anyone know what's happening on the Dawson situation? Was at lane today. Is he coming or going?
McYid

Believable1 Unbelievable1

As it stands, he is staying. He wants to fight for his place and I hope he succeeds.

foxspur

Agree9 Disagree1

Thanks mate. The reported £10m is a great price for an injury prone defender pushing 30. But he is Mr Tottenham Hotspur and i hope he stays.
McYid

Agree5 Disagree1

Agree mate £10 mill is excellent value considering but do we ever actually use the money we get for players to buy better ones? We must have shed loads available from the players we have sold in the past but we still go by, one out first before one comes in.

Why don't we buy quality they try get rid? Modric is a perfect example. We need to sell him before we buy his replacement..

foxspur

Agree1 Disagree1

Since when is 28 pushing 30?

Agree0 Disagree0

He's injury prone, central defender with knee injury, sound familiar! Get rid and cash in, he never was all that to be fair

Don't know why everyone is panicking so much about the striker situation. Yes, it would be great to have world class centre forward but there are hardly any out there that we could realistically purchase. Last season Ade basically played everygame and we finished 4th, so saying we will struggle big time without a new striker isn't right at all. More creativity in midfield must be the priority, we need more options and more intelligent movement. A Modric replacement (Dembele proved again today that he is class and in our price range) and another versatile attacking midfielder (Willian, Sessegnon, Ramirez). Today we had to stretch the game in order to provide a threat and it left us vulnerable at the back; we need to get back to the control and creativity we had with Modric, Parker and VDV in the middle. By friday our front 6 could be:
Dembele-Sandro-Willian-Siggs-Bale-Ade. IMO thats a definite top 4 line up. Two signings is all we need, and I expect Levy to deliver two of the names I've given above. COYS.

Believable6 Unbelievable7

Your forgetting Ade will be going to the ACN so what will we do then? I certainly don't want Defoe leading the line!

Agree7 Disagree2

IF we sign them I will not be panicking as much but that's IF. Sorry but to not have another striker of the lone-man ilk will be suicide. Ade will not play every game and when he doesn't we will have to change because Defoe or Kane can't do the same. Without a new creative midfielder they'll be feeding off scraps too often. And don't people realise we're going to be 10-15 players less and have signed 2 and re-signed Ade...we are playing Europa League and don't have much of a second string, not enough numbers so Thursday/Sunday is going to screw us. Said we had to plfirths the start of the season and not the end of the window and here we are, 1pt from 6.
Simmo

Agree3 Disagree1

Also what happens if Ade got injured? We showed last year that we don't have strength in depth and although I think our first 11 is top 4 a couple of injuries and we're in trouble.

With 1 up front we need both to stretch the game with pace and have a powerhouse up front. Defoe is a good player but he cannot play this system - the defence will drop and then he has to play with his back to goal. An injury to wither Bale or Lennon leaves us short of pace wide and that would allow the oppo FBs to tuck in and the CBs to get closer which would force Ade to have to run the channels to find space rather than marauding the box.

Arsenal may be weaker this year than last but Chelsea and Newcastle are stronger and we're alredy 4pts down vs the same fixtures last year. This is why we're looking for signings that can cement the good work that has been done the last few years.

Wulf.

Agree2 Disagree1

Never mind the rest just go and get dembele!!

Agree6 Disagree0

We al knew last year that Dembele was class. We should have signed him. Now Madrid/United are interested so the price rockets. Stupid. Same story with Damaio. We offer small money for the last two years when it was obvious that he was a star of the future. now his value has quadrupled and we are still farting around offering small money that will never be accepted. Oh the frusteration of being a Spurs fan.

the Don

Agree6 Disagree0

I agree, just got to get dembele he was so good today!

Agree0 Disagree1

I thought ade had retired from int football??

Rufus

Agree0 Disagree0

He did but then made himself available again. It's ok, we have Defoe and Kane. Joke

Agree0 Disagree1

He did then changed his mind

Agree0 Disagree0

He did retire .... But last year I believe around Xmas but too late for the ACN or because Togo wasn't in it I cant remember
He stated he would play again ... I think he un retired in other words

Agree1 Disagree1

Arsenal may be weaker this year than last but Chelsea and Newcastle are stronger and we're alredy 4pts down vs the same fixtures last year. This is why we're looking for signings that can cement the good work that has been done the last few years.

Wulf.

Did You forget we Lost the 1st 2 games last season and conceeded 8 goals how are we 4 points down on last season...

Agree0 Disagree0

Dembele is NOT world class! He plays for fulham for god sake! If he was the class chelsea, city or united would snap him up! Wake up

Agree1 Disagree3

What the hell has the fact he is playing for Fulham got to do with anything? so playing in a mid table team and getting rave reviews doesn't make him class? I would have thought the opposite logic would apply?? UTD and RM have shown interest plus i will have a little bet he ends up at a top club plus the doubters will go quite... He is quality end of!

Don't be downhearted folks, only two games gone, its not the end of the world.
My team had a really bad start to last season, but they finished third, and got a CL spot.Brilliant!

Lanesra

Believable9 Unbelievable4

A home non goal scoring draw to Sunderland is nothing to chirp about.
How many goals you scored this season?
Podolski,giroud,chamakh,gervinho.
Quality there son LMFAO

Agree1 Disagree7

Why do stupid gooners keep coming onto spurs pages?Nothing better to do?

Agree4 Disagree4

I wasn't chirping about our game at home to Sunderland,I was just saying that after two games, you shouldn't be moaning, but then again being a spud you are only happy when you have something to moan about.

Lanesra

Agree4 Disagree0

See in all honesty I don't think he was tryin to be malicious with his comment ...
Other than the rubbing it in a bit with the CL and 3rd bit ...

Agree2 Disagree0

Thats right mate, its only a bit of rivalry banter.
Lanesra

Agree2 Disagree0

To the spud who listed Chamakh as a striker.that really hurts.
Lanesra

Agree0 Disagree1

Being a spurs fan can I just say that gooners like lanesra are welcome, good banter, like his post about chamakh is always welcome. Keep posting lanesra, as long as it's funny!

Spurs Media - Talk Sport - AVB says no new striker will be signed, what the fu'k are Levy and AVB on!

Believable7 Unbelievable1

I told r lass am not going out tomorrow but I am! You tell people what they need to know. Trust me we ain't finished in the transfer window!

Agree5 Disagree2

If we don't sign an all out goal scorer and modrat replacement, after what I saw today. . . AVB will be out by xmas! ! !

Agree6 Disagree1

And it may well not have been AVB's fault !!

Agree1 Disagree1

Y has every got it in for avb u say its tight a..e levy who wont spend then blame avb. give the fella a brake

Agree1 Disagree1

Avb has had 2 games ade werent match fit defoe cannot play up top alone he does not create for others and to small to hold ball up im sure avb knows this and is on the case for another striker before people moan about avb give him a chance i remember when harry first came he played keane and defoe together at times he soon learned that this was a losing formula which resulted in keane leaving and getting crouch we are missing a striker and midfielder which im sure will get ressolved this week we played better in the opening 2 games this year than last year everyone needs to get of avbs back
mattb

Agree1 Disagree0

Looking like an awful appointment of AVB. Will do well to finish 10th. No ambition or imagination used by the board

Agree0 Disagree2

You a Gooner or just a whinger? Two games gone and the bottle jobs are coming out of the woodwork!! Lets not forget that the Gooners havent started brilliantly, nor Utd and the season is not a f*****g sprint, its a marathon. Our catastrphic ponts dropping and the Gooners monumental points gaining last season proves that. Stop f*****g moaning and get behind the team and manager, christ, the journos are already trying to stir the sh*t and some of you are doing your best to help them.Well done you saps! We have played two games and played well, its not like we have sudeenly got sh*t is it!! More signings to come this week, have the faith!

After watching today's match, their is no doubting that we need somebody who can consistently score for us. Please Mr. Levy, get us a world class striker before the end of the window.

Believable8 Unbelievable4

And in avbs post match interview on ts.
'we won't be signing another striker'
I hope it's all smoke screen.

Agree0 Disagree3

Pull up or get out Levy. AVB takes Defoe off for Jenas?? Did he take a knock? (AVB ha ha)

Agree4 Disagree3

No, we were getting overrun with our 4-4-2. Put another striker on to score and then had to go back to 4-5-1 - we only had Jenas as a box-to-box option.

Agree1 Disagree0

See if this was redknapp his game plan would have been stick Defoe on around the 20th minute mark and perhaps swap siggs for vaart and just hope for the best ... This and it's a weak example as most people would realise the tactics AvB had to use in the game to get a goal and susses that we were getting caught out

Agree0 Disagree1

HR at least would of played the stronger team from the start and not have to change it against a team like West Brom...

At the game right now and have just heard some guys behind me in the stand saying that willian will be signing for us over the weekend, monday at the latest and that he is at the ground today.

Believable3 Unbelievable11

If ur at the match why would u bother going on this? Would wait till got home! also its rude to listen to other peoples conversations.

Haymaker

Agree12 Disagree4

Especially when you listen to crap!

Agree1 Disagree0

Don't see the point. Wiliian is an attacking midfielder who typically plays as a wide player (on the left, I believe?)
Long-term Bale replacement. Levy - just go and get Moutinho!

Agree2 Disagree1

25 Aug 2012 14:11:50
Vdv and Defoe start. Siggs and ade on bench.
I gotta feeling he has started vdv to calm the transfer speculation down.
Gallas and Verts in defence. Livermore starts again.

Believable1 Unbelievable2

Still don't think that is enough fire power up front.
Feel sorry for reading fans today. Travel to Sunderland. Game off. Waterlogged pitch.
In August, bit of a joke really.
They should if spent some of that Johnson fee on better drainage.

Agree6 Disagree2

The way AVB lines his teams up, even at home, look like both Parker and sandro will play, when fit. If we sign a better keeper our first choice back 1-4-2 looks very strong defensively. We are only one strong attacking away from a very very good first 11.

Agree0 Disagree2

Sorry , but not parker and Sandro together , wont work , bit like lampard and gerrard !!

Tottenham hope to complete the £20m signing of Wilian soon.

RtheYID

Believable2 Unbelievable4

I'm glad you read a website 5 days ago for me.

Agree5 Disagree1

Scandinavian papers are saying that Willian, Damiao and a israeli player is going to spurs

Agree6 Disagree1

On ssn that he feels hes earned a move to spurs so hopefully shaktar lets him leave , there not short of money tho

Agree3 Disagree1

German papers confirm the same players.

Agree3 Disagree1

If shahktar want to be funny they just hold out till sept 1st and we cant sign him anyway

Agree2 Disagree0

Yep - that's how a transfer window works...

Agree1 Disagree1

Nir Biton willian and hopefully damaio

spurs made bid for m'vila the bid got accepted but m'vila has turned it down he wants arsenal move. arsenal are currently in talks with rennes & arsenal want value for their money but rennes are firm on £15m price. spurs could still get him if arsenal pull out due to price.

Believable0 Unbelievable8

Do we really want someone who turned us down to play for the goobers?? I certainly dont!

Agree10 Disagree1

Do we want a £15m midfielder who isn't more creative? Pointless!

Going down the Lane today will be leaving shortly, but have just heard some interesting rumours from a friend of mine who works at the lane in a receptionist capacity, as I have said before, (for those of you who read my posts) I have been told that 3 players registration forms have been transferred to tottenham, I have no names unfortuantely but have been assured that 2 of these players we have been chasing for a while, the other is relatively unknown but a promising star of the future all of which will be announced on Tues/Weds. On future transfer dealing, should this info be true, I would like to see a bid made for Dembele of Fulham looks a real good player who would IMO be a perfect replacement for Modrat. I have a few friends who are Fulham fans and they say he is the next big thing once he joins a team in the public eye.
Don't shoot the messager guys just passing on the little info I get and my opinions as well.
See you at todays game, Spurs 2-0 WBA
Ade with em both!!!

THFC4EVER

Believable9 Unbelievable5

THFC4EVER, hope your source is good as it would really cheer me up! I'm thinking and this is only going off what you have said.(Y-Mvilla, Willian and Dempsey). As the other targets seem to not want to join for various reasons.

Ideally I would love to see (Moutinho-too expensive, KJH-good value and quality, and finally Berbatov- so I can see him warm our bench for the season for leaving us lol

Agree2 Disagree1

Rumours suggest these three are Willian, Moutinho and Niang as the youngster, would be great if that happened! Doubt it though

Agree6 Disagree1

I think Willian, moutinho and isco. I hope it is these three

Agree2 Disagree3

Niang seems to agreed to join everton!

Agree4 Disagree1

Dembele looks a great prospect to me, glides past players, some lovely passing, still needs to step on a bit so I wonder how much? £12/13m would be fine and should go for it rather than all this £15m M'Vila talk.

Agree3 Disagree2

Israeli player is Nir Biton, surely?

Just wondering if anybody knows what is happening with llorente, it's just that the papers are saying that a deal with Juventus has fallen through. As all Spurs fans I live in hope.
Dave

Believable5 Unbelievable0

I have also heard his transfer has fallen through, but still not sure he will be coming to us as he really wants CL football. But you never know.

THFC4EVER

Agree0 Disagree0

Surely we have at least inquired about him? £16m a steal, would have to be a high wage but what a signing at that price. {Ed008's Note - Bilbao want the buyout clause to be paid Juventus want to pay up to 20-22m it'll drag on till deadline day.

Agree0 Disagree0

Would love to see Llorente at the Lane, but the La Liga show on a website the other night suggested that he was playing a game and he was really looking to stay at Bilbao until January, when he can take his pick between Real and Barca. If that is true, and even if we could persuade him to come, then we might have another Modric situation in the making. Still, excellent player and IMO, a better option than the Damiao hallucination that people keep clinging to!

Agree0 Disagree0

I would love to see Llorente and KJH at the lane, that is my dream..

foxspur

Agree2 Disagree1

According to AS Llorente is asking Bilbao's president to accept Juve's offer-no mention of us

Ed, any thoughts on the pic doing the twitter rounds today? Could it be Yann M'vila or Mbaye Niang?

http://t.co/81TqEXow {Ed008's Note - Defo not M'Vila, I can't really tell as the picture ain't the best.

Believable2 Unbelievable3

Mbaye Niang is on trial at Everton...

foxspur

Agree0 Disagree0

Niang has signed for everton for na paltry 2m. dont know why we were not in for him.
shorty

Agree0 Disagree0

Def not Niang, he has signed for Everton, £2m reported fee, another Moyes master stroke, IMO this lad is gonna be extremely good, Don't think its M'vila or Willian either but pic ain't that good.

THFC4EVER

Agree0 Disagree1

Seen someone suggest it's Silvestre Varela. It looks like him but seems like it would be a very odd signing, so I doubt it.

Agree0 Disagree0

Could this picture by any chance be photo shopped with our grounds and badge etc ? Or is this real and a real player has turned up ? This photo could be very misleading

Agree0 Disagree1

25 Aug 2012 00:51:38
William will put pen to paper Monday/Tuesday

Believable5 Unbelievable3

Would rather get Moutinho.

Agree2 Disagree1

According to media reports the 2 clubs are far apart on the transfer fee typical levy style trying to bring the fee down willans team want 20 mill wouldnt surprise me if levy had offered 12/13 mill this wont be settled until the last couple of days of the transfer window

Agree3 Disagree0

Why not Willian and Moutinho.
Attacking Midfielder who can play across the park and a DM to fill Modrat boots, although would personally rather have Dembele from fulham, better price and proved in the EPL

THFC4EVER

Agree1 Disagree0

I'm liking that idea THFC, that would give us so many options it would be scary :-)

foxspur {Ed008's Note - Be realistic only gonna happen on a game like Football Manager... One or the other it looks like.

Agree0 Disagree1

I agree ED but I haven't slept for 48 hours been a long few days so not quite with it lol...My money would be on Willian as the more affordable option.
