The VAR decision was a tough one I’ll concede, very difficult to see how the ref made a clear and obvious mistake, the review definitely seemed subjective. I guess VAR reviews will balance out over the season.
But from that point on we tanked. We didn’t really play as bad as we can . both their goals came thru the middle, why Wanyama was on I have no clue.
Our midfield is still trying to find its way, Sissoko is not, not surprisingly, playing at last seasons level. Ndombele looks like he is still getting upto speed, some nice touches clearly has talent, but fitness looks a level below were it will need to be. Winks is a workhorse and full on commitment.
Son was off his normal level, Lamela faded after halftime. Our backline clearly isn’t as tight as it has been the last couple of seasons . all 4 played solidly. I don’t know if age is catching up with Verts and Toby or it’s extra workload because our full backs aren’t at their previous level. Or if it’s because our midfield isn’t clicking and leaves the back line exposed. For all the supposed midfield talent and forwards we are seriously under performing at both ends of the field.
If the second goal had been given we might have won, but recent results suggest that isn’t a given. A draw would not have been unfair.

I got the impression maybe Wanyama came on cos of Sissoko’s yellow maybe?
Piss poor all the same, we should be getting a point here at least.
And let’s be honest lads, VAR will even itself out over the season in my opinion ðŸ‘.

It’s possible it kind of looked like Sissoko May have picked up a knock, also true of Ndombele . nothing major but the card and preserving him may have been factors.
