So Fulham today in the first home (ish) game of the season.

I would like to see Poch go with an attacking line up today, get an early goal and hopefully go on to win by 2 or 3.

I would go with a back 3, wing backs 1 CDM 3 AM and 1 striker.

Lloris

Toby
Jan
Davison

Aurier - Just let Trippier have an extended rest.
Davis

Dier

Lucas
Eriksen
Alli

Kane

Transfer window has gone let's get behind OUR team.

What are people thoughts on the line up for Wycombe this weekend.

I was thinking that it is a good chance to see the fringe players get a run out. IMO I would change most for this game and just have a couple of 1st teamers on the bench just in case.

Playing a 3-4-3

GK - Lopez (Think it would be interesting to see him in action)

LCB - Davies
CB - Wimmer
RCB - Cart-Vickers

LM - GK N'Koudou
CM - Winks
CM - Dier
RM - Trippier

LCF - Onamah
CF - Janssen
RCF - Sissoko

Subs - Vorm
Alli
Wanyama
Son
Tracey
Walkes
Walker-Peters

Just my thoughts.

Ed002, would a team have to pay both Sassuolo and Juventus for Berardi?

{Ed002's Note - No rayray. Berardi effectively moved this past summer and became fully owned by Sassuolo. There is an option in his contract that will see him, if he agrees, return to Turin next summer at a fixed price (€18M) if not sold in January. Interest from Manchester City and others is long gone and with two difficult issues (a) the reluctance of the player to be transferred away from the comfort of Serie A, and (b) at the ourageous asking price no one was be biting. Sassuolo are keen to sell as they expect to get double what they would from Juventus.}

Its that time of year again when the rumour mill goes crazy and rather than listen to the ridiculous ideas of top internationals that we clearly aren't going to buy I was looking around the Prem to see which players i'd like us to buy that actually might be available and useful to us. Assuming Lloris leaves I would like us to look at Cech or Begovic, both better than Vorm and should be possibilities. i'd love to see Bolasie with us as he has bag of potential, pace to burn and is already better than Townsend and Lamela. Sissoko from Newcastle is their best player by a mile and would add something our midfield currently doesn't have, drive with an end product. Centre half has been a real problem for us Alderwierald is class and may be possible, might even encourage Verts to pull his finger out knuckle down and get on with it, but an outside one Vlaar at Villa is free in the summer and has to be significant improvement on what we have, as would Richards from Man City, although they both have injury concerns. Then it just leaves the forwards where Austin who is already in London shouldn't cost too much as QPR won't even have a pot to piss in following relegation, and Ings who has done well considering who he is playing with. Berahino would also be worth a look but I feel his price tag would be way too high, especially for Levy and he would already come with baggage at the age of 21 which is a worry. what are your thoughts guys?

Strange one mopo, dropping soldado and a winning team, lamela , if tactical can't understand lamela always cuts inside gets caught with ball you want 90 mins not the odd trick . Was feeling optimistic but lamela decision has put an end to that, the team worked well Sunday why change it, they the players earned there places, tinkering Not good, mopo has blind faith in lamela .and no reason for changing It against Chelsea' tactically don't understand .

After last night game, I am seriously looking at sending my season ticket back!.

Yes I know we won, but what an utter shambles. In Davies and Fazio we have wasted nearly £15m, both players are very poor and Fazio is slower then Dawson ever was. I have always liked and defended Lennon but last night showed he only has one foot and that is not fantastic either, Townsend looked ok in small patches as did paulinho. Feel very sorry for the likes of Vertonghen and Soldodo as these 2 are clearly good players playing for a very poor side and I don't think anyone can blame them if they look for a way out in January. People may slate Soldodo but if you attend the games and watch his movement and the runs he makes you can see he has class, unfortunately no one can match that. Thought Kane and Mason changed the game for us last night, a couple of younger players with a bit of passion for the club. Saturday is a massive worry, especially if MoPo brings back Kaboul and Chiriches. For me team on Saturday needs to be:-

Lloris
Naughton Dier Vertonghen Rose
Lamela Capoue Dembele Townsend
Eriksen
Soldodo.

Only reason I've picked Naughton is because I believe that Dier with Vertonghen next to him will be a fantastic CB pairing and Rose because its the lesser of 2 evils.

Bench

Vorm
Lennon
Adebayor
Kaboul
Kane
Chadli
Paulinho

Team Vs Wet Spam

For Me if all fit -

Lloris

Naughton Dyer Vertonghan Davies

Sandro Dembele

Holtby Eriksen Lamela

Soldado

Subs - Vorm, Kaboom, Rose, Lennon, Paulinho, Kane, Ade.

Not a bad first XI or subs bench.

Your thoughts?

Agree0 1Disagree

I would put Ade up top, I just don't think Soldado has done anything in the past year to warrant a start.

I would put Lennon or Townsend on the wing for some pace. Holtby has been good but out of position on the wing would not be great for him I don't think.

I would also like to see Paulinho in there somewhere. I thought he had a not bad season last season, he did have a terrible world cup but I think he still deserves more time. I really dislike Capoue I his ball distribution and offensive awareness are just terrible.

I think I would have Kaboul ahead of Dier, he looks good but still young and inexperienced.

To put Naughton ahead of Walker is just stupidity, playing Holtby in a wide position that requires pace and the ability to beat a man just defies belief and leaves me 1 question. Do you actually watch football?

Honestly what a ridiculous post

{Ed008's Note - Walker is injured so of course Naughton was going to play ahead of him..

Craigh,

Walker is injured, so its a easy choice of naughton playing there! and as for Holtby playing out of position? the 3 behind the front striker all interchange or is it you that has never watched football, also I think you'll find in terms of pace there isn't a lot to choose between Eriksen and Holtby

The team needs width! How many times did we see it last season, we play too narrow and makes it so easy to defend against, we need players who will get down the outside and have the ability to beat a man. As frustrating as they can be at times Lennon and Townsend have that ability and just need to improve on their final ball, Holtby on the other hand I don't believe has the pace or ability to constantly get to the by line.

Ps THFC4EVER I was having a bad day yesterday and didn't meant to cause any offence and I actually read the post wrong, I thought you meant best starting XI in general, so I apologise for that.

Loris

Walker Dier Vertonghen. Davies

Sandro

Dembele. Eriksen

Lennon. Lamela
Soldado

The problem we have is trying to fit players in, we have a pretty decent squad, I think Soldado will come good if the service is provided, Ade comes to deep for me, we want a 6 yard box poacher. I think a 4-1-4-1 could work or do we ideally need 2 DM to cover the backline?

Team for next season?

GK - Lloris
RB - Walker
CB - Mussachio
CB - Vertonghen
LB - Davies
CM - Schneiderlin
CM - Holtby
AMR - Lamela
AMC - Eriksen
AML - Depay
ST - Soldado

Unlikely we will get all 3 of Muss/Schneid/Depay but on paper it looks very nice indeed. Honestly believe Holtby deserves a run in for the new season as his work rate and desire is second to none and also been very impressive in pre-season!

Going into next season as it stands

GK - Lloris, Vorm
RB - Walker, Naughton
LB - Davies, Rose
CB - Vertonghen, Chiriches, Kaboul, Fryers
CM - Sandro, Paulinho, Capoue, Holtby
AMR - Lamela, Lennon
AML - Townsend, Chadli
AMC - Eriksen, Dembele
ST - Soldado, Adebayor, Kane

That is a fairly strong 23 man squad, but think that a new CB would be the only real necessary addition.
I truly believe that Lamela and Soldado will come good under MoPo and that a solid season could be had.
Don't get me wrong, if we pulled of a worldie like Lukaku or Destro or Pato it would be awesome!

just a thought but what would everyones starting 11 be from the last 4 years, mines:
Hugo
Walker King Vertonghan Davies
Sandro Modric
Lamela Vdv Eriksen
Defore
King if fit would have been great, Sandro when fit and in form and Lamela in if he hits form. Dvies is flawed if he dosent sign but he would be better than benny. what's everyones thoughts

Agree0 2Disagree

Best 11 of players from the last 4 years?

Would you really have Lamela over Bale?

21 Jul 2014 21:27:09
All the hype about signing players, we have to be realistic, its going to be hard as we had to much disruption and to many face changes last year , you need premier proven players with experience hard to buy and get, mopo will be concentrating on getting rid of the deadwood and getting a solid back four. A must for success .

We needed a left back, and have a future prospect in Davies, now we need a solid center back with youth and pace although

walker fryers vertonghen Davies?
walker chirches vertonghen Davies?

t could be that fryers shines this year and stands up to the plate maybe current team members who were awful last year will surprise us and be world class under mopo, agree with Davo do not think pauliniho fits into the English game . Would love grizeman or kolopiuyanka, schinerdlin and Lascelles . We will see

My spurs team for the season 14/15:

Lloris
Walker
Chiriches
Vertonghen
Davies

Dembelle
Paulhinio

Lamela
Holtby
Eriksen

Adebayor

Bench: freidel, Rose, lacelles, Townsend, bentaleb, chadli, Kane

I would get rid of Dawson, siggy, naughton, Sandro, capoue, soldado, Lennon for sure and keep hold of the youngster such as:
Carroll
Pritchard
Coulibaly
Coulthrist
Archer
Veljikovic
Fredricks
Oduwa

And see how well those players develop on the big stage.

Agree0 2Disagree

We need a squad of experienced players, not just a first X plus a couple and the rest kids. We would be bottom half if we did that!

13 Jul 2014 12:31:42
Ed's what's the situation with Daley Blind? He would be perfect for Spurs LB deficiency!

Lloris

Vertonghen, Chiriches

Walker, Blind
Paulinho-or-Sandro

Lamela, Eriksen, Draxler

Soldado, Bony

Certainly a possible team for Spurs with only 3 purchases required!

Thoughts?
