I would be absolutely euphoric if we managed to secure the brightest star in modern football. When I look at what I See from Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, I think of them in a league of their own. Wondering who might break from the world class ranks to joins the two God's of football. This season I see Falcao, Aguerro, Alonso, Yaya Toure, Neymar, Van Persie and Xavi challenging for best player, but they all seem well short of that honour.

The question is who can realistically challenge at the highest level, are there youngsters showing the class to grow. I believe that there are four such players in the world today who can fill that future mantle;

Neymar can still grow and is already looking very special. I would be amazed. If he didn't hit the big time. And start challenge the current pairing the the hot seats.

Lucas Moura cost the earth but also looks so good. Perhaps the crazy price tag will be a burden too great, but early signs are he is going to be amazing.

Oscar makes it three Brazilians in my top 5. Simply irresistible and very jealous he went to Chelsea.

Willian is the 6th able to play with both feet across the offensive line. Almost unplayable and such great visions and finishing.

Christian Eriksen is my 5th selection. One for the rest of the world and Europe. He looks an outstanding talent, and even better at this stage in career than the great number 10s of Ajax history files. Sure Laudrip and VDZv became stars but they were not even close to this young lads talent.

If we are lucky enough to secure one of Willian or Eriksen I would be over joyed. if we landed both we would certainly have a superstar team for the future.

Llorente, Willian, Eriksen in

Adebayor, Bentley, Jenas, Livermore, Dawson, Gomes, Cudicini, Townsend, Gallas out.

Believable9 Unbelievable23

3 players in and 9 out! Don't be silly mate we can do with keeping daws, cudiccini, Livermore and Townsend are squad aint big enough as it is

Agree7 Disagree4

Llorente, Willian and Eriksen will cost upwards of 50m. Willian is still playing in the CL. Llorente might be out of contract in the summer but bigger clubs are going to push his price tag way beyond 7m. We probably couldn't get them to come and can only afford them if we sold Bale.
The 9 that you are selling? Wishful thinking for the most part. Jenas and Bentley aren't going anywhere - they're on good salaries and we subsidize their loans. They're getting first-team football and aren't about to take a huge pay cut. Gomes is the same - happy to sit on the bench until his salary is matched.
We won't let both Dawson and Gallas go as it would leave us too thin at the back. Might expect one of them to move on. We would have to give Cudicini a free and probably subsidize his salary unless someone has a huge GK injury crisis. I've no doubt that we'd like to get rid of one keeper (Gomes - as he would give the better return and I think he's out of contract at the end of the year) but we'll have to replace at least keeper this summer - assuming we don't keep either Friedel (1 year maybe?) or Cudicini.
We'll get almost nothing for Livermore and Townsend and at least they'll count towards homegrown players.
If you got Willian and Eriksen, where are you going to play them? Willian will either play RW (bye, bye Lennon) or in-the-hole (bye, bye Deuce) assuming we don't sell Bale. if you play Eriksen in midfield then I presume you'll push Dembele into the hole forcing Willian to the RW and it's bye, bye Deuce again.

Agree5 Disagree4

I dont think so AVB loves Bale and has no intention to sell him

Agree1 Disagree3

I love supermodels - it doesn't mean I'm going to date one.
The question isn't if Bale leaves it's WHEN Bale leaves.
It won't be this window but it might be next...

It is pointless adding good players to our squad as we are saturated with them. Depth and balance are important though as we lack adequate cover on the left side and even for Lennon. Buying players like Llorente won't solve anything, as I personally think both Adebayor and Defoe are as good if not better. What we need are star players, who will transform the team like Dembele and Vertonghen have demonstrated. Good players like Sigurdsson, Dempsey, Gallas or even Adebayor won't take us to the next level.

When we think about players who are at the next level we need to look at Sneijder, Moutinho, Eriksen, Hummels & Willian. Adding players like them and selling Gallas, Dawson, Dempsey, Huddlestone and the likes of Jenas, Gomes & Bentley is the future.

I don't think the very best proven players will be signing for Spurs, until we prove we are a regular Champions League contender. So it must be all about taking a few risks and buying younger rising stars .

I expect January to bring some late Christmas presents, and hope we unwrap Eriksen, Willian & Damiao. Perhaps I am a little too optimistic, but it feels nice for the time being!

Believable21 Unbelievable19

We wont be getting damiao or snejder or hummels. willian, llorente are a possibility if levy stumps up the money as they will need to be snapped up quick not last day of transfer window

Agree15 Disagree5

And moutinho if levy stumps up cash

Agree15 Disagree6

Haha you have changed your tune, last time ut was Damiao will definately sign and now its you hope he signs.! Then you contradict yourself by saying that Defoe and Ade are good enough, then its Ade wont take us to the next level. Make up your mind geezer.

Personally i never believed a word you have spouted and never will. You will always go down as a person botherer to me.

Much love

Agree19 Disagree8

I stopped listening to your opinion when you said adebayor is better than llorente. We wont go for damiao, because he wants a bigger club, willian and eriksen are more realistic but even they would cost upwards of 20 million, smashing our record fee paid. I can see Moutinho/Willian joining and nothing else too drastic, maybe a young player like christian atsu, wilfried zaha or thomas ince for cover on the wings

Agree5 Disagree7

I now know why the majority of you naysayers respond in this manner. It is clear half of you lack the intellectual capacity to decipher the difference between a rumour and an opinion or wish list.

I was using the names to provide an example of what we needed to do in order to transform our club, but it seems half of you got the point and the other half would be better served with extra curriculum English lessons.

Please just press disagree on this post and reiterate my point perfectly.

Kindest regards

Oracle, you really are a peace of work.
You spend years spouting absolute drivel, then have the cheek to abuse proper spurs fans who are fed up with your pure BS.
You are an attention seeker who obviously uses a dictionary to post pure tosh, just to make yourself look clever.
I, fit one, will whole heartily be happy to press disagree on your above comment. I'm now calling out all spurs fans, who are fed up with your drivel spouting, to join me in pressing the disagree tag on your above comment.
Your posts do make me laugh though.

I would make a statement here asking you to get down off your high horse Oracle, but I realise that I am talking to a man who has named himself "The Oracle". I'm going to go out on a limb here and guess that you have a pretty high opinion of yourself, which is evident by the way you disregard other people's opinions as a "lack of intellectual capacity". This is the reason you are so infuriating to many on here, because your stubbon bias towards your own opinions prevents you from objectively participating in any decent discussion.

Don't get me wrong, I've seen you write one or two decent posts, I know you have a decent knowledge of the game, and you support spurs so that makes you a brother. That doesn't make you infalliable, and to be honest the sooner you realise that then the sooner you will be able to post on this site without getting ridiculed by everyone.

But something tells me that you already know this. Something tells me that actually you're not interested in discussing potential transfers, team performances, tactics or players. You're here simply because you want to prove somebody wrong. You think if you pedal the same ideas for long enough then eventually you might get something right, and then who's laughing? Well I can tell you the answer to that. You would be the one laughing. By yourself. Because nobody else gives a damn.

Adam

I'm starting to doubt him actually as a spurs fan now.
I'm sure he is just a wind up merchant.
Maybe perky in disguise.

The reason our club has unachieved for years has a lot to do with fickle naysayers. The fact that the majority didn't even understand my post above, jutst reiterates the point.

I didn't brand you all with extra curricular duties, just wanted to make the point about the serial disagree button neanderthals. The same fans that wear a 2008 away shirt, and then moan about Levy being Scrooge-like. The same fans who boo from the West Stand on their one a year visit, the same people that bring nothing apart from skulduggery and ignorant responses fuelled only by their own self righteous position as judge.

The truth is it is advent and I love and support my beloved club more you will ever know. I value our true fans and can only apologise for not making our ticket prices more equitable for our real fan base. I accept and take responsibility for allowing armchair fans and wealthy non supports to take the real fans seat. Perhaps the future in our new stadium will allow the true spirit of Spurs to return, and then a few fake fans will buy some red or blue dye.

Willian and Damiao are coming in January, yes I know it is a stuck record.

Still with the Damiao claims...

Agree2 Disagree7

The fact that the club has underachieved for many years has been more to do with a lack of depth of quality rather than any supposedly fickle naysayers.
To some degree you make some fair points that we could do with some real top notch signings but apart from the obvious fact that Levy is never going to pay the kind of monies to bring some of those players in and that others would not come anyway it's rather irrelevant.
There is a middle way and it's about getting the balance and the blend right. You have to buy a mix of young players with real potential, older players that can contribute that are quality but at an age where they are comparatively cheap or circumstances like near the end of a contract make them cheap and just one or two expensive players to fill needs that can't be filled by cheaper options.
Llorente would be a great example of a bargain, quality player that unlike your assessment is the things that both Ade and JD are not, a real in the box presence unlike Ade who stays too deep, great in the air unlike both Ade and JD, great ball control and an ability to hold the ballup when needed and link up when needed. Not the pace of JD but a pretty good finisher. We play JD he can't hold the ball up or link up play, play Ade he's rarely in the box getting on the end of the balls coming in their and ineffective in the air at the numerous corners we win
We might be fickle naysayers but at least some of us can recognise where our limitations are and better ways of addressing them

Agree1 Disagree5

We won't get any of Eriksen, Willian or Damiao.
You're deluded.

Agree3 Disagree7

Oracle, Hummels? Seriously, Hummels?????? We have as much chance of signing Messi

Quote - "I value our true fans and can only apologise for not making our ticket prices more equitable for our real fan base. I accept and take responsibility for allowing armchair fans and wealthy non supports to take the real fans seat"

Haha. Like its got anything to do with you!!

You continue to post as if you have insider information but the fact of the matter is that you've never once "predicted" a players exit, only reguragated press stories about the possible arrivals. With the very same low percentage of accuracy that comes with a gutter press style scatter gun approach.

Every window it's the same arrogant and pathetic drivel. But still, at least the rest of us will have Feb and March to enjoy without you on here as you'll disappear for a couple of months whilst you wait for these with short memories to forget your month of pure BS.

Still here and laughing from afar,

Flippit

Agree4 Disagree4

I think we can all agree that Flippit's post about the Thrush is not only 100% accurate but what the majority of us are thinking ! I for one have been asking said individual to remove himself from this forum and grant himself a free transfer to the Spurs community board where he will be appreciated by the rest of the delusional individuals.

His intimation that he has anything of any significance within in the club just shows you how low this individual will go to attract attention and spout his BS. My only advice is please and I mean please do not respond to anymore of his posts ! Internet Trolls crave attention and when it is not given they move on .

Is this person for real? has he been eating person sandwiches or got on the sherry a little early? he does talk some rubbish.....Oracle, please crawl back under the rock you came from? You are becoming a real pain in the arse clogging the forum up with so much rubbishe its unreal

You can't even spell the word 'Rubbish', and the letter e isn't even near enough to claim a typo.
