IMO we can not refuse anything over£80 million. If Bale had a moderate season or got injured his value would drop like a stone. I would love to get£51 million plus Di Maria and Contreau. That would mean Paulhino/Chadli/Soldado/DiMaria and Contreau plus £1 million for Bale. That is a no brainier.

The Don

Believable14 Unbelievable11

Only problem with that is, we no longer have Bale which in turn means we are again going to have to settle for 5th. Pauliniho, Chadli, Soldado and keep Bale and we could genuinely be top 3 next year.

Agree13 Disagree15

We have to take that kind of money for Bale now, I believe that if we can get those two players as well plus chuck a bid at Man City for Dzeko our squad would be much stronger than last year with great cover in every position. Don't get me wrong I think Bale is great and would hate to see him leave but I did get bored of relying on him towards the end of last season and this gives us the chance of a balanced and great squad.

Paulihno and chadli will give us more balance without selling bale and with the possibility of soldado, what more do you want?

Agree9 Disagree3

Do you really believe changing half of our first team is going to be the best thing for Spurs? Personally I think that would mean another slow start to the season.

Agree4 Disagree1

Personally I would be incredibly happy if we kept bale, signed soldado and got rid of a bit of deadwood. Having said that if we could get do Maria and coantro I wouldn't be too disappointed, soldado is the key.

just a thought

soldado defoe

so if bale went would this not be a balanced strong team that could challenge. Looks good to me. Sorry for spellings. Any thoughts?

Agree4 Disagree4

We wouldn't be able to change our team anyhow as no player would trust us. Remember both AVB and Paulinho were given assurances that Bale would not be leaving. To sell him a month later, no matter the price, would devastate our development.

There's more to building a team than money.

Graham hunter has just said that spurs have agreed to pay the full amount of 30 million euros for soldado, no add-ons, no incentives as long as spurs pay 15 million now and the other 15 million within a year. Valencia are going on pre-season tomorrow so expect a deal to be announced within the next 24 hours. {Ed008's Note -

Believable11 Unbelievable1

Except that we appear to want to pay over a longer period with more payments than just 2.

Agree4 Disagree4

Graham hunter is spokesman /journo for marca.

Agree4 Disagree4

I actually think graham hunter is very reliable if he did in fact say that.

reports from spain say the soldado deal is done for 30m euros.

Believable4 Unbelievable3

It looks like Soldado could happen according to reports from Sky, talksport, ESPN etc etc, also on another note i'm getting that feeling Real Madrid will get Bale for around 100 million pounds which is great business for Spurs, if I was dealing with the transfer i'd demand 65 mill + Contereau, De Maria and Jese Rodigues.

read in paper RM offering 91million for bale, this consists of 51million cash plusdi maria and contrao. we should tell RM to stuff it 91 million cash and no RM cast-offs. {Ed008's Note - To be fair Coentrao and Di Maria are quality players I'd accept the bid if the players were willing to accept lesser wages and no CL football which seems unlikely..

Believable11 Unbelievable2

Im hearing gareth is distrought, I guess earning a hundred grand a week having a healthy happy family and playing for a club that made him who he is must b really sad. i'm disabled live on a pittance, save what I can to travel from the isle of wight to watch players who love the club and pi. of a few weeks later well gareth, if u want to go, then go. players, managers even owners come and go we the fans r the real heroes spurs for ever not i'm sodding off cause another team are doing better, once a person always a yid. barb

Agree19 Disagree3

I don't think any rational person would turn down 50m and those 2 players. But we are fans and that is an emotional relationship, for the most part. Do I want Bale to leave no. would I accept 50m and those 2 players - Yes.

Agree12 Disagree1

Bale has given everything he had last season, and was quoted as saying he wants Spurs to progress to Champs League this year. All the rest is paper talk. Why would 'fans' turn on their own players based on speculation. Support Bale and support Spurs. it's going to be a great season!

Levy does what is best for the club, and invests wisely - new stadium, great infrastructure, and building a great team of youngsters. Get behind the club!

DT.

Agree20 Disagree1

Well said DT. Too many spurs fans slating bale when he has done nothing. Remember how patient he was on the bench years ago and was getting stick because we could not win with him in the team. He has been very loyal to the club since he joined. It is disgusting to hear some fans talk the way they do about him. Get behind him and the team and shut up!!

Agree11 Disagree0

If the rumours are true then every Spurs fan should be crossing everything to hope this happens. Bale is undoubtedly a world class player, but make no mistake Di Maria & Coentrao are world class in their own right.

Di Maria is in my opinion the most under rated player in the world. He is simply sensational, and is the best passer of the ball I have ever had the pleasure of watching. He will be a massive upgrade on Aaron Lennon, and having Lennon as a squad player will terrify teams in the closing stages if he is used with fresh legs.

Coentrao is probably the best LB in the world at the moment, as father time catches up with the legends of yesteryear. He will make BAE look very average and totally transform the team with his surging runs down the left flank.

I have felt that Dembele is lost in the deeper role, and Bale leaving will allow this world class player to play in the centre behind a world class striker in Soldado.

Those of you who doubt this deal, just stop for a moment and imagine this team next year.

GK - Lloris
LB - Coentrao
CB - Vertonghen
CB - Kaboul
RB - Walker
CDM - Sandro
CM - Paulinho
LM - Chadli
CAM - Dembele
RM - Di Maria
CF - Soldado

That team spanks Spurs of last season with ease. and imagine our depth with players like Gomes, Freidel, Dawson, Caulker, BAE, Rose, Naughton, Sigurdson, Holtby, Livermore, Carroll, Townsend, Lennon, Dempsey, Defoe.

Smells like Parker, Huddlestone and Adebayor have already left the building.

Soooooooooooooo excited, don't mess this one up Levy please.

Agree9 Disagree4

I really don't rate Coentrao since he joined Real Madrid. Would rather have Rose.

Agree2 Disagree13

Bale could have moved for the last 2 years if he wanted to, clubs were always interested but he stayed without CL football. Some people really are ungreatful, a player wants the best career he can have and to be happy, deal with it.

Agree6 Disagree3

All good and well if the players want to join. Di Maria as you say is world class, would he not want to be playing CL football? Same with Coentrao, best LB in the world and not in CL, makes no sense.

IMO if these players were offered they would delay the deal to see if another team is interested. Then we'd end up with a Levy special on deadline day, as a replacement for Bale.

Agree3 Disagree3

I'm sure Southampton made Gareth bale

Agree5 Disagree8

If Bale goes then expect Levy to get cash not players. Why would we want two players who may lack desire as they know they would be moving to a club with less desire. RM refused to sell CR & if we sell Bale then we are just admitting defeat. couldn't afford their wages either. Realistically I would rather have the £80+mill & try for Bernard & Dzeko.

Agree4 Disagree3

We can't afford DiMaria and Coentrao although I see no reason for them to stay at Madrid. it's all very well playing for a Champions League team but what about when you don't play in the Champions League and your biggest game of the year is as Bilbao or Espanol. I'd rather take straight cash and invest as we see fit -- hear Pastore from PSG might be a possibility. Would love the kid Lamela from Roma.

Agree0 Disagree4

Di Maria would be an amazing replacement. AVB could get him back to his best which is hot but I fear he would not want to come to tottenham, no champions league. Him and contreao + money would have been a good deal. I can't see either agreeing unfortunately.

Marc

Agree2 Disagree2

There are many players that Real Madrid has over looked who are brilliant.

Diarra, Gago, Canales, Van Der Vaart, Huntelaar, Sniejder, Heinze, Baptista, Robinho, Ronaldo & Beckham were all sold by Real Madrid.

They have many players in each position, and Coentrao could easily find his way back to the bench if Arbeloa, Nacho or Marcelo return to favour. DiMaria is forever fighting for his place against Ronaldo, Ozil, Benzema, Modric, Kaka and Callejon, not to mention Bale if he joins.

If Real Madrid sign the players they are rumoured to be after, I doubt Coentrao or DiMaria will get many games. Aguerro, Bale, Suarez looking like the three targets to add to the players already signed in Illarramendi, Casemiro, Isco and Carvajal.

I would be amazed if Di Maria and Coentrao didn't leave, and why not join spurs if we sign Soldado. Perhaps we can get Dzeko as well if Bale goes and then I challenge anyone to doubt our ability to win the league.
