Since the new year stoke have played 16.
They have won 3
Drawn 3
Lost 10

Come on spurs. It's all therefor you again.
The arse won't get 6 points from their last 2.
I am feeling quietly confident about the coming week.

COYS.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

The game that's worried me for weeks is the stoke game.
it would be just like us to have beaten city and chelsea only to throw it away at stoke.
now we know we must beat stoke and hope others flounder.
i don't think the others will get maximum points so we must keep the faith.
if we don't make it, get ready for the avb haters/harry lovers in the press and tv to resurface. the bale to leave stories will also gather pace. I don't believe he's going anywhere next season regardless of where we finish. he can see progress under a manager he admires and respects and seems happy to continue his immediatte career at the lane.
sure we'll get some stick from the noisy neighbours, the chavs, even the deluded scousers but I strongly believe we will continue to flourish under avb, and with a significant signing or 2 in the summer will prove to be a top team capable of winning major honours in the near future. when we do those handing out the stick will have to take plenty in return as they hang onto our coat tails.

Two excellent posts, we can do it! Then we can sell or give away the clutter that we don't need, replace with two or three good signings and blood some of the youngsters!

Agree0 Disagree0

Trouble is, if we finish 5th (which let's face it, given our track record, the current form of all teams invloved and our general luck, we will), Levy will miss out on Champions League income but not have to spend Champions League transfer fees so it pretty much suits him. We definitely aren't up to the level we were in our last go at it, no world class midfielder in Modric, no experience, craft and guile for goals in big games from Rafa, no brilliance from Ledley stepping in at the back and no unique, rogue option of Crouch who European defences always struggled with.
So, we miss out, all the Bale-will-leave media circus act will follow, Levy makes him stay at least another season and he is then spun as our big signing for the summer. We'll flog what we can of the paper-thin squad that remains but not for much money so, don't expect much in the way of investment in players. Surely we have to buy a striker but, hasn't that been obvious for ages? It's still not happened. If Negredo or Soldado are available at anything like £10m then they should be massive targets but, probably just another summer of waiting every day for what isn't going to happen.
Now Everton have lost Moyes and Liverpool aren't going to get much to spend and have even more dependence on Suarez than we do Bale, Levy will see 5th as a pretty safe target again for next season without breaking the piggy bank beyond a few coppers.
Project well-run 5th place club with new stadium on the way in 4-5years continues.
Pessimistic? No, just realistic and practical I think.

I know Manchester United are the champions but the tv flooding shown by sky on the moyes thing is ridiculous.
Non stop all day.
With transfer deadline day, there brain washing is getting out of hand.
It's like listening to the oracle bleat non stop all day.
I turned it off hours ago but keep rechecking to see if anything has happened in the sport world.

The redknapp/fergie loving media really do know how to brain wash normal sport loving fans.
Sorry, rant over.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

The coolmore racing mob soon put fergie back in his box
.
you'd think the whole of the royal family had been wiped out in one day the way the press/tv have reacted.

Would be great to see the following signed over the summer -

Danny Rose (recalled) - Give Rose a shot at LB if/when BAE is sold. I think with 2 solid CMs allowing full backs to push on, he will flourish under AVB.

Etienne Capoue - This might not seem like a completely necessary purchase, but Spurs have dearly missed both of Sandro/Dembele when they have been injured. Having Capoue would allow for good cover, and rotation so Dembele isn't run into the ground like this season.

Hatem Ben Arfa - A creative, technical player who can play in a front 3 with Bale and Lennon. Would be pretty cheap if Newcastle are relegated and/or the stories of friction with Pardew are true. Is a class player when he is fully fit. However, Eriksen would be the ideal option but don't think it will happen regardless of CL qualification.

P E Aubameyang - Again another player who can play in the front 3 with Bale and Lennon, and can play up front if required. Would like to see him play instead of Lennon/Ben Arfa as a 2nd striker against 'lesser' opposition. Has bags of pace, and will score goals in this team.

A STRIKER - An out and out striker who will get goals. Anyone from Benteke, Damiao, Dzeko etc etc

These additions would make Spurs a real force next season. I would expect to see Adebayor, Huddlestone, Parker and Dempsey to leave. If BAE leaves would be great to see Perriera to come in, and if Dawson leaves would like to see Alderweireld. Regardless of these 'swaps' the above five would be superb additions, and all would be round the 8-15m mark so are realistic.

Right, i've read the various opinions, some I agree with and some i'm baffled by, but I guess everyone sees things differently! Fundamentally in my opinion for the 1st 75 mins we got battered in midfield, and for me it because as much as he works his socks off, we have carried Scott Parker for a long time as he offers us literally nothing when we have the ball. I would much rather see Huddlestone occupying the quarter back roll which was when he was at his best under Harry, then play Dembele (I think he is class when fully fit) and Sigurdson rather than Holtby as we desperately need an attacking midfielder with a goal in him, all the other top clubs have them! Holtby might well turn out to be a good one for the future but I can't see he offers us as much as Sigurdson has recently and did frequently last year at Swansea.

On the full back front, I don't see we are that short, we all know BAE looks like a king for long periods, and then just completely switches off and gifts goals but when Rose comes back we are only one signing short of decent depth on both sides. If we don't go out and buy a centre forward this summer I will be amazed (even by our standards!), and when Sandro comes back to replace Hudd/Parker I think we will be ok going forward to next year

one question and one question only. and it is for. adeybyor were has that performance been all season ade just two or three performances like that and ch lge would have been sewn up leaving the arsewipes and chelski to fight it out. couldn't be a new contract or a move awa is imminent could it well let's hope for more of the same in the last two games and for that chump of a keeper from the arse to seriously cock up in thier remaining games

Carroll should of played lastnight instead of Huddlestone. I wish Avb had the balls to pick him. I ain't just saying this with hindsight it was obvious. Parker is crap too. We always have key players injured when we play big match's when whll our luck change as we hardly ever get any unlike Chelsea and Arsenal.

Come on guys, although its not in our own hands anymore, there are still 6pts to play for and ARSEnal need to take them all as do we. I personally think our games are a little easier than ARSEnal'.

We play Stoke who are safe and have nothing to play for.

ARSEnal play Wigan, battling for their lives in EPL and don't forget last year at a similar time ARSEnal Vs Wigan finished 1-2

We then play Sunderland, we are not only missing 3 key players but will more than likely be safe by then.

ARSEnal play Newcastle who whether safe or not is always a difficult game at St. James Park, last game of the season all teams want to bow out on a high. I've said it before I can honestly see ARSEnal dropping 2pts in a of these games.

The Chav's have a tough run in to with Villa and Everton but with their goal difference I think they are pretty safe. But stranger things have happened and a draw against Villa makes the Everton game very interesting.

Quoting AVB, "Keep the faith" com on guys it ain't over to the fat guy sings and hopefully he warming up to start singing at either the Library or St James.

arsenal will beat Wigan as they'll be leggy from the cup final and they look very flakey at the back.
For a while now i've seen the Newcastle game as one that flatters to deceive. St James Park would usually be a tough place to go but, I think they may be safe by the time the game comes and they've shipped a lot of home goals lately. I honestly think they will let in 3-4 goals to arsenal who will win comfortably.

Gutting but very very likely. It may be irrelevant anyway as we might only take 4pts.
Simmo {Ed008's Note - The Wigan will surprise many they need to win or they'll be relegated they got that result last season don't rule them out!

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed, I would love them to get it. I would've been happy with Martinez as our boss when Harry left and Wigan often pull huge results out of the bag but, given our usual luck in these situations, this may end up a season too far for them. With no cup final they'd have a better chance.

Tom Huddlestone. quite simply the biggest (literally) waste of space to have ever worn a Spurs shirt! Ok - slight exaggeration but he was nothing short of disgraceful last night - if we can sell him in the summer for £5M I for one would be over the moon. Cannot believe AVB kept him on for the full 90 minutes. Surely Sigurdsson or Carroll would have been a better option. Please DO NOT play him in either of our last 2 must win games!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Agree about huddlestone tonight. Although I think his presence willl be needed against stoke in all honesty. I wouldn't place parker and hope demebld can move into the 3 in midfeild

Agree0 Disagree0

Scott parker was the waste

Agree0 Disagree0

Parker played a total of 5 forward passes all game. The rest of his passes were either sideways or backwards.

Last season he played a few great games. This season he has been just as big a liability as BAE who was also terrible last night.

Dont get me wrong. I love the passion that dawson shows but he is just too slow and sloppy for our system. We need kaboul back asap. Sandro was a big miss tonight and since his injury. I think parker is dire. BAE don't get me started. He costs us goals regularly. Ade shows class and a work ethic tonight which makez me think he is good enough for spurs but he needs consistency and the desire back! Hudd is too slow aswell. I think we lack urgency when attacking and next year i'd love to line up like this asit is more defensively tight and will press and play faster up top!
Lloris
Walker kaboul vert baines (unlikely he will move to mancs)
Sandro Dembele
Lennon Bale Hotlby/siggy
Bony/manduzic

Bench- a young gk, rose, townsend, mangela, higuain, moses (will mourinho want him?), siggy/holtby

I think we would be very strong with this team and if we sell ade dawson and dempsey it should cost us 35m financial outlay.

Ed is this team likely and how likely is each of the new additions?

Thanks Jay-B-13

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I think you are seeing Kaboul through rose tinted glasses, as he also has some significant problems. His positioning is woeful and he was responsible on a personal level for many of the goals we conceeded last year.

The best example of this was Nasri's goal against us. Our back 4 were in a good flat line as the play broke down and City got position half way into the spurs half. Kaboul then decided to move out of position to press the player needlessly. This created a gap directly behind him that Nasri ran into. Kaboul was isolated easily and the ball play around him and into the path of Nasri who finished well.

Dawson is not as athletic, and more prone to being beaten 1v1 than Kaboul is, but his positioning is superb and he regularly covers passes and gets blocks in because of his ability to read the game and that is why he has got back into the 1st team.

Maybe AVB can fix Kaboul's issues, and maybe Vert can control it in game. I'd certainly want to see if he has improved but it is no certainty that him coming back is going to reduce the goals we conceed (I think that problem and our dip in form has been due to the loss of Sandro).

Agree0 Disagree0

Thanks for your input wulf. I agree with what you said but dawson just isn't quick enough for the system we play that's all. Wether its kaboul or someone else that replaces, time will only tell.

Sandro is the key for our team I agree. He is just a presence and is a defensively minded machine. We were unstoppable when we had dembele and sandro paired together.

Whats your opinion on my suggested striker situation?

Jay-B-13

Agree0 Disagree0

Jay-b-13,
Why would bony get a game ahead of Higuain? One a good striker ( better than what we have ) the other, Higuain, good enough to walk into any PL team! There's no competition between them.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 May 2013 23:09:40
Good question davo! This is more personal prefernce I think a player like bony will terrorise a defence physically and then higuanoff the bench would reap the rewards with his clever movement and positioning against a tired defence. I know this sounds deluded to most readers and as I say its personal preference. Hope that provides a little insight davo.

Not just because he scored but special mention to Sig who I think has showed more and more in the past couple of months. Good attitude, gets stuck in, nice touches, eye for goal.

If the above poster doesn't mind I would like to add that holtby is another player growing in significance and stature. Jay-B-13

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm not so sure on Holtby. He looks determined and hardworking but, after a bright few cameos in his early games, he's looked like he needs to catch up with the pace of the Premier League. He gets caught with the ball and misses tackles all the time at the moment so hopefully it will come good for him next season. The odd decent pass has shown there's still hope there but, it seems at the moment he's a fans favourite already for having done nothing much more than look very keen.
Simmo

Agree0 Disagree0

He will be a success. He is determinded and works hard. If all our players had his determination and work ethic we would be a very good side and have top 4 secured by now! From the games iv seen he is certainely improving fast.

Message to everybody - Ekotto has always been useless! I bet he has cost us in excess of 25 goals in the past 2-3yrs alone due to lacks of concentration; not marking/tracking, giving the ball away, poor tackled (fouls) etc etc. He is completely brainless. Showed a spell of looking more solid last season but only ever a blink away from something stupid and costly. GET HIM OUT ASAP!
