I have heard more rumours regarding Ganso coming to the Lane... is this true? Great player, if you don't know what I am talking about look at him on YouTube - the guy is simply amazing, and I tell you what - Modders needs to take a leaf out of his book. Gives 100% in every game, skill full, great passing ability, his space awareness is just extraordinary, and he can score goals - Modders, where are your goals?
It's time the board made a decision on the dead wood there, and for good sake give Gio a chance for the final 4 games. If we are going to sell him in the summer then at least let him show how good he is so we get a decent amount of money for him. 2 new strikers, 3 new centre back, cover for full backs and a new keeper. Come on guys we are at an exciting stage and we could really push on with the right buys so get in there early and make things happen!!! COYS

During the Man utd courting at the start of the season, Ganso was on the list to replace Modric if he left. Then Chelsea used underhanded attempts to lure him away and Levy just flat out said noway at all.

Papers today link him yet again with man utd and in my opinion I think he will go Utd in the summer as he would suit them very nicely as the new scholes. Ive heard good things about Ganso but even I could look world class if I was playing against people in a wheelchair. No disrespect to his league but doing it where he is, and doing it in the Prem are two very different things. And everyone always looks good on youtube, look at Andy Carrol

Ok, first of all, lay of modders. He plays deeper than ganso, and mata, and silva and all these players that are supposedly comparable to him. When the Mail was trying to sell him to Chelsea last summer, it was highlighted that you don't want to look at goals/assists, but key passes, pass completion, etc. He is pretty unique in that he is a dynamic cm who sits deep and dictates the flow of the game, but is not out-and-out defensively. The modric bashing is a reaction to our poor form. Secondly, you want us to give Gio Dos Santos, someone who has always failed to take his chances for us and who clearly lacks the committment necessary in training, someone who has not played with any regularity this season, a chance in 4 of the most important games in our recent history? That is madness.

Above poster very well said ....
But for the amounts touted for ganso I think 15 m wasn't it ? Being a youngster who does look to have great vision .... Should be added at the very least to a thorough scouting list If not already done so ...
But modric must be kept ... Can anyone find modrics pass comepletion rate though ? That would be intresting to see As livermores someone
Said was in the 90%

Agree1 Disagree1

I dont see Ganso leaving Santos at the moment, the club is completing 100 years of existence and its president aim making him stay here in Brazil until the end of the League(december)

Agree1 Disagree0

I get it about Modders, but can I ask you when his last best performance was? It has actually been a long time and sometimes Scotty P has been covering him with passes as well. I wish modders would realise the we have the potential to be something great, but he is a typical eastern European footballer... Money money money, look at berba

Agree0 Disagree0

Id say the last time I saw modric perform well was probably tail end of last year ... Although if you watch him his work rate seems to have improved with the chasing people down a lot more rather than leave it to others

Agree0 Disagree0

I think people expect too much from Modders. Yes it's true that he does not score much nor does he assist much but that is not part of his game. It is to get involved and play the simple passes to the likes of VDV, Bale and Adebayor. everything goes through him and I think he is underatted as a spurs player. I liken Modders to Pirlo rather than an attacking Midfielder and Pirlo only got high ratings when he scores from freekicks.

I like Modric and would like him to stay but 40 million is a lot of cash if someone was to bid in for him...

Question is, who would we like to replace him and would they hit the floor running?

I would prefer Modders over Livermore anyday

I at very least realise also that modrics game isn't scoring goals ....
Yes he is a key player for us .... But look how many passes he has misplaced in the last 8-10 games ... I do realise the whole teams form has dipped in that time but it's no excuse to give away a lot of passes ...
Hell look at Allen from Swansea his pass record Is better than any of ours
Parker is apparently our best with 89.9 %
And he's 22 id say throw him in there that would use a fraction of the price we'd get for modders

Agree0 Disagree0

Done some searching and seen 2 sites state - "Modric pass completion 87%, including an impressive 232 of 277 long balls completed" for the season so far until today.

But I do not know how much this has dropped over the last 10 games

Agree2 Disagree1

Agree with Naz, Modric is an incredibly difficult player to replace. Flair players like Bale and VDV can be replaced as far as their goal scoring and creating stats are concerned, but players like Modric carry an intangible value to the team. All the top teams have that deep-lying playmaker who keeps things ticking over (scholes, toure, arteta for the top 3). Probably the best stat I heard about Modric is that he has received more passes from team mates than any player in the league. There are good players out there who can do that job but definitely difficult to find.

Look what happened to lfc when alonso sold and then lucus matured and looked what happened when he got injured

Agree2 Disagree1

The reason for lfc failing to reestablish themselves as title contenders is the loss of alonso. Without him Gerrard didn't get the ball and so Torres didn't get the ball.

Agree1 Disagree0

I don't see you guys challenging for the title but take example from Newcastle and build a team from hidden Jems who will cost u far less money than big money, big wage players you are dreaming off. [Hazard, Ganso, Llorente etcc] as you have no chance of getting those big name players.

Bosco

Agree6 Disagree4

Bosco, that is what we have been doing. our record buy is 17 million, and the entire team v chelsea in the semi cost less than torres. We are talking about trying to kick on and get a team that we know will always be around the top 3/4 not just challenging during one good season like newcastle. What happens when the big teams start sniffing around them?

My views are to get rid of the deadwood in our squad, i.e. bentley, jenas, dos santos, pienaar, gomes, bassong, corluka, huddlestone, gallas saha to trim wage bill and bring in £50m or so and get, (cb)jan vertonghen, (rm)eden hazard/hatem ben arfa or if possible arjen robben and two of the following strikers (st) manu adebayor/leandro damaio/klass jan huntelaar/fernando llorente/guiseppe rossi.

Believable2 Unbelievable4

Huddlestone is hardly deadwood simply been injured and it would have been great to have had him available the second half of this season.
No point in going for Rossi he has just broken down again and will now be out for a number more months and then would need to show he could get back to his previous form.

Agree4 Disagree3

And then your alarm clock woke you up and you realised you were dreaming!

Agree5 Disagree1

When is this going to stop?! You can't just list the players you want to sell and BANG they're gone. Other clubs have to be willing to pay us a transfer fee and the players' wages!

With Levy the negotiator that he is and with what we're paying those players at the moment, don't bet on very many of those happening!

And Big Tom was the reason we got 4th last time - he will be back in a Spurs shirt better than ever.

Agree5 Disagree1

Arry needs to say no to England now even before theres an official approach if he doesnt then were in for a long summer of indecision..levies hands are tied until this rubbish is sorted

Agree2 Disagree2

With regards to huddlestone he will be behind modders, paker and proberly sandro so why not get rid of him. Possibly get 10-12m for him.

Agree1 Disagree2

Also in regards to The hudd.... He is an absolutely amazing player to have at the end of a season when the rest of the middle of of the park need a rest ....
I for one also think we have missed him ...

Agree6 Disagree0

I think that spurs should sell modders as he obviously wants to go for at least £40m+ buy sigurdsun (£10m) from hoffenheim, or Allen (£10-12m)from swansea or both to replace him, In Defence get Vertoghen (£10-15m) from Ajax, a winger, multi talented player like Hazard (£25-30m) On the forward line get a young pup like Bas Dost (£5-7m) from heerenveen or Damiao (18-25m) from inter to learn the ropes from Adebayor (£12-15m), Huntelaar (£15-20m) or Raul on a free from Shalke 04 or a similar experienced striker. Sell all the deadwood like Gio, Peeniaar, Bently, Jenas, Gallas, Bassong, Saha, Niko, to recoup some funds. An expensive summer spend but possibly worth it!!
