you not this time and you wrote it lol {Ed008's Note - I'm trying to make a point we can't advertise newspapers and others etc..

Agree0 Disagree0

I see, thanks for the info Ed.
