Anyone get the feeling leave-it-late Levi has boobed again? While I appreciate the fact that clubs can't pick off our better players at will the fact remains that we are less than a week away from the season opener and we aren't properly equipped with strikers and our best player is being forced to train on his own which to me doesn't bode well for the start of the season especially as Newcastle away isn't the easiest first fixture to have. Think Levi has to face facts, Modric wants out, Real have offered us 30m which with existing funds should mean we can get the strikers we need AND a decent replacement for Modders. Got to be honest, if things stay as they are we'll do well to get a point at SJP.

Believable3 Unbelievable2

I think we need to have some faith that the striker situation will be resolved. Ade will probably end up coming and maybe another striker or wing forward.

For me, the biggest puzzle with the Modric saga is that he's not training with the rest of the squad. Sure, he could slightly unsettle the team, but if we're pricing him (out of a move) at 35mil based on him being a valuable player it only makes sense to justify that value. If he continues to train on his own and doesn't get properly integrated into the new system, he won't be of any value whatsoever. At the moment he's worth nothing because he isn't part of the team and won't be ready for the first games of the season. Most likely, with Real reluctant to pay the fee - he'll have to get over his petulance at some point. We may as well get on with it asap. I think we either sell him, or give him a quick dose of reality.

hk_yod

Agree0 Disagree0

I suspect he is not training with the first team cause he will not be here once the window closes ...all a matter of getting a replacement ...possibly M'Villa signed or someone else that AVB wants.

Agree0 Disagree0

Above poster, I hope you're right. M'Villa would be a good replacement.

Maybe I'm wrong, but surely if he's not training with the squad because he won't be here once the window closes, it implies we know he will be sold and that we have already found a buyer willing to meet the asking price. It wouldn't make a lot of sense to gamble on some one eventually stumping up. So why delay the sale? Can't imagine us doing too much business before he's gone.

hk_yod

Agree0 Disagree0

To hk_yod

If the club(s) we are negotiating with for his replacement know we have just secured 30million, they know we can pay more for there player and the price goes up accordingly. Whilst we all "know" he's gone, until it's official no money has passed hands so the price doesn't go up as much as they may price a player out if a move and that could be very costly (especially if the player in guest ion is nearing the end if his contract).
Simply put, it's the age old business rule of "supply verses demand = cost."

Flippit.

Agree1 Disagree0

The wing forward that can play as wing or striker is belived to be remy espn said yesterday he wasnt playing in the marsialle match they said he could be discussing a move to spurs him and loris

Agree0 Disagree0

Flippit wouldnt be surprised if modders has already been sold subject to a to a replacement being found ,,
do you not think that when spurs approach any other club for a like for like player ie modders they will know he has been sold so unlikely u will get anyone on the cheap bevy style

Agree1 Disagree0

^^^ Absolutely I agree he probably has already been sold, but if it isnt official our need (desire) isn't as great, so we dont apprear as desparate.

If you are looking to buy a house, you dont going in declearing that "i really really want/need to buy this house" as the price will just go up....

Flippit.

Agree0 Disagree0

Makes some sense Flippit, yet it's unlike Spurs to sign a replacement before selling. Either way, due to our knowledge of the situation any interest (and pricing) in a replacement is going to come hand in hand with the fact he's replacing Modric - whether it's before or after his sale. It is most likely though that we have several preliminary agreements in place and we're just waiting for a few boxes to get ticked. I imagine the replacement will be announced very soon after his departure is confirmed. It's pretty obvious he's on his way out. There isn't really another possible scenario considering he still hasn't played with the rest of the squad.

Was reading on a website earlier that Ade will be confirmed tomorrow or tuesday! lets hope so.

Lloris is apparently making a stand to get tobus A.S.A.P.

We will move on Defoe if we can get minimum of two strikers in total but we have not been linked with anyone we will realistically get apart from Ade.

How come Van Pussy is training with the first team and plays (as sub) today for the ARS

And once again Rat boy's head ain't right and is training on his own and has no chance of playing next week if no bids from Real match the asking price!

What the F''ck is going on surely the valuations can't be far away if so pull the plug and get his head right for the season.

Believable2 Unbelievable1

12 Aug 2012 19:55:17
Not sure if it'll happen but I think M'Villa is exactly the kind of player we need if Modric is going. I'm not a big fan of playing two deep-lying mids but - to have one permanent defensive midfielder (Sandro) forming a triangle with the central defenders and one box to box central midfielder (M'Vila); two wingers, a target man, and a forward in the hole is, in my opinion, the way we should go. Need to spend this season moulding Sandro into the (consistent) beast we know he can be.

hk_yod

Believable7 Unbelievable0

M'vila is a solid defensive mid very makalele-ish..(he does not wander, very disciplined) not a box to box centre mid.

Agree0 Disagree1

12 Aug 2012 18:48:34
Ignore the Yann M'Villa stuff, this was made up by some wannabe journalist

Believable6 Unbelievable2

More like Mvila's agent starting the rumour so Arsenal come in with a bid. Mvila wants arsenal.

Agree2 Disagree1

No. M'villa wants trophies, so that's arsenal out the window.

Agree2 Disagree2

M'Vila wants to play football on Wednesdays

Agree0 Disagree0

M'vila wants to play in champs league not eufa league.

Agree0 Disagree0

As a spurs fan, I have to agree. M'villa won't join spurs. He wants CL football. He is going to be playing in the library next season.

Pinky, pinky,pinky.
Where are you?
Thankyou, Thankyou, Thankyou for signing hazard.
Did you see his back heel trip?
Classic!!

Believable5 Unbelievable0

Chelsea vs Man City...... el cashico

Naz

El CASHico.... lol. Nice one Naz!!

Flippit

Agree3 Disagree0

Wow a back heel that went wrong is that all u got to say! Didn't u see the little flick to set up el Nino did u see him showing great ball control and looking a threat! Anyway why u saying thank you for signing him like u was in the hunt for him! He wouldn't join a small club

Pinky

Agree1 Disagree5

Trouble is mate, he did join a small club!
The gold coin came calling and he grabbed it.
I'm glad you mentioned the flicks and tricks he done, cos when the likes of cattermole, sandro, Adam and the like slice thru him, he won't last 5 minutes.
Very much a luxury player, a prima Donna, won't last at all in the prem. he is marked already.
I can't wait till we play you. Will show him what a proper London team is.

Agree5 Disagree1

You gotta admit, it was funny.
Flat on his face, eating dirt.

Agree6 Disagree0

Why did he join a small club then, before Romans millions, you where smaller than us.
Short memory there fella.
Typical glory hunter.
Prob be a man city fan next year.

Agree5 Disagree1

Yep we a small club that was in champions league and finishing above u b4 Roman came in! Sssshhhh ur gettin embrassing!

Pinky

Agree0 Disagree2

Embarrassing? Funny that.
The roman oil money came to you season 2003/4.
You got in the CL only in 2001 before the money and been in it ever since. Ssssh, big fella, check your facts. You are getting very embarrassing. Anyone can be a big club with money. Look at city, psg, anzhi.
Now pinky, flutter back to your own site.
You need to go get behind RDM. He is gonna need it.

Agree4 Disagree0

Pinky, do you know who Ron (chopper) Harris is or Peter bonneti or John hollins. They are proper chavski legends.
I bet you stood in a playground, realised the chavs had money and decided to support them.
You have no reason to ever call a spurs fan embarrassing. They support spurs for the love of the club only, no money or glory hunting involved.
You are an embarrassment to real football fans. Real Chelsea fans.

COYS

Agree1 Disagree0

I see the Chavski's started with a bang , wasnt RDM saying last week about winning 7 competitions this year , or was that 7 games ??
Davo

Agree0 Disagree0

Chelsea fan here of a very very long time when evry other teams fan would sing there fav song stamford bridge is falling down and yes i remember osgood harris venables etc and always fighting relagation or being relagated so im sorry for being like a dog with two d'cks for the last 14 years but we true chelsea fans enjoy our club for who they are and not here just for glory or going to change to a man city shirt this season so give us real fans some credit for sticking with our team

ktbffh

Agree1 Disagree1

Ktbffh.....got no problem with you or fans like you.
When that 'pinky'comes on here, a spurs site, and starts shooting his gob off, then you must expect spurs fans to come out fighting.
You wouldn't accept it on your site, neither do we.
I personally prefer proper banter between fans, not some gob sh.te coming on here purposely to wind up.
I hope it's a great season for us all, with some normal, adult football banter.

COYS

Agree2 Disagree0

Get behind rdm lol i got behind him alright cheering him when he was lifting big ears!

pinky

Agree1 Disagree0

And yes ive been a chelsea fan for 30yrs been threw the hard times but now its the good times!

pinky

Agree1 Disagree0

Coys........fair coment i luv the banter but see what you mean we all take a cheeky glance to see what the others are doing lol but some people do try and make trouble on here and it makes for bad reading and bad blood ..im really looking forward to the upcoming season and hope its a classic cant say hope you do well as id be lying and so would you if you said it to me but lets let the battle for the top 4 begin

ktbffh

Agree0 Disagree0

You act very childish for a person that had been a chavski fan of 30 years.
Well if you have been a fan of that long, you will appreciate what spurs are trying to do and the way they are doing it. That is exactly the same way as you did it when you qualified for CL before roman's oil money came in.
We can't all get given hand outs to buy success. Now you seem to be a well educated fan, a bit more proper adult banter would be good, instead of stupid belittling comments.

Agree1 Disagree0

Ktbffh......couldn't agree more. All this p.ss taking and snidey commenting, really gets on my t.ts.
That pinky character could learn a thing or 2 from you.
Bring on the season. Just don't win the CL again please lol

Agree2 Disagree0

Lol i hope we do i wouldnt put it past us but the league is far more important now its the one i luv winning the most il give you all my special wave at the lane lol the same one you give us . look after avb he isnt all bad {90 per cent bad } and enjoy its gonna be a long battle

Just to comment.... Big up to team GB.
This 2 weeks has been amazing and if spurs give me a fraction of the goosebumps I've had, then I will be one very happy ydo.
Can't believe Olympics is over. Gutted I couldn't go.
Roll on the new season.
Hoping AVB and the boys make us all just as proud.

Utd,Chelsea and even Gooners have already made some quality signings we should be insisting Modders not for sale and bidding for quality strikers as a statement of intent that Spurs are serious about establishing ourselves as year in year out champions league regulars, not every top class player wanting to move to premiership will want to be a benchwarmers

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Here we go fellow Spurs fans. less than a weeek to go. And here it is this week will be a very very busy one for DL and AVB, I am 100% ITK. Let me tell you how this week will unfold. As we Speak DL and AVB are on a plane to America..... for golf on Monday.

Tuesday morning they fly to Holland... for sight seeing. Wednesday Morning after a press conference telling everyone that we have bidded for everyone and his dog but have refused, they will fly to Portugal... for more golf and a catch with AVB grandparents. Thursday evening they are scheduled to fly to france.... For a wine tasting day on friday, then Friday evening they fly to Newcastle to meet up with the squad for saturdays opener against the barcodes. Saturday Morning news conference with DL blaming AVB for lack of signing and vice versa. Then Saturday about 5.45pm we become laughing stock of premier League.

Don't shoot me down just thought I give you all a laugh!! and express my disappointment of the lack of signings just incase anyone missed it.

I don't know if anyone agrees, but i would love us to make a bid for Falcao of A Madrid.I think he is a clinical finisher, and would be just what we have been lacking.

Believable2 Unbelievable1

Would love to see a cheeky bid for Falcao, but it won't happen would cost around £18-20m and Levy won't pay that sort of money. Shame tho cos he is a top striker.

THFC4EVER {Ed008's Note - Double that...

Agree0 Disagree0

18-20 million are you serious? Try doubling that more like, if he was available at that price he would have moved already..

£20m? try £50m

0-0 it is.

Why would we be in for M'villa ? Isn't he a DM ? People are making him out to be a replacement for modric ?? Or does he have a passing flair about him as well ?
If he's just a DM we don't need him with sandro and Parker and hudd and Livermore
Any help on him eds ? I've never really watched him before so don't know
Thanks
Bear yid {Ed001's Note - he can be very much box to box, rather than just a defensive midfielder. Not seen enough of him to judge him properly, but he did look to have a lot more about him than just sitting in front of the defence.}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I think the idea would be to play him with sandro. I for one would be excited by that.

Agree0 Disagree0

He is deemed a DM but in the same way you would put Yaya down as DM. the mans box to box and has a bit of everything about him, obviously not saying hes gonna turn out like Yaya but certainly potential there to be a top top player. {Ed008's Note - Spot on Box to Box player in my eyes aswell.

Agree0 Disagree0

I get the impression that AVB's system requires two solid DM's in it. However, we know from last season that Sandro has a tendancy to burst from box-to-box, and by the sounds of it M'Vila can do the same. A setup of a back four, two solid mids and 4 fluid, attacking players up front (compromising of Bale, Lennon/GDS, VDV/Sigurdsson, Adebayor/Damiao) with the full backs providing width. Obviously this is dependent on a couple of positive, quality attacking signings.
I think the reality is that Modric wouldn't fit into AVB's system anyway, so money can be used on a keeper and 2 attacking players. I would like to see:

-----------------Friedel/Lloris----------------
Walker-----Kaboul------Vert------------BAE
--------Parker/M'Vila-----Sandro-----------
-----------------Sigurdsson------------------
----Dzagoev-----Adebayor--------Bale-----

Also, more unrealistically, I think this formation would work really well for Spurs:

-----------------Friedel/Lloris----------------
----Caulker------Kaboul----Vertonghen----
Walker-----M'Vila-----Sandro----------Bale
------------------Sigurdsson-----------------
----------Adebayor-------Damiao-----------

Can't believe anybody can be happy with our signings. We've not even really improved. Sigs is basically replacing Modric who is pretty certain to leave, a d Vert has replaced king. We're at this moment weaker in attack, and even if we sign damiao he's by no means guaranteed to score as many as adebayor did last season considering he's only ever played club football in brazil and it'll be his first season. And given how long it's taking, I can't see anyone else of real quality coming in to replace modric if he does go, and he has to go.

Josh

Believable1 Unbelievable1

I agree we haven't really strengthened depth wise, but Siggs isn't a replacement for Ratboy, who has to leave this summer as he will not be so easily forgiven this time around. Siggs and Ratboy are 2 completely different players. As for Big Jan he is defiantly a step in the right direction, big, powerful, quick and strong in the tackle. I feel he will be a big star for us this season.
Without strikers I think our season is going to be long and tough and unfortunately midtable - 6th at best.

THFC4EVER

Agree0 Disagree0

I think he is a replacement for him in the team. He may not have the same role, but avb might have a completely different system that requires a player like sigs, not rat.

Loris was not involved in Lyons first league game today. Is this because the rumours that he is basically a spurs player already might just be true. I for one hope so I fear that brad might have just reached the age where he cannot perform to his usual high standard consistently. We keep hearing that there is a lot going on behind the scenes regarding player acquistions hopefully we are looking at a busy week! I have seen rumours of a bid being made today for m'vila. Surely a striker or two must be in the pipeline. I'm sure mr levy and avb must have a plan in place, ade plus one more hopefully. COYS!!

Believable2 Unbelievable0

City are looking at him

He won't go to city, he will be guaranteed a bench spot. He int gonna dislodge hart.

Reports that we have put a bid in for Yann M'Vila
ou812

Believable2 Unbelievable2

I wont believe it. as a spurs fan as much as i know levy ..

all this m'vila, hulk,.....(the list goes on) are above 20miln+ signings with good 100k per week. no criticism or trash here but simple fact is that levy wont pay that much to A PLAYER...NO ONE.

we are holding off modric potential 30milns.add to it some amount like 10-12miln which levy would consider paying for a good signing..total approx 40mil+. so equation is

a player doesnt wants to play for tottenham + a signing (that levy would do like gilfy. no disrespect here)
= two new good signings..eager n hungry to play for us , win for us.

WHAT ARE WE WAITING FOR..?
