According to Villareal have signed a centre half on loan from Valencia. Could this possibly mean a deal for Musacchio is close? Do you have any news on this at all please Ed's?

have to agree with micky hazard that spurs will never be succesful if they keep selling top players all the time he said if spurs had bale and modric there right now they would be going for the title I think he has a point

If we had Greavsie, Mullery, and one could go on about shoulda coulda's . As could most other teams if we'd kept Bale and Modric we wouldn't have half the squad we have now it's all a balancing/funding gamble. And one never knows who will get injured in the next game - that's why we have fantasy football for all us dreamers.

DR- THFC

I have just caught up with your reply to George and myself. You were right, it was a good read.

My numbers are somewhat lower than yours, but tell a similar story. According to my source, at the start of July our gross spending under Levy was £495m, compared to Chelsea (£763m), Man City (£757m) Liverpool (£530m) Man United (£496m) and Arsenal (£316m). We have been the 5th biggest spenders with an average spend of £38m a year.

Net spending is slightly different: Chelsea (£527m); Man City (£487m); Man United (£248m); Arsenal (£157m) and Spurs (127m). Our net spending is only the 6th biggest with an average of just £9.8m a year.

I think this record is slightly better than you do. We have been able to keep in touch with the gross spending of the other top clubs, but only by selling our best players for big profits. In an ideal world we wouldn't have sold them at all. Nonetheless, our gross spending has been consistent with our recent League position (typically 5th) and our net spending is consistent with our finish last year (6th).

The biggest difference with the other top clubs is that they can attract the very best and can then keep them (although Arsenal has sometimes struggled). We have spent a lot of money, but cannot get the really elite players and if we do unearth top talent then it eventually leaves.

My biggest complaint with Levy (and his Directors of Football) is that they have spent a lot of money just rotating squad players. At times, it has seemed as if buying and selling players was our main business and actually playing football was just a distraction.

Like you, I am not impressed by Levy's treatment of his Managers and Head Coaches. He sacked Jol after two consecutive 5th place finishes and brought in Ramos (a decision cost the club millions). He sacked Harry after finishing 4th, 5th and 4th, AVB after finishing 5th with a record number of points and then Sherwood after a 6th place finish.

I hope we are not about to go through the same thing all over again.

I think the squad is looking pretty good ahead of next season but it seems that yet again we will be left without a quality strike force. Is there any chance with rumours that we are letting a lot of players go, Soldado being among them, that we will be looking to bring in someone up front?

Apparently a few teams have tried getting Soldado on loan.
