Just saying what if we keep bale

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Is there a down side, assuming he is happy to stay and doesn't spend the season out with a broken toe nail.

Agree0 Disagree0

If we keep bale because he wants to stay in this tram then anything could happen. If we keep bale against his will it makes no difference to if we cash in

Agree0 Disagree0

IMO, we will sign willian and have either bale or lamela.
If we sign him from Roma, bale will go.
Either way, a very impressive team.

Agree0 Disagree0

I have to admit that if we do sign Lamela and Willian then this window for us would surpass any window we have ever had by a landslide. If we sell bale I agree with HASS that Bales fee would have virtually paid for ALL our tsfrs this window.

On the flip side we would lose our best player! As some may know I placed a massive bet on Bale staying but at this rate even I am starting to believe he may be on his way.

Just imagine though if his sale is to replace what has been spent and he decides to stay at Spurs lol, I would think that a title shot is definitely on the cards.

We can but dream. The only negative I can see is that we have virtually replaced half of our team and that can lead us to be a bit disjointed potentially at key times but hey we have done amazing business early and that is a 1st. Well done Levy, AVB and Baldini.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Remember, with all our sales so far as well, we've only actually spent £22m net.

Agree0 Disagree0

That just makes it even better :)

Agree0 Disagree0

Yep so even with £60m on Willian and Lamela and possibly up to £10m on Chiriches or Alderweireld, it will be a spend of £0 if we get the quoted £93m for Bale.
Parker, Hudd, Caulker, Bale sold. Galas, Bentley wages gone too.
Quality additions, maybe Coentrao on top of Bale money - could not have asked for more if we have to lose Bale.

Hi guys Arsenal fan here in peace:)

Well well well. The time may have come when you finally overtake us as the best North London team! :(

As an Arsenal fan I see our main rivals spending 60m+ and then we haven't spent a penny! We have got rid of something like 22 players and replaced all of them with 1 injury prone striker.
Whereas you have sold very few players but strengthened your weaknesses like you Striker(Ade) last season was so bad so you bought a world class finisher in Soldado, you realised your Midfielders aren't the best so you signed a box to box midfielder in Paulinho (who is a Great player IMO) and Capoue (who is an player we were also linked with and I wish we got)

The difference at the moment is that you are willing to pay that little bit more to get the players you want whereas we are cheap stakes and offer far less than the valuation and try to get players to force a move.

We are pathetic ATM and I'm certain you will finish above us this season.

GoodLuck for the season!

Told u a few months ago. give levy time and he will deliver. have faith. he ain't silly . now wit these signings and maybe willian/lamela. we are going for the title. I might be dreaming. but so far so great signings. and bale who. top man avb.levy. have faith. WATFRTLANE.YIDADE

Gooners must be sick of seeing us spend money and investing heavily in our squad.

Whereas they're yet to spend a penny lol.

I'm sure that'll change soon though. But still. as you would say on the playground.our team is better than yours :P {Ed008's Note - They'll start panic buying whilst theirs a thought process behind the signings Spurs are making.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I agree Ed008. The Arsenal fans are giving Wenger no option but to panic buy. Their impatience will make them sign the wrong players.

Agree0 Disagree0

And all we'll get when we finish above them is “look at how much money you had to spend to do it whinge whinge.

Agree0 Disagree0

Oh how I'd like to see us beat RM in the CL next season while Bale and Rat Boy sit on the bench. Poetic justice. Lots of games to be played before that happens though, but I can dream.

Agree0 Disagree0

Arsenal will huff an puff for the next 2 weeks about who they are going to bring in, then won't get them! and sign some dodgy last minute panic buys on the last day.

basically the same as last year then.

If before the transfer window you would have told me we would lose Bale but bring in:

Coentrao
Paulinho
Chadli
Capoui (forgive the spelling)
Soldado

Then I would have been over the moon.

The prospect of either Willian or Lamela or if we dream then both makes me giggle like I little girl!

Ed can you see us realistically bringing in both like a lot of sources are reporting? {Ed008's Note - I can't say whether I think it'll happen cause people will jump to conclusions an offer was made to William likely to be accepted, Lamela is complicated theirs interest hard to say if both will happen.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

With lamela willian and eriksen all tragets and bale seemingly gone, EDS are spurs looking to bring in all 3 or just 1/2 and is all three a possibility?

Would love to see a midfield 3 of lamela eriksen and willian play behind soldado {Ed008's Note - An offer has been made for William likely to be accepted, don't think Erikson will happen and Lamela or even Pjanic are possible.

Where did you lot go missing when 55m was thrown at Downing and Carroll! In all seriousness you can just have top 4 if Lamela and Willian sign. It's over :--(

Say we do manage to sign Lamela, would that mean the end for Lennon? he's used to first team football and might prefer to start elsewherethan warm the bench.

I think a lot of praise needs to go to baldini. Only been at the club a few weeks but you can tell he is very respected around the world by agents chairmans and players.
He I proving to be one of the best dof that we have had.
I am still holding back my views on mr levy until the end of the window as a lot has for to do with the bale deal.

Anyone else realise that it's so easy to make a rumour look semi-believable?

Reports have been flying around local media networks in London that Spurs are mounting a late challenge to sign Baker Street Full back Penfold. The experienced player was quoted as saying "Crikey!" when he heard an offer had been been made. When several fans asked Penfold to stay, he could only answer, "Oh crumbs" as he sped off to speak with his advisors. Serveral of Europe's top clubs we said to be monitoring the situation of Penfold who would prefer to stay in London, making Spurs the ideal choice. Liverpool who were said to be the closest rivals for his signature will now turn their attention to AFC Emmerdale wing-back Marlon Dingle in order to fill the void following injury to popular Liverpudlean Sinbad.

And that my fellow spurs fans, is how Newspapers work. (and yes, it's slow at work today. )

Rumours that Lamela' father/agent and ROma sporting director are in London to thrash out a deal with Tottenham for his transfer, what a fantastic signing this would be! young, talented and would most defiantly provide us with the best possible replacement for Madrid bound Bale, add to this Eriksen and a CB and Contreao (from the Bale Deal) and we have a team and squad to challenge this season!. Just hope if Lamela is to join that we end our pursuit of Willian who IMO is massively overrated.

First XI would IMO be :

Lloris,

Walker, Vertonghen, Kaboul/New CB, Contreao

Sandro, Paulinho

Dembele, Eriksen, Lamela

Soldado

Subs - Friedel, Naughton, Defoe, Lennon, Capoue, Siggy, Chadli.

Europa and Domestic Cups XI -

Friedel,

Naughton, Dawson, New CB/Kaboul, Rose

Capoue, Caroll

Lennon, Siggy, Chadli

Defoe.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Looks like you've forgotten holtby. a lot of people have idk why.

Agree0 Disagree0

Wont be surprised to see Capoue in front of Sandro . have a feeling Sandro needs protecting from further injuries and will be used to back up Capoue.

Will-I-An maybe a little overprice but looking at the bigger picture if the rumours are true we would of done some great business this year. Best in my life time anyway. COYS

Believable0 Unbelievable0

While DL is in the spending mood can we please have Messi to finish the puzzle . What a transfer window . what's the chances Ed? {Ed008's Note - I'd say the chances of Messi joining the club are unlikely but wouldn't rule it out..

Agree0 Disagree0

Levy, AVB and Baldini are delivering on just about everything a spurs fan could have realistically asked for. Now the pressure will be on AVB to make something of the players he has at his disposal and deliver trophies, not just a Top 4 position. I for one hope he does it and is rewarded for delivering the success we all crave . Glory Glory Days are achievable for the first time in a long time at WHL.

Agree0 Disagree0

Thanks Ed I will go and put a £5 on it -not . Have a good one and please keep up the great work . {Ed008's Note - Thanks

Agree0 Disagree0

Ive written on here before my dream is to see spurs win the league before I pop off, I was 60 yesterday and looking at the signings, am beginning to wonder how long I've got cause if we can't challenge for league with this squad I really will have to live till i'm 160 ha ha barb.

I love that we have brought in and are continuing to look at top class talent now, but as much as I love spurs signing world class players earlier in the transfer window, there's still a part of me that's going to be slightly disappointed come deadline day at midnight when there's no coming from Spurs lodge. Having said that, knowing Levy, it wouldn't surprise me if he still had a surprise up his sleeve.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Arsenal fan here in as much peace as is possible.

You guys are doing phenomenal business this summer. If you do sign Willian and Lamela then I assume Bale is offski. Even so your team is going to be right up in the mix at the end of the season while we struggle along to 6th if we are lucky.

It pains me to say it but well done chaps. Enjoy and well done Levy.

Line Up after Sept 2nd

Lloris

Walker
Kaboul
Vertonghen
Rose

Dembele
Sandro
Paulinho

Lamela
Soldado
Willian

Subs:

Friedel
Dawson
Naughton
Holtby/Capoue
Chadli
Lennon
Defoe

This can be a VERY real posibility. Let's hope so!

In Levy I Trust.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Very expensive wages for a bench like that let alone a first team. Just tot up the wages. wow!

Agree0 Disagree0

Siggy don't even make the bench anymore Dave!

It is possible, but I do believe only 1 of Willian or Lamela will be signed, and that will (there or abouts) even the books.

But very optimistic none the less!

Agree0 Disagree0

You have missed off Adebayor (who is on mega wages) as well as Townsend off the list

Agree0 Disagree0

I still wouldn't rule out Contreao and another CB. If we only go for one of Willian or Lamela rather than both, I'd expect another striker too with Adebayor looking increasingly likely to go to Turkey or maybe Al Aly. But if both Willian AND Lamela are signed, then maybe a CB and that'll be it.

Sure as the sun doth shine, by the close of the transfer window, we will sign Damiao and Levy will announce our new plans to move into the Olympic Stadium by the end of the winter transfer window. Not the Oracle

Sorry, the conversion was just missing something this year

Was highly impressed by Capoue the other day when he came on and I think the addition of him and paulinho gives us a bit of a conundrum in midfield.

We have so many top quality players (Sandro, Capoue, Paulinho, Dembele) who can play in the holding two we seem to be deploying at the moment. Which makes me think we need to change formation to accomidate more of these players.

I don't however believe that Chadli Soldado Lennon is quiet strong enough in an attacking 3 if we were to switch to a 4, 3, 3. Having said that Lamela, Soldado, Willian looks immense.

What are peoples thoughts on who should occupy midfield and what formation we should play?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I would say if we get lamela, willian and contreao and bale departs then 4-3-3 as below.

Lloris
Walker
Daws/Kaboul
SuperJan
Contreao
Paulinhio
Sandro/Capoue
Dembele
Lamela
Soldado
Willian

Spurs will have wasy too many midfielders if Willian and Lamela sign.

The LIST -

Dembele
Paulinho
Willian
Capoue
Chadli
Holtby
Lamela
Sandro
Lennon
Sigurdsson
Townsend

Normall6 6/7 midfielders is enough, no point paying ££££s on wages and keeping people out of the squad as there aren't enough places on the bench

I would expect some movement out as 11 potential first tea midlfielders is way too much.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

And carroll

Agree0 Disagree0

I do agree that we have a lot of midfielders, but you have included in this wingers aswel, Townsend, Chadli & Lennon.

We missed out last year because of the strength in depth, Sandro being injured almost destroyed our midfield. So the depth is key.

I can't see us buying both Willian & Lamela, even if it is with Bale money, I'm sure we will more or less break even for the window as a whole.

I think we will mould into a 4-3-3 very well, and Holtby & Sigs may find a lot of time on the bench. Then you're looking at 4 cms in 3 spaces (Dembele, Paulinho, Sandro/Capoue) with Holtby cover.

Maybe a loan move for Carroll, who I am a big fan of just can't see him getting time, we even look very competitive for cups with a second team.

Agree0 Disagree0

Chelsea have 11 midfielders, man city have 13, and utd have 10 and still looking to sign another one or two.

with most teams playing 5 mids with one up front, 6 or 7 mids wouldn't be worth a s**t over the season.

a big squad is key if we want to compete on all fronts, that's why we struggled at the end of last season. with injuries and suspensions, there were some matchs we had the bare 11 with nothing on the bench that could come on and change a match.

i think if we sign Lamela and willian with contreao, and bale goes that will be us pretty much good to go for the season.
COYS

Agree0 Disagree0

Absolutely bang on. For the past 4years we've easily had a top 4 TEAM but have missed out twice and fallen short in cups because we don't have a top 4 SQUAD.
AVB wanted to compete in Europa League latter stages and go for top 4 and we were too thin and missed out on both.

I hate Spurs so much! Lamela and Willian! That's just being greedy in my opinion lol. I want the old Spurs back. The one that used to buy Bentley for 15m not those two diamonds!

A very sad LFC fan :-(

Believable0 Unbelievable0

There was a little role reversal when Carroll & Downing come around!

That being said, there is a very good project going on your way now, definitely be a good fight for the spots this year.

It should be noted that if Willian and Lamela do sign and Bale does leave, then Spurs fans owe a huge debt of gratitude to Bale.
Apart from a few players leaving, Bales transfer fee will have single handedly funded the purchasing of Capoue, Paulinho, Soldado, Willian and Lamela. His huge transfer fee has given Spurs the money to build a title contending side, which deserves some Kudos in my opinion.
I just hope if he does leave that Spurs will realise the positives his transfer will have on the club.
Something to think about anyway.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Sorry your maths is well out. That little lot has cost Spurs £115m.

Bale will be going for around 80-90m

Agree0 Disagree0

Thank you for delving into semantics, no name poster.

The club has generated around 20m from outgoings, and will probably generate another 20m by the end of the deadline but predominantly, Bale's transfer has freed up the finances to purchase all the above. 'predominantly' anyway :-)

In Lehmann's term, just for you ;-), Spurs wouldn't have been able to afford 'all' the above players without selling Bale.

That was my point, but thank you for doing the calculations for me. Like the Eds say, don't get tied up in the numbers.

So, Rumours coming out of Russia suggest we have all but signed Willian. Rumours coming out of Italy claim that Walter Sabatini is in London do discuss the finer details of the tansfer of Lamela. Both rumoured at 30m. I think signing one will be a major statement of intent considering what we've already spent this summer. Signing both (which I can't really see happening) Would be a warning sign to others in the league. I feel if we sign both of these players, then it'll be curtains for Lennon. We need another CB then I really think we can push on from here. {Ed004's Note - I honestly think this shows Bale if off maybe its me being a rival fan but when have spurs ever spent over 100 million in a window and reports of 90 mill and Coentrao being accepted if true I see spurs as title potentials as you have a very strong team and squad now}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I agree Ed, it could spell the end of Bale as we do not spend this level of money, especially if we're looking at raising funds for a new stadium. But I think I speak for a lot of spurs fans to say thanks for the belief. If we can bed the new signings in, with or without Bale, if we get Willian and Lamela, we could be definite title contenders. A team of:
Lloris
Walker, Kaboul, Dawson, Contreao
Paulinho, Sandro
Lamela, Willian, Chadli
Soldado

Freidel
Rose
Dawson
Caopue
Lennon
Siggurdson
Defoe

It's great strength in depth and a squad good enough to challenge on all fronts. {Ed008's Note - You missed Vertonghen and Dembele!?!?

Agree0 Disagree0

I meant to put Vertonghen in the starting line-up. We only have one Dawson. And possibly put Willian out left, Chadli on the bench for Siggy and Dembele in the middle. It's a good job you're here Ed.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Aug 2013 11:29:22
As a Liverpool fan it seems that we have very similar thoughts on Willian.

He is overpriced if the other team get him or world class of he chooses us.

Personally believe that he is too expensive but in such a transfer window that price can be seen as right. I reckon there are better players for less but I imagine like yourselves would be ecstatic we're he to join.

He's also messing with us on twitter and Instagram.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

20 Aug 2013 00:01:18
I'm beginning to think that Spurs don't even want Willian. With the reports tonight that Liverpool are haggling over the price suggests there too confident. Apparently you lot haven't even bid! I think you lot are going to sneak Lamela and Willian is just as a cover up. Anyway I think Liverpool and without doubt Spurs after there transfers are going to surprise a lot of people this season! By the way from a Liverpool fan if Spurs sign Lamela added to their other business they should be aiming for the league!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I doubt we will sign 2 players at around 30m each . I'd like to believe it might happen but just don't see it.

Agree0 Disagree0

Cheers mate good luck to you lads two I think we are both in for good season and I would proffer lamela over willian any way COYS
