nice one lads, beat pool 1-0 in the nextgen, Shaq Coulthirst with the goal and apparently our keeper was fantastic. barca or ajax in the semi final!

Believable2 Unbelievable1

Keeper was brilliant, but tbh we were lucky; liverpool had a lot more chances, and would have won if they could finish...

Agree3 Disagree0

Yeah but we also had a lot of important players missing like kane, carroll, oneyuga etc cos they're out on loan. IMO Sherwood is doing an amazing job and should defo be in contention. Liverpool looked good because their players were bigger/faster than ours, and older (veljkovic is only 16, coulibaly 17, etc) The more technical way we play will benefit them in the future when they bulk up. Luongo looks like he's going to be good, Sherwood always praises him after matches him, and pritchard is already better at free kicks than VdV! The future's bright the future's lillywhite!

Agree0 Disagree0

Playing an illigitimate player also helped you win the game, that's why you have dropped out of the comp, shame for your good youngsters. Sherwood not doing such an amazing job is he?

Bib Bill (LFC)

Agree1 Disagree0

Bib bill - well it was hardly his fault, sounds a lot like it was a bad mixup at admin level. and anyway, none of the players were too old, if anything the rumour going round is that one was too young, which hardly gives us an unfair advantage! based on the match we deserved to go through, but we messed up and luckily spurs have shown some CLASS (something that has seemed to be missing at anfailed recently) and come out and admitted it

Look; EVERTON have been rubbish; Saha couldn't score in that team! Even Tim Cahill couldn't score in that team this yr!
But in our team who average 763 chances each match with nobody to bury any, I think Saha could find the net once more!!
I reckon Clive Allen would score most the chance we miss! hold on, could be onto something..

Everyone was exactly he same after the last window, its pathetic. you all moaned when parker was signed now he's first name on the sheet. so we signed louis saha as a back up striker, he's better than pav and has a great strike record. i for one think that he will do very well. some of you were living in dreamland mentioning the likes of kaka, tevez and benzema, levy wont pay those kind of wages, you just set yourself up for a fall listening to people like the oracle, its football guys not fantasy football.

rufus

Believable1 Unbelievable0

Yes we moaned about parker but at least the previous season he was quality for west ham; the same can't be said for Saha and Nelson. anyway, im guessing we'll spend big in the summer once redknapps future is resolved

I know that this transfer window hasn't been particularly good and i'm pretty pi**ed off aboutit myself but ......

We are in the position we are in without having to use many of the players sitting in the wings.

All the other clubs around us hardly set the transfer window alight either.

ARSENAL ARE STILL C**P, even with there 19yr old signing, and Wenger is slowly losing his marbles so pretty good all round i'd say

well a very dissapointing transfer window no damaio or cb or any big signing that was promised and we end up with a couple of old injury prone has beens which wont improve on the squad . loads of loans going out and these two walking sticks coming in .pls mr levy like you to come on here and say why why why but dought you will . maybe you not sure if harry will be with us next season if thats the case then ok but you should of got damaio he is fantastic Plus he would of had time to settle in . lets hope this doesnt come and bite us as now we have a shed load of injuries and bear bones as cover

Hey guys i kow many are upset with what happened on deadline day and honestly i wasnt over the moon either.
I trust harry and our squad. Obviously they are aiming for 3rd this season and maybe FA cup.
I would take that start of the season honestly.

I think being outsiders for the title is better.

All we did really was loaned and sold fringe players who needed game time and replaced them with two experienced pl players

Both of them will do when when called upon. Both have short term deals so obviously they are just there to fill the numbers this season.

Next season will be the season where the tile shall be targeted . I say benzema could come in to replace ade and vertonghen too.

As for cover right now I amnt afraid as long as bale king and modric are fit.

Defoe is an able replacement for vaart and niko for azza. Sandro could play dm too and thudd is returning.
It is absolutely vital that bale is fit though.

I think saha might make bench apps and might nick 2-3 goals really and talking of goals it is pleasing to see bale and modders amongst them. Vaart and ade need more though. Was imp by lancastors performance expecting gr8 things from him

COYS
p.s what do you tihnk ed? {Ed001's Note - I think the club looks very likely to get top 3, at the start of the season you would all have been happy with that wouldn't you? It may not have been as ambitious a window as many would have liked, but surely that will do.}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

01 Feb 2012 12:48:16
Ok people, deep breath.think we were all dissappointed and bemused by this window.all we can do now is hope levy and redknaap are correct and we are wrong.because top 3 has to be priority,to win the league would have been a mountain, whoever we bought in.but we can still hope and pray for that.lets all pull together, and muster the biggest tottenham finish in our recent history.Top 3,and wembley beckon. Then regroup in the summer, when we know where we stand on the manager front. We have a new stadium on the way,so be prepared for levy to be extra careful.

To all Spurs fans - I am a bit confused to say the least by our transfer business yesterday. Can anyone explain to me why we let Bassong go, Pav go, Pienaar go, Corluka go and bought in Louis HAHA & Ryan Nelson? I do not understand why we have done that. Is Harry leaving in the summer and we are holding back the 'treasure chest' for a new manager? I cant make any sense out of it. Can anyone clear some light on the situation... COYS!!!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Bassong is pants,Pienaar wasnt interested, Pav wanted to go, Charlie was too slow. Was hoping a few others would have gone as well.

01 Feb 2012 11:41:30
Did forget Corluka space in the squad, but have to assume with Livermore on 30 apps, Redknapp has enough faith in using awkward cover in that position. Was the reason for no clean sheet last night.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

01 Feb 2012 11:36:04
When does the Loan season finish? Was it last night as well, just obviously not at 11 o'clock?
It's just very strange for people as tight on the purse strings as Redknapp and Levy to allow Pienaar to go without at least some form of cover? Every squad player that left had a replacement, Pav ---> Saha, Bassong ---> Nelson, So i kinda assume it was suppose to be Pienaar ---> Krasic, knowing he wanted a permanent move, maybe could still be on for a loan?

All the other loans out were not squad players atm as we are only in two competitions, i would agree keep some/ replace if we were still in the european/ mickey mouse cup but as we are not there is no need to think of the squad as unbalanced, except for maybe the pienaar point...

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Hope this helps -

Outside the transfer windows, any club may still sign players on an emergency basis (such as all goalkeepers out injured for example) with special permission from the governing body (such as the Prmier LEague or/and the FA. This clearly doesn't apply to this case. The second part of this legislation states that any player that doesn't have a club can be signed outside off he transfer window if they are unattached free agents when the previous window closed.

Ok ok let's all relax if we see Charlie pinaar and bass along with bass in the squad 4 mnf we would all go mad so let's look on the bright side. Defoe plays anyway if striker problems and we got enough cover at the back kabul can cover walker with Dawson coming in and huddlestone is back light training. The summer is where it's important to keep our best not buy. Remember the 50m bid 4 luka b4 going made at mr levy.. Edd agree {Ed001's Note - I can fully understand the outs made, but the ins were extremely strange to me. Two injury prone players, good as they are, that are not exactly at their peak ages. It screams to me that Levy is not confident of Harry being in charge next season, as they seem to be a short term fix.}

were all disappointed yes.
but the club has signed 2 experienced premier league players on very short term contracts.
nelson is a leader who will have an impact in the dressing room and can step into the back line and perform very well when required.
saha is a very capable striker, with vast experience which could also prove vital, during the run in of the season.
most of the moaners have gone[pav pienaar and bassong but not gio] which will improve the mind set of the players and the wage bills are off the clubs books
the players signed are certainly no worse than those that have gone and will only be squad players so its not like we will be playing them week in week out.
thats unlikely anyway as theyre injury prone, but i dont think its doom or gloom.
the transfer funds are still there ,ready for the summer when the management issue is resolved.
in some ways this may install more confidence in the current playing staff, reinforcing the fact that they are good enough to challenge for the title, without the need for a star name halfway thru the season.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

But the problem is , why can't the management see what the fans can ? The title is there to be taken , we just needed a deadly goal taker ! If levy was worried about what Arry is going to do then he should do something about it , not risk what could be our best season ever ! Tell the Fa that if Arry goes we want this much in compo , and talk to Arry and tell him what we expect ! Don't let the club suffer because the manager might leave ! If he didn't trust Arry to spend wisely then he should have done what he normally does and do the buying himself !!

This lad is a complete liability, hes lazy , always injured, never scores, basically rubbish, I am a great admirer of your team and love watchin the free flowing football you play, but honestly guys , really feel for you on this one, i hope im wrong but louis saha will bring nothing at all to help your team he is complete garbage.....good luck

Some perspective please.
Saha and Neslon are equal too if not better than the players they have been brought in to replace.
Why would Levy risk fortunes in the January transfer window when the current squad are doing so well?
In January you normally pay inflated prices for the best players and as we are unsure of who will be manager next season why spend millions now on players a new manager may not want?
We also have the new stadium to build - no coincidence that there was an announcement on the commitment to building this at White Hart Lane yesterday. Something to deflect attention from the transfer dealings.
It's a great time to be a spurs fan at the moment but it's so disappointing reading some of the comments on here, very negative.
We brought in 3 players last summer that improved us. We'll do similar business I'm sure this summer. This is how Manchester Utd have built a great side over the years - not by making wholesale changes at every opportunity. Little improvements at the start of the season, not panic buys during it.
People saying we should have used this transfer window to step up to the next level need to realise that compared to previous seasons, we are at the next level.
2 or 3 players in the summer could make sure we stay at that level and reguarly challange for the title.
Some people on here need a reality check if they think Levy or Redknapp lack ambition or are doing a bad job!!
And the person who posted the customer care email address to encourage complaints - why? What is there to complain about this season? Other fans reading these posts make us a laughing stock - not the actions of Levy or Redknapp!

Well before Christmas, a certain somebody posted his now infamous 3 predictions.
I was the first question his predictions.
I first asked him to explain his confidence and I was slaghtered. Then I asked him to varify his sauce and for my efforts in seeking clarity i was cowadly attacked and called rather childish names from behind his keyboard. Being the bigger man, I ignored the jibes and even asked others to "wait and see" before being quick to judge. Lets remind ourselves of the extremely confident, even arrogant predictions -

1. Cahill to sign for us - WRONG
2. Olympic Stadium to be ours - WRONG see yesterdays press release
3. Diamio to sign for us this window - WRONG AGAIN

Looks like I was right to question the "all seeing oracle" all along.

Never again will anything stated by the oracle even be read by myself. You know as much about whats s really going on as Tevezs' travel agent. Well done Oracle/Ceefax/Timothy Brown/Knobhead or whatever your calling yourself now. Do us all a favour and go do one. You are just as bigger joke as our latest signings. saha and Neilson - GOD HELP US.

See you next transfer window for some more claptrap Mr. Oracle but rest assured, we will be watching for you then ignoring you that is if the Ed's dont spot you from your IP address and block you first (Im still laughing at that one)

From a smug and vindicated, Flippit.

I know that I am just one of the many that sits in the terraces , and Arry and Daniel are the men in the know but what I cant understand is this ! We had a chance to sell pieneer , pav , bassong , charlie , gio . With the exception of charlie , we didnt want these players so why did we not sell them , but we loaned them instead . This means that come the end of the season , the dross will come creeping back , joining bentley and anus , and we still wont be able to sell them . I think we have been badly let down by all at the lane , and I am seriously worried that we could now lose Bale and Modders in the summer as why should they show loyalty when the manangement cant back the club !
Davo

Believable0 Unbelievable1

Davo,
Have faith. Look at how Levy kept Modders at the start of the season - surely that shows that we won't to be serious contenders and not sell to the teams we want to challange.
We've also got a new stadium to look forward to. We're challanging for the title this season and can only throw away 3rd place.
The summer becomes a big transfer window and an opportunity to add a couple of players of real quality that will keep us challanging.
We've done better than anyone has expected with our current squad.
I remember similar comments after the last transfer window, but look where we are! Modders and Bale will go nowhere in the summer when we can offer a serious title challange next season and champions league football.
Have faith fellow yod - the good times are just beginning.

Well what an absolute disgrace! 4 of our best players injured, 4 players gone and we get the two of the worst deadline day signings ever! Why has this happened? Has levy lost it? Talk lower down about a big transfer kitty for the summer. Who are we going to attract if we finish 6th? Unlikely but possible considering a speight of injurys and we have no depth. If bale and modric get injured then what? Perhaps a loan deal David batty!! Utterly disappointed!!

Great, 2 defenders, 1 midfielder and 1 striker out - 1 striker (ish) and an injured defender in.
I'm no Professor but with the best kids already out on loan doesn't that leave us lighter for the run-in!?!?

5pts off the top but calling it a day for the season with 4th place looking likely without a mini-collapse. I for one don't think there's ever been a better chance to win the league, we haven't had much luck but need a massive stack of it now to get close.

First 11-13 still good enough (as long as Mod, Bale and Lennon aren't out, otherwise we lose all width and balance) but, can't see it without a goal-rush from Ade starting and a 3-4month Harry-special burst out of Saha.

All in all a bit of a white flag waved and a 'we know our real place' message to the Mancs and Chelski.

Pav, Corluka, Pienaar, Bassong, Falque, Carrol, Kane & Townsend all gone.
Defoe & Lennon injured, Adebayor, VDV & Walker all picked up injures.
All to be replaced by Saha & Nelson not to mention Dos Santos remaining at the club.

We are going to struggle with the number of players we have let leave on loan! Just don't understand or agree with any of the deals done today! Absolute pointless and rubbish in my opinion. I get loaning the kids out for experience but for first team players i.e pienaar, Charlie, bassong. Such a bad management decision!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

01 Feb 2012 00:13:11
Fantastic win tonight to put up 5 points off both teams at the top. It has certainly been a very interesting transfer window.

In:

Saha - Loan until end of season
Nelsen - Free transfer

Out:

Pavlyuchenko - £8 million to Lokomotiv Moscow
Corluka - Loan to Leverkusen until summer
Pienaar - Loan to Everton until summer
Bassong - Loan to Wolves until summer

I have to say I'm extremely happy with the players who have gone out. All of them were desperate to get first team football and we must have taken at the very minimum £130,000 off the wage bill. The players coming in I'm not so sure about. The fact that they are both very short term deals means it isnt too bad, however, they are both extremely injury prone so won't have too much of an impact, imo.

I just worked out that including the £29 or so million that we sold in the summer, and the £8 million for Pav, we are at least £30 million in profit from transfers this season. I'm happy about this, but we had better spend that money on a legit striker in the summer, especially with the extra Champions League revenue that we will hopefully have. Harry or his replacement should have a war chest of at least £50 million even before we get rid of any more of the squad players in the summer.
