Ed, do you think spurs will be intererted in Toby and Eriksen again {Ed002's Note - TA looks like he is heading elsewhere. Eriksen maybe.}

Would love to see both Ajax guys re-united with Vertonghen. Personally, I think Alderweireld would be at the very least, a decent stop gap for Kaboul. On the other hand, having watched Eriksen closely in Man City's group of death in the Champions League last season, I have to say I'd be delighted to see him orchestrating things for us as a #10. Super player and at the likely price of about £12m given his contract status, we should definitely be in there for him. If we got these two, I'd be pretty damned ecstatic with the transfer window. And that's not even counting whether or not Bale stays. But being greedy, maybe one more striker might be nice. Thought we would make a move on Remy, but I see the Toon have all but wrapped that one up as we speak.

I am totally amazed that all the major clubs haven't been lining up to sign Eriksen. He is a much better version of Luka Modric, with genuine two footed ability, superb vision and dazzling skill. He creates everything for Ajax by scoring goals for fun and finding the last touch to the striker. With 10 goals and a further 17 assists in 33 games is simply outstanding, and having him at spurs would revolutionise the attacking flair of the side.

If the rumours are true around £10m, and he would come to spurs, then I cannot see why we would be moving in for the kill. We have failed to replace Modric and have looked flat since his departure, and yet here is potentially the best creative midfielder of the future and we are failing to seize the day.

I can only think that Liverpool or AC Milan have already agreed a deal behind closed doors, as it simply doesn't make sense not to be fighting for his signature.

Toby Alderweireld looks set to join Norwich which gives me some doubt about how good he is. I am sure he would jump at the chance to sign for Spurs if offered the chance, and could cover RCB and RB which would give us more depth. I can only assume that AVB doesn't think he is good enough.

In summary I doubt we will get either, but I fear we have missed a world class star in Eriksen.

Mmmm, 10 in 33 in the Dutch league is hardly scoring goals for fun! I would agree that he is top class though and would be a fantastic addition to the squad. Given his price as well, I cannot believe Spurs aren't all over this one like a rash!

Agree2 Disagree5

Are you serious, he has created or scored 27 goals in 33 games from MIDFIELD?

He is as good as it gets and you would do well to have a closer look at Dutch football. Ajax, PSV Eindhoven, Feyenoord, FC Twente, AZ Alkmaar are very good teams. Then even teams like Vitesse Arnhem, Herenveen, Utrect, Gronigen, Nijmegan and Breda are half decent as well.

Players like Eriksen, Fisher, Alderweireld, Krkic, Maher, Jordie Clasie, Bruno Martins, de Vrij are examples of how they nurture youth talent better than any other league in the world.

They haven't got the mega millions of England, Spain, Italy, Germany and now France, but they still compete well in European Champions League and cups where they meet clubs with 10 times their value.

Erediste or Premiership, trust me 27 goals created from one player in 33 games is great going.

I am serious, your words were SCORING goals for fun and a tally of 10 is not scoring for fun! His assist tally however combined with the goals is very impressive. Although there are some decent teams in the Dutch league I think the general consensus is that it isn't amongst the best leagues in Europe, no?

Agree3 Disagree2

Eriksen is a midfielder though, so that is a good goal ratio.

Agree3 Disagree0

Agreed, not too shabby for a midfielder but I wouldn't say he scores goals for fun, perhaps a little bit of an exaggeration that. A class player though which no one can doubt!

Agree0 Disagree2

It never ceases to amaze me how people find a negative from a positive. Eriksen is amazing and the term 'scoring for fun' echoes his seemingly effortless abilities. Why one tries to be pedantic and pessimistic is simply mystifying.

Agree1 Disagree0

Maybe I was being a little pedantic but you really don't need to be mystified, that seems a little extreme! I also can't remember being negative in my assertions of CE's abilities. I guess the term means different things to different people, to me it refers to people who score ridiculous amounts of goals a la Messi, Ronaldo etc. Apologies on my part for picking holes in your post!

Do any of the eds no if we are still interested in signing Christian Eriksen and Mirko Vucinic?

I know there has been interest in both in the past and with Eriksen's deal running out next summer and Vucinic's chances at Juve limited by the arrivals of Tevez and Llorente, I was wondering whether we might take a look.

I reckon Vucinic's ability to play across the front 3 and provide the intelligence and ingenuity around the box that we have missed since VDV left would be a great asset. Plus, I'd assume he'd be available at a reasonable price (maybe 10-15 mil).

On Eriksen: realistically we are not going to replace Bale like for like (the closest I can think of are Lamela at Roma and Griezmann at Sociedad, but Lamela's price tag seems extortionate and can't see Griezmann leaving with Sociedad in Champs League this year). Hence, Eriksen would be a great addition, giving us qualities that, despite all his brilliance, Bale lacked (vision, the ability to pick a pass through a defence). He should cost around 15-20 mil and could play compete for the middle 3 positions with Sandro, Dembele, Paulinho and Holtby, while also playing in the front 3, particularly off the left.

Sign those 2 plus a CB (Alderweild, Chiriches, Williams?) and possibly a LB (although I think Rose and BAE are good enough for Prem and Europa) with the Bale cash and we will be in decent shape for another strong season. {Ed002's Note - Nobody has made an acceptable offer for CE but Milan has agreed terms with his agent. Vucinic is likely to be of interest to Napoli if Martinez falls through.}
