It's got to be good news as exciting football will get everybody behind him and the team even if the results don't always happen. I hope he carries on his attacking style and now he has got the contract he does not start changing his ideas

Well done Levy. This is great news, I really believe that Sherwood will be a great appointment.

Absolutely guarantee a Dutchman in charge at the start of next season.
De boer or van gaal, you decide.
My money us on an unemployed van gaal, after hiddink takes over holland.
I reckon levy has got his man. Not Sherwood, but van gaal. My opinion only tho.

Who knows if he's the right man for the job but I don't believe anybody should be labelling Sherwood arrogant or similar in his press conferences like I heard on radio phone-ins. I have found him direct, honest and committed.

He's said that people can talk about projects if they want but it's about results; bad results = the sack. Sounds realistic.

He's said the club needs to decide which direction to take regarding youth etc, surely that makes sense if he got the job because he knows them all so well and wants to know if they come into the equation.

Somebody mentioned him treating the Southampton game like a job interview, well the rumour was he had two games initially to see how things go so he had to go for it yesterday and it paid off. Defensively we still looked pretty poor but we could've scored another 3-4 ourselves. Setting up to build slowly and stop other teams has not worked properly either so no problem with what he did.

He's said he wants to get on with the job properly or not, that makes sense from Spurs' point of view and he cannot be seen as easy to undermine by senior players (old or new) and has to ensure he's 'the man' in charge as far as they're concerned. If not he wants to go back to what his official job is- why not? He didn't ask them to sack AVB without a back-up plan so should make sure it's right for him too. Anybody would do the same in a job situation, you make the most of opportunities for yourself in the best way possible for you to succeed or you miss out.

He's inexperienced at this level for management but he's been coaching and managing the club's youth and fringe players for years and is well regarded. He knows what it takes to win the Premier League as a player and loves the club. To my mind AVB was a huge gamble and it hasn't paid off (for whatever reasons). He was never going to get much slack from the press or public after the Chelsea fiasco when there was any bad spell at all and, we couldn't even stick with him when 7th in the form/table and having one of the best away records in the league! Ridiculous appointment if Levy wasn't going to over-look those kinds of blips in form after bringing in so many players. I don't think he was the man for the job but if you employ him as Levy did then have some conviction about it.

Excellent post Simmo. I really want Sherwood to be the manager/coach. He knows Tottenham, he knows about all our youth players and has a no nonsense attitude whilst being likeable at the sametime. Whose to say that some of our development squad won't go on to be stars, Sherwood will give them the chance.

As predicted Sherwood would be the manager, and I believe I said this before AVB was appointed that if Sherwood would be manager after AVB.

Sherwood will be a quality manager.

He is keeping the seat warm rabbit.
Only top 4 and a trophy will get Tim the job on a perm basis.
Is this going to happen? Wot do you think. Our new manager will be in after the World Cup.

Well I posted that before tonight's announcement and now he's got the job I have to say i'm not that disappointed. It should temper expectations a bit because he's new to such a big job and he's obviously cheaper than alternatives (to keep Levy happy). Although I think we'll be in for a few more pastings when we're too open, I also think we'll get at the weaker teams playing to our strengths and making them worry about us. That will be better than sitting back and slowing down the game completely which suits the opposition to have time to get behind the ball and re-group whenever we're in possession.
Let's see how it goes, i'm not sure the team on Sunday is quite how gung-ho he'll go all the time and, if you put Sandro, Vertonghen and maybe Kaboul in as well then it's much stronger defensively.

Valley, don't you think he has been out of the game too long! Brilliant player but did he cut it as a manager?

really good important win against Southampton thought Sherwood got his team selection and tactics right but my main point is not sure how much credit Soldado is getting but I thought he was excellent although he did not score he's work rate and all round play was excellent by far his best performance of the season
