That is cl football next year

Believable1 Unbelievable3

Would love Michu, what a buy that would be

Agree0 Disagree2

Wait till next season I think to see if he fires again.
I remember macheda at man utd was the next big thing. What happened there.
Then cisse at Newcastle last season, again, miss firing.
There is always a flash in the pan striker that fires one season and everyone wants to buy him. If he starts next season the same then I think we have missed out when he was offered to Harry, but don't go throwing millions at him yet I say.

Agree6 Disagree0

I know what your saying and agree, but wouldn't call Michu a flash in the pan, he had been doing well in Spain before Swansea move, but agree next season defenders will be more wise about him, so if he can play as well next season then I can see a a few teams bidding for him

Agree0 Disagree0

I was using the term flash in the pan in general about 'the next big thing' imported into this country.
I don't think he will be like that but you never know and my point was that I think a club will wait until next season instead of throwing cash at Swansea now.

Football as well as a sport.winning trophies etc is a business we all know that. But it's a status a brand world wide.. Footballers also are now walking brands house hold names.. That 20mil super star striker just doesn't add goals or help win things they advertise the club world wide gain you export viewers and supporters that allows you to earn more on advertising merchandise etc even help you get more from adverts and sponsors .. It's also an investment.. Players will want to join to team up with them and the player power will help you to get them cheaper as well as offering cl Footi. So that 20 odd million does not seem that much money, you earn of the player also... Look at becks..we Defo can afford it so levy needs to invest in the team now because we are so so close... Utd didn't even fancy it today we are starting to be a threat but that can go just as quick

Hi all what would you all think of making a bid for danny welbeck, think he would be awesome at the lane {Ed008's Note - I'd expect he'd be available in the summer not a bad shout.

Believable3 Unbelievable2

He definitely did look good today, but not sure how good a goal scorer he is, we need an out and out scorer.

Though he could be a decent shout.

15 shots against Man Utd, imagine how good web would be with a couple of decent forwards!! Don't even need to break the bank, Negredo £12 mill, lisandro Lopez £15-18mill, Huntelaar £12 mill (his buyout fee). Great players and not over ourbudget . Or we could just bite the bullet an bid £25 for Damiao! ( although I couldn't bear the Oracles smugness if we did get him). Good result today I do feel it was 2 points lost tho! Team is looking great just need the forward we have been missing since berby left. Wycombe spur {Ed008's Note - Negredo is a target.

I agree with what most of our fellow supporters are saying (about what we need aka striker and a mid who can see a great pass when teams drop right back), and we do need both of these but in all honesty we have just battered the supposedly best team in the prem. However I do believe that old whisky drinking red nose missed a trick by not starting, or bringing on, Howard Webb. He saw Rooneys cast iron pen but missed Evras clumsy challenge on Dempsey, who in my eyes should have gone down. How he can say that his lot didn't get any decisions all game is beyond me, at one point I thought it was Webb with a wig.

Fergies comments in his interview were shocking.
Any other manager would be hauled up and charged.
Bringing up previous games that the linesman had against his team is terrible. He made it sound as though the Lino had a vendeter against his team.
He should get his mate Howard Webb to have a word with him.
I hope he gets charged.
I see him having a word with the 4th official when 3 mins went up. Moaning.
Then he wanted more time after we scored!

Number 1 Priority is for Tottenham to sign a striker and I hope they get one in fast to secure champions league football. That is of utmost important. We lacked goals last few games, we don't necessarily need midfielders. I would be happy to see a classy striker and holtby signing completed this transfer window

Believable6 Unbelievable0

I agree 100%. Before Dempsey scored I was ready to post that the only difference today was a £25million striker. One chance, bang.
If we had van persie, or the like, we would of won at a canter today.
Saying that, man utd were very negative. Was very surprised.
If we had gone in front, they would of been different. We are at our best when a team attack us, managers I realising this, and it's working.
We can all see what we need, if levy can't see this then god knows where we will end up because enic haven't got the teams best interest at heart. I hope levy proves me wrong.
If any potential new signings saw that game today, then they would of seen that joining spurs is a very good option.
A great advert for our club today.

COYMFS.

Agree5 Disagree0

Even with the equaliser the difference was a £25m striker. He got one chance in the entire game and took it, and it was not a routine finish either (sad to say was good movement and a good finish).

We had a lot of chances, and although De Gea played well from the positions we were shooting we should not be giving him the chance to make saves.

I like Defoe, but he can't do it all by himself. We all know we need a top quality forward, and we all know that those are not easy to come by. Just got to hope we can pull a deal out the bag.

Wulf.

Agree1 Disagree1

Yes we create a lot of chances so a striker to convert would give us champs league spot. but with the players we had we just dominated the leaders of the epl my suspicion is we have a quality manager who just needs a couple of tools and we could be contenders

Couldn't make it down to the lane today but I'm sure everyone on my street knows I'm a yido after Dempsey's goal went in. Went mental!! Well deserved point and great to see such passion from AVB on the sideline

McYid

Believable6 Unbelievable0

The difference between Top 3 and scrambling for CL next season ... A goal scorer.

Agree5 Disagree0

The real difference between the top 3 and us is that utd chelski etc will try and win whatever it takes, as g Neville pointed out after, Dempsey should have gone over and got the defender sent off, basically cheat like Ramirez did in the chelski match to get a penalty, unfortunately until we get retrospective punishment(trial by tv) it will get worse and honest players and teams will lose out. Re my earlier post, the goal we gave away was down to poor defence. We had five defenders bunched around one United player and Van Persie was allowed to drift to the far post. There were 2 United attackers at the far post and no Spurs defender! The better teams do not give away soft goals. However we roared back and more then deserved our point.

We took the game by the throat when Bennoit came on. Walker needs to watch dvds of how proper full backs know where the other team is. Great going forward and plays for the Badge but needs to calm down. Naughton is a Fish Out of Water at Left Back, give him a go in his real position (RB) and give Walks a rest. AVB is turning Aaron into a World Class player

Agree2 Disagree0

Agreed that Lennon destroyed Evra today, shame he didn't get a bit more of the ball in the second half. Fergie recognised the danger as well which is why Carrick was coming across to block Lennon.

I feel that our midfield was exceptional and Parker played well considering it's his first game back since his injury (sometimes you worry it takes a game or two to get to full sharpness).

Just need someone to help convert these chances.

What a massive result at home today, and one where we deserved all 3 points. 61% possession and 15 shots on goal to their 4.

This result will also have massive implications on the transfer dealings. In an almost upside down logic, Levy has agreed to protect our position if we could draw away from the pack. With Everton and West Brom fading and the Gooners looking like the gap is getting too large, I am confident the funding plans for Moutinho as well as Damiao can be implemented.

More importantly Moutinho"a greatest barrier was the risk of no Champions League football. I believe that we are now firmly in pole position, and these two signing will be repaid with Chanpions League returns alone.

The Oracle

Believable6 Unbelievable1

Agree with your post in the most part ..but I thought Damiao was already signed 100% ....or am I missing something.

Oracle you have said that the damiao deal is already done so how does today's game have any influence on him signing.

Also you have said moutinho is 80%.

It has been said here many times, We badly need a top striker. We have a fine side and a top class striker would make us a great side. We were brilliant today and deserved all 3 points but at the start of the season we would have taken 4 from 6 points from United.

Great point for the people today!! However, I am still concerned about our squad. When you look at our bench there isn't enough quality, there are no game changers, no players you would choose to have in the starting line up! Compared with uniteda bench today, they have players who I'd have in my team all day! Players like, Hernandez, Rooney, Valencia etc. and we are bringing the likes huddlestone on. We need another option up top, and in my mind, Holtby in this window is a must!

Great performance today though! COYS!

Please please please Mr Levy buy a decent striker and get rid of Dempsey. He is truly woeful.

Sim the Spur {Ed008's Note - You were saying?

Believable0 Unbelievable5

Disagree. Dempsey has been improving with every game. He knows where the goal is and with a bit of luck he would have scored two and we would have won. What about Defoe? His goals have dried up and if he is not scoring he is dead wood as he does not appear to see a team member in a better position then himself. Give Dempsey a break.

As much as I admire AVB, if we lose today due to his stubborness with playing Dawson I will be f***ig furious ! Why is Vert, one of the best in the PL, stuck on the subs bench and Dawson is playing ? It really is un believable, what the hell is happening at our club ? We are playing Man utd for f**ks sake, not Leeds in the fa cup ! If he wants to rotate, that's the game to do it in !

D Dave we will never be a Leeds....
C league = loads of money better sponsors
Again more money basically cl football is money now surely any money man at a club wants cl for that reason..
How do you get it?? Quality players, High wages, to balances the income and out goings... Ahhhh if like levy you want to trade... Buy a player for 10 sell or 30 or build a bigger stadium and earn money that way and jut float around in the prem and a cup final every 10 years then...... That ant rocket science.... We just have to live in memory....
Mr g

Believable0 Unbelievable1

Leeds had champ league. paid over the top for players and paid them too much. your right we are not leeds because levy is in charge and not you. yes I agree we could do with a couple of new faces but lets not play fantasy football lets build on what we have. we have secured to good signings for the near future (holtby was a shrewd piece of business) now we just need a couple of pieces to complete the jigsaw. panic buying will only hurt us long term. be calm the players will come.

derbyshire dave

Agree2 Disagree0

With the things DL has done for our club has propelled us into a top 5 team... Or have you forgot that we used to be a mid-table team?
The fact he has done that without spending huge amounts shows you should have more faith in him!!
Look what happens when we spend big... Bent=flop, Bentley=flop and so on.
Becoming a league leader will take time but at least when we get there we'll have the resources to stay there (I.e great manager, solid team and money in the bank).
Have more faith Mr g we are a team heading in the right direction. Also even us hardcore levy fans get frustrated when we see Modric leave the the likes of Dempsey come in, BUT we are still 4th and looking capable of getting top 4 again.
Also Levy made a bold move getting shot of HR and getting in AVB and as much of a risk that was it seems like another shrewd DL move.
I think these are the points you are ignoring and why people are so quick to jump on your back about what you are posting...
Bottom line DL is and has done a fantastic job with our team... Maybe you'd prefer Sir Alan back?

Agree0 Disagree0

Dave, We could never be a leeds like Mr G says because of the money involved in the PL but yes it does pay to be careful, but also Mr G is right, we have taken a fortune in cash for selling decent players over the last 4 years, and replaced them with average players ! People say that Levy cares about this club, is that why he spent millions trying to move us, against the wishes of the supporters, to the olympic park ? He couldn't give 2 s**ts about what the supporters want, he is there for him and lewis only ! As long as the money flows into their pockets, that's all they worry about ! Yes, football is a business, but no business survives without investment, not a few scraps here and there ! To get the best players, and the money that comes with them, we need to be playing CL and to do that you need to invest ! To get teams to sell their players to you, you also need to have respect for the people you deal with, and Levy has none of that .
As supporters we spend hundreds, thousands a year following our team to see lack of investment cost us year after year, but we still all blindly trudge down to the game, week after week to then be told the same sh*t each transfer window ! You don't need to spend 20 / 30 million each time, there are plenty of players out there who would boost our squad, but where the f**k do our scouts spend their time ?
Davo

Agree0 Disagree0

Davo, the investment has made us a top 5 team year in year out that has only happened through a staedy business structure not running around buying overpriced players. I agree we need investment but we also need stability and we seem to have that now. I think avb was brought in because we have a vision for the future, a project. this may take a couple of years but I honestly think the way we are going the future is good. as said earlier we were a mediocre mid table team until recently so enjoy what's happening we have improved and are looking to improve even more and the investment in the team will come. PLEASE have patience the signings will come otherwise mr lewis will want answers as to what went wrong. so levy will buy, but only the right player and not just an expensive mercenary

derbyshire dave

ps we all want the same thing success and champ league footy

Agree1 Disagree0

Agree with you derby dave, but lewis doesn't worry about results, only investments !
Davo

And replaced them with average players, and is going to sell

Are we going to boast that we have a great bank balance... We are not asking him to spend £100 mil we just want players money we sold to be spent on quality to give us that push with quality players....

20 Jan 2013 11:19:45
People goes on about dl being a very good a shrewd
Business name.. I'd like to point out a few
Mistakes down purely to his ignorance..
We could have got holtby for 2-3 million but
He opted to get him for free at the end of the
Season now due to sandros injury, holtby club
Are now playing hard ball... Also we have players
At the club on huge salaries which instead of letting
Them go for free now he is still waiting for a
Crazy fee for them, and it's been like this for 2-3
Years so how much money on salaries have
We wasted on big earners like
Gomes, Bentley, jenas, must be more I've
Missed... Just get them off the books and free
The salaries for others that we can get in.. These
Players do not have a future at the lane..
Even sending them on loan is a loss
Is dl still holding out for the money he paid for them
Mr g

Believable1 Unbelievable4

You clearly are clueless. You can't just "release them and get them off the books". If a player has a contract, he must agree to a termination in order to be released. Now if your David Bentley and you have 2 years left of a £70k a week contract would you agree to being released by the club (and knowing Levy, he would probably offer him the cost of a Taxi home) or would you sit on your backside and rake in a lot of money for nothing? Anyone remember Winston Bogarde at Chelsea??

Agree2 Disagree0

I think you will find if we "let them go" on a free DL would have to pay up their contract, therefore NOT saving anything at all, so the option, is FAR from the Business mistake you are implying....

Agree1 Disagree0

This isn't championship manager, giving players away is bad business. Holtby levy is a business man and not a clairavoyant he could not see sandro's injury coming and even with the injury its not a time to panic (as you would seemingly) we have our targets and we are still trying to get them. if I were you rather than make an a ss out of myself I would be patient and wait to see what transpires. To listen to peolpe on here levy is a spurs hater, he is a business man I accept but he is also spurs through and through especially as they pay his wages. Like all people in levy's position they are judged on results so the better spurs do the better he does (financially) if he has the monies at his disposal it wouldn't make any sense for him to sit on it, he would assumably speculate and hopefully then accumalate. com feb 2nd you can judge until then lets stop sniping and get behind the team to beat man utd

derbyshire dave

Agree0 Disagree0

We have had bids for them players in the past but dl wanted more so for that reason they are still with us collecting there money week in week out... Dl wants to pay peanuts when he is buying and ask for kings ransoms for the players who wouldn't even make it
In the championship.... When we dnt sign any one this jan and dnt finish in the top 4= no cl dnt come on here moaning mr levy lovers
