We're being linked with Paulinho and Bernard and both these boys look like they have bags of talent but could they handle the EPL?
We really need a creative midfielder so why not try and get Cabaye from Newcastle, has fantastic vision and an eye for goal and has proved he can cut it in the EPL. Not sure how long he has left on his contract or what kind of fee he would command but can't see it being the £17-£18 million we're apparently willing to spend on Paulinho

Am I the only Spurs fan who seems to think John Bostock wasn't given a fair chance? he's quality based on ability and had bags of potential? the lad had a poor attitude which let him down sadly! Maybe we signed him too early in his career?
I reckon we could have ruined his career signing him when we did. I think he was badly advised. A big club come in for you and offer 10 times the money than you're getting. You're under pressure from your agent, maybe even your family. If he'd stayed where he was he could now be a pivotal player for a team now in the PL. now he's pretty much finished.
Josh
Such a shame, I was very excited when he joined. Met Ron Atkinson when he signed and he said he thought he was the best youngster out there. Don't employ him as a scout lol.

I would rather sign Bernard then Pualinho what does everyone else think? Both would be nice, maybe even a third Brazilian (not going to mention his name it comes up on here too much)
Listen, Soldado and Paulinho are reasonable targets for us to have at the prices you are quoting, but if you think your picking up Lamela at that price, your going to be very disappointed. He's just had a great season for Roma, on the back of a hefty transfer fee which comes close to £15m, so I'm sorry to say that he won't be coming to the Lane anytime soon. Shame though, because he is a very talented player.
Let's just look to secure Bale first and then supplement him with the likes of the other two guys named above, and perhaps a LB by the name of Shaw.?

Heard Everton want Gareth bale.
They know Jelavic is our nr. 1 target so they will do business if we give them £ 12 millon & Aaron Lennon
Yet another wind up merchant. Jelavic,?, 12 mill plus Lennon!
Either your pi**ed or I am!
25 Jun 2013 22:25:07
But error lennon is carp? Jelavic is "world class" according to Everton fans! That is unless we go for Arsavin

So this is my wish list. (I have gone for realistic, rather than dreaming).
I have used the 50 mill avb is supposed to have.
Ins:
Soldado 20mill
Lamela 17 mill
Paulinho 18 mill
Outs:
Huddlestone
Parker
Essou ekkotto
Defoe
That lot will hopefully bring in 10 - 20 mill.
This means a net spend of about 30 mill, I think levy needs to do this to keep avb and bale happy. I also think this would push us into top 4 territory.
Danhors84
Pretty realistic I think and pretty much what we need. I wouldn't worry as much about our midfield creativity if we had Sandro back and signed Paulinho to release Dembele a bit more and, if we had a couple of decent strikers to take the pressure off of Bale to always have to score all the goals (and make them for himself in the first place).
They key this season is going to be Kaboul and Sandro hitting form and staying fit. If we get that and make the three signings above or similar then it's about as much as we can expect. The trouble is in the past couple of years we haven't made the signings we need so it's not certain we'll be that lucky!
Simmo
PS - should be able to get a couple of million for Gomes as well.
Simmo
Yes, this is just about what we need, although it would be good if we got another natural wide player in. What about Nani? I know he is a bit inconsistent but he can play on either wing and does get a few goals, not sure of his situation at MU?
Hythe Spur
Lamela price might be light though, didn't realise the entire deal for him was over €20m so would be higher price than that after a good season.
Simmo
In that case someone young and promising like affelay? Although I do have my worries about him. Tello? Maybe we need to think outside the box and scout around. Surely there is another good young belguin player lol. At over 20 mill lamela is out of the question. Sounds like good news regarding Paullinho.
Anni also would not be a bad shout if wages were okay.
Danhors84
Agreed, I posted about Tello before, apparently he has an £8.5m buy-out clause - should be looking at that price.
Simmo
Seems to be a lot of good belgiums about!

I'm a chelsea fan but I will say it's a shame you guys are missing out on a special talent like Bernard because Porto can offer part ownership. To me this should be far more concerning to UEFA than ffp but there's so many things wrong that its tough to decide where to start.
Tk {Ed002's Note - In which case would you be willing to trade all of the additional broadcast income that English clubs get to give a level-playing field? I would doubt it.}
I realize they have far less income to work with but I believe even serie a teams can use part ownership and the likes of milan and juve aren't broke. As for your response it's pretty obvious the playing field isn't level when you have teams like Madrid bringing in ungodly figures that they can work with.
Tk
Not having a go at you TK but Chelsea have hardly made it an even playing field either with your disproportionate money spending.
To the last responder I completely agree I just think there are more basic issues that UEFA should fix rather than allowing big teams to have a monopoly by enforcing ffp.
