AVB says we won't sign another striker. If not it is a total joke. We will not score enough goals all season and when Ade is out injured or African Nations we will struggle. Even last year we had Pav then Saha. Even if never going to play 2 up top, having only 2 strikers is no way enough cover. Ridiculous! {Ed041's Note - wait till the end of the transfer window then say them things

With AVB stating in his interview (SSN & Talksport) that he is happy with ADE, JD and Kane, I would be very worried. Ade loses interest through the season but is excellent when he commits 100%, JD is not that LONE striker but an excellent option and Kane is not a proven player at this level yet and IMO won't ever be..(sorry).

We desperately need another Quality proven striker and maybe one that not only plays well as a lone striker but also one that can play with a partner.

To me I believe that Klaas-Jan Huntelaar would be the better option out of all the players that we are linked too..and the cheaper one at that mr DL....

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Avb is not gonna say we need another striker even if he wants 1 he wont want to alert other teams to who we are looking at or make defoe and kane feel they are not good enough lets see what happens over the next week coys

I'm giving up on this transfer window now, I can't take it anymore. I thought we might have a calm transfer window with things dove early after siggs and vert but it seems to be going down to the wire again. This is probably the most stressful with a lot on the line bad very high profile targets being talked about which we probably wilt get. I normally enjoy the transfer window but I'm just leaving it until deadline day now.

Stressed spurs fan!

i have looked and checked and checked again and sorry to say i cant find 1 thing that says Damiao has signed for us now if it has been on the hush hush how come all are aware of it apart from SPN, every news paper in the UK, we seem to be getting this info from shirts sponsers and even the cleaner lady.....i am still waiting to hear that the guy who sells burgers on match day was down the lane today when he saw Damiao at his stall asking for a cheese burger chips with beans..lol, i do hope this guy does sign but i dont think it will happen..COYS

Believable0 Unbelievable0

If he does sign I think they will pay him enough so he doesn't have to eat those burgers.

Been reading all this stuff here for years, and now posting first time.

Ed's: Do you have any information, as to wether AVB's words of not signing Another striker are just to keep other suitors away? Or is this the end of the Damiao saga? I'd be glad to hear your opinion. Nice job with the site! {Ed041's Note - to be honest not to sure it would make sence him lieing so the wolfs will stay away from our targets but maybe not either only time will tell who knows we could be in for one hell of a end to the transfer window.

We have signed DAMAIO on a 4 year deal.
This is gospel this time.
My mates, mums next door neighbour works for a law firm in the city.
Daniel levy bought them a big tray of Krispy Kreme doughnuts today.
Oh, his smile was so big. He told them everything.
Sorry, couldn't resist.

I am an everton fan and cant understand why you would be selling Dawson.
What do the fans think about this because iI think he is a great player

Believable4 Unbelievable1

I can, sort of see why. I think AVB wants more "mobile" central defenders, players with a bit of pace as well as power and Dawson is the achetypal old fashioned big strong centre half. Thats fine if you play against players like Andy Carroll every week but not so great against the RVP types of players. Quick and mobile defenders are better at countering quick and mobile strikers. Caulker has come on well, Vertongen is the "new generation" centre half and kaboul ditto. Its also fair to say that they are all capable of playing wide at the back and midfield if push came to shove, again, i dont think Dawson could do that. Gallas makes up for any lack of pace with experience and Sandro can drop into the back if needed. All in all, we probably have enough cover now to justify selling him on, taking the money and using it elsewhere on the pitch. Just my opinion.

PS: Good luck for the season, I have a soft spot for you boys, good club, good support and, despite f**k all money to spend, season after season the club gives it 110%. Fair play to you boys!

Agree0 Disagree1

Agree with those points on defenders, the big strong defenders are dying out as quickkly as the big number 9's. Even at amatueur level i played a friendly last night against a team from a few divisions above, they have some semi pro young 18,19 year olds playing and they basically didnt play a striker. Our defence could not pick them up and they ran riot lol. Can the Everton fan answer how Pienar looks a different player when he puts on your shirt. I also have a soft spot for the toffees, amazing performance on Monday. Can we have Fellaini please!

What makes me laugh was loads of people said Damiao deal would be done today looks unlikely since have reported AVB has said the deal looks unlikely, I hope its wrong but cant see this one happening same with William deal as well.
Maybe were play with 6 in midfield at this rate looks like it could be a long season !

Believable0 Unbelievable1

I think we will be fine because i believe in AVB as a manager but we appear weaker than we were last season. No modric and in best case scenario moutiniho replaces him. Modric is better than mou sadly so we are weaker there the one signing i see happening is wiilian but how much difference will that make adapting to a new league. Vertonghen is a great signing and i feel will be a top top player. Up top Spurs should have a problem as Adebayor is poor in front of goal so instead of going forward without trying to speak to soon it seems we have gone backwards.
Hope im wrong

Agree0 Disagree0

1. AVB is just putting everybody off the scent and playing dumb, how could he not know Sherwood was in Malaga watching Isco, everybody knew ffs.

2. How can we not get another striker , Ade and Defoe not enough for for four competitions , and dont even talk to me about Kane.

3. there is still a week left of the window.

P.S i know its human nature to be pessemistic as a spurs fan but snap out of ffs, at least until the window shuts

I am not saying its going to happen but levy and hr both said that Harry was not going day before he actually left his mgmt position. It could all be smoke and mirrors. At this point anything could happen. I highly doubt we will go into the new season with Defoe, Kane and Ade the only options.

Believable4 Unbelievable0

You mean like we went the 2nd half of last season with Ade, Defoe and injury prone Saha? At least Kane has some youthful legs on him.

I too wish we had more depth, but AVB has stated Defoe plus one more forward will be signed (Ade) with Kane to attempt to prove himself, this is AVB's strategy and he has said it on multiple occasions. So who you going to believe AVB or the Orafice?

The press that are so intent on getting on AVB's back need to remember that he is only doing what Harry was trying to do the whole time he was in charge. By selling players who aren't really going to push for the first team they are freeing up funds and space for genuine quality to be added; failure to do this has been the main reason for a lack of signings over the past few seasons. It's impossible to bring players in and pay good wages if you have players that aren't going to play clogging up the wage bill.

Moreover, AVB wants a more streamlined squad in which players are far more versatile, and can cover different positions, which also lends itself to the fluid style he wants to implement. For example, if you take the VDV and Willian rumours, it is clear to see we could be switching a player who only plays CAM for one who can play right across the attacking midfield line. You can also look at our CM targets; players like Pjanic, Moutinho and Dembele are mobile and can switch between positions in the midfield. Moutinho in particular can essentially fill any of the 3 central berths. Don't listen to the media witch hunt, they are trying to make AVB look clueless, when in actual fact he has a clear plan, and it isn't far off what Harry would liked to have done anyway.

Spurs wont get Damiao. They are like Arsenal and need to look at either a)slightly failed players (VDV, Podolski) or b) second string players looking to step up (Giroud/Sigurdsson).

The chances of you getting Damiao are null, unless he has no other offers.
Willian is possible, as he must be desperate to get out of Russia and not worth near the £20m quoted.

Believable2 Unbelievable5

Jealous gooner, embarrassed about his own signings and trying to compare to ours.

You donĀ“t travel much do you?;)
Willian will sign, just wait and see!

Fair enough, Russia/Ukraine - same outcome regardless.

Soon in your shadow? You lot haven't seen the sun in 15 years.
Jealous? Hardly - your weaker this year than last, whilst i believe that we have strengthened.
Embarassed over signings? Couldn't be further from the truth. i am still amazed we signed 3 seasoned internationals before the first game of the season.

Looks me me that your having to start selling to help balance non CL books. Good luck with that, and lets hope for your sake AVB learnt something from his stint at Chelsea last year......

Agree2 Disagree2

Seasoned Internationals hold on - Giroud never played in the Euro's - benchwarmer, Podolski was crap to be honest! Slow yourself down

Agree0 Disagree1

Podolski over 100 caps
Cazorla - 46 caps
Giroud - 10 caps

At a push i'd give you Giroud, but i'd say that the other 2 are certainly seasoned internationals.
I dare say you'd swap either forward for Harry Kane?

Yeah your forwards scored loads in the opening game against sunderland!! give it a rest about the international fella

Agree0 Disagree0

No mate, we have to start selling because Harry made our squad too big and talking of selling. Arsenal and selling go hand in hand don't they.
You bring them on and sell them to your feeder clubs in Manchester.
By the way, podolski, giroud, chamakh, getvinho

Agree0 Disagree0

Wouldnt swop either for Kane ! Lots of caps doesnt mean they arent crap ! Anyway you are probably just building them up so you can let your parent club have them later . Talking off selling to balance the books , have you looked whose left you the past couple of seasons ? And funnily enough , most of them have gone on to win something havent they ? 44 medals I think !!
Davo

Agree1 Disagree0

Arsenals history 50 trophies Spuds history 29 trophies.

Nice try blow offs

Agree0 Disagree0

Wouldnt swap any of our forwards for harold Kane? I'll hold you to that when Adebayor gets bored and Defoe pulls his hamstring.
No denying we are a selling club - we are not run as a plaything or bottomless pit and i for one appreciate that. Everything has a value, but trophies are cheapened in bought not earnt.
Sure players leaving Arsenal have won trophies, however i'd suggest that few are either as integral as they were at arsenal eg - Hleb may have played 15 games for Barca, bt does he really feel attached to his medals from his 2 years there.....i doubt he can bring them up in conversation without feeling like a fraud.

I'm loving this fact from the sun today....."Players who have quit Arsenal over the last seven years have amassed 44 winners' medals between them at 11 different clubs, while those who stayed at the Emirates have empty trophy cabinets." haha

Agree0 Disagree1

Arsenal don't have good players now. The teams in Manchester do cos you keep feeding them.

Agree0 Disagree0

It must pain Arsenal fans to see RVP in a United shirt Ha

Agree1 Disagree0

This banter makes me laugh! Both clubs have lost out to the big boys who could afford to buy themselves trophys and whoever they wanted. Thats never been healthy and, to an extent, despite the rivalry and hatred we both have the common goal of toppling the "money no object clubs" and sticking one up them. Remember, we may well hate each other but imagine a season like Celtic is going to have, no Rangers, it will be like losing a b*ll*ck. Hate each other, oh yeah, exist without each other? Nah, the banter alone is worth it.

Why are we selling Daws? Sad to see him go. Top player.

Believable2 Unbelievable2

A great servant to the club, but if as rumored been offered 9m for a player that has managed only 137 games in 7 seasons ...it ain't all bad, plus his weakness of not being able to play with the ball at his feet does not fit AVB's approach. Will still be sad to seem him leave, but if the stars are aligned then it is the right time.
