Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but Modric has gone to Real Madrid.

Meh, better madrid than anywhere else. They'll have overpaid, we won't have to see him in the prem every week, and perhaps the fact that he's not having the team built around him will teach him a lesson in humility when he's on the bench every week
Agree3
Disagree2
Ah well, his departure was inevitable. Still, more funds in exchange to be put to good use in signing two or three players with potential.
Agree2

Aparently the offer is 35 million euros (5million short of what we wanted and they have offered ricardo carvalho.. dear god i hope not. would rather just take the 35 mill.
Agree2
Disagree1
35 million to a team outside the prem is a fantastic deal, we should take it now. Agreed would rather without carvalho though!

Evening All,
Rumour mill in overdrive at the moment.
Modric in Madrid having a medical is getting some serious momentum!
My so called ITK about Remy by 12th July isn't looking too smart at the moment! Two days and counting....

Luka Modric is to remain at Spurs and will sign a new 5 year contract which includes a significant pay raise.
Bids have been made for Adebayor to sign permanently and also Leandro, but these deals are ongoing. Also Jermain Defoe will be staying regardless.
Sebastian Bassong could be set for a move to Liverpool.

Modric and vdv staying according to sky sports, there is a leaked video on newsnow tottenham where the sky sports guy thought he was off air.

I have seen or should I say heard what was said. Some have pointed out that it may well be a recording from this time last year as the context would still fit i.e. VDV and Luka staying with Ade co(ming). Modric to Madrid still seems the most likely thing to happen.

If we can definitely get Moutinho for £25mill or South of that then this would be a great deal IF Modric will not stay. I think that would be enough then at around £28mill and Modric for Sig, Vertonghen, Ade and Dzecko. Plus money in from Charlie, Niko and any of JJ, Bentley, Bassong and Gio on top to balance the books a bit.

Mouthino would be a great signing for us..quality player to replace modric...i would like ade aswell coz he was good for the club last season...but cant see city letting us have dzecko aswell..plus we can get better for cheaper

To get Moutinho, Modric has to go.

Fernando Cavenaghi from River Plate is 90%. I have no details of the fee at all, but part of the double deal is for a younger striker called Bou as well as Cavenaghi, both from River Plate. The details for Bou are not yet final though.
Cavenaghi has experience playing in Europe and has done well for River who have to sell.
Villa Boas is trying to offload two players to fund the majority of the deal, both to clubs outside of the Premier League. There is an urgency to get the deal done because Chelsea are also interested in Bou, but would want to loan him back.
Boas is also looking at a central defender but I have no details on who that is. A colleague of mine has a brother who is well placed at Armour, after leaving Adidas in the Summer and it turns out that Boas wanted these players a year ago but Chelsea did not bid.

Cavenaghi is supposedly a free agent no? why would AVB need to offload players to sign him. He had a good spell at Bordeaux but struggled after injury not sure he's anywhere near the level we need

Cant see this move happening
Agree2

Bou is the expensive part of the deal. It is wages ant not just fees for both players. There is less money at Spurs than you seem to think for Villa Boas to build the side he wants. He never had the players he wanted at Chelsea and look what happened there. He needs to hit the ground running and that means his players playing his system and the influx costs money, but not if he offloads first.

New top story around white hart lane is the possibility of signing Eden dzeko and ade from man city and 16m for sulky modders.

I think the Oscar and damiao has more substance tbh , ganso going internacional apparently and forlan gone I'm hopeful for a double transfer to WHL
Agree4

I would drive him there myself for that. Almost enough money for moutinho too
Agree0
Disagree0
That sounds a good deal get rid of the sulk and replacwe him with better, if he wants to go sod him let him. at least we are getting linked with good players not past their sell buy date, and just interested in one last pay day. mods, off. good he can stand and watch as we go from strength to strength
Agree1

I think you have both been smoking something !
Agree1

Dzeko would never join spurs aren't in the champions league :)
Agree4

We know modric is going one way or another if we could do that deal then use the cash towards moutinho we would come out of the modric deal with a better squad than before would be very happy although i think ade will come dont think dzecko will mattyid

Spurs are putting in a bid for bothLloris and Butland with Butland going out on loan until the end of next season when Friedels contact is up.
Also aparently spurs are battling with Chelsea for Lewandowski who would be amazing for us although can see him going to a bigger club. Finally with Forlan going to Damiaos club he might be leaving and his destination would be Europe with us in pole position to sign him

Does anyone else think that the appointment of luis martins has increased the likelihood of joao moutinho joining this summer? He was his youth team coach at sporting lisbon and the statement on the club website explicitly mentions his role in the development of moutinho.
Believable4
Unbelievable2
In my opinion, I think that transfer is nailed on
Agree3

Does appear from the outside that AVB is going to build his axis around Moutinho instead of Modric ...but someone has to meet Levy's asking price first ...though the idea of Modric and Moutinho alongside each other in midfield is mouth watering.
Agree2
Disagree0
Would love this. Hope it's enough to convince him to come to us over Man Utd... Although isn't Kagawa similar player?
Agree0
Disagree2
I'd second that! What are your thoughts Ed? {Ed008's Note - Moutinho is a fantasic player in my opinion and will bring creativity to the midfield i think he's better than Modric but that's me. If he signs for Spurs which is possible it would be signing of the season for me.

Moutihno would be a good replacement for modric but who will create play when van der vaart leaves ? huddelstone i don't think so

I know the reports on Junior Hoilett have gone a little cold. There were strong indications that he was coming to SPurs months ago but now it appears he might be moving to Germany. Does anyone have any info on this?
