Please it can't be true, just when I was going to jump on the I love Levy bandwagon, it's been said that we aren't getting Soldado because of £2 million and Looserpool were going to pay the asking price! For f***s sake sort this deal out! It will be bad enough being let down by Levy's penny pinching ways yet again, but to loose him to a mid table team that lives in the past, that's taking the piss!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

If its 2m it will be shameful that we let him slip away. I suspect terms of payment may also be a factor.

Agree0 Disagree0

We do it all the time. I bet if we dnt sign him we won't go out and sign anyone else for £20+ mil why does he do it. Prob just to shut us up
Mr g

Agree0 Disagree0

I've defended levy many times (even against yourself Davo) but if we don't get Saldado then I'll be devastated. I agree with everything you say Davo. We CANNOT let Liverpool get this player!

Agree0 Disagree0

You are in for a disappointing season. Stop trying to play with the big boys. Concentrate on beating Fulham and Southampton. Enjy Bale in his last season at WHL and use the memories to keep you warm.

You are and always will be in the shadow of clubs like Liverpool.

Agree0 Disagree0

Liverpool casting a shadow over us. mmm I think not sorry. Had you used Man U as the example I would have begrudgingly accepted that fact.

Agree0 Disagree0

Listen to this joker. Always in the shadow of Liverpool? Haha pretty sure even West Brom done the double over you. Sad sad lonely little man

Agree0 Disagree0

Is this coming from the team that finished 11 points below us and don't forget below Everton

Agree0 Disagree0

Liverpool rely on history as an argument case.
Well mr scouser, we won the league on '61. Have that.
We all have history. It's the present you need to look at and your club is an embarrassing shambles.
You ain't even the best club in scouse land.

Agree0 Disagree0

How much money have these Micky mousers wasted on Downing, Carroll, Henderson, Allen, Adams, Borini, Aquilani. Mostly from King Kenny. Great signings. Fight for a place in top 10 beckons. Still living in the 80's. All the best when Suarez leaves you'll be lucky for a top half of the table.

Agree0 Disagree0

I am a liverpool fan, and was on your site looking for inside information on Bale to help me decide where to place my bet, in terms of his desination, because he is most certainly going.

I then noticed your comments about my club. I can't let that go without at least attempting a defence.

I think you are vastly misguided if you think Spurs are a bigger club than LiverpoOl, we have won the European cup a record number of times, have the second highest number of league titles, the record number of league cup wins and the third highest fa cup wins.
You don't compare to that, you have won the league once in what, 50 years, and only trophy you have won in the last 10 is the league cup.

During which time we have won the league cup, more than once, the european cup, the uefa cup, the fa cup and finished second in the league.

People barely know your club outside england, believe me I spend about a quarter of the year in spain and your not just on the radar. If there is a european super league created in the next 10 years you won't be asked to join, but don't worry, you'll win some english league titles because stoke and west ham will be your closest rivals.

You've defined success by finishing 4th ( and not even acheiving that) history doesn't remember who finishes 4th ( it doesn't even remember who finishes 2nd) you've finished above us for a couple of succesive seasons, well done, enjoy, because the greatest period in your modern history only adds up to failure for us.

Come back to me when your trophy cabinet actually gets opened again

Andy H

Agree0 Disagree0

Andy goes on to prove the point of above poster who says they "rely on history as a argument case" got to laugh at these simple fans.

Agree0 Disagree0

We've finished above Liverpool for 4 seasons now, very comfortably. It took two totally comedy goals from us in a game we dominated for you to finally get even another win over us recently, those have been few and far between for a while as well.
Fantastic history and won a few pots in recent times so fair play but, in terms of current performance and overall standing over several years, Spurs are stronger. League table speaks for itself and will do again. If we lose Bale we'll manage, if you lose Suarez. we'll see.

Wandered how long this would take to kick off, I personally think Gareth Bale will be playing for us one more season and will agree the move for the following season, good luck to him and I will wish him all the best.
However, this situation will depend on Daniel Levy giving him assurances and showing real intent by buying a WOLRD CLASS striker/strikers.
The ball is well and truly in your court Mr Levy.

I think I speak for all spurs fans.

IM GETTING PISSED OFF WITH REAL and the SPANISH PRESS.
It's so obvious that real are using the press to unsettle bale.
I think it's time for levy to show a different side of him and report real to FIFA or come out with bale and say:
He is not for sale.
And if he was for spite sell him else where
Mr g

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Unfortunately we can't report them to fifa as marca are classified as a newspaper so can say what they want even if it is Real Madrid's puppet

Firstly, can someone please let me know what time the game kicks off tomorrow? I've heard about half 10, wanna double check though.

Secondly, a couple of points from an argument on the rumors page I'd like to help clear up.
1. Bale being on the cover of a video game that hasn't even been released yet doesn't mean he'll be staying at spurs. Think about it, they just change the image on the cover, job done.
2. No Bale isn't as good as CR7 (yet) but he joined Madrid in 2009, so 5 years ago nearly. Prices have been inflated a lot in those times so 80mill is prob about right for a player of his caliber and potential. It has nothing to do with comparing the two players.

Hope I've helped, your welcome

Not counting my chickens yet as a spurs fan never can, but assuming we do get soldaldo for somewhere near their £26 mil price, which players or how much approximately would need to be made up through sales. Would be a massive spend for us and we'd have a very impressive squad. IMO I think that:

Dempsy
Ade
Benoit
Parker
Huddlefro

Are pretty expendable and would be more than happy to give those players for the tallent we have coming in, and would still feel we have a squad with enough depth to leave us covered in most areas. What are peoples thoughts on who will/might/should leave the clubb this window?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Hopefully all that lot plus Gomes, Livermore, Rose, Obika, Kane, any more?

Agree0 Disagree0

All very well getting rid of Ade and Dempsey but signing Soldado alone still leaves us as short up front as last season! Ade is devastating on his day, just doesn't have enough of them. Chadli replaces Dempsey but numbers still thin up there. Whenever Soldado (or whoever) is not playing then we'll be as light on options yet again.

as we are all frantically searching site to find out if we have sorted the saldardo deal, but once again all the reported rumours are that we have fallen short of a couple of million in our bid. this is beginning to become a similar pattern for spurs and Mr Levy. please let it be wrong. Levy loves playing hard ball but its messing up our season
mr g

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I'm hoping, as rumoured, it's Valencia playing hard ball and trying to squeeze levy by 'leaking' info. If the scousers come in, it's because Suarez is gone.
Their president said we had bid €26million + add ons. He also let slip that his contract is running down and, more importantly, the player 'wants to leave'. He will leave and I think they are squeezing levy and also, apparently, they signed Kevin gremeiro (spelling) today on a 5 year deal and they are skint. They need the money.

Agree0 Disagree0

They didn't sign Kevin gremeiro he went sevilla the rumours are there trying to get osvaidlo from roma for 15 mill as cover

Levy needs to stop messing around and just pay the money Valencia want before we end up signing no strikers or one nowhere near as good.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Many years ago, when Malcolm Allison was splashing the cash at City, this joke did the rounds.

Allison went into a shop and ordered a box of their best cigars.

"That will be £100, " the tobacconist said.

"I'll give you £200, " Allison replied.

I don't want to hear that joke told about us.

those anyone else think the reports about bale are given to the papers by real mardrid to try a conivince bale to go cause if so hope we can get action taken against them cause really starting to get annoyed with them

Gareth Bale wouldn't of handed in a transfer request, but if Real Madrid bid over 80 million it would give Tottenham something to stew over. Its a lot of money and could be re-invested. I am a spurs fan and even I am not sure wether it be good to sell him for over 80 million or not. If it was re-invested in squad maybe would be good idea, I rather he stayed.

come on levy, pay the extra £2million Valencia want. don't wait for them to budge. Liverpool will pay the asking price if suarez goes

Is it true Baldini has left Spain after failing to sign Soldado. Reports saying we will only go as high as 24m & they want 26m which Liverpool are supposedly willing to pay.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Now Manchester City have Aguero, Dzeko, Negredo, Jovetic and Guidetti- Does anyone else think we should try for Dzeko or a cheeky loan offer for Guidetti? Both very good strikers. Keep JD and (hopefully) get Soldado, that would actually look like a very good strike force IMO. Play Bale on the right so he can come in off his left foot and play chadli on the left in the 4-3-3.

Ok.

Can I have Ed's or anyone elses opinion.

Levy is usually quite tight in transfer windows with a policy of selling to create funds for purchases.

We have bought Paulinho and Chadli and things are looking good on Soldado.

However we haven't sold anyone yet.

Levy knows as soon as Bale goes we will be paying well over the odds for players as they know we have money. Could he be buying early with a deal in place for bale to go to Madrid once we have finished our business?

Even if this is the case i'd take Paulinho, Chadli, Soldado and another player in exchange for bale and would still class it as a good transfer window.

Thoughts everyone?

NorthernSpur {Ed001's Note - I was thinking it was more along the lines of buying to convince Bale to stay. Show a bit of ambition and intent to get back in the Champions League.}

Would like to see a deal done with Valencia: €30m for Soldado & Cissoko. It would sort out our 2 problem positions with 2 quality players

P-to-the-S

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Reports coming out that the deal is off. Apparently we tried changing the terms (again) and our €26million offer was rebuffed.
This could be another levy masterpiece.

Agree0 Disagree0

Rumours now saying that baldini is on his way home. Empty handed.
Soldado agent saying that the offer of 26m euros + add ons was rejected, so we left.
Others saying it was agreed, then we heard Valencia was to announce a new striker signing, so levy reduced our offer.
I dearly hope the last bit isn't true. Our name will be mud. You can't mug off other teams to save a few quid, or perhaps levy can.

Agree0 Disagree0

Levy is in the USA at the moment so isn't having an active role in these negotiations yet. It's Baldini doing the talking. I therefore do not believe this "rumour"

Agree0 Disagree0

Not sure they can rebuff it as he has a release clause of 30m euros, which is around £25m

Agree0 Disagree0

We haven't eat the release clause.
They want €20million up front and €10million in instalments.
We have offered (apparently), €26million + €4million in possible add ons if we reach certain targets, CL etc.
That isn't meeting the release clause in their opinion.
We will probably won't sign him because levy likes to play hard ball over a couple of million euros. This is probably why bale and avb will eventually leave, in my opinion. Just pay the money, move on to the next one.

Agree0 Disagree0

Spurs Dave I'm sure levy has a phone and I'm sure baldini will have to call levy before agreeing anything.

I really hope holtby and siggy get their chance this year as both have bags of potential. Sadly I fear tom carrol won't get many opportunities. We really do have strength in the midfield. I also hope avb plays a front 3 of bale chadli and a striker rather than playing lennon.

Finger x for saldardo
Lets just hope we get these players and levy dnt sell bale then ill never say a bad word against levy again
Go on dan do the business
Mr g

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Looking at the training pics on the official site with chadli. Where is bale?
He is in no training pics. I saw him there on TV yesterday when we arrived but he hasn't been seen since.
I can see chadli as his long term replacement but I'm hoping its not sooner than we think.

Who are you and what have you done with the real mr g?
