I think that we should back down from leandado diamno deal as he wants to go to italy. We should get kane back to build first team football under his belt. don't spend silly money get someone who is a good young player. Who would you want a 29 year old or a 19 year old. LOOK TO THE FUTURE

Believable0 Unbelievable5

Diamio is 23 or 24 not 29
Paul

Agree5 Disagree0

Sorry but don't think Harry Kane is the future, reasonable young player but isn't coulabilly better?

What an interesting end of the season, UEFA Europa League glory in sight, and Champions League qualification looking very likely. With the lack of investment in our squad in the January window, the question is will the gamble pay off?

The good news continues with retrun to fitness of Kaboul and there are also rumours that Defoe could make the bench for the Arsenal game. Lloris is starting to look like the world class keeper that hoped he would be, Vertonghen and Holtby are looking equally impressive in their first seasons at the club. Lennon has finally become the player we knew he could be, and Bale has become one of the greatest footballers in the world.

On a more negative note we have lost the rock in midfield in Sandro, Adebayor looks like he is trying not to score, and Parker & Gallas are beginning to show their age. Walker has gone from wonderkid to liability, BAE is struggling to find his form from last year. Then we seem to lack real depth in class the midfield as Sigurdson, Livermore, Huddlestone & Dempsey don't really provide that same level of impact when they are given their chances.

Looking at the while squad here are my views regarding building a Champions League team for 2014;

GK - Lloris looks amazing and with Friedel still capable to deputise I am happy with our options in this position.

LB - BAE looks a really good player to me and I am mystified why he is given such a poor write up by many fans. With Fryers now ready to challenge and Vertonghen capable in that position as well we are more than covered.

CB - Vertonghen is simply irresistable and I for one cannot wait to see him paired with Kaboul. Dawson and Caulker provide loads of cover and as such Gallas needs to head on to pasture new.

RB - The most under-rated player at Spurs is Naughton. He has been made to play out of position and still faired well at LB. It is time to allow this brilliant prospect a season challenging in his natural position as RB, and I am sure he will demostrate the point I am making. Either way Walker needs the challenge for his position as he has been the biggest under achiever this season behind Adebayor.

CDM - Sandro is simply breath taking, but I fear the wheels are falling off Scott Parker. It is time we allowed this brilliant servant a graceful exit, and invested in the long term target of Joao Moutinho. He would provide an almost impenetrable midfield partnership with Sandro, and has the passing ability of Modric. Livermore can help provide the cover with Huddlestone for cup games.

LM - I think it is blatently obvious that Gareth Bale is goign to Madrid. There is little doubt that they will quiblle over the £60m price tag after this seasons performances, and at that price there is little doubt Levy will be forced to sell. The question is who can we bring in to fill that void. Surely that player needs be Willian who looks an amazing talent and one who would surley suit the style of football at Spurs. Nani could also prove to be real value if Sir Alex allows him to leave in the summer. I personally believe we need both if we are to have the depth on the wings, and Willian capable of covering on the RM for Lennon as he is equally adept with both feet.

CAM - Ironically I think we already have the perfect solution for this role in none other than Dembele. With Sandro and Moutinho playing in the deeper roles, it would prove the prefect opportuntiy to have Dembele move into a more prominent position. With Holtby also able to play in that position. I would allow the superb talent of Tom Carroll to develop alongside Dembele and Holtby, and let Dempsey and Sigurdson move on to pastures new.

CF - Defoe has blown hot and cold for many years, looking irressistable for a few games then hits long barren runs and injury lapses. Adebayor apparently seems to lack the conviction to play after securing a permanent contract, and as such I would allow both to exit over the summer. It is time to bring a world class player like Hulk, and force Newcastle to part with the ever improving Papiss Cisse.

The squad would have the depth and balance to allow Dembele to drop into deeper positions if required as well as Holtby, and Willian would provide the balance and competition on the wings. So you are probably thinking fantasy football with all these signing, well let's look at the maths.

Champions League qualification and Top 4 finish would be worth an additional £38m, then add the likely sale of Bale to Real Madrid at £60m. Then add Gallas £1m, Parker £4m, Defoe £8m, Adebayor £10m, Sigurdson £7m & Dempsey £4m adding another £34m. We also still have £28m from the sales made in the last windows. Total £160m, which sounds a lot but if we sell Bale then we need to think big picture.

Willian £20m
Moutinho £25m
Papiss Cisse £15m
Hulk £35m
Nani £10m
Total £105m

Expect Levy to bank the £55m left over as we secure the funding options for the stadium. The future looks fantastic, and we have some really nice youth talents starting to challenge for a place. I actually think we would look stronger as a club with the proceed from Bale, but there is little doubt the boy needs Real Madrid if he is to find out if he can really challenge Messis and Ronaldo for the top spot.

The Oracle

Believable3 Unbelievable16

Oh oracle. You have to applaud your dedication to being a complete looney

Agree11 Disagree1

I'm speechless, did you really write all that with a straight face? Some valid comments, but overall about as realistic as us challenging for the title last season.

Agree5 Disagree3

Ur nuts mate the money left over from other seasons has been banked we will never see it again, nani only 10 mill? And the wages of him and hulk? Plus as we have found out its hard to get rid of the players we don't want/need. I supose u did not say damiao lol pmsl your off your rocker lol
Paul

Agree3 Disagree1

I see you are finally conseding defeat in your Olympic Stadium stance then. About time too.

Agree3 Disagree1

Wow what nonsense, 1. Willian joined Anzhi already for over 30ml
2. We couldn't afford hulks wages in a million years
3. Moutinho has nowhere near the passing range of modric & if psg are willing to pay that for him there welcome to him, good player but 15ml tops
You do make some good points about needing to strengthen because if we don't bale should leave, we don't have to spend a fortune but there are players out there we wouldn't necessarily break the bank for that would improve us, the likes of Gary Medel & Ever Banega in midfield, Martin Caceres in defence (I'd sell naughton he's a decent player but not good enough for a team challenging yet)
David Villa will move in summer for probably no more than 10ml I'd b ontop of that if I was levy bring in a young striker with potential as well someone like Alvaro Morata or Shawn Parker,
If we were to sell bale I'd have one of lamela, Munian, Draxler or at a push if we could. Afford or convince him to join DiMaria
Espur

Agree4 Disagree2

Never said which stadium, as the money would be needed in both proposals.

Agree0 Disagree1

I still think spurs should put in an offer for baines. Think he would be much better than BAE.

Mk1

Agree5 Disagree1

I am dumbfounded, what happened to Damiao? No longer part of your certain plans for the club.

~Croatian Yod

Agree3 Disagree0

And Damiao will definitely sign, right?

Agree2 Disagree0

I didn't think the asylum would let Oracle escape again.

Agree3 Disagree0

Not sure you are in a position to call anything as blatantly obvious, Oracle. You can't even get supposed done deals right so maybe leave the transfer speculation out of your opinion pieces because you generally have a good point about players and performances but you let yourself down by trying to be. well an oracle.

I mean you're talking about us buying Willian for £20m when he just moved clubs in the last window for £30m. Get a clue.

just an observation it was good to see the whole squad run to avb after bales wonder goal at west ham on monday, it shows a great camarardery at the club when you hear about terry and benitez squabbling and wenger and bould struggling for an understanding, its good to see the players not only respecting the manager but actively showing to the watching public there support for him, we are probably doing what we have never done before right at the mnute and that's the old Manchester United trate winning when not playing well and it wasnt great on monday that's for sure, still not certain why the need for adeybyor at the moment agin to coin a phrase he needs one going in off his backside but tobe fair the header he had in the 2nd half was worse than bents a few years ago and we all know who could have scored that (harrys missis)even with her arse come on ade its about time you paid for the jet home we had to supply score a goal lively or at least look interested and for gods sake keep your head on sunday because that little wind up twonk wilshere will be out for the same outcome

Believable3 Unbelievable3

I wonder if we get CL next season if Bale will stay to continue playing with AVB. just a thought after the way the appear to respect and enjoy each others commitment to winning.
