Use our rumours form to send us spurs transfer rumours.

With the potential signing of Capoue, it sounds to me that Sandro is a lot further behind the recovery curve than we believe. Also I can see both Parker and Jenus 2nd (Livermore) being shown the exit.

Otherwise I can't see the logic TBH. I can also see 1 more striker being bought and that should rap up our transfers as I believe Dawson and Vertonghen will play this weekend or at least be ready for the first game of the season!

I can not believe that we are spending all this money without an agreement in place for Bale, it just does not make sense?

Another signing Etienne Capoue believed to have been accepted. The deal with RM must be already done or in advanced talks.

Hope not, but just really doesn't make sense all our spending this transfer, in relation to the past! Especially with the new stadium plans.

Northeast Yido

Believable0 Unbelievable0

If we were not spending money you would still be complaining. Be happy we are trying to push on.

Agree0 Disagree0

At the moment due to injuries we going to starting with a back 4 of:
Walker Naughton Fryers Rose and with Sandro not 100& fit, If Capoue has signed/about to sign would be a great addition to the squad, squad rotation and competition for more then one position.

Agree0 Disagree0

We don't bring players in early people complain. We do bring players in early people complain. Oh the joys of being a Spurs fan. It's all Levy's fault anyhow. whatever it is.

Agree0 Disagree0

Clankers, I'm not complaining at all. But as said, where are all the fund coming from to cover all these purchases? And apparently we are not finished with this one.

It's a constructive question.

Agree0 Disagree0

How is my post a complaint? It's very much a question that in time, will answer itself with the sale of Bale. Mark my words.

I wish we could keep him for just one more season, for a good push on from where we finished last year.

Agree0 Disagree0

With all the money we have spent so far i'm wondering are we spending the Bale transfer fee in advance!
so that we don't pay over the odds prices for players once Bale is sold!

i hope Bale stays.

also why are people so keen for us to get rid of Parker! I think he has still a lot to offer and is a great player to have at the club, for his experience and can still do a good job for us.

Agree0 Disagree0

Exactly what I was saying in my original post. But apparently that's complaining!

Agree0 Disagree0

Northeast yido - over the last two seasons we have made a profit on our transfer dealings, and on top have banked the tv money as well so i'd imagine we have plenty to spend even if we do have a stadium to build

Agree0 Disagree0

I think also bale deal is done hence no football for us not even training is a bit of a surprise though. yes alas I think he may be gone and that is why everyone connected is quite so they don't look like baffoons when he does come out and say he is leaving. as for AVB saying he is staying well of course he would say that a, every manager does and b, prices would go up if there was a whiff we had 80+ million. I really really hope not bet if he goes we get a lot in return and if he stays we get more

derbyshire dave

Agree0 Disagree0

Dave, I see what your saying but not training and not playing to get match fit is going to affect his start for Madrid don't you think?

The fans over there will be expecting, well Ronaldo mk2 won't they? They'll be expecting immediate impact from him (I know I would if we spent that money on a player) so it doesn't make sense to me why Bale isn't playing. Yes he may get injured then it's a no go with the transfer but he doesn't have a history with major injuries.

What's your thoughts? Any other fans feel free to share your opinion as I find it strange that players don't want to be in the best possible shape for thier new team.

Agree0 Disagree0

No name, in fairness I agree it would potentially an embarrassing start to the season unless he starts a few weeks later after intense training. he is in the wales squad (squad) so it will be interesting to see whether he plays or not, that may answer all our questions. My honest opinion WAS that no way would AVB put his reputation on the line (after chelski debacle) by selling our best player and not buying more players. I always felt levy had bought into avb's idea's and would HAVE to back him or he would go, add to that the relationship between avb and bale and you start to see the foundations for something big and following the recent purchases it could be even bigger than I originally thought. I think that the constant speculation has got even me contemplating the conspiracy theories so thanks for the reality check let's get bale fit and let's go and win the league as I think we are putting together one of the best squads in the premier league and with AVB and baldini probably the best management team around as well good times ahead coys

Agree0 Disagree0

Dave- yeah I believe it would be a struggle for him with the high expectations. We all have seen in the past how a high transfer fee can effect a player mentally. I don't see that happening with Bale personally but I also didn't see it happening to Torres and looked what happened there.

Yes I do believe Levy has all the faith in AVB and I think he gave him a year to prove himself and then backed him now he's confident AVB is the right man.

I also agree the conspiracy theories as you put it could have something to them. My thoughts are that the whole Bale saga could be so we show ambition by holding onto our best player and they show they tried to sign a potential world star. Hence both fans are content with the situation. Bale then leaves next year and everyone is happy. Either way we are Tottenham regardless of who plays for us and it's looking to be a great season ahead for us.

I get that Capoue MIGHT be an improvement in certain areas, but I still don't understand why we are signing defensive additions for the squad when we still need help up front/in attack, regardless of Bale's staying or going. Adebayor is as useless as my mother-in-law and Defoe is maybe good as a late 2H sub, but Soldado is no spring chicken and he doesn't have the world's best knees- so why not sign another striker and/or attacking midfielder?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

We do need a CB but I agree, where is the creativity coming from. Wasn't unlocking stubborn defences at home our Achilles heal last year?

Northeast Yiddo

Agree0 Disagree0

I think Dembele pushed forward and Paulinho likes the playmaker role will provide extra creativity. Holtby showed signs of being able to see the space for a through ball. Soldado will attract attention, maybe 2 defenders sometimes which will create space - then it will the question of who else can score if as I expect Bale departs. Chadil hopefully.

Agree0 Disagree0

Lloris maybe?

Agree0 Disagree0

As usual us fans not pleased. We've broken our transfer record twice, we're doing our signings earlier than usual and we've signed a striker.

So now the moaning begins about something else, got to laugh.

Your worried about attack when we have, ready for it?
Saldado, Defoe, Ade, Lennon, Townsend, Chadli, Bale, Siggy, Dembele, Holtby, Pauliniho. That's 11 players just off the top off my head first thing in the morning.

Now whilst I agree we could do with more creativity, I think the club are doing things very well this year. May long it continue.

can anyone shed any light on the fitness of kaboul and sandro, are they likely to ready for the big kick off?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Kaboom is doing ball work but still a month or so away as his knee swells up after training. Sandro is working on fitness and will hopefully play a few minutes against Espanol! But still a month away from starting! Sorry to be the bearer of bad news! COYS

Just watched the classic 4-4 draw with arsenal. Amazing to think that was only a few years ago yet I'll list some of the players that played.

Gomes, Corluka, Hutton, Woodgate, Bentley, Jenas, Modric, Pav, Bent. infact I think the only three from the team that are still first team squad players are Benoit, Hudd and Lennon! Mad

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Screamer by Bentley if I remember correctly. Only good thing I can remember him doing for us.

Levy loves a good bargain, and with Anji's troubles, expect a cheeky bid for Willian {Ed030's Note - I don't think Willian would be cheap,They will look to recoup most of the money they have paid for him. }

Looks like Suleyman Kerimov has realised his vision for Anzhi Makhachkala is not working and is looking to cut his outgoings BIG TIME.

With this in mind how realistic would it be to put a bid in for Willian?
We have been linked with him previously and would be a great addition to the Club with or without Bale.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I think this could happen, but it would have to be a cut price 20-30 mil. (If Bale goes, maybe another record broken)

Agree0 Disagree0

Anzhi spent 35million Euros on him so we shall see.
Would love to see him Paulinhio and Sandro all link up, and he can sahre hair tips with BAE and Hudd!

Agree0 Disagree0

With luck at least Hudd will be already gone. and maybe BAE if we get an upgrade in.

Looking at our form in pre season we look quiet unsettled a lot of our players futures been talked about effecting team morale. I can see us starting poorly again in the league, the league starts soon and AVB still dose not know what his team will be. BALE out asap or else he has to commit which is not going to happen, so I can only see a bad start in the league again. I hope i'm wrong COYS

Rumours are swirling in some sites this morning that following some business problems, the owner of Russian team Anzhi Makhachkala (let's just call them Anzhi from here on. !) has embarked on a firesale. This cost-cutting exercise follows hot on the heels of the alleged dismissal of former United coach Rene Meulensteen's as manager, and includes players such as Samuel Eto'o, Yuri Zhirkov and possibly of most interest to Spurs fans, Willian, who we were linked with previously. Let's see how this one pans out. Willian to WHL anyone? COYS

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Willian at £16-18m is ok in this situation, not the crazy money they were talking about before.
Eto'o would be a handy option for a year or so but he'll probably just go to Qatar or anywhere that will still pay him a £gazillion per week!

I've been reading Spurs Rumours for a while, I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one. but who or what is Ed?

I keep seeing Ed001's note, Ed008's note and wondering what people are referring to.

Just curious that's all {Ed001's Note - the editors mate, we check the posts before they are shown and try and remove foul language, abuse etc. Some people ask us about stuff and we try to answer to the best of our ability, though we don't know everything unfortunately.}

I like this one. tv claimed Sir Keith Mills Tottenham said if Gareth Bale wanted to leave they would powerless to stop him. that's funny he's at Cowes Week on the isle of wight and won an event

COWES WEEK

TOTTENHAM Hotspur director, Sir Keith Mills, scored his second bullet of Aberdeen Asset Management Cowes Week today (Sunday), but by the narrowest of margins.

Unlikely he even said anything then {Ed008's Note - Newspapers and TV are really good at posting rubbish!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

All 3 players are currently injured this is the clue.

Bale
Suarez
Rooney

I'd be amazed if all the above 3 are at their current clubs come end of the transfer window.
Personally I don't care about Rooney & Suarez, & I'm sure Levy will get the best deal possible for Bale. I think people need to accept this is going to happen. It's just a matter of when.

And now David Luiz as well!

Sod you as Chairman Dom, prepared to stick your fingers up at an additional £20-£30 Million.

Silly comment. You need to get as much as possible for any player not just Bale. that's another quality signing maybe 2

As much as I'd love Bale to stay, I would more than happily take the money.

Granted last season was an exceptional one, but the season before he only managed to notch up 10 goals all season. I know he wasn't playing centrally quite as much, but even so that's hardly breathtaking. If he has a season like that again, I think we could be lucky to get £20-30m for him next Summer.

Just a thought as everyone seems to be forgetting what's happened before last season.

Dom

Believable0 Unbelievable0

He played further forward last year than he did before. I would prefer bale to stay (doubts about it) and add a couple more and I genuinley think we have a shot at some success. BUT it all needs sorting soon as we could have the start of the season disrupted by this.

derbyshire dave

Agree0 Disagree0

That's what I said Dave, he was played more as an out and out winger in the 11/12 season, rather than through the middle like last year, but even so, all it takes is for a few bad games, people getting on his back about this thing, confidence drains and we lose a potential £60m?

I would love for him to stay, especially with RM wanting to pay what, £25-30m installments. If we qualify for CL then we cover that anyway. But if he is going to go, I'd rather is be sooner rather than later so that we can get reinforcements in sharpish!

Also, with how it's all gone, would people take the £85m from RM or if an alternative bid for say £60-65m came in from Barca, Bayern, Juve etc would you take that? Out of principle, I'd be inclined to take the hit on the fee and stick 2 fingers up to Madrid!

if i'm being honest.
if we are to lose bale I think we should pay whatever to get Marco Reus in. honestly think he's not far off Bales standard! very under rated player IMO!
anyone else agree?
Haymaker

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Hes not underrated. He cost dortmund ~18m, his buyout clause and he was in a champions league runner's up team- First team starter with 15 international caps to his name. I'd say his price is skyhigh.

While i'd love him at the lane its unrealistic

Hey there.

Im an Arsenal supporter, but I want to give my sincere sympathies to the whole Bale situation. We've tried it a few times (especially the Fabregas saga) and it's a s***ty way to spend the summer, hoping the starplayer won't leave. Really hope you can keep Bale and tell RM to go f''k them selves and develop their own talents.

Looking forward to playing against you guys, allways the most thrilling game of the year.

Gooner and hater of spanish megarich douches.

Aros

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Your comments are welcome aros, well at least from me. yes the whole affair has affected our pre season which we would have prefered to be on a lower key than it has been. I think we could have had a sneaky shot at second this year with all that's happening at the other clubs but I think we would have needed to keep bale for this. Otherwise there will be to much of an overhaul of the team and we may not gell as quickly as we need to in order to do well. so my hope is bale stays and we get a couple more players in. look forward to the great rivalry again this season

Agree0 Disagree0

Aros

We are rivals, and long may that last, but we also have interests in common. I have dug out the following post I made a couple of years ago which illustrates this:

12 Aug 2011 10:44:16
It looks like Fabregas will finally get his move, but the whole affair stinks to high heaven.

It often happens that a club finds or develops a world class player who then wants to move on to a bigger or more successful club. With the player unsettled, his club has no option but to put him on the market and invite offers that reflect his current value.

But Fabregas only wants to go to one club, so Barcelona knows that there is no competition in the race to sign him. As a result, they have been making offers that are derisory for a player on a long contract who is widely regarded as the best playmaker in the Premiership.

In an open auction, with mega-bucks clubs like Chelsea, Manchester City, Real Madrid, Paris St Germain and Anzhi Makhachkala all bidding against each other, Fabregas would probably fetch a lot more than the £35m (full of 'ifs' 'ands' and 'buts') that Barcelona are reportedly now prepared to pay.

I don't say there has been active collusion between Fabregas and Barcelona to force this move through on the cheap, but that is effectively what is happening.

Football, don't you love it
KM

I used to respect Barcelona but after this affair I could see no difference between them and Real Madrid
