Lewis Holtby played for the U21's today and scored a 30 yard screamer. Personally I think he can fill the Creative Midfield role for the team providing he can stay fit! So TBH IF we miss out on Willian and don't buy anyone else wether we keep or lose GB, I for one am really happy with the overall team.

It has been a breath of fresh air getting most of our business done early in the tsfr window. Yes it is always nice to get more quality players in but ATM I am more than happy and our team is a lot stronger than last years team!

Having said that if we were to go for more players, why not get Marco Reus or Mesut Ozil? As for cover at CB I would take a punt on Micah Richards.

Do you guys think that bow the willian deal is likely off thy maybe now is a good time to put in a bid for eriksen. He's younger more creative and also half the price.he also scores more goals. I just don't see why we put in a bid now while he is cheap because in a couple of years he could be worth 40+ and one of the best midfielders in Europe. SuperYid

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Half the price?

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Aug 2013 21:39:33
What would you guys say to a cut price deal for Lukas Podolski? Scored some good goals for the last year and put in a number of good performances. Don't know why they are looking to ship him out. Just imagine how much of a kick in the teeth it would be to the gooners if we nabbed him. Would be a good squad player in my opinion.
I laughed out loud when I first read an article saying we were after him,, but come to think of it. Could be quite funny

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Why would arsenal getting rid of a player they don't want be funny. If anything it would be a bit embarrassing boas signing him

Agree0 Disagree0

Mate, I'm an Arsenal fan and I'm not trying to start of war of words or anything but I don't think Podolski will go to Spurs. He's happy at Arsenal and Wenger said we want to keep him.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree with AH13, our fans need to get real. We seem to forget that we don't have the pulling power of CL teams and players like Rues, Poldolski and Willian will have better options. I know it's been a great window for us but why does that mean we can finally sign the worlds best players? I've heard names such as Rooney, Mata, Ozil, Benzema and the ones listed above. Who actually believes any of these players would consider joining us?

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Aug 2013 21:29:27
So chelski have gazumped us with mata, Oscar and now Willian! Only one thing left to do let's finish above the chavs and show them they made the WRONG decision!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Mata and Oscar were long term targets for chavski. We're not the only team with scouts.

any1 else think we should be more secret with our transfers so they can't get 'hijacked' i.e willian?
happy we aren't getting him

lamela reported to be announced on monday, and I would rather the £30m used for willian can be spent on eriksen and alderweireld for a joint £21m offer, and the remining £9m on a backup striker

hopefully coentrao in the bale deal too

How about Erikson as a cheaper alternative to Willlian? Plays a similar game, just cheaper.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

How about him as the first choice instead of Willian!? That would've been my call. Maybe we've enquired and have no-chance as otherwise I would've thought, cheaper, younger and more potential for impr

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Aug 2013 19:51:26
Can we not calm down about Willian, his agent was kia j'balls, he was a poison target from the start, there are other playmakers out there!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Definitely - didn't want him myself.

Is anyone really that gutted Willian won't be signing? To be totally honest when the news broke he was having a medical at Spurs my first thought was 30m was way to high for the player! I was like, yeah would take him but wasn't that excited by it and this would have been a record signing!

Now Lamela on the other hand for me is a must get! I would be gutted if we don't complete on this guy with all the rumours its almost a done deal. The lad is class and is only going to get better!

Lets be honest Bale is gone its just a matter of time but add Lamela, Erikson and a centre half to the squad and we will push for honours, no doubt about it!

I love my Spurs x

Believable0 Unbelievable0

23 Aug 2013 21:17:49
Who now if willian signs for Chelsea, we need a creative midfielder. Michu all the way for me would complete the team well worth 20m.

What about the Hulk now we have lost Willian

Believable0 Unbelievable0

23 Aug 2013 21:00:32
With or without Willian, our transfer dealings have been nothing short of incredible!
Paulinho, to me looks like a brazilian young Lampard. I can see him bagging 10+ goals in all competitions this year.

Chadli, pace, skill, eye for goal and can take a free kick. A poor man's Bale? Going to come up with some vital assists and goals.

Soldado, this man is just pure class. For years we have cried out for someone who puts the ball in the net without fuss. This is the answer. Adding to this, he can take a penalty. Something most spurs players struggle with. 20-25+ goals

Capoue, from what I have seen, brilliant signing! Can tackle, sits back well and his touch and technique seems very impressive. Looks a mixture between thudd and Sandro.

Yes Bale is going but his transfer fee is helping put together a really exciting team! I fully expect some more dealings. Top 4 is a must this year surely

Forget willian. he's a money grabbing git with no ambition. yidade

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I think joining Chelsea over spurs show ambition. I only see one London team consistently winning cups. Stop being bitter and grow up!

Agree0 Disagree0

Nah I don't believe joining chelsea does show ambition, chelsea have mercelassy bought season after season . chucking money to buy trophies. It's easy to do that look at psg and man city. I personally think willian deserves to be at a club like chelsea. classless

Agree0 Disagree0

Joining Chelsea doesn't show ambition. Going to an already overcrowded midfield doesn't show ambition. Going to Anzhi doesn't ambition. Going to the team that offers you the most money doesn't show ambition. In fact, I would say the aforementioned list shows a player who is motivated by many things but none of those involve ambition.
And I say that as somebody who wanted him because he is a talent and talent usually provides wins. I also say that as somebody who is utterly convinced that we're not going to get Lamela nor Eriksen. But let's not kid ourselves and say he went to Chelsea because he's an ambitious young lad.

Agree0 Disagree0

It shows choosing easy money earned not having to play week in week out. Chelsea win things due to spending £hundreds of millions and only because of that. I'm not bitter, I'm glad, you spend £30m+ on players constantly on a whim, he isn't proven enough for us to fork that out.
Simmo

Agree0 Disagree0

You say Chelsea only win trophies because the send big, remind me what you have done this season and under redknapp?

Agree0 Disagree0

I think we all missing the point here, in loosing willian we still on have one recognised player that can play lw in chadli and as mush as he is a great talent he is still young so expecting him to do it every week is unrealistic. townsend, lennon and maybe lamella all prefer the right side and Sigurðsson is not good enough out there as we saw last year.

Agree0 Disagree0

"You say Chelsea only win trophies because the send big, remind me what you have done this season and under redknapp?"

What does this have to do with anything? The typical argument, which holds water in my opinion, is that teams like Chelsea have only what they have won because of an infusion of profound amounts of money. That said, nobody is denying that you don't/shouldn't have to spend to win in football, but it doesn't help Chelsea's defense (nor those that staunchly deny they are a "money club") when players like Willian go there for the money. Why else would he go there? They have one of the most talented, crowded midfields on the Continent. Bottom line is that he went to Chelsea for the same reason he went to Anzhi. Personally, I'd choose playing time over sitting on the bench for 87 minutes a night and collecting unearned trophies, but ideally, one could have both, which I would argue he had a better chance of getting at Spurs than at Chelsea.

Doom and gloom here, We have done really good buisness in the transfer Market, capoue looks awesome as does paulinio, soldado and chadli are gunna thrill as is Townsend think gylfi will shine things looking good, forgot about U know who would have liked him to stay, moving forward and feeling optimistic I have faith and hope in Levy, baldini and avb, a suprise may be in store for us, the Hulk? .

Believable0 Unbelievable0

23 Aug 2013 17:03:26
After missing out on Willian - could this mean that we will show more interest in eriksen? I hope so!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

23 Aug 2013 16:32:47
Tottenham r to blame regarding loosing out on willian no one else. There transfers have been so public including the bale deal. Why they did not go to there do the medical and sign contracts. It's like they were hoping some one would come in late. Levy thinks he is the only clever one around.
He stated bale is not for sale a month ago now no comment. I can see a bad end to the transfer window now. Bale will go and won't be enough time to replace him.
Mr g ( pissed off)

Believable0 Unbelievable0

You'll probably find, it was willians agent that made everything public. looking for a better deal

Agree0 Disagree0

Blimey. We have had the best transfer window, probably ever, with still more to come, and we are now blaming Levy for not doing his bit? If we get 80m+ for Bale, we would be stupid not to take it, and with Sandro/Kaboul and Rose we have effectively 3 more signings. Bale will only go if HE wants to, so maybe we should wait for the final day. in the meantime 2 games, ZERO conceded, and 3 goals from a player less than a 3rd of bale's value. hmmmmmm

Agree0 Disagree0

I got called bobbybollucks last night and told I was a depressing and a grey individual been out today for makeover . I was not down beat about the transfers we have done, but had a feeling the bubble was going to burst like you seem to feel if we don't get lamelea? Or William and sell bale have 60.00 million in the bank and no bale rather keep bale and the sixty million less ericksen and Toby adverllield?

Agree0 Disagree0

Reasons to be disappointed: Bale leaving and Willian has chose Chelsea over us.

Reasons to be jubilant: Soldado, Pauliniho, Chadli, Capoue, Kaboul back, Sandro back, Townsend looks up for the season and we haven't finished with our signings.

Lets look at the positives Mr g, yes we lost out on Willian but you can't win them all.

Agree0 Disagree0

Well u can't help another someone picking another club can you he has to sign and he was waiting for a nother club to come in and they did

Agree0 Disagree0

Chelsea fan here. To be honest I am not that impressed with Willian. When we have been connected with him at times over the past couple of years, it has been largely greeted with negative comments by posters on Chelsea page. If he ends up with us, as a spurs supporter I would not be too upset, as in my opinion you will do much better business with your 30m. There must be a reason he only has two brazil caps, at a time when the brazil team has not been that great.

Agree0 Disagree0

Kia jorbochan (or whatever his name is) basically whored him around after our medical, money or games? Good luck to him if he wants a season on the bench he made the right choice, if he wanted games then he got it wrong. Proper pissed off not because we. Didn't get him, but because he mugged us off! I'm sure he will get a rousing reception at the lane! Cheeky bid for mat anyone?

Agree0 Disagree0

Yea was the agent mate wasnt our fault everytin was made public we all know who his agent is aswell he's probly the worst agent around aswell nothing but a money grabber I think we dodged a bullet with willian anyway things happen for a reason and if we had of signed him probly would of did well but when the chips were down he prob kick up a fuse or his agent would of either, another adebayor he his, there's plenty of time to replace bale as i'm sure baldini has a deal in place for lamela, from the start I would of picked lamela over willian anyday anyway he's pure class, also I see on the net that romanian defender is free to join his now after geting the go ahead from the fella that owns the club in jail, he's class too so its not all doom and gloom were better of without willian I think way too over priced aswell

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Aug 2013 21:38:00
Kia joorabchian is his agent bent as a nine bob note, can't believe Levy was dealing with him any way - Willian is a good player but money grabber.

Agree0 Disagree0

Cheers to the Chelsea fan who seems dead right about Willian. Not sure he was worth £30m for us, Lamela and/or Eriksen much better. Chelsea have the spare money and plenty of players who can over-shadow him. He may be half decent but not better than Mata, Hazard or Oscar I doubt.

How could Levy pull the plug on Bale's big move in light of this guy jumping ship to chelski? Spurs have only been spending like a fat kid in a sweetie shop in light of Bale. I've never heard so much p¡sh. If this guy kbs you you'll need to sign someone else. If Roma players are signing for rubbish like Southampton like Pablo Osvaldo you probably have a decent chance with Eric Lammela. He's one of their best though- £30m+.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

We've made money for 4-5 transfer windows, have sold players in this window for over £20m and have increased TV money like everybody else so, Bale money has NOT been spent!
Simmo

Agree0 Disagree0

Rubbish no way have spurs had nearly 70 mil to spend of already saved money. No champions league money no trophies. Sorry but absolutely now way. Bales departure is the sole reason there's been big spending

Gotta laugh at the media over this Bale saga!

Tomorrows headline

'Bale transfer edges closer'

Like the same headline for the last 3 weeks. Give it a rest.

If love Lev to drop the sale and report RM to the FA. Especially after they started selling shirts with no 11 & Bale on.

At some point this has to stop, and not just for our club, The Mancs and even the Gooners. RM think they are untouchable an beyond FA rules.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

There's probably a pretty good reason why Madrid are "beyond (English :-)) FA rules". hmmm. now let me think :-)

If "Levy halts Bale move" is he off to wonga.con to renegotiate the interest rate on the loan for all these players you've acquired on tick?!?

Waken up mate, he's noo a Madrid player regardless of the sabre-rattling bs.

Agree0 Disagree0

UEFA, I stand corrected. Do thy not have rules :-)

And your clearly not aware that we 'don't' need to sell bale to purchase players. It helps that the figure touted is beyond his worth and that he actually wants the move, so why not get the best deal possible?

Agree0 Disagree0

Baba your dreaming lad. He's as good as gone

Agree0 Disagree0

What are we if we do not have dreams and aspirations.

Tottenham till I die.

We are Tottenham super Tottenham, we are Tottenham from the lane.

Erikson I hope

lEVY must drop the bale sale NOW!!

Reports are coming in fast and furious.

Chelski are hijacking out bid for willian.

Utd and arsenal are trying to raid Madrid, who are willing to do business to raise funds for bale.

Our transfer has been awesome so far. However bale deal could strengthen our rivals and weaken us.

Keep bale with no additions will do us well and hamper any moves from utd or arse nil for Madrid players
Mr g

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Good point and sound reasoning, problem is I think the deal will already have been agreed.

Willian chose Chelsea according to tv, Press conference due to come out.

Money grabber. let's hope he doesn't get the playing time he hopes for at Chelsea.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

23 Aug 2013 14:12:18
with Willian going to west London, does anybody else think this may be a blessing in disguise? From what I have seen and read he, seems to be another Ade, gives you a good first season, then seems to be only up for the big games and can go missing when you really need him, when struggling against the smaller teams, aswell as trying to get a bigger and better pay day every season. hopefully we can sign the kid from Roma and use the money we were going to pay for Willian on Eriksen and at least 2 more players

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I blessing in disguise but a little gutted, not because we haven't got him but more the pulling power of the chavs! That's twice he has rejected us. Lamela is now a must, possibly erikson, the young Bulgarian attacking midfielder, chiriches and another striker would be an awesome window! COYS

23 Aug 2013 14:02:40
so jose says the mercenary has decided on chavski's just like Oscar hazard and mata did. Well we will continue to improve without those types. We should now go full steam for eriksen and also make a bid for mata. ozil may look to leave Madrid sources suggest so we should deffinately make him part of the Bale deal or buy him for 30m. (ed is ozil rumour true and would he be a possibility do you think).

ANT

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I do hope your not being serious about mata. A) Chelsea won't want to lose him anyway b) if he was going to leave bigger teams than spurs would be after him IMO

Agree0 Disagree0

Are any players prepared to back themselves and join someone for a more 'real' football reason these days? The truth is, true great players lift teams from average to good or, from food to great. Spurs are now a decent team, consistent for 4years; 4th, 5th, 4th, 5th, world-class training facilities, great stadium for atmosphere and, have a record for getting players their big move (Carrick, Berbs, Modric and now Bale). If Bale stayed there really is a reasonable chance Spurs could challenge. He's got his call to go to the biggest club on earth so he won't but, if you were a Rooney, Mata or Ozil, wouldn't you like to be 'the' main player seen as the reason why a club took that next step and pipped your old team to a title? To show the rest of the world you are the real deal, a champion and a maker of champions?
Sounds soppy but those kinds of players are already worth millions, would still make £150k pw at least in wages and, if they're that good, still go on/back to a bigger club in 1-2years after standing out.
They'd get ultimate respect in my
opinion, even if it didn't quite end in the big silverware but got very close.
Soppy but would be great to see.

With the Willian deal going sour I think it's time to really try and bid high for Lamela, better player with a bigger potential than Willian. If we could get him and Eriksen I think we would be better than if we spent the 60M touted on W and L. Cheaper too!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

23 Aug 2013 13:38:40
So Willian has opted for the bench in world cup year. Kind of glad we didn't get him. You have to question someone who opted fot Anzi over topeEuropean sides anyway. He has opted for wallet over football again.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Well I think he made a pretty good choice he wanted to come to Chelsea before spurs. He only had to endure 6 months in Russia and gets his move, when shaktar were being difficult. So he must have made the right decisions to get to where he wanted to be. Side note between Chelsea and Tottenham the brazilians have taken over London. Not a spurs fan but I think their nailed on for fourth this year

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Aug 2013 10:38:34
As much as Willian would improve our team, if he has the front to have a 2 day medical after we were prepared to make him our record signing at a reported £30m and then round and say I'm considering my options, I would rather he done one and fu**ed off, I don't care how good players are if they don't want to play for my beloved club then I would rather the be elsewhere, especially if it is at chavski on the bench and my opinion also extends to Bale, yes a fantastic player and a good servant but if he doesn't want to be at the Lane the he can do one as well, yes I like him and am thankful for his contribution over the years (and it is not sour grapes) but if he doesn't want to play for the lilywhites shirt then he should go.

IMO Willian' £30m would be better spent on Eriksen and the defender from leige (Chirches excuse spelling) and I think if we can add another striker we are in good shape for this season.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

23 Aug 2013 08:38:12
Think levy should pull out of the William deal, hopefully chelski don't really want him an he can rot at anzi! Bang out of order having medical an then talking to other clubs! Still if he goes to chelski he's going to enjoy a nice season on the bench so good luck with your place in the World Cup team!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Great post rxactley what I was thinking. And if they do sign him why not a cheeky 30 mill bud for mata. he's twice the player willian is wirld cup year so would want to play every game. he's just what we need as that creative spark. Ciz if willan does sign for chels there will b him mata, oscar, hazard, schulle, de bruyne all fighting for it where as he would walk in are team. Plus he has a very good relationship with soldado which could help b a clincher in the deal. Personally if this happened I don't c why we couldn't mount a challenge for the title plus mata is proven pl player and in my opion the best number 10 in the leauge and definitely better than anyone else hu has been linked.

Agree0 Disagree0

Chill, if its not meant to be. We move on. Happens all the time.

See how out expectations have now gone through th roof, after some great transfer activity.

If not Will-I-an then it may be Erikson, who I think will be a lot cheaper and a better prospect any way.

In spurs we trust.

Agree0 Disagree0

Its true he could be great at spurs, forget him get players that want to come to us

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm sorry to burst whatever deluded bubble you live in but Mata will not be joining spurs. If and it's a massive IF he were to leave Chelsea it would be a champs lge team and most likely not in the prem. Forget that one right now

Agree0 Disagree0

Actually I fully agree with Northeast Yido, if he doesn't sign so be it, he would have been a great asset to us but we will move on to someone else, and Erikson could end up being a better buy and cheaper.

Marc643

Agree0 Disagree0

Didn't want Willian at any more then £16-18m. Prefer Lamela, and, although unlikely, £30m on Mata would be brilliant.
Simmo

Agree0 Disagree0

Chelski panic buy if you ask me. Clearly failed with Rooney bid, and Mouthiniho put all his eggs in that basket

Lets hope Will-i-antics turns out to be as mercenary as his actions have implied over the last 2 days, for Chelski. And causes an implosion from within.

If u lot think u get mata for 30 mil can I please have some of what your smoking cause it must be the good stuff.
