Congrats to Huddlestone and Livermore, who would have expected to see them going to Wembley before THFC?

Oh well. Forget our troubles.
Nothing like being handed a trophy on a plate. Get ready for some proper verbals when the goons FINALLY win a trophy and beating us on the way is even worse.
Our chance to ram it back to them is pipping them for 4th or winning the Europa. As much as I'd love it to happen, I have a unsurprising feeling that we may finish just short again.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Same old $h1t we have to put up with, even when we should've coasted to finish above them in 2 out of 3 years we blow it in spectacular fashion as always. And who gets left with the laughing, abuse and misery? Levy? The players? Even our sacked managers get a pay-off, we're the mugs. Sorry it's defeatist and melancholy for all the happy-clappers who accept such embarrassment from our rivals for 20odd years without a whimper but, I don't feel that way and particularly not today.

Agree0 Disagree0

"Handed a trophy on a plate" a bit disrespectful to a Wigan team who has knocked out deservedly so man city that game ain't a given for us.
And to an arsenal team who has had to knockout liverpool Everton and yourselves ;) to get the chance to play Wigan in the semis. Don't be bitter man handed on a plate is a load of bull.

Yes you beat Liverpool Everton and us, where, all at the library!
Like the chavs in the CL, the records may show you won it but probably not deserving of winning it. I think it's a bit disrespectfull of you not to mention hull or Sheffield utd either. By the way, I'm hoping you make it to the final and then Hudds smashes a 25 yarder past the gob rubbish that plays in goal for you and wins hull the trophy. I'm not bitter, we had the chance to knock you out and we didn't take it but seeing you lot make that walk up the steps first would be priceless (again) :)

Agree0 Disagree0

The reason why I didn't mention hull or Sheffield utd cause we have to beat Wigan before we can even think bout either of em as I said Wigan themselves deserves respect that you failed to show em with your handed a trophy remark.

And didn't deserve to win our games really! Are you really saying that. the liverpool game you might have an argument but ye and Everton we deserved and you tell me a team who has had a good cup run and I'll show you the luck they had to get them there.

Anyhow my little spud if we do make it to the final I'm glad you'll watch hoping to make your season a success if we lose.

Forever in our shadow must be cold in there;)

Dave 6,

The records will show you beat us, Liverpool and Everton on the way so fair play but let's face it, all of them would've been a different proposition away from home and/or in a semi or final with so much more pressure. which let's be fair, is when you lot bottle it.
Also, we have atmosphere to keep us warm and at least we don't feel empty like the Emirates trophy cabinet has been for years and is for a couple more months yet.
"Huddlestooooooone, what a gooooallll and yet again @R$Enal are heartbroken. ".Carlsberg don't do cup finals.

Agree0 Disagree0

Far too easy. Hook line and sinker. :)
Nice to see fellow football fans posting on a real football forum. Yours must be really boring (like your home support) if you need to stay here.
Good luck for the rest of the season little man. You may well add a trophy to your usual 4th place. I'm not into petty squabbling, unlike arsenal fans, so I will take my leave now. Whilst your here, look around, you might learn a thing about what real fans talk about.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ha ha ha Fair play to Huddleston left spurs joined hull and gets a fa cup semi final a man with ambition. Oh lads by the way send Sherwood home he seems very pale must be in the shade or a shadow or something his job is done now anyway.

Agree0 Disagree0

A man with ambition?
Just like RVP, Nasri, adebayor, toure, cole, Henry, fabrigas. We all have players who need to move on to further their career and gain honours.

i think levy should do all he can to get alex ferguson to spurs for 3 years to see if he could sort us out I also agree with sherwood about players not up for it the only 2 give effort is walker and adebayor even lennon don't do anything anymore and he used to be a top player we need to ship at least 8 player players out in the summer

Believable0 Unbelievable0

He'll be working hard behind the scenes at United again

I personally like tim sherwood I just feel he isn't quite ready, in the big games like yesterday his tactics just seem to go wrong very quickly.
When kaboul was sent off he should have taken naughton off for fryers moved vertonghen across to cb and walker should have gone back to rb just to try and stabilise things. Instead no one seemed to have a clue what position they where supposed to be in at some stages of the game!
Bentaleb isn't ready either I think everyone can see this would love for him to have a season on loan next year at a top half champ/bottom half prem team!
Don't shoot me down just my thoughts! Lol

I think the problem occurred slightly before that. Hindsight is of course a wonderful thing, but when Oscar was brought on at half time I had a sinking feeling of the familiar.

Earlier this season we played a similar game plan and a similar style against a Chelsea team that had a similar game plan and a similar style. The result was largely the same - Chelsea had no strong link play between the midfield and the forward lines, which muted their attack. At half time they took off a functional player and replaced him with a creative player (Mata), and the game changed and we were caught napping.

The same thing happened this weekend. Mourinho is very impressive at making substitutions, and both AVB and Sherwood were caught napping. I think the goals were largely freak incidents (more of which later), but Chelsea looked far more threatening right from the start of the second half. It's this sort of thing that I feel is important in a tactician (and why I think AVB being labelled as such was a media exercise more than truth).

With regard to the goals I do feel that we were unlucky, but you make your own luck in many ways by putting the odds in your favour. Vert has been a bit sulky lately with the antics, so of course we put him at left back which will annoy him as well. It's small details like that which make a difference.

Why oh why have we not bought a left back for the past 3 seasons?

Liverpool fan here.

I watched the game yesterday and I'm very confused why you're all going against Sherwood? Personally I think he can be a very good manager while he's also very down to earth.

He played walker out of his normal position but did hazard actually do anything most of that game? Apart from the two at the start Chelsea did nothing and spurs could of easily got 1-0 or 0-0 would you have been moaning then?

You lost 4-0 due to a slip, a unfair penalty and red card, a slip, and a ridiculous back header so that's Sherwood's fault how?. I watched his post match interview and he says it how it is. Your team even after 1-0 down just gave up which is a lack of character.

Not only that personally I think your back line is shockingly bad but you've still kept quite a few clean sheets. It's only your lack of strike force that's actually letting you down. Which AVB couldn't do either.

Let's be fair your still In the top 4 race if you beat us or arsenal but you wouldn't deserve it at all. Which you guys couldn't even deny it's been a very poor season from spurs and god knows how you're still where you are

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I personally agree with Tim. I'm on his side.

The problem I have is that he said it in front of the cameras. I feel that it should have been a conversation behind closed doors strictly between the manager and his players.

But, what he said was 100% honest, true and you can tell he was personally hurt by the result.

It seems our players have a tendency to lose big, had we lost that game 1-0 I wouldn't have been so disappointed, but for Spurs to gift them 4 goals is simply not good enough. I think AVB ultimately lost his job because of the hammerings to Liverpool and City.

I believe we'll finish 5th this year. The only problem is that the top 4 are simply playing at a much higher level than us, Everton and United. It's as simple as that.

We're not having a bad season. Just the teams above us are have better seasons in comparison.

Agree0 Disagree0

Dave, with our matches coming up, I think it will be 6th or 7th . This might be a good thing though as it means we won't have to play in the Europa league next year!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - 6th gets you into the EL.}

RedTwist, we are playing shocking and have been lucky to win a lot of our wins due to playing very poorly. Liverpool are playing out of their skins and have a good structure in place while we look all over the place. I believe we have a superior squad but that will change if you get Cl.

If we don't get top four, very likely, I hope we finish 7th and avoid the Europa League.

You are very quiet Spurski, lol

Ok, heard some different views on the Chelsea game on this site and in regard to the TS post match interview, but personally I am fuming with Sherwood. Try saying you were f***ing wrong to play walker right mid, with Naughton behind him, wrong for playing Lennon in the hole and Sigurdsson out wide, wrong for dropping Solddado after he gets MOTM and a goal the week before, wrong for playing an unproven Algerian kid over an experienced Brazil international. Then go bleeding about character, Adebayor, Dawson and Sandro, are definite characters, Lloris is captain of France, Kaboul has often been captain of Spurs, with Vertonghen and Walker also captaining on occasion. Tim YOUR JOB is to pick the right team and motivate the players, don't blame just them. Sherwood is ridiculously out of his depth, good riddance in the summer, he's Redknapp without the player motivation or flowing football, shocking.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

If you think those players showed any fight or pride in wearing white yesterday and on several other occasions this season we have been watching different games.

Agree0 Disagree0

Fair point, however it is the manager's job (AVB failed to) to motivate the team to fight for him and the shirt, it shouldn't be, but that's the way it is with a team of foreign players and non academy graduates

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree motivation is a part of management, but is pride in ones own performance not something these players should be held accountable for?

For all Dawson's flaws he usually puts his heart into, Holtby is another that at least appeared to try and cared about the result.

Too many of this team are going through the motions for whatever reason. Lame duck manager or not, a few of them will leave I'd be shocked to see LLoris and Verts at the Lane next season, they do not look nor sound happy. Unlike Soldado and Eriksen who have come out and expressed a desire to stay.

Interested to know peoples thoughts about Tim interview after the game on ss.
2 highlights of the interview

People at the club needs to stop thinking about top 4 ( it was the way he even said it)

There are some players I trust some I dnt?? Wtf

The team is too nice to each other

Believable0 Unbelievable0

He obviously trusts Bentaleb, but why?

Agree0 Disagree0

We'll. Tim picks the team, how on earth he can say they're are some players he trusts & some he don't is beyond me.

Simple don't pick the players you don't trust as for not showing guts, get up of the bench & f***ing tell them don't wait until after the game.

Playing players out of position is down to the manager why Walker was playing right wing I don't know. Instead of slating the players publicly he needs to take some of the blame himself, I know there was a lot of individual errors but let's all be honest we were never going to win that game with that line up, did sig touch the ball.

As for the comment about top 4 he is right we aren't good enough with him in charge tactically Tim doesn't have the knowledge.

Our players appear to get injured very easily. With one of the largest panels in the premiership, we now have trouble fielding a back four for our next game. What is our problem? Are the team fit? We only play in slow motion anyway so how are we getting so many injuries. I fear the season end. I expect an exodus of our best players. I am not sure Lloris would be much of a loss. If he had not come so far out for the first goal, Dawson had got back so Eto would not have scored. He should have been sent off in the second minute ie. Eto was onside. He is prone to taking players down and has been lucky not to be sent off in at least three occasions this season. What do others think?
