Mirror reporting we've made a £10 mil offer for joe allen, do any of the eds know anything about any interest? IMO he has the potential to be a really good little player, and his fee would allow us to pursue forwards, which we desperately need. {Ed001's Note - there was a lot of talk that Spurs were the club that made the initial bid for him, which triggered the clause allowing Liverpool to move for him. But seeing as it is the Mirror reporting, I am dubious about the truth of the talk!}

Believable4 Unbelievable3

Really hope this is true (well documented I'm a fan of his by now). If we got our asking price for modders (35 mil) and pay Swansea's asking price (15 mil) the 20 left can be used towards that marque striker we have been longing for. Hulk anyone?

Steed

Agree2 Disagree5

Good player but I think we can aim a little higher. Players like Moutinho and Hulk know what it takes to win things.

Lightning

Agree5 Disagree3

Joe Allen is a good little player but I think he will go Liverpool this transfer window. We are interested but I've heard he has a lot of admiration for Rodgers and even though we will offer higher wages, he will pick ROdgers over money which I find admirable of him.

Naz

Agree6 Disagree0

£20m is not enough for a marquee striker, whether it's Hulk or anyone else. We got £30m for Berbatov and we probably want someone at least as good, if not better... {Ed004's Note - I think Lewandowski would be a brilliant signing for Spurs but I would only guess that his value is around 20 million}

Agree5 Disagree2

At above poster I meant you could put the 20mil towards a striker if we had say 30 mil before then we have a chance of getting the big name. I didn't mean that the 20 mil would by a striker by itself, sorry for the ambiguity

Steed

Ed lewondoski * sorry if bad spelling * what kind of forward is he ? I've never seen him play
Bear yid
{Ed008's Note - Poacher type player works hard can score all types of goals he would thrive with the balls put in the box by Bale and Lennon.

Agree2 Disagree2

Lennon puts good balls into the box?

Seen rumours that we have made enquiries for dembele and willian. I would much rather sign sessengon than willian; he would cost at least 10 million less and has PL experience.

Believable3 Unbelievable3

Because that really shows ambition, sessegnon is overrated! why dont we sign bent back thatll be just as good.
tspur

Agree1 Disagree4

I would have really liked Dembele, for Fulham he was good and for Belgium (against England) he was amazing.

Only problem is we have Siggi now and I would put them under the same position bracket.

Naz

Agree3 Disagree2

Not really Naz. From what I'm aware, siggy's favoured position is just off the striker, where he'll rotate with van der vaart. Dembele has played all across midfield and attack in his time at fulham, but near the end of the season jol moved him back to Centre Mid, where he excelled.

Agree1 Disagree0

Dembele a top player would walk into most teams he is that good still not a striker that we need even more though!!
ou812

Agree3 Disagree0

I understand he was deployed as a centre mid but for belgium he played just behind the striker with another attacking midfielder too. For fulhum he played centre mid mainly because dempsey was better in that position but in the games he was very attacking, did not track back that much and even tho started as a centre mid, didnt tackle much so im inclined to position him more an attacking midfielder

I dont think this transfer will go through

SPURS make loan bid for Roma striker Marco Borriello
ou812

Believable2 Unbelievable4

Just watched his 10 goals scored 2010/11 on youtube; not convincing to say the least. did not strike the ball well at all; and seems to have a poor touch and no pace. So not impressed!

Agree4 Disagree0

Isn't he on £80,000 a week, and got banned 2 years ago for performance enhancing drugs. Doubt we will get him, plus he's 30ish and would rather play Bale upfront, who incidentally was wearing the number 9 shirt last night...... who was the poster who wanted Bale upfront? maybe AVB saw your post lol

Chelsea wont go for Butland they have Courtois on loan at A.Madrid as Cechs sucessor. I would expect us to go for Butland.

spurs guvnor

Believable8 Unbelievable1

If we sign vorm then we can loan out Butland for a season or two.

Lightning

Agree0 Disagree1

Doubt any players involved in olympics will have anything to do with transfers untill after. if Butland perfoms as well as he did in 2nd half of Brazil game his price tag will rocket. really want him to join us though!

Ajax are looking close to getting Vorm

Any truth in these Borriello rumours that the Spurs are interested. Just turned 30 was in his prime 18 month ago but form has dropped. Finished last season as a bit player for Juve but contracted to Roma. Juve had an agreement with Roma they could buy him for 8m euros at end of season, but passed it up. In Italy Borriello is being reported as a Spurs target. Seems unlikely to me, but could be a cheap squad player who 18 months ago was playing in the international team.

According to Spanish press reporting, Real Madrid have offered 40 million Euros, payable over 3 years, for Luka Modric.

The deal edges closer to what Spurs want but Levy continues to play hard ball

Levy is though to want £40 million not 40 million Euros and wants the payment made over 18 months, half of that which Real offered

Believable2 Unbelievable1

Tottenham want paying 40 million cash not over 3 years. what good is that to tottenham if they want to re-invest the money.

Agree2 Disagree2

Paid in 3 years?its madrid not millwall!!and why would we do that if we whant 2 spend the money on a new player??

Agree1 Disagree0

Cash is rarely paid up front. Instalments are common practice. We will probably sign a replacement on similar terms

Agree1 Disagree0

Payable in installments is normal when buying and selling.

When Spurs sold Bent to Sunderland it was in installments.

When Sunderland sold Bent to Villa, they hadnt finished paying for him {Ed001's Note - the FFP ruling has limited the number of instalments and length of time allowable. I need to look it up to find out the exact details, but you can no longer pay over any length of time, like in the past. Madrid are not awash with cash at the moment, they need time to find the money for Modric, possibly by selling Higuain. Certainly Kaka will go purely to save cash on his huge wages.}

Agree0 Disagree0

An agreed payment over time counts as a financial asset and can be used to secure funding at very low interest rates. The true cost of a payment over time is therefore not having to wait but around 1.5% of the transfer fee.

Believable4 Unbelievable0

They can have him for free!

The Rabbit

Agree5 Disagree2

Dont think they would get him and even though hes not right for us anymore i hope he goes on and has a gd time at another club

Agree0 Disagree2

Let them have him, i'll even drive him up there. Hopefully the first of the deadwood to go.

Agree3 Disagree0

Im a forest fan so sorry for posting on here but were all hoping JJ is comin back home..just wondered what your lads thought of it?? Could be a deal on the cards with Lascells?

Believable4 Unbelievable1

Possibly! jenas is a good player when he's not passing backwards or sideways. Would be a good signing for forest.

*lightning*

Agree5 Disagree2

I am happy if he goes he's useless

Agree5 Disagree3

JJ is a good all-round midfield player whose problem at Spurs is just that he is not quite as good as we need him to be. I don't know what his plans are, but if he does go to Forest my only note of caution would be his injury record. It is not great. He is not one of those players that is always breaking down and disappearing for months at time, but he does seem to pick up two or three minor injuries every season, which keep him out for two or three or four weeks at a time. Too often, he is not available when you need him to be.
KM

Agree1 Disagree2

Fingers crossed and if he needs help moving I'm more than happy 2 assist!

Agree4 Disagree2

Be happy to see him go to be fair, ain't done much lately.
Plus use what cash we do get for him in the range of £2.50 to get better players!
