transfer window opens in a few days.a striker is needed big time, let's go for either bony or benteke. if not maybe papis cisse from newcastle. also I know we have a lot of midfielders but I think sissoko from newcastle is a top player. what do other fellow fans think

Playing Spurs Manager 2015.

I'd rather we focused on defence to get that working and left the more attacking players to the summer.

We have no right back cover for Walker. Chir is error prone whilst Dier is makeshift. The former should be moved on whilst the latter given opportunities to play centre back in cup and european games. So that is a must for me.

Also I think we need another centre back, with Kaboul going out as he's nowhere near the first team quality. Fazio is forming a decent partnership with Verts, but I see us needing him as first cover / against teams with height that cross a lot.

That gives the 2 new guys time to settle into the squad so that they are up and running for next year.

Moreno seems the target for CB. As for right back, no idea. Anyone that can actually play as a right back really!

The destroyer is a problem as well. Bentaleb doesn't position well enough, Stambouli is a bit off the pace, and Capoue seems to have disappeared. Are any of them really up to the same quality as our best players? I think Bentaleb should go out on loan to get experience as he is a liability at present. Capoue would also have to go as well. That leaves Stambouli as the backup for a new signing, but maybe that's a summertime thing?

But who is there? De Rossi was whispered a few years ago, but is almost certainly too old now and not interested, even if Poch were up for it. We all know that Poch wants Schneiderlin, and although Southampton have no need to sell and their boardroom is probably wallpapered in £50 notes, but maybe doing so well having lost so many players in the summer will tempt them to thinking they will be ok? Again seems more like a summer thing. Of course if we are dreaming then there's always Khedira! ;)

Mason is really progressing in the passer role and I wouldn't want to stunt that. Whether it's a real step up or a temporary blip is unclear but the guy looks like he has a hell of a future with us. He does need proper cover and not a defensive midfielder. I'd recall Holtby for this position.

In attacking midfield it looks like Chadli and Lamela either side of Eriksen is working well. With Eriksen central (and free) he is not bumping into other players, whilst the others start wide to stretch the play and have been better at varying their approach (look how Chadli will go to the line and cross as well as look to cut in and shoot, whilst Lamela will dribble into dangerous positions).

The problem again is no cover. Lamela I guess didn't have the fitness to play 2 games so close, or maybe not the speed to cope with Young. Either way he's not going to be playing every game, and Townsend is just not an option. Chadli and Lamela both need cover (and a challenge). I'd bring someone in sooner rather than later; someone with some premier league experience that can be dropped in whenever required and be up to speed quickly. I doubt they would want to sell, but I'd go for Adam Johnson. Can play either side, has bags of energy, and can contribute goals and assists.

Up front I think we know that Ade has had his day. Soldado is the ultimate enigma; how does he look so bad for us when he was such a machine in La Liga? I'd ship off Ade (although who would touch him?) regardless. It is important that Kane is kept playing to keep up his development, and for the same reason I'd leave Pritchard where he is.

With us playing 1 up front we really only need Kane and Soldado, so if we were to sign a third I think again I'd go for PL experience as cover. Then in the summer we can make a decision on whether to stick with Soldado or replace him. If Everton keep up their bad form then Lukaku may be available, or Benteke may want a step up; we have enough guile we need some power.

So for January:
Out - Chiriches, Capoue, Bentaleb (loan), Townsend, Adebayor
In - Schneiderlin, Johnson, Moreno,

Yedlin will likely be the only RB for this window.

I would like to see a striker, part of the impact of Kane is I think the team has confidence in his ability to score goals currently. Once his scoring run dries up there is no one for us to turn to as much as I'd like Soldado to come good, he just doesn't seem to be able to get the ball from under his feet.

I assume Yellow-Card is right with Yedlin, but please tell me it's not Glen Johnson you're hoping for as an in?

Somebody's had too much Christmas sherry if they think we are shipping out 5 players in January!

Think Chiriches is going out on loan but doubt Bentaleb will.

{Ed002's Note - You might want to think about Paulinho.}

Don't be surprised if Chiriches stays as cover for RB and CB. There's others than offer less such as Kaboul and Naughton to name two.

I'd get rid of Pauliho & Lamela.

We should get a decent amount of funds selling them two.

Walker and Yedlin should be ok, Walker getting back to fitness and half a season to see what Yedlin is about. Get in Moreno and Kaboul and Rose can go in the summer. Hopefully Southampton come back for Townsend or a Newcastle might come in for him. Hopefully Ade comes back reborn, if not a new striker is very much required. We can't expect Harry Kane and Christian Erikson to carry us all season.
