for the first time in years we have no spurs players going to the world cup on a plus side our team will be fresh when the season starts I also think this is one of the weakest england teams I have seen poor picks in milner, jones, smalling, wellbeck, lampard and cleverly and carroll on standby says it all how on earth didn't caulker get picked I also like bolasie at palace

Without a manager?

Agree0 Disagree0

Paulinho who has looked nackered since he joined, he'll be shattered next season with yet another summer tournament

Agree0 Disagree0

Do you mean no Spurs players in the England Squad?

Because we still have a few going to the world cup, Lloris, Vertonghen, Dembele, Chadli and Paulinho to mentioned a few.

Agree0 Disagree0

Bentaleb of course!

Like simmo's post and agree with his analysis there is a train of thought that Sherwood is not that bad barring faults and an itching irritating arrogance, but Pochehtini de boer are gambles Benitez experienced does not play the spurs way and a slight gamble, this is a hard call, not much out there, mentioned Hoddle before spurs man great coach older and wiser probably safe pair of hands although, Levy won't go down this route . Starting to think baldinis mate allegro maybe there was truth and legs in this before maybe even cappello there's a thought, As I state hard call for Levy either he pulls a rabbit out of the hat or anchelloti gets sacked, and Levy becomes lucky which I think highly unlikely, take de boer, Pochehtini out and Benitez who is there for us . Remember Christian Gross and the tube ticket could it happen again made myself ill with the thought of cappello . Its fact who ever it is knows and has a smile on his face when it is announced will us Spurs fans have smiles on our faces or egg on our chins . My fear is us spurs fans will be let down again, and once again we will be debating the same issue who is going to be our manager . and the faults and let downs of the last one .LEVY GET THIS ONE RIGHT .

I remember a few years ago mocking the Arsenal for not having many players in the England squad.

Now look.

Not a single Spurs player.

Allbeit Walker would have made it had he been fit.

I miss our British spine to the team. Seems we have gone foreign in recent times.

Players like Crouch, Defoe, Huddlestone, King, Keane, Bale, Parker in most recent times….

But looking at our youth squad, we have a heck of a lot of talent waiting to break through. Let's hope next season we get to see more of the likes of Kane, Pritchard, McEvoy, Coulibaly, Fredericks!

Dave, not sure if Coulibaly is English

Sorry but seriously, good young British players are rare, and very expensive! I hope that this country can produce excellent talent, not only for us but for the national squad but we stifle our kids from school age upwards . Good kids are handicapped because its unfair if the little fat kid can't win, or teams are handicapped so other teams win because we don't want their confidence to drop, its not all about winning, it's all B******s . We are so PC in everything we do, too scared to upset the apple cart . It maybe a game but it is all about winning . Players don't do this for love, they do it for fame and the money . They might love the club they play for, but that's not why they play . Until we install the winning mentality into our kids, and the fact that there will always be a loser, don't let it be you, we will always be second best and the foreign teams and players will rule . At present we have a manger who follows the same rules, who admitted that his philosophy is, I pick who try's the hardest not who is the most skilful, that's bull***t . Tell that to players like Ginola, George Best, Rodney Marsh, even Bale . Players that drifted in and out of a game, doing nothing for 80% of it and then winning the game with one bit of SKILL . Compare them to the headless chickens that run around, looking busy and winning nothing! Actually we have a couple in our team and they do seem to be TS's favourite players!

Mckevoy is Irish

It's a shame in some ways given his service to the club, being English for a change and having an air of honesty about his approach but Sherwood does have to go.
It looks like, apart from Ade who he brought back in from the cold, the kind of players playing for him and displaying the right attitude he talks about are the likes of Rose, Naughton, Dawson, Bentaleb, Kane and other youngsters. To me these represent 'squad players' and some with potential at best, a couple who should be ditched too! Not the calibre of a first XI we need to push back to where we have been and how we've been playing in the 3-4years before this one (albeit we've only dropped 1-2places).
There is a case for how and when he came into the job along with all the injuries that he should be given some credit for the fact he's still ended with a good win % and only 3pts off last season and, has used the past few months to experiment and 'trial' various players and positions. However, too many things have been a worry; Vertonghen and Sandro situations, seemingly preferring to try 'triers' as opposed to naturally better players (I'm afraid players do have more power these days and, it might be a frustrating thing and not always savoury but, you pay them for their ability now, not their likeability). Certain experiments have just ended up looking naïve at best and tactically it hasn't been good at times either.
I can actually forgive him his rants and raves, ok so it isn't necessarily wise to slate players but, somebody should give them a little bit back if they're going to be disrespectful, at the end of the day he is the boss and we've never all liked or rated all our bosses have we. Also, there's something to be said for somebody that obviously cares about the club and results - Sherwood can't be blamed for all the individual clown-like mistakes we saw from the New Year by players in games, many were disgusting lacks of concentration, players needed to take some responsibility and many didn't and didn't seem to care as much as him.
Ultimately we need somebody with more experience to develop the potential in the squad and who is far more qualified and tactically astute but, i'm really not sure Pochettino or De Boer fit that bill at all so let's be careful what we wish for. LVG would've probably had other issues that came with him so apart from somebody like Hiddink, Ancelotti or even Benitez, who could really bring all that? If we were going to go down the home-grown, give somebody a chance route then it should've been Hoddle not Sherwood but there we go, season over, all the usually pointless optimism to come again now!
