Harry Redknapp is planning a £150 million transfer rampage in an attempt to get his Spurs side back into the top 4.

Questions are starting to be asked as to where the massive transfer budget is coming from with Redknapp apparently only having £7 million to spend, claiming that he would have to sell before he could buy.
The answer appears to be one big gamble as a source close to the club has revealed, Euro-millions, we have put the whole £7 million of our transfer budget on the Euro-millions. We have bought 3.5 million tickets and are extremely optimistic of winning the £166 million up for grabs. Daniel Levy has done the maths and it makes total sense, we cannot believe no other club is doing it. Champions League here we come.
Harry Redknapp is fully behind the high risk strategy knowing that it is win or bust , adding If we want to get back to Europe s top table we have to have the big money and at the moment this is our only option. The lads have all done their bit filling in the numbers. With everyone using birthdays, house numbers and their age we soon had 30 lines filled in, the other 3 million odd we just put on lucky dip.

Of course we have a contingency plan if, God forbid, the numbers don t come in. Big Joe Jordan is still fit enough to do a job, as are little Clive Allen and mid-size Tim Sherwood so we are not to worried, and i m sure our Jamie is still up for a kick about.

Just think, this time tomorrow we will be millionaires.

Only Barcelona and Tottenham scored more goals from outside the box than Fiorentina over the Euro top-5 leagues last season. Long-range"

Plus side: we have players like Bale, VdV, Huddlestone, Sandro, Niko, and Kaboul who can score outside the box.

Negative side: we have no strikers who can finish in the box.

Think our team looks class and capable of winning the league. Dont like lukas attitude but hope he stays. Even if he doesnt niko is nearly as good or else vdv can gothere and two strikers . Seems someone new is coming to play striker. Think rossi is class even falcao. Bale can play lb so that our defence an dkeeper speaks fluent english with walker at rb daws and king centre and friedel in goal. Can provide good width too so vdv ont he left cutting in then. Pavs record was impressive last saeson even niko think they shuld play more. For strikers think crouch needs a partner up top. Keane defoe up also impresses me. Glory beckons.Thimk we need to work in the market a bit though. Love levy and harrys work Daws best cb and cpt in world

I think everyone has started to panic. If modric goes, he goes. We have coped well with the loss of big players in the past (berba, carrick, atouba) and we will again. As for harry, I think he's the best manager we've had in 20 years, if he does take the england job then we are a big enough club to get a high profile manager in. I also think we will get a top drawer signing, Hulk or Falcao could still sign, if not then its Super Pav all the way.

If Modric goes and this is a big If i have a few targets we could go for
===============================
Yoann Gourcuff - 20-30m

The Lyon midfielder was one of the prime transfer targets of European clubs in the last summer transfer window when he opted to make a move to Lyon in the French Ligue 1. Gourcuff is known for his composure on the ball and his ability from set pieces. The French midfielder fell out of favour with the French national team in the FIFA 2010 World Cup due to his lacklustre performances at the international level but there is no doubt about his ability to perform at the highest level.

Gourcuff rose to prominence at Bordeaux where he led the French underdogs to a Ligue 1 triumph in the 2008-2009 season. However his move to Lyon has stifled his development as a player. Nonetheless, Harry Redknapp would be wise to seek a move for Gourcuff as he would need a ball playing midfielder in order to replace the outbound Luka Modric. Gourcuff s versatility means that he can play as an attacking midfielder or as a central one as well.

Given that Tottenham play a 4-4-1-1 formation, the Frenchman can play just behind the striker or in central midfield alongside the likes of Wilson Palacios or even Sandro as well as Huddlestone. One thing that Tottenham might want to look out for is Gourcuff s price tag which will be high given that he signed a five year deal with Lyon last summer just before the FIFA 2010 World Cup.

Furthermore, the French playmaker is seen as someone who might struggle to make a name for himself outside France as exhibited by his failure to break through at A.C Milan. Carlo Ancelotti famously stated that Gourcuff had some psychological problems which hampered his growth at Milan, it remains to be seen whether or not Redknapp takes a risk with such a mercurial talent.
===============================
Eden Hazzard - 20-30m

Whilst Gourcuff has failed to hit the ground running at Lyon, Hazard has taken Lille by storm in the French Ligue 1. The Belgian youngster has become the star of the show at Lille as he led them to the league title last season. Hazard has been compared to the likes of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo given that he drifts towards the wings but his main position is as an attacking midfielder. Modric s replacement must bring creativity and dynamism with it and these are the traits that define Hazard s game play.

Last season he assisted 10 and scored seven goals whilst playing 38 times for Lille in their title charge in French Ligue 1. For Tottenham, Hazard can play on the wing or in central midfield. The Belgian youngster is still learning and developing as a player and thus Harry Redknapp might be reluctant to serve up his big price tag.
===============================
Javi Martinez - 10-15

The Spanish midfielder is the heir apparent to Xavi s midfield spot in the Spanish national team spot. Javi was central to Spanish U-21 team s European Championship triumph in Denmark earlier on in the summer as he expertly dictated the midfield traffic. Javi Martinez is presently under contract at Athletic Bilbao and like Luka Modric he is central to his team s chances of maintaining a permanent presence in the Spanish Primera Division. Martinez is seen as the next big thing in Spain but Harry Redknapp s Tottenham might have the financial firepower to lure him away from the Spanish league.

There is no doubting the fact that Martinez can effectively replace Luka Modric in Tottenham s midfield. Not only that, the young Spanish midfielder as the age on his side which makes him an ideal replacement for Luka Modric. Nonetheless, Harry would want to be careful in his approaches for the young Spaniard. Most Spanish players have shown that they excel in Spanish football and eventually want to return to Spain to play for Real Madrid or Barcelona given the chance as exhibited by both Antonio Reyes and Cesc Fabregas.

Furthermore, Martinez is a bit light weight when it comes to his physical appearances which might be a drawback considering English football s highly physical nature. Regardless, Redknapp should not worry about Javi s lack of physical presence because he is similar in stature to Luka Modric. If Martinez does arrive at Tottenham, they will definitely gain an edge over their English Premier League rivals considering the Spanish midfielder s vision and composure.
===============================
Miralem Pjanic- 8-14m
Pjanic, similar to Modric in style, is rated one of the more accomplished creative players in French football. And Lyon are prepared to cash in, so Harry Redknapp will have a chance if the worst happens with Modric.

Ethnic cleansing forced Pjanic s  family to flee their homeland when he was just a one-year-old babe in arms. They moved to Luxembourg and he represented his adopted country at youth level.
================================
Milan Badelj - £8.5m

He's Croatian, he plays for Dinamo Zagreb and he's a pretty good playmaker see the similarities? Badelj is three years Modric's junior but following quickly in the same footsteps. With an international cap in the bag, Badelj has been attracting interest from around Europe, including CSKA Moscow, Lazio and even those dastardly Red Devils Manchester United. At 22 years old, Badelj is rumoured to be available for around £8.5m.

His coach has said ''he is far better than Luka was when he played for us. im not saying Luka was bad but Milan is something else. his skills, scoring ability and passing ability are fantastic.'' some praise for someone i have never heard of.
========================================
Xherdan Shaqiri - 10-14m

No, not Gerrard Pique's hip-shaking girlfriend, but the Kosovo-born, 19-year-old Swiss international and newest wonder-kid on the block, Xherdan Shaqiri. You may remember his class performance against England in the dismal 2-2 European qualifier in June, or his eye-catching displays during the under-21 European Championships. Shaqiri's contract expired at FC Basel in January of this year, but surprisingly no one snapped him up and he signed a new deal with the Swiss club. Now he's a sought after talent and the cost has rocketed to around £10m, but that still that's a bargain compared to the £30m he would probably command had he been born in Kidderminster rather than Kosovo.

this is it i think any of these players will fill Modric's boots with ease in the next few years or maybe even now although we don't have to look abroad for a play-maker who scores more goals than Modric, Loves the club more than Modric and his passing ability is on the same level as Modric and that person is Niko. im new to this site and tell me what you think

Good lord Chairman Budrow was right.
Ye one sick, deluded lot.

You "missed out" on Rossi? Christ You NEVER EVER had any chance of signing such a talent. Only in your wide, overactive imaginations.

Llorente, Aguero would be the "£30m striker you crave"? What, you think this is Disneyland?
Why would talented footballer who craves success and aspires to personal development go to a team with an inept manager, has low competitive ability, poor prospects and (in addition) don't even pay good wages?

Ffs You're talking about attracting top players when you're struggling to even keep your own star player.

You mouth off for all the world to that Spurs are a "top team going places" and that you're "inches away from the big time".
If that's the case, why the does Modric want out, huh?
If things are "happening" at yer club" then why oh does Luka want out the door as in... yesterday?

Easy. The short answer's that you CAN'T satisfy the lad's ambitions.
The long one: on top of having a decidedly inept manager, you've got no money to compete at the big table for the big fish; you've no lure to attract the sort o players Luka believes, and rightly so, will take your team forward.

As much I despise yer club, I'll say that you lot could have been in a very STRONG position by now had yer manager/chairman played it smart last summer and to an extent, January.

There was a buzz all around. You had CL. You'd had some great results against many of the big four. You had to kick on.
3 very good, fairly inexpensive, not so "flashy" signings would've taken you a level a two up.

Shockingly, you did nothing of note in the window. Friggin bugger all.
Your manager very foolishly saying he was "happy" with his forwards. Madness.

January came, a chance to up make for the summer. And again, bugger all.
Deadline day we see Spurs, quite embarrassingly, throwing random bids at clubs for players which they, let's be honest, were never going to get.

And as we all know, things got disastrous with each game. You were even got very nearly pipped to fifth by us. It all went tits up.

Now face it. Even when you had CL, getting the cream of crop would've nigh impossible for you.
And now that you don't have CL, and taking into account that you don't have the financial muscle to buy for big bucks and pay big wages, the scales are considerably tilted out yer favour.

Modric knows this.
The lad wants to compete for, and win, trophies.
I'm sure he'd like to do that at yer club, but reality dictates that it can't be done.

He knows that, due to more reasons than one, Spurs cannot go out there and buy Sakho, Hazard, Rossi and Aguero.
If you could, there's no doubt that he'd want to be at yer club.
It's a bit like Torres with us.
He wanted to win things with us but realised that we're some time away from that.

Instead of bashing Modric (fair enough, tho), why don't you lot ask yourselves what is it that made him conclude that the club he signed a new six year contract with not so long ago won't enable him to achieve what he wants?

I don't for one second believe that Modric wanting out has much to do with Chelsea.
Rather, it's what he's seeing or isn't seeing at yer club.
It's more about him wanting to leave Spurs than him wanting to join the Moscow outpost, if ye get my drift.

I'm sure there will be some of ye who'll talk trash about Liverpool.
Well, ignoring that I'm an LFC for a moment, I think it's fair to say that Liverpool are in much better position right now than Spurs.

We have stability all round: management, coaching team, players.
In any case, we still have a massive lure as evidenced, inter alia, by Mata very much being open to a move to us, in spite of our recent troubles.
I understand that Tottenham's recent overtures to the player were knocked back.

We're able to buy for big bucks and pay big wages.
Spurs don't.
Adebayor said he'd play for ye. Problem: his wages.

And yer stadium plans are a long way from amounting to anything other than just that: plans.

You've got an incredibly large squad, with a sizeable amount being deadwood, on fairly high wages... deadwood you having mounting difficulties shipping out.

Chairman Levy has stated that a large number of these player have to be sold before any considerable outlay on incomings is made.

We (LFC) also have our own trash to get rid of. But, unlike Spurs, that's not stopping us from bringing in new players. We don't have to sell before we can buy.

As you can see yourselves, Henderson and Adam have already been bagged. Downing, Doni and possibly Cissokho could well be sealed in the coming weeks.
There's movement.

Although far from being rosy, I'd say we're in far better position than ye, as much as you won't admit it.

Spurs won't be competing at the big table, ye can't.
So all this Llorente, Rossi, Aguero, Benzema et al talk is bunk, utter delusion.
There's ambition and there's delusion.
You lot fall in the latter.

Burmeister

Believable1 Unbelievable3

I'm sorry you think you can come on here and be really mouthy and claim your club is by fair superior to ours. we finished above you last season and did the double over you lot. you have now signed Adam, Henderson and maybe Downing, Well over priced players and claim you could sign those players even though you lot didn't even manage to get a measly European spot.

I'm sorry if our fans annoy you with there ambition and our passion but unfortunately for you that's what spurs fans are like we have Brilliant supporters and a fantastic club.

I know exactly what you are doing and that's trying to pick an argument to distract you from your miserable club and you miserable site. Yes Luka Want's to leave and yes we didn't get into the top four but it isn't the end of the world for us far from it we have fantastic loyal players (bar Modric) who love playing week in week out for our club. to be honest i think we can sign Llorente, Robben, Van Bommel, Tasci, Hazard and other world class players because we are a squad with fantastic players aka Bale, VDV, Dawson, Gallas, Sandro, King and do i need to go on also we are a club who destroyed Ac Milian, Inter and Werder Bremen and we are very well known, im half Spanish and they consider Spurs to be in amongst the top clubs in the world let alone in England.

Yes you have won more trophies than us and yes you do also have brilliant players but remember that its not happening anymore and the glory of winning trophies and fighting amongst Europe's elite have ended. and do i have to remind you of Man Utd 19th title.

Agree0 Disagree0

Sounds like you are just as 'deluded' as us Spurs fans.

Where exactly are Liverpools 'big' signings?
Does Henderson count as a big signing or Adam?
And there is a difference between paying the big bucks and just blowing money on dross. You signed Henderson and Carroll for more than double their actual value. You spent £55 mill on two very mediocre players, along with this you managed to sign Adam, a player deemed too poor to play in the Scottish league and are being royally screwed by Villa and there value for Downing, which no doubt you will give into and pay.

And then you belittle our stadium plans, where exactly is your new stadium? We are just as far along as you in our stadium development (if not further). Atleast we aren't looking at a stadium share with our arch rivals as a plurable option.

So whilst I agree that your club may seem more stable at this present moment in time and you do seem to have an abundance of money to blow on mediocre players, perhaps you should wait until the end of the transfer market before berating our club.

You Liverpool fans really do have short memories, can't you remember back to when your club were being ran into the ground by two idiotic Americans? And now you think you can get on your high horse just because your club has been taken over.

The main difference between our club and yours is that we are a well run club who manage to make a profit each season and once this Modric saga is over, we will go back to going from strength to strength whilst you contiue to pay over the odds for rubbish and struggle to keep within the new financial rules.

all this talk of liverpool winning this, on the up is utter crap.dalgleish will quit when it doesnt all come up smelling of roses.
remember his newcastle adventure?

Agree0 Disagree0

Wow, calm down and take a breath mate.
What a superb club Liverpool must be
Now King Kenny is back anything is possible right?
Sorry mate, you should 've gone to specsavers.

I would call myself a vocal Tottenham fan, one that would defend the club come what may but Jeez, never have I read such optimistic, myopic, tunnel visioned drivel in my life.
Suddenly Liverpool, despite paying 35mil, yes 35MIL, for an unproved striker have again got the World at thier feet, that must be the case, Charlie Adam has signed and what a huge name he is in his local.

Mate you and your supporters have what most Spurs fans have and that is history, you're no further foward than we are and if I'm honest, Modric saga aside, I'd much rather be where we are than you guys because in terms of expectations, if one set of rabid fans are even worse than ours its Liverpool's and if Dagleish doesn't hit the ground running this coming season then you'll be circling the wagons again, moaning that you shouldn't have signed this guy or that.

As a previous post said, Spurs took six points off you last season and more importantly deserved to.

I really think when you're using the term dilusional you should be looking in a mirror, the fact we "missed" out on Rossi and you signed Carroll speaks volumes and the fact you lost Torres tells me you are as deep in it as we are, at least Modric hasn't gone yet, Torres headed for the hills as soon as Chelski came calling, so not only did he want out he got out, so arguably you've already lost your star player, so I guess Liverpool couldn't match his ambitions then?

Again as I posted a while back to some other person who comes on a web page that clearly says Tottenham (oh sorry I forgot, you didn't go to specsavers) why are you on here if you despise the club? Why waste your time and effort to post?
It doesn't make sense unless the delusional dreams you've been reading on your own teams pages were getting too much for you.

I've always had a grudging respect for Liverpool and have several friends who are fans, even been to a few games at Anfield with them, all I can say is thank the lord not all of them are as spiteful as you appear to be for no other reason than the fact we didn't sign a player the media speculated we were going to.

Yhink azza and bale shuld play as left and right striker cos we need goals. If modric fusses more and a 35m + offer comes let him go. Niko scores more and is nearly as good. hudd culd play too.
Thinkif he stays:
Friedel
Walker king daws rose
vdv sandro modric
azza new striker falcao or rossi bale

This way we can score more and vdv sandro modric can make late runs in the box. rose and walker can do what alves does for barca and provide the width for uswith sandro as our most imp player breaking down ANY counter attack. Think it really could work cos our whole defence this way speaks fluent english including friedel and bale and azza can score a lot cutting inwards. So bale play this role against RM after crouchy got sent off and he looked quite good but needed a main striker. What do you think ed?
{Ed008's Note -Bale's strength is more on the left he's not like Adam Johnson liking to cut in, his crossing is his strength. I would like to see Bale go back to LB put VDV on the left of a 4-4-2 that way VDV cuts in allowing overlap runs from Bale which is what we saw in the year we qualified for the CL and done us good.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

Think it shuld be good. As for strikers I think we culd try out whgat we have in the pre seaosn cos

Def had one poor season and I think misses thuds thru balls
Pav was reasonably good with 14 goals in 22 games
Crouch cant paly upfront alone needs adefoe or keane playing of him.
Keane still scores for ireland and can for us if we show confideence in him
Harry must chose one and use only him or maybe two for the442 . with bale at lb def would look good. Think niko shuld play some games too deserves it cos 2 goals in 2 starts is pretty impressive

It appears that most of our faithful are reaching for the panic button in light of the Modric situation. I'm not so sure that the knee jerk responses are well informed or just those created by blind panic.

1) Levy isn't interested in selling key players, if Modric does end up leaving, it will be on Levy's terms. The player will have to hand in a written transfer request, forfeit all outstanding bonus + contract related payments and in turn Spurs will put a massive price tag on him. If the team that finished 2nd last season want to improve their squad with Modric then they will have to pay top dollar to do so. Other interested clubs will find the negotiations with Spurs easier then Rom(mel)'s plaything.

2) Modric's departure won't result in the sale of Bale, VDV etc. The public reaction to Modric and players like him (Tevez, Fabregas etc) hasn't been at all good and displays a serious detachment from general society which Bale, VDV etc would understand better then Modric's botched attempt at player power.

3) Levy is prepared to invest in the playing squad but struggles with Redknapp's choice of targets, which are generally against the recommendation of club scouts and also his ability to talk to the media about any and everything.

Good post, well thought out and reasoned. The only thing I will say, yet again, is the need for Levy to ship him out of the Premiership and to, under no circumstances sell him to any English club. Ferguson is a master at doing this, we should take heed. Worse case scenario? We get what we paid for him back but with the smug satisfaction that no other English club could have him and Modric was forced into going abroad because he would have spent next season cleaning the apprentices boots. Hopefully.

The general feeling is that most of the playing squad haven't been overly impressed with the way Modric and / or his advisors have dealt with the situation. The squad are quite a close knit group with a lot of team spirit and I can't see anyone else wanting to be seen to behave in the way Modric has, Bale is well grounded and has good people working on his behalf, can't see him being one to rock the boat further.
