Just watching Uruguay v brazil, 55 min gone. Excuse me but I'm a but concerned 17 mil for Paulinho? He dnt look all that great. Can someone tell me that that have watch him a few time, and that he is top class.

Yes. A header from 3 yards at the back post aided by the keeper going walk about. IMO just didn't see enough from him to say he has that magic when we need it at home against say the likes of west brom when they park the bus and play us on the counter attack.

Don't believe he is being brought in for that role personally. Think we'll see Sandro and he play more central defensive midfield ( box to box or whatever you want to call it) and Dembele pushing forward more, similar to the role he had at Fulham. Our goals against needs improving in addition to our need to share the goal scoring load around more.

He ets played out of position, he's not a holding midfielder, much more of a box to box player.

Personally I think spurs should say to madrid you can have bale for 50+mil plus higuan, contrao, di maria and modric as it is a ridiculously unfair deal favouring spurs that is highly unlikey to be offered
This would be good as it is highly unlikey they will accept with the added bonus of if they do offer something else we can can reply 'weve told you what we want for him'
Also it gives us replacement in all areas if it was actually excepted, with funds to cover the difference in wages plus a little extra to spend on paulinho plus another striker (villa, soldado, Negredo, Benteke) and possibly a winger
Another bonus is that if RM would be stupid enough to even offer this it would stop arsenal getting Higuan and monaco getting contrao which is a bonus as it prevents rivals from strengthening
Also this deal would never happen as modric especially would not want to come back to WHL making the deal impossible but still giving us an excuse of not accepting offers
Obviously this would never happen but I think its worth telling RM as this deal clearly favours spurs and would hopefully stop them being so disrespectful by tapping up the player constntly in the press

Yeah Ed I think that's the original posters idea behind it. He doesn't want to see Bale leave so let them know it's that or nothing. Hence spurs get a win win situation, sell Bale have better team and money, don't sell Bale then we have Bale so all good for us. It's a pointless scenario as it'll never happen and took me to get drunk to understand it but I think I understand now lol.

Heres a crazy idea.
AVB liked Oriol Romeu when he was at chelsea. With Mou coming in maybe Oriol will be available for transfer. If he had AVB's faith back then, then why not spend the 4m on him and sure up our midfield. This would allow us to sell Thudd without anxiety for a good-value second string replacement (with mccarthy being overpriced). we'd make a profit, lower our average age, increase squad athletic ability (passing ability staying the same?), and the player resale value can only improve.

Romeu's passing ability is nowhere near that of THudd. I personally think THudd gets a bad rep on here. He can pick out a pass that nobody else in our squad can.
Also, everyone keeps going on about our midfield of Dembele, Sandro and Paulinho (should he sign), people are forgetting Holtby, who I personally think will grow into a great player for us!

I agree with Dom, I think Thudd is better than Romeu, and more experienced. and like he says Holtby showed glimpses last season that he could be great.
Id rather see us pick up Wanyama for £8m as cover for Sandro and move Scotty P on? As much as I love him his age started to show last season and we'd probably still get £3-4m?
Anyway STRIKER first.

So much for our "Special Relationship" with Real Madrid, not only does it look like they will sell Higuain to the Goons now they are trying to pinch Paulinho from under our noses! Not forgetting of course their constant (illegal?) tapping up of Gareth Bale!

What are your thoughts on our signings so far?
I heard Soldado will stay in Spain, Bernard is off to Porto and Inter have sent their people to Brazil to fork out a deal for Paulinho.
And the goons Signed Higuain & Fellani. What is going on? And the Chavs have brought Schrulle and Cavani soon! Why oh why? Should we wait til the best teams get their targets while we loose out?

Bernard off to Porto.

High wages on a 4 year contract would be too risky for no guarantee of cl with him or he becomes a sulk and we have to pay wages while he refuses to play.
Dont be so jealous, there are good reasons we didn't move on him.
My reason would be years ago he said he'd retire at 30. not good since he's 29 right now
