If we are looking for a very good centre back then surely Marco Capuano of Pescara fits the bill! Young, good in the air, strong, etc, and cheapish!
My brothers living in Italy and says this player is very good and up for a move!

£85m might seem a lot to you but it seems fair to me after all the badgering Mr Perez!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Its a lot now, Perez previously bragging about how he would make money no object to sign bale. Good old levy never had any intention of selling. If he had avb would have gone, Marca and Perez fuelled it up with lies and inuendo and made spurs a global brand and also realized you do not play with spurs or Mr Levy, he might get some stick from us spurs fans but there's no denying spurs would be weak without him, my god he's awesome levy for a Knighthood, arise Sir Levy he's gunna pull a rabbit out of the hat

Agree0 Disagree0

Aww bless him, diddums to Mr Perez. He also said he won't mention any names but said 'Bale' and that he won't mention any figures but said '100m is too much'. Real Madrid are pigs. Bale to stay, no money can replace him with our limited stadium size.

Agree0 Disagree0

Windows still open for a few weeks bobby, let's not count our chickens till the window shuts. Wouldn't put it past levy to sell last minute ala berby and modders.

Agree0 Disagree0

Agreeing with sentiment here, Levy and RM seem to be closer than people were giving credit for. Both have come out looking good and if Bale does have another good season we can expect 80mil next year.

I really do sniff champs league but the start of the season is looking crucial.

Some great signings so far, Bale and Soldado up front, new winger, new creative midfield. CD / DM crocked but for how long?

Really looking forward to the first game!

Apparently we are in for cabaye do you guys think he's good or the player we really need {Ed002's Note - Are you a PSG fan?}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Ed Laurent Blanc the PSG manager has said that he thinks we are interested in him don't think its true though if we are about to sign Capoue {Ed002's Note - Laurent is just teasing you.}

Hi Ed's,

Any update with the Bale transfer, only I've just been reading on another site, that Perez is stating that 100Million Euro is to much for any player. Possibly talks breaking down. ?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Find it ironic think spurs and bale was used with media hype to persuade Ronaldo to sign new contract as they thought he was off Ronaldo one big ego would not of played or liked bale outdoing him, now price to high players stating there concerns back out plan in action Suarez on route to Madrid his out plan of Liverpool is very similiar word for word like ratboy who was coersed by Madrid arsenal also been used coys bale stays players in smell brasso trophies coming bobbybox

Ed's can you help me out with these 2 questions?
1. With all this cash being spent on players now - it that because it won't be represented in the fair play structure next year?

2. the 50M budget the Lewis gave us, is that on top of the kitty or is it the kitty?

The South African {Ed002's Note - (1) I don't really understand the question. Spurs do not have an issue with the FFP. If a club did it would likely not be an immediate problem. If a club can show it has been moving in the right direction and doing what it can to overcome financial issues, perhaps brought on by a recession (e.g. in Spain) then I would expect a strongly worded letter as a warning. Perhaps by then end of the 2016/2017 season, If a club has been determined to have violated the “break even” requirement for several seasons then it may be excluded from the next season’s UEFA competitions. (2) I have no idea about the budget, the kitty nor the bunny.}

seriously another midfielder are we serious, another striker to go with the undoubted quality of soldado (top quality signing ) and cb and refer too another post where is kabooooom surely he cannot make the start of the season otherwise he would have been included in friendlies so far and on that note sandro? any clues as to when these two will be back, and lastly is it just me who thinks real madrid are cheeky so and so, s they haven't finished paying for modric yet and they want to take our best player in installments so we can't really afford to buy a ready made replacement ( not that there is one ) untill four or five years time when we get the money do one madrid come on levy do the business son, hope he plays on saturday at least it will give the fans one opportunity to show him what we all think of him after all he was born to play for spurs

Believable0 Unbelievable0

The sale of Bale and the sale of Modric are two completely different things. We agreed to receive payments in a certain way for Modric so will be paid accordingly. The fact they now want Bale has nothing to do with ANY previous transfers.

If we agree to the sale of Bale then we will again receive the payments in a way agreed by the two clubs.

I don't get why people are connecting the two. Can someone please explain?

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes that's right but I think people are just saying they want best possible terms to suit and help us now, given Real are pillaging our best player yet again. Feeling that Bale will leave with standard or extended instalment terms when we've only just got over year one and initial payments for Luca would just stick in the throat a bit more for many.

If this goes ahead I'm expecting him to be played at centre back. He's the sort of CB that AVB likes - very mobile whilst still being strong and tall, and is also a great passer of the ball which will keep the momentum flowing. The high line we play our CBs are pretty much DMs anyhow.

ed, what is going on with the whole centreback issue. are we looking to sign anyone soon with the new season just around the corner. also are we actually going to sell anyone else because in my eyes we have sold two players who are decent (dempsey+caulker) and yet we still have adebayor and parker and livermore. {Ed002's Note - The club are still looking for a CB.}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Ade can still be devastating on his day. Ok he doesn't have many of them but, if other players are on their game then I think it livens him up and if they are then we're not as dependent on him anyway. For the sake of other critical signings we need (a centre-back, creative midfielder/forward with Bale and probably 2 without, maybe a left-back but I think that's lower on the list) then getting rid of Ade just leaves us short of cover up-top yet again. Bring in Soldado, Chadli and AN Other but sell Ade, Bale and Dempsey - we're just as short on numbers and in losing Bale, the question of overall quality is a tight-call too.

Has anyone else considered that we have only been buying upgraded replacements

Dempsey often played on the wing, he has gone and we have chadli, an upgrade in my opinion, and more suited to AVB

Hudd and Parker out (supposedly), paulinho and capoupe in.

Soldado in and pray to god Ade out.

With the money from previous transfers and not forgetting the grossly increased revenue from the TV rights,

I'm not sure as everyone has been staying that we have been spending money from the Bale transfer,

It might be simplistic, but AVB was having his head turned by the likes of PSG, yet chose to stay, my view at the time was he was convinced by backing from the board.

There have been serious sums of money lauded about, even arsenal and threatening to spend money, but this is due to the Tv revenue.

So I for one believe maybe bale will be sold may not, but we are not seeing the money from this transfer being spent now, to soften the blow

COYS

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Couldn't agree more, I honestly think we had money to spend and Levy saw this as the right time to do it. he had the right manager to give his backing and has gone for it.

Don't believe for one minute we are buying these players with Bale money before the Madrid transfer happens to keep the prices down.

In AVB and Levy we trust

#COYS #SPURS #THFC

Agree0 Disagree0

I doubt that Levy would approve the spending of money that is not yet in hand, namely any fee that might be agreed for Bale.

Agree0 Disagree0

Cockney Magic a few more signings & we'll be better than Madrid. Come on son. We've qualified for the CL how many times. Once. How many times have they won it 9 runners up 3 times. There's your answer - that's why Bale want's out, obviously money will also be a factor but as a young footballer he want's winners medals. Can any Spurs fan really begrudge him that. I personally think good luck to him.

We can push on with out him now or with him what ever the outcome we have a better team / squad this year, providing the new signings adapt quickly to the premiership that my biggest concern at the minute.

Agree0 Disagree0

We have also been in the black on transfer dealings for about 3years. That added to increased TV money means there is/should be money to spend without selling Bale.
To date we have sold £13-14m ish of players and bought £50m (excluding Capoue if that happens) which is not ridiculous for a top 5 Premier League club.
Simmo

Agree0 Disagree0

Exactly. If you were to assume that a club of our wealth (11th in the world) were able to spend £20m / year on transfers then we have a warchest of £60m built up over the last 3 years where we have broken even. Stick in £20m for this year and you can see that what we have spent so far (about £40m net) is well within our budget.

Agree0 Disagree0

Magic, You need to read it again you stated they haven't won it for a while. I said they won it in 2002 & 2002 OK 10 years ago. (Thats really not that long in football is it.?) & as for there not as good a recent teams, We'll they've been knocking on the door in the last 3 years.
2011 - Champions League Semi-Final
2012 - Champions League Semi-Final
2013 - Champions League Semi-Final

So if getting to the champions league Semi final 3 years on the trot is not really that good. f**k knows what your hoping for.

Agree0 Disagree0

I made a lighthearted comment that we were better than Madrid and you have misinterpreted it and overreacted to it a bit. i'm just enjoying our new signings.

If we carry on buying quality players and maybe get Willian and a quality cb we will have a better team tgam Madrid! Be careful what you wish for Mr Bale, the grass ain't always greener and just read reports saying there is unrest in tghe Madrid squad over the protracted Bale transfer. Ronaldo strikes me as the sort of geezer who wouldn't like his world record transfer fee to be surpassed. I hope Bale stays. Why Levy didn't buy the players we needed the last few seasons I don't know, why leave it until now we would of had champions league. Quality over quantity is the way forward with crap like Livermore to leave.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Better team than Madrd? Lol. How many more players do you think we will buy?

We are improving as a side and have been impressive in the window this year but come on let's not get ahead of ourselves.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes, I think somebody is getting a bit over-optimistic there. I agree that even without Bale, if we then sign a couple more players then we will have a better squad for sure and probably a better first XI overall. Madrid will have Modric, Bale, Ronaldo, Ozil, Benzema etc and still be a World giant my friend, while we scrap away to gel quickly and try to get top 4.
Simmo

Agree0 Disagree0

I think my exclamation mark was a little giveaway to me being not that serious about being better than Madrid.

They may have won it nine times but they ain't won it for a while have they. They are nowhere near as good as past reams.

Agree0 Disagree0

Really Magic? Not the best way to show sarcasm really as it actually made it seem like you were even more serious by using an exclamation mark.

Anyway I meant no offence by my comment and actually loved your enthusiasm.

Agree0 Disagree0

Won it recently what are you talking about the last 3 years then no they haven't.
I guess I'm a lot older than you. As I remember under Vicente del Bosque -Raul & Co running riot for a few years in the CL.

2000 - Champions League Winners
2002 - Champions League Winners

Exclamation mark. :-)
Well leave it at that mate.

Agree0 Disagree0

Dr Thfc, you say 3 years but then state 2000 and 2002, that's 11 years!! Their current team is nowhere near as good as past teams it ain't that hard to understand, is it.
