Good to see holtby on board. tv have quoted that tottenham have said there be no more signings coming in at tottenham now but may see a player or 2 leave. i'd like to have seen a striker arrive but not looking likely. Shame really.

If I am wrong I am not posting again haha but reason holtby tied up today and not 31st January as Spurs are going to be working their socks off 31st January to sign a striker and waiting till final day to sign holtby would just complicate things. expect a striker to be signed, no idea who to be honest as I think there's a list in mind

Leeds was a reality check we are over achieving. We have been for 3-4 years now
bale was a fluke (was he not going out on loan b4 benni got injured)
we have waited years to win things never seen us win the league and i'm 40
we get excited just to qualify for cl ( come on)
if not for our fantastic world wide fan base we would be in the championship league (that is thanks to the 60s boys for getting us noticed)
y have a state of the art training ground if we have average players (scared to bring the young boys through)
vdv days are over that was a one offfffffffff
(mr g is negative you will most say)
EVERTON =no money old stadium but fair play to them they are up our ass year in year out

What really gets on my tits....... we were so close to getting mout apart from a few million so the 20 odd million is there for a single player. RIGHT??
we do this every window we try to sign that super star then get an emergency signing instead....and 9 out of that wast that money........
benteke 8-10 mil villa
berba 4-6 mil fulham
mitchu 2mil swans
lorentez cheap juve

look there are cheap strikers around (what are our scouts doing)
levy want a superstar at bargain prices (dnt every club?)

if we was not so desperate then we could get a couple and bring them through..

Ed don't you think we should take a punt on Gyan, he looked very good for Sunderland and wouldn't be too expensive, has been scoring for fun in the Saudi league

Joburg Spur {Ed001's Note - he is a bit of a money grabber though.}

Got to ask guys; why is it that negredo, damiao and soldado are all top of everyone's list but hooper is being slagged rotten? Why would they be any better in the prem?

Rufus

Believable2 Unbelievable2

Good point. The not EPL-proven argument falls flat with those guys. At least Negredo/Soldado plays in Europe and has played in continental competitions.
Why is damiao given a pass on this? Sure he has potential, is an international, and did a fancy flick to beat a defender, but what makes everyone so sure he would suceed at THFC?

Royal Yod

Agree1 Disagree1

I have been saying this about Damiao since forever. The Brazilian league is of a much higher standard that the SPL, but it is still no indication of transferability to the EPL. There have been plenty of flops from Brazil.

OF COURSE AVB IS NOT going to PUBLICLY CLAIM WE NEED A STRIKER! as soon as other clubs know we are publicly looking for a striker then the prices double! get a grip people! have a little sense.

Believable5 Unbelievable0

Do you think that AVB saying we don't need a striker would make any difference? Its quite obivous we need a striker so prices will inflate whatever is/isnt said. Roll on Febuary

Agree2 Disagree0

I think its got to the point where people know we need a stiker. we've only got 2 and they're both out at the moment

So, we've agreed a deal with Shalke for Holtby now. £1.5m rumoured to be the fee. I'm personally excited by this signing. A real prospect. German under 21 captain moving up to the full squad with a few caps.

A striker now please Mr Levy. And not Hooper. Somebody of real quality that will make defences nervous i.e. Negredo, Soldado, Huntelaar or Vydra from Udinese, he certainly knows where the goal is and Udinese seem to be looking to sell to Watford, so we could pay a bit more. I know the same family own Watford and Udinese, so they're effectively paying themselves, but if we put in a bid, why not?

The oracle,

There you go Mr, holtby was the only creative midfielder signing this January.

Damaio is still a possibility but if they can't negotiate this January it'll be the end.

You are not in the know Oracle.

The Channeller.

Believable1 Unbelievable1

Forget Damiao. For the 25m price for him you could pay the transfer fees for Negredo, Van Wolfswinkel and Diame.

I know which of the two options I would prefer.

I'm hoping for Negredo over Damaio, more proven in La Liga and good goal record overall. He's played some internationals and if he was £12m ish would represent a reasonable gamble. Damaio at £20m+ is a big ask and never going to happen anyway. The other could be Soldado if Valencia are still in trouble like Sevilla but how much given his current Champions League status?
Either way let's hope Levy takes a suitcase of pound notes out by Thursday to give us a chance of 4th. Even Everton have just spent £8m on a new player.

I'm warming to the idea of these Ricky van Wolfswinkel rumours. Yes he is more of a striker for the future than other options that we have been considering, but maybe it's best to sign a promising young striker who can provide cover and additional competition to Defoe and Adebayor (get them firing again) without rocking the boat too much at this point in the season.

RvW is a good finisher with loads of potential, probably at the expense of some physical strength. I don't know if he could handle the physicality of the EPL, but then again look at RvP when he first joined Arsenal. I have mixed feelings about this one but I believe it's far more likely and far less of a gamble than Damiao, for example, or anyone currently available who is a) expensive and b) would want to come straight in as our 1st choice striker.

At this point I would be happy with any of Belhanda, Diame, Hooper or RvW coming to the Lane. If we don't sign any of the above then I would hope that the Holtby deal is brought forward to this window at least.

Adam

Believable0 Unbelievable2

Adam, hooper would be a sign of our desperation, please no ! Surely we are worth better especially at 8 million .
Davo

Agree0 Disagree0

Hooper would be scoring all kinds of goals for you with the players you have who can make a great pass. Sir Alex has said he is a true striker and is good enough eh, just so you know. 8mill would be a steal for when he could fetch 15+ in epl

Agree0 Disagree0

If anyone paid 15 mill for Hooper then it would be on a par with what Liverpool paid for Carroll, bloody stupidity !
Davo

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm inclined to agree with you Davo, I would be the least enthusiastic with that signing but if Levy and AVB think he's the real deal then I'll happily give him a chance.

Adam

Agree0 Disagree0

Why hass'nt Sir Alex signed hooper then, if he is a true striker, he's a lazy barsteward, I, ve seen him often, hooper, not fergie,

As of 11.30, .com are quoting a story confirming that a fee of £1.5m has been agreed between Spurs and Schalke for Holtby. Any chance of throwing Huntelaar in with that?? Please??

Now it's up to the player to decide if he wants to go now. Wages are resolved as per the pre-contract agreement, so hopefully it should be good to go.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

That's prob the problem levy wants hunt as well as holtby for the 1.5mil rumoured lol

BREAKING TRANSFER NEWS -

I have the pleasure of exclusively revealing that Tottenham Hotspur FC has agreed to the transfer of an amazing player that we will be enjoying watching for years to come.

This player plays as a striker, midfielder, defender or keeper. Standing between 4ft2in and 7ft1in depending in your source, he'll fill that gap perfectly!

He probably has many years experience playing at the highest level of European (or non European) football and will instil that little extra winning mentality amongst our current players (hopefully).

Transfer fee will be undisclosed but is expected to be somewhere between £2.50p and £100m.

Some what of a hit with the ladies to, Fred Blogs read a statement on behalf of the marketing dept saying that due to his boyish old man looks and long short blond brown hair and his deep blue brown eyes, he'll be a poster boy for years to come.

All I can say is well done Mr Levy. There was I thinking that you'd be as vague as last January before buying us a couple of past it cheap duds. Thank you for proving me wrong by buying your long standing supports a player of his quality (who ever he is!)

Flippit

Believable5 Unbelievable2

Flippit you've been saying the same rubbish for the last 71 transfer windows. When are you going to learn? He (who ever he is) is not coming to Spurs! Come February 1st when he still hasn't signed, will you finally admit you are not in the know!?

A good striker is needed and without one we will not finish 4th. There are no ifs or buts, even the arse (who are the poorest they've been in many years) have options to rotate up front and find goals. Chelsea brought in Ba and have more goalscoring midfielders than anybody.
Even Odemwingie would be a cheap option as a stop-gap for some cover and does score Premiership goals but not £8m on Hooper!

think we do need another striker and unless parker gets his form back we need a holding midfielder. he was shocking yesterday kept losing the ball by been tackled and kept passing it to leeds and his control got him in trouble caukaler and naughton were just as bad for the goals and vert had a poor game as well, for one of the goals he was just jogging back with not a care in the world. hopefully we will get holtby a forward and a holding midfielder before the end of the window.

Believable1 Unbelievable1

Parker was back to normal, chasing round the pitch like a headless chicken ! Has never been able to pass or control the ball but good for annoying the opposition ! Was firmly put in his place by brown who is what, 20 years older ?
