Hi ed, any truth in us signing Konoplyanka before the window is over, his contract is up at the end of the season and I also heard jackson martinez will join us in the summer?

{Ed002's Note - Wolfsburg, Roma, Spurs, Shakhtar and Bayer Leverkusen have shown recent interest in Konoplyanka who is able to sign a pre-contract. Spurs will test the waters with a bid for the player to move in January - this may attract bids from others, noticably Roma. Dnipro are happy to let him run down his contract.

Porto are prepared to cash in on Jackson Martinez with varying degrees of interest from Valencia, Inter, Arsenal, Roma, Napoli, Atletico Madrid, Chelsea, Manchester City, Spurs, Galatasaray, Juventus and Barcelona in teh past year. However, whilst Porto will seek his full release clause of 40M euro but would likely need to settle for less (€36M for want of a number). Much will change by the summer.}

Hey eds, are spurs close to completing a deal for this window? A wide player or a central midfielder perhaps?
And any idea where our situation lies regaurding offloading Lennon, kaboul, capoue, ade? Many thanks in advance!

{Ed002's Note - The club would certainly like to move a couple of players or so on - Adebayor and Paulinho are the obvious ones I have mentioned before. Wages make the sale of Adebayor very difficult. There is some interest in Paulinho from Italy - but the price of the player is high. Spurs have spoken to WBA about Berahino and WBA have asked for two players in exchange - and that may still be possible. Lennon has attracted interest from WBA, Hull and QPR and something may yet happen. There is interest Delph - and Aston Villa will encourage Liverpool and Spurs to move now rather than wait until the summer when his contract expires. An offer could still be made for Konoplyanka to test the water but Dnipro will let his contract run down and try to convince him to renew. Spurs could look to a pre-contract. Interest in Andre Ayew, Dele Alli and Rabiot has gone (at least for now). A long way to go yet and do not be surprised if there is a Bacca or Higuain bid in the summer - as a replacement for Soldado. Onazi and Zaza have been looked at and don't discount a bid for Jay Rodriguez when he is fit. Doria was discussed with Spurs but it will go nowhere. Fede Cartabia is a player that Spurs are keeping a watchful eye on - again, perhaps a summer bid.}

Thanks ed!

Eds, rumours regarding bids for central defenders for January seem to have died down is there any January interest? Does it depend on shifting Kaboul or someone do you think?

{Ed002's Note - It is not out of the question that Spurs may look to bringing in a centre back with the club having considered Winston Reid. I am also aware that whilst discussing another player with the club, a representative of Marseille and Spurs discussed N'Koulou.}

So no major moves in jan? Like Depay?

{Ed002's Note - PSV's Memphis Depay has attracted interest from a number of clubs with Manchester City, Real Madrid, Newcastle, Spurs, Marseille and Manchester United looking to see of a deal can be struck this past summer. Marseille signed Batshuayi and dropped their interest in Depay and UEFA sanctions will block any move from Manchester City before next summer. Newcastle and Spurs are known to still keeping an eye on the player with Manchester United and Everton being suggested as possible destinations as well. Someone very knowledgeable about football in the Netherlands has suggested that a move to Newcastle would suit Depay better than the likes of Real Madrid or the Manchester sides as he would need a couple of years to establish himself in the first team and sitting on the bench will not help him at all. He has also advised against a move to Spurs, and his views are well enough thought of to likely remove them from being an option for the player himself.}

Thanks Ed! I'm probably just getting jittery that spurs aren't re enforcing and could throw away their season and not get anywhere!

Ed002, can you elaborate on 'his views' that would make a spurs move unlikely?

We have watched him alot, Paul Mitchell has already watched him twice so there is strong interest.

{Ed002's Note - Spurs are certainly interested but the concern is that it would not help his career if he moved to London. I would think the fear would be that he would languish in the reserves.}

So he can be convinced if promised playtime! Just hoping

Can't promise him first team football if he's not playing well enough though, what kind of message would that send out to the rest of the players? You get time on the pitch by merit alone is a better signal to our players. Will give the youngsters more drive and determination. COYS!
