Jay Rodriguez has verbally agreed a deal with Tottenham in a move that will cost £8 million he is set to complete his move in the next few weeks and will be on £75 grand a week on a 4 year deal all that we are waiting for is comformation from Southampton who are yet to officially accept the bid.

Believable5 Unbelievable13

{Ed002's Note - That would of course be tapping up and would be really, really bad news for Spurs. Advice is that if you are going to tap up players, tap up players who are fit.

Interestingly, there is interest from Spurs in the player - but they are not tapping him up.}

I agree rodriguez would be a bad move but all the players we expect to be decent end up being total flops with the exception of VDV

So is this fake? Or is there some truth to this eds? That came from nowhere!

Agree7 Disagree2

{Ed001's Note - there is interest, but no deal has been done.}

Eds couldn't reply yes to that question without dropping spurs in it, I would take it as he is going to join in the near future:)

Agree2 Disagree7

Seriously? To me this shows such lack of ambition it's painful. He is ok at best. Glad I don't believe everything I read lol.

Agree with foxspur907,hardly a statement of intent if we were to sign him,I would be much happier if we could get Bony at the Lane.

Agree10 Disagree2

Lack of ambition? Rodriguez scored 15 goals last season! More than any of our strikers. Why are you all so afraid of giving young English players a chance? He has more quality than Kane, knows how to score goals in open play and doesn't spit the dummy out and go missing for half a season. As we have seen this season getting players from outside of the PL isn't always the best option

Agree9 Disagree7

Jakethespur, it's nothing to do with being afraid of buying an English prospect but we have waited so long for real success that I would prefer us to buy a world class CF and maybe Rodriguez as cover! Soldado will come good this season as his honeymoon period is over and we never played to his strengths, but we need top quality now not for the future so we can compete and not chase the opposition! Just my impatient opinion if I'm honest.

Smart summer moves that Spurs could pull off:

Alessio Cerci- The Torino man has expressed his desire to play premier league football and is believed to be one of the players Baldini is watching in Brazil.

Daryl Janmaat- Classy right back seems desperate to leave Feyenoord although I doubt a move to Spurs is likely without Walker moving.

Dejan Lovren- The croatian is supposedly open to a move to link up with Pochettino again.

Alfred Finnbogason- The Icelandic striker wants a premier league move and playing his football at SC Heerenveen and Europe's 5th top scorer this season with 31 goals in 34 games. He has confirmed he is quitting the Eredivisie club this summer.

Artyom Dzyuba- the 6ft 5 russian forward has enjoyed a fruitful season at Rostov with 17 goals in 28 games.

COYS!

Agree6 Disagree1

{Ed002's Note - Torino purchased the remainder of Cerci's contract earlier this year so owns him outright. Everton and Palermo have previously enquired. Bayern Munich, Arsenal and Manchester United looked at the start of the season and both Manchester City and Chelsea have made enquiries that may lead to an offer. Roma has had an offer rejected.}

There is unconfirmed interest in Janmaat, but as you say it would need Walker to move on.

There is certainly interest in Lovren.

Finnbogason has attracted recent interest from Newcastle, Olympiakos and Augsberg.

Dzyuba would probably not get a work permit.}

Jakethespur, totally agree, he is 4 times the player that Kane is! Let Arry have Kane for £5 mill and buy Rodriguez . Have him and Soldado as our main strikers with Ade as back up to give us something different . Buy Alderweld to play with Verts in centre, with Vlad and Fryers as cover, get in Swansea left back ( Davies? ), and get rid of BAE, Dawson, Kaboul, Naughton, Townsend, Livermore, Carroll, Siggy . That would cut the wages by approx £300k per week and fetch in £40 mill?

but that doesn't mean spurs can't try and snap up Finnbogason or Cerci and is there any truth to Blerim Demaili. heres another thought, why not go for Draxler? Arsenal's interest seems to have dissipated in recent months.

Agree4 Disagree1

{Ed002's Note - Spurs have shown no interest in these players.}

Davo, I partially agree with it but selling Tommy Caroll and Siggy are bad moves. I think siggy has the best attitude out of all the players at tottenham scoring frequently when started and always having an impact yet when he's on the bench- (85% of the time) he never complains and gets on with it we need to show more support and get behind siggy next season and Tommy carroll needs his chance.

Agree9 Disagree2

Sorry but Siggy not good enough . I do feel sorry for Carroll but he doesn't seem to have progressed . I have seen him at QPR a couple of times and doesn't look good enough!

Agree5 Disagree7

Foxspur907 we are all entitled to an opinion but I'm afraid some fans have such a short sighted view. Do you not think all clubs would like to buy a 20/30 goal a season striker? More often than not it is the player signed on a leap of faith like sturridge, benteke, Suarez, michu, bony rather than being a "proven" world class striker, the names Torres and schevchenko leaps to mind. So what is your solution? Who is you're choice to take us the promised land?

Agree3 Disagree1

12 Jun 2014 23:22:16
lakaku is the only striker for us we should go all out to sign him

Agree7 Disagree3

13 Jun 2014 00:10:00
Davo - you think Ade would accept the role of 3rd choice striker? if that is the plan we'd be better of selling him now and bringing someone else, younger, in.

Agree1 Disagree2

Jakethespur, I would like any of the following: Jackson Martinez, higuain, Abel Hernandez, mandzukic or more realistically, Dzeko and Lukaku.

Also Mats Hummels for defence with A.Cole. As mentioned he will be divisive but quality all the same! New backup keeper in kasper schmeical?

Agree3 Disagree2

Yellow card, I wonder if we will let him go anyway as I can't see where he would fit in with Mopo's type of football as he certainly don't work hard enough!

Agree2 Disagree1

Dzeko won't leave city for tottenham and to be brutally honest, at the moment Lukaku has better clubs in the fray than tottenham. with all due respect, the progression has been fantastic in recent years but we haven't progressed enough to sign 'big name' goal machines so I stand by what I said and agreeing with Jakethespur in saying that the leap of faith strikers/the ones we don't know so much about are often the ones who get the goals, so we should take a gamble on a player like Finnbogason, Berardi, Batshuayi and we are more likely to get 20+ goals out of one of them COYS!

Davo, I'd guess if there are any reasonable offers we will let him go. I don't think Levy needs a repeat of the fractured dressing room again for whatever reason.

Agree3 Disagree1

Foxspur907 mate this is not FIFA, even you're "realistic" options will not happen! I love Tottenham Hotspur but we are under achievers, with no champions league football again, a habit of changing managers and an unwillingness to pay huge wages. Nearly all of the players you mention either have or will go to a club that has CL. I'd personally like to see a couple of strengthening signings. Up front Rodriguez, Lovren at the back, a new left back and maybe a player like Schneiderlin for the middle. Trust some players that have PL experience and know what our league is all about. We cannot afford another bedding in season especially now we have a good young manager and a trigger happy chairman. Are you not ready for a Change of approach yet or do you just want to keep throwing money at European clubs

Agree4 Disagree4

Jakethespur, totally agree there that we shouldn't keep throwing money around and yes those players I mentioned May just want CL football to a point (just not Rodriguez unless as backup lol) but are affordable going by what we have payed out in the past, but as you mentioned we constantly change managers. So yes a change would be welcomed with a steady approach, but we all know that DL demands almost instant success.

The players we bought last year will do a lot better this season and we all know that foreign league players can take a bit longer to adjust. The biggest mistake I think we made was buying so many and as you said not much of a mix with current PL players to get a good balance between instand and long term success.

Also agree with strengthening but I would like to see a quality LB - never rated Rose but willing to give a chance, a less injury prone CB and a quality striker.

3 players for me and at least we could hold our own providing the players we bought last season step up!

Either way, whatever happens, I have renewed my season ticket so COYS!

Any truth in the Loic Remy rumours.

Keep hearing we've agreed a fee but he's holding out for the goons.!? Surely not if that's his attitude to be honest I don't want him at the lane. Also any interest this summer for benteke.!? Cheers eds!

Believable2 Unbelievable3

{Ed002's Note - The expectation is that Remy will move on this summer and QPR know they will struggle to keep him. Arsenal are interested in the player and would need to pay a fixed amount to QPR as stated in his contract. Spurs are perhaps an option but the lack of Champions League football make them considerably less attractive - like Newcastle who were also interested in the player.}
