Sky have suspended betting on Griezmann joining athletico Madrid, another one bites the dust. Eds will he be joining athletico?

Believable5 Unbelievable1

{Ed001's Note - he has an offer on the table from them, they have met the asking price, but it is not done yet. He could still turn them down, though it does seem unlikely right now, he does know about other interest. It just comes down to if he thinks this is the best he is going to get, and Atleti are the reigning champions there.}

Absolutely gutted if this is true.
Was looking forward to him becoming a spurs player.

Hopefully he will prefer the premiership over la liga. Konoplyanka could be an option.

Griezmann to Athletico, Origi to Liverpool, lukaku looking certain for Everton, schniederlin most likely to Assernal. C'mon spurs what are you doing? You're killing me here! all this quality talent getting snapped up by our competition.
Eds can you tell me if there is any truth in the Micah Richards rumours?
Hoping you can also tell me the lukaku to Everton rumours are just that, rumours! Thanks

{Ed002's Note - I have no idea what MR rumours you are referring too. Try the Chelsea page for information on Lukaku.}

Hi ed 001, I wanted to know your take on the griezman rumours. I believe they are fairly solid. Pair that with your post below that poch is neither impressed with chadli or Townsend and I believe this is an area he will strengthen.

Also are we going to make an effort to sign shneiderlin in your opinion and what defenders will we move for
Sorry about the plethora of questions but your assistance is appreciated. Thanks.

{Ed001's Note - Spurs have made an attempt to sign Griezmann, he is Poch's choice and he is very keen. So it is now up to the club to back him and bring Griezmann in. They certainly made an offer, but so far no deal has been done, and there is Atletico Madrid to compete with. Poch is desperate to add a forward, who can also play wide, similar to the way he employed Rodriguez at Southampton.

Schneiderlin is a target, unfortunately I am told he is keen on Arsenal, who are also interested. They have been putting in groundwork for years, but you do have Poch, so it is not certain which way he will lean. He is very much expected to ask for a move from Southampton though, so it is likely to be a straight fight between the two of you.

Lovren was Poch's first choice, but he was set on Liverpool, and should be done and announced at some point next week. I am told he was also keen on Mathieu, but he was only interested in joining Barca. There was no interest in Caulker, though reps of his did contact Spurs looking for a return, as he was desperate to avoid a season in the Championship. I am not sure about the chances of getting him but Poch is keen on Isimat-Mirin of Monaco (oh and he apparently likes a young forward from them as well called Anthony Martial, I know nothing about him other than him being only 18 or 19 though.). N'Koulou of Marseille is another name put forward, but I would think him unlikely as they have very few centre backs there. Though with Bielsa in charge they don't really need many defenders! There is also a centre back from Porto that is of interest, but I have no idea who that is, I wasn't able to get a name on that one. I am assuming it is not Mangala though, as he seems to be set for Man City.}

So ed just to be certain, you think griezman may well join instead of choosing Athletico. Levy might want to consider upping his wages!

Agree2 Disagree2

{Ed001's Note - I do think it is not out of the question, purely because Atletico are not going to be challenging again this season, in most people's eyes.}

I suppose they're a slightly less messed up Southampton aren't they. If we want him that badly I'm sure we'll act fast like we did with Davies (because Liverpool apparently put in a bid) but this is levy we're talking about.

Edds, are you hearing anything about a swap deal, paulinho for lukaku? Few poor gossip site are running a story saying the deal is close and could happen in next few days! Just wondered if you'd come across the same rumours?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - no sorry, though I do expect Paulinho will be moved on as Poch wasn't keen on him through his analysis of his performances and the way he plays. Apparently he doesn't move the ball on quickly enough, Poch likes the ball to be moved around much faster than he does. Not sure if he has any interest in Lukaku though, as that is not a name that has ever been mentioned to me.}

Cheers edd1

Agree0 Disagree2

{Ed001's Note - I am of the opinion that Griezmann is the likely attacker to join.}

Hi Ed's if a move for Schneidlelin (spelling) is made, who is the most likely CM to depart in your opinion based on what you've heard?

Also do you know if there is any truth in the media reports regarding Holtby going out on loan?

thanks one again.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - Poch seems quite keen on Holtby, he likes his energy apparently, so he has the preseason to convince him. Though he may decide to get himself a move, as his agent is setting up options for him ready. So it comes down to him feeling it is worth staying and fighting.

From what I am told Poch wanted to give the players at the club the chance to impress before shipping them out, but he was apparently not impressed with Chadli, Townsend, Rose, Soldado and Paulinho before his arrival. They were the ones he apparently felt wouldn't suit his system. Chadli was apparently felt to be a bit lazy in his passing and movement, Paulinho was dwelling on the ball too much etc. But he wanted to check and see who would listen in training and take on board what he wanted them to do. I really am not sure yet who has impressed him and who has reinforced his opinions etc. But this is why there was so much of a hold up on shipping players out, he was giving them a chance first.}

Thanks Ed001 for that informative reply, appreciate it.
