Sorry to be a pesamist, but I can't see levy spending the money we need to improve the areas of our squad needed without any major outgoings, as without selling bale the max we could get for selling surplus players is around 20mil TOPS.
So Levy, please keep bale and inject the 30-40mil needed added to the possible 10-20mil through sales to allow us to have a serious chance of getting top 4

ive been reading quotes sayin we should get this player and that player but imo we have to be more realistic. bale will be our major signing this summer. I can see a few more ins but nothing like pjanic or higuain or erikson. I think this is how the team will line up

Totally agree, we do this to ourselves each year no wonder we end up disappointed. When you look at the team, we don't really need many players. IMO we could do well just signing two top strikers and bringing through our youth. Carroll for example has been a great player each time he gets a chance but for some reason doesn't get enough time on the pitch. Townsend has always impressed me and with that loan spell he's proven (IMO) he can step up as backup.
Keep dreaming fellow people but like op said our major signing will be keeping Bale.
I posted quite a long time ago we'd be made to feel grateful about Bale staying as our major signing. Levy PR spin special, trying to distract us from the lack of signings until the last minute, then some red-herrings about Messi turning up on the last day of the window for £150m. Only for the window to close just before we could get the deal done, with Odemwingie turning up at midnight for £2m instead.
We won't spend a net £30-40m I doubt. We need 2 strikers but 1 is an absolute must.

Have to agree, the only way BIG money will ever get spent this summer is is Gareth goes. I am worried that our squad will shink even more as has been the trend in recent seasons, I think youth will play a much bigger part next season as 2 or 3 players will probably leave to get the striker ibn that we need.
I am also worried that Villa might be our only striker signing while we keep Ade/Defoe, what if he breaks his leg?

Milan Badelj is one of europes leading interceptors and tacklers in midfield, with an 81% pass success percentage. Why are we not going after a player like this?

Stats don't lie. He might not be Xavi or Xabi Alonso, but would surely be an upgrade to Parker or THudd, backup to Sandro, and partner when we need to be more defensive.

Stats don't lie. - this season there were 137 players with an equal or better pass percentage most notably mark noble, dean whitehead, jack cork, Ashley westwood, Steve sidwell, James perch, David Vaughan and the best of all ki sung yeung who has a 92. 7% pass completion. Shall we sign any of these up as well?
Did these 137 others players also have 3. 7 tackles/game, 1. 5 clearances/game and 3. 5 interceptions/game over 30 games with 5 assists? don't strawman me NoName. If all I cared about was pass rating I would have only mentioned that and not led with the bit about tackles and interceptions, or the comparison to Sandro.

If you are a fan of Sven Bender NoName you should know Badelj was a better passer and defensive midfielder last season, in the same league, for a worse team

SChneiderlin has better defensive stats, but milan's long accurate passes stat and assists make him a much better all around player.
Maybe not in terms of individual ability, but in terms of production Milan surpasses SAndro and Schneiderlin

so apparently g bale, s agent denying he is talking with spurs over a new contract, be a man gareth and tell your agent to do one, you love this club, its fans and avb, you have already heaped praise on the squad and staff and fans for your incredible year so give us the news we all want and sign a new contract tell your agent who at the end of the day is out for his own gains of course he wants teams knocking he will get a payday to retire on, and a note to levy DO NOT let a berbatoss or modric situation happen again, players in done and dusted offe bale what he requires, have the gumption to move forward the four above us have already stated they intend to but big, don't get left behind we are a big club we can attract the worlds best players just do it early
When someone offers you 60 mill you have to think.
you sit on it for a year, he could have a career ending injury, he may lose form, multiple other scenario's.
when someone offers you that kind of money, you don't think, you sell.
If liverpool get a 40-50 mill bid for suarez, he is gone.
Also remember with financial fair play, clubs actually can spend big this season and take on financial penalties the next year. but if they do it once the monitoring period is over, it will be more like a sanction than a penalty.

I believe tottenham should buy erikksen, alderwielden and viktor fischer as erikksen will give us the creativity, alder is a class defneder whom can cover right back as he does for belgium and fischer is a young left wing cover.
i believe that also we need two strikers, I believe these should be either aubameyang from saint etienne, min son from hamburg, damio for international, hulk for zenit or even go for hernandez from united.
to cover the cost, we need to sell all of the dregs that we have at the club like bentley, gomes, townsend, livermore, huddlestone, ade, defoe, BAE and even parker. these will raise at least 40 mil which will give AVB the money he needs to make spurs a title challenger.

If Bale is to be sold then so be it, I would hope spurs do it fast so that the money can be reinvested in to the players that AVB wants. Just don't want a summer like the whole luka modric saga.
