When rvp came out with his listening to his inner child statement as soon as I seen him in a utd shirt the Kate Bush song The Man with the child in his Eyes.. was stuck in my head, I'm surprised Match of Day didn't use it when he scored wkend. It goes
Ooh he's here again
The man with the child in his eyes
But for the goons it could b changed to
Ooh u sold your best player again
The man with the child in his eyes

WTF - if we fork out £25-30m this week and it's on a goalkeeper and midfield enforcer then bye-bye top 5!
And if we then ship out most out of; Hudd, Dawson, Bentley, GDS and JJ (who I actually think he may keep, another midfielder who can run around a lot when we don't have the ball to go with Parker, Livermore, Sandro and maybe M'Vila) then what on earth is our squad size going to be, 18-20? And as for senior, first XI calibre, hardly that - it will definitely be totally unbalanced; 4 keepers, 5 holding midfielders and 2 senior strikers. Signings have to be at least one creative/goal-scoring midfielder and still a decent striker. Thursday/Sunday in Europa League with current squad will destroy our league form.
Hope I'm wrong!

Dont want to piss on your parade , but I know that Tim Sherwood owns property in Malaga , could that be the reason .

So modders has gone then....it's gonna be interesting to see if this partnership with real is going to mean anything, and if so might we see someone come the other way? I guess we will soon see. I'm thinking maybe a fringe real striker on loan? What do you make of this Ed? {Ed041's Note - its a partnership for young players and franchise and coaching etc. it doesnt mean we will get there top players or anything but in the future haveing that partnership will help any moves for top players.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Arsenal have a partnership with Barcelona, it's abit of a one way partnership though!!!

I think we need to invest in quality, rather than quantity.I know many people will laugh and say we have no chance, but i reckon we should go for Falcao and Moutinho. We have the funds, just a big job convincing them that we are a club that is progressing in the right direction. Both have worked under AVB,which should help any negotiations.

Believable3 Unbelievable3

Atletico paid £35 mil for Falcao and he has got even better since so you can add another 5-10 mil onto that transfer fee.

Levy would never pay that kinda money for 1 player. Thats's why we have no chance of getting Moutinho valued at 25-30 mil never mind Falcao!

Agree1 Disagree1

Falcao doesn't want to leave and will be £40 million plus wants CL football if he does leave. If anyone buys him, I expect it to be Chelski, they have the money and the allure. As for Moutinho; I can't see it, Levy will blow all of the Modric fund on Willian and then panic buy.
Top four is slipping away fast...

Agree3 Disagree4

You have about as much chance of signing Falcao as you do of having a 3some with Kelly Brooke and Beyonce whilst having your balls tickled by Halle Berry.

If your Simon Cowell then i apologise, he can because he does what he wants when he wants.

Not sure you should be so excited about this "tie up" with Madrid. Guess in reality in means you'll play them occasionally in pre season and get the odd loanee who cant get in there squad at best.

Thgerefore cast offs from a team you wish you could challenge. Looks like you'll be in the shadows for a while yet....

Believable2 Unbelievable5

That gooner jealousy is really starting to stink isn't it. Podolski, giroud, gervinho, cazorla, chamakh
LMFAO. Scoring loads aren't they lol lol

Agree3 Disagree2

Real madrid cast offs such as kaka, sahin and diarra would still be good in our squad.

Agree1 Disagree1

I imagine we will be in their shadow for a long time, they are the best or second best club in the world! I think it will be more of a commercial deal, I don't think anyone thinks they are going to be sending ozil and benzema pur way!

Agree1 Disagree1

Deal has only been done and the manky mob are already bitter over it!

The deal is not only about pre-season friendlies and possible loanees, Spurs will get 1st refusal of any player that Real are looking to sell and vice versa, don't get me wrong if Real value the player at say £20 million then that's what we would have to pay and would depend on the player wanting to join us but sounds like a good bit of business by Levy......... Read all the posts on here and ask yourself whether this pessimism and fickle nature is befitting a title contender fan base. Anyone would think we hadn't finished 4th and cemented our position in recent years. I challenge any of you to look at the team when Levy took over, and then look at the decade prior to that to remind yourselves how dark the clouds were over White Hart Lane.

So let's look at the current transfers, we have sold our midfield maestro for £33.2m and lost arguably the best defender ever to play for Spurs. In the last two seasons we have cleared the decks of Krancjar, Corluka, Pavlyuchenko, Keane, Pletikosa, Saha, Nelson, Bassong, Crouch, Palacios, Hutton, Woodgate, O'Hara, Alnwick and Dervitte. Anyone we think we hadn't been busy with all those deals, and the pessimist will elude towards the fact we still have Jenas, Gomes and Bentley.

If we stop for for a moment and consider the signing of Vertonghen and Sigurdsson, and then include the emerging talent of Caulker, Kane, Livermore and Naughton things look slightly better. I imagine you are all concerned that we need a goalkeeper post Freidel, a midfielder or two and a striker. So let's look at where we are in each position;

GK - Butland is our long term target, but with Stekelenburg, Cesar and Lloris all targeted, expect one to come in next week. Expect Gomes to leave and both present and future options covered either now or in January.

Defence - The high line doesn't suit players like Dawson, but we already have superb cover with BAE, Rose, Caulker, Kaboul, Vertonghen, Gallas, Walker and the rising superstar Naughton.

Midfield - After the departure of Modric and the worrying inclusion of Jenas things do look a little bleak. One needs to consider the impact of the brilliant Sigurdsson, and then consider we still have Bale, Livermore, Parker, Sandro, Van Der Vaart, Jenas, Huddlestone, Bentley & Lennon. Clearly Huddlestone is out of favour and most feel Jenas and Bentley are not good enough. With Moutinho, Dembele, Willian, M'Villa, Meireles and even Nani and Anderson on the radar, one would be amazed if we didn't sign at leat two suitable replacements.

Strikers - Defoe looks somewhere near his very best and Adebayor offers a real threat upfront. Then include the current potential of Kane and the future potential of Coulibally. One player that has been rumoured to be leaving is Dos Santos, but AVB is a bigger fan and his style and ability as a supporting striker does support the high line system. We have been linked with Hulk, Llorente, Remy, Damiao and Sturridge to mention a few. AVB has publically stated he isn't going to sign any more strikers, and that is technically true as we have already signed Leandro Damiao at the time of his report. The deal was pending the funds from the Modric sale and next week Damiao will join to fulfill our ambition to challenge.

So enough of your pessimism, and just you wait and see what treasure await us next week. I for one am excited and cannot wait for our season to be set alight.

The Oracle {Ed008's Note - He's back!

Agree2 Disagree2

Despite The Oracle's history there is a lotmof sense here.

Agree1 Disagree2

Hold on a second!!

"So let's look at the current transfers, we have sold our midfield maestro ..."

That comma should not have been used. The words "So let's look at the current transfers" are the opening of a paragraph and quite a 'bold' statement. To follow them with a comma completely undermines their importance and throws the whole equilibrium of the paragraph off balance. Anything you may have said after this has to be taken with a pinch of pepper.

P.S. "Let's"??? Short for 'Let is'?? Meaning you said - "So let is look at the current transfers, we have sold our midfield maestro...". Your Grammar is terrible.

That is all

Nothing new here, just a summary .. I hope you are correct about LD, everything else in here is repeat of countless other posts. Though I'd question Gallas and Rose fitting AVBs style ..think Gallas is only there to provide on field leadership at the moment and once Verts is settled in the EPL and Kaboul comes back expect to see Gallas on the bench, possibly behind Caulker.

Joe Lewis should be getting grief not just Levy.

Believable4 Unbelievable1

Does anyone know how much control over spending Levy actually has, or is lewis actually pulling the strings from behind the scenes with his big stake in ENIC group?

I reckons its more Lewis .... As he feels he's invested enough and now wants it to sustain itself ....

27 Aug 2012 14:55:29
If you look at our targets (with the exception of Willian and Isco) and our current squad, you'd have to say we're gonna have the most athletic, physical side in the league. Already we have Vertonghen, Kaboul, Caulker, Walker, Sandro, Sigurdsson, Bale, Livermore, Adebayor, who are all big, strong athletes. M'vila, Dembele, Remy, Damiao all fit into this category. Certainly can't see many teams matching us physically this season, especially with AVB's high intensity, pressing and passing game. At least we shouldn't have to see Spurs being bullied this year (at least now Lukaku's out the way!).

Not a rumour but personal opinion, Levy may have pulled of a masterstroke with the partnership with RM, however unless we manage to sign at least 3 players (possibley RM ones) then he will have still screwed up our transfer window. I am not going to shout Levy out or anything but he needs to pull something out of the bag.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

Totally agree mate. We have a supremely talented young squad, manager, the best fans in the world and a chairman who I think is the best in the league. We are on the cusp of something great, we just need a few more pieces and if levy fails to deliver then it will set us far back. Our squad atm I would call favourites for 5th. Dembele 15 million, Remy 18 million just with modric money alone, not to mention anything else we might have

Agree2 Disagree2

Original poster here, yeah I would agree with those transfer targets, possibly a cheeky loan bid for kaka aswell :)

Ha!!!!
So, for all of you who were sticking the knife into DL, want to keep doing it?
We now have a tie up with one of the Worlds richest clubs, one of Footballs biggest brands with an in into some of the biggest commercial markets going and we get first dibs on any up and coming talent that they want to sell/loan out. All that for the signature of Modric at a preferential price and, naturally, first dibs on Bale when we decided to sell him.
As for the fella who laughed at the idea that Kaka was going to come to us, laugh no more, it COULD happen, we would only have to make a contribution to his wage a la Adebayor.
See? Levy isnt quite the useless c**t people think he is, right?
Anybody want to p*ss on the parade and be overly negative now?
Supwer Y*d

Believable5 Unbelievable2

We will be there b.tch in the tie in. The get first dibs on our top players like bale and walker. We will get offered their old uns like carvalho and kaka.
I think it I'd more about advertising and global advertising. We will play in pre season tournaments and stuff
If you expect first dibs at the likes of higuain and benzema, forget it.
Can just hear the call from mourinho to levy now ' sorry Daniel but he wants champions league football, now, about Gareth........!
Don't get me wrong, it will be a good thing for spurs but its not as earth shattering as you make out

Agree5 Disagree0

Well said mate

Agree3 Disagree0

Super person I completly agree .... The guy Is a genius when it comes to buisness .... And is good for buisness and football : )
Bear yid

Agree3 Disagree2

To the first commenter, even if that is the case I would rather sell to madrid for 10 million less than to any clubs in england. It just gives us more leverage with chavski and citeh

Agree1 Disagree1

Forget about deals for DAMAIO, willian and llorente. Levy is tighter than a nats arse an there owners won play ball.
I think the remy rumour has started again because the media are stuffed at knowing who is coming. I'm sure they just making that up again.
My opinion is one of lloris/ stekelenburg
M'villa
Isco
Hjk (I'm hoping)
They would be what I would try for to improve us as a team but who knows what levy is thinking.

Agree1 Disagree1

Not quite sure this is as fantastic that people are making out, don't get me wrong to have a link to a club like real is good, however how many of their players are really come to us, only the very old ones at the end of their careers or unproven youngsters looking for first team football, yes business wise it makes sense opening up bigger markets commercially, but really feel it will benefit Real Madrid more, with the likes of bale, walker and sandro in our team the likely hood of them wanting CL football shortly will give RM first pick on them. Glad to see Modrat go at long last. However with DL seemingly offering shirt buttons for every player we are linked with, can't see us signing any quality replacements, especially since there is only about 100hrs left of this transfer window and Spurs with DL in control seem to take about 3wks to sort out any transfers in/out (Vertonghan, Modrat etc), have a horrible feeling the window will close without any real business getting done. I sincerely pray I am wrong and begging DL to prove me to be a pessamistic pratt. But if he doesn't, I will be the guy in the West Stand Lower with the Levy out banner at every home game this season.

THFC4EVER

Agree0 Disagree0

Bit aggressive there super y.d aren't ya.
I think we need to reserve judgement and wait till levy spends that money before Friday cos if he doesn't, then, we are still in sh.te.
I think he needs to break our transfer record, maybe twice, before I go screaming his brilliance yet again.

Agree1 Disagree0

Didn't work out to well for us with Sahin

Agree1 Disagree0

Levy has come unstuck teams know he is desperate for a striker and will demand top dollar everyone now know that willan is available and for what price dont be surprised to see him end up else where teams will not playing around in regards to transfers a lot of teams are looking at strikers if another team steps in with cl football then tuttah willan and teams will switch there main targets when things get tight in the t/w..
with so many teams still in cl/europa footie still looking at strikers ,,

Agree0 Disagree0

Prehaps a good thing, Liverpool paid a ridiculous price just to loan him for a year

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Aug 2012 10:39:45
It would seem to me that the club have the money that it is going to get from the Moderic deal plus anything it gets from other outs. So in theory should be £40 million ish.To date in the transfer window the net spend seems to be about £6 million.
We will know in the next few days if the club are just re cycling or going for it, if two or three top top player are brought in then wow, but if the signings are restricted to say players like Merieless then the quality of the team will be less.
The real trouble is that clubs know Spurs have got at least £20+ million from the sale of Moderic so won't let their players go cheap and as the clocks ticking it seems unlikely that at this stage there won't be any real top quality bargains. What that means is that clubs who really don't need to sell wont buckle in the same way.
My guess is one midfielder, possibly William, for about £20 million, won't be less as they turned down that type of offer from Chelsea plus one or maybe two fringe players on loan from Real Madrid.

Please, please everyone get off Levy's back. He has just managed to secure a commercial agreement with Madrid, sell Modric for £33m and in the words of Guillem Balague "Spurs have cleverly used Madrids defeat......Madrid paid more than they expected......I am convinced Levy is on of the smartest men in football"

is thudd staying? his passing from deep is one of best around if he sat next to sandro his clever eye for the through ball and passing accuracy could increase our creative play greatly the season we qualified for cl he was putting bale and lennon through at will remember the paper headline that year sayin he should be called hoddlestone we still would need a modrat replacement, i know thudd has a lack of pace but sandro has a workrate that would cover this interested to hear your opinions
mattb

Believable3 Unbelievable0

I think that does sound promising, but you have to remember he hasn't played much in the last 2 seasons and looked very rusty in preseason. I think this loan will be good for him

Agree2 Disagree0

How can anybody compare him to Hoddle FFS!!!!
Well its just my opinion that we, as most top clubs, are now set up on the pitch to NOT play long ball stuff. Football is now played on the ground with very mobile and agile players and the ball is moved in, generally, quick short passes. Huddlestone is a player not of this style, his mobility is p*ss poor and certainly not the kind of player who would find himself in the first team of most of the Premiership big guns. Ok, he can shoot and his long range passing is excellent, he is the perfect player for a Sunderland/Villa/Norwich kinda side, not for us because long ball is never going to be an option!
