What do you guys think of Guarin coming to spurs?

Do you rate him? Is he the kind of player we need?

Personally I think it's a waste of time when we stil have Parker, Huddlestone and Livermore on our books. Out of the three, two players need to be sold before we even think about signing a Central Midfielder. With the rising young prospects in Carroll and Ceballos I just don't see any reason to strengten in that department unless the player being brought in is World class. I don't think Guarin is of that calibre.

Ganso on the other hand tiggles my fancy.

Gabriel.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I thought he looked great for porto but his time in Italy has dogged with injuries & he hasn't really replicated anything like he is capable of at inter, he's also lost his place in Colombia national team to McNallyTorres ( very good player),
Guarin would be a risk at price quoted & probably best left alone

Agree0 Disagree0

I've always been a Hudd supporter but even I have to accept now he's not going to develop into the player we thought he might and in fact seems to be going backwards, on the occasions he did play last season (especially Chelsea away) he repeatedly gave the ball away in his own half which is a bit of a draw back for a holding midfielder! Of the other 2 I'd prob keep Parker although he's most likely to go as will want regular first team football. Spur67

Agree0 Disagree0

Spurs 67,

I am also a Huddlestone fan, but he hasn't played much football for a long time and I have doubts about his fitness.

Someone on this site recently said that he has chronic degenerative problems in his ankles. That worries me. He has always tended to pile on the weight when not in full training and if he has these problems then we may never see him really fit again. We don't need another Ledley King (unless it is someone as great as he was).

I fear Huddlestone will never be fit enough, often enough, to fulfil his potential so it is time to say goodbye.

KM

Agree0 Disagree0

Dear KM,

Unfortunately I think you're right. It's sad to say as Hudd probably has more natural ability in either foot than most other players but, fitness has always been an issue, his genetics are against him (pace isn't essential but he makes Corluka/Charlie-Slow look like Usain Bolt) and he's not just slow but often cumbersome.
We can maybe accommodate him in Europa League games and certain fixtures but that isn't an ambitious state to be in.

I heard a long time ago his ankle was 'Ledley-esque' and given he's hardly played/been fit in over a year and, that there were further rumours he failed medicals to move last season, then I think we need to accept he's been as good as he'll ever be and time to move on.

Still early. Give it a month and let's see idlf we do any business. I think all the rumours and players linked with us are smoke screens. I think the players we are looking to bring in are the players not mentioned. let's wait and see. I'd guess and say players from the prem like Newcastle etc may be our targets
Mr g

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Players from Newcastle? Maybe cabaye but that's about it. Still nice to see Daniel levy posting even if under mrG

Oscar Cardozo would be a good buy, he would suit the premiership.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

He really is world class, I just wished he was a tad younger

Agree0 Disagree0

Why would he come here

Agree0 Disagree0

For the weather?

Paulinho is average, much rather a deal for Bernard, boy looks class, any movement or news on his possible going anywhere ed?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Minero want €25mill for him, it's a lot of cash but if he continues to develop there will be massive re sale value for mr levy! I personally think he's worth the cash, Bernard and Soldado I would be more than happy with those two. £40 mill the pair would be good business after all we paid £16 for Bentley!!

Agree0 Disagree0

Would be very very very happy if spurs signed Saldado and Bernard. I think saldado is the most underated striker out there and would fit our style of play perfectly.

That Jon obi Mikel is shocking, let's hope the chavs keep him. He wouldn't even get in our u15s team.

Anyone else wonder how dodgy it is for the Spanish royal family to want to spend 85 mill + on a single player, whilst their country rolls around in financial turmoil? We'd have to take that money I'm afraid, and then reinvest in world class players, or goodbye Champions League dreams, hello Johnstone Paints Trophy

Believable0 Unbelievable0

How do you expect us to sign world class players if we go and sell the current 3rd best footballer in the world.

He alone is the reason we'll be turning heads because players will want to play with him.

I think you need to open your eyes a little bit mate.

Gabriel.

Agree0 Disagree0

Totally agree with you Gabriel, we need Bale not only for his talent but also for the fact other players want to play alongside him!
My only worry is, if Levy f**ks AVB about over transfers then AVB will go and so will Bale!

Agree0 Disagree0

3rd best player in the world ha yours are really a bunch of daftys if you think monkey boy is the 3rd best player in the world I could name you a to ten in the world and your monkey boy Bale wouldn't be in the top ten. The British media has done I right good job in convincing yous persons he's that good. Go and check his stats and get back to me. he's mediocer at best, and yous think he's 3rd best in the world lol. Get a grip!!!

Scottybhoy 1888 YNWA

Agree0 Disagree0

Oi scouser, let me guess at least 3 loserpool players in that top 10?
2 of your players, yes 2 would get near our starting 11.
You ain't even the best in merseyside sonny jim.

Agree0 Disagree0

That's right scouser he's average at best. I mean it's not like his fellow Epl players decided he was best in the league last year or that the FA decided he was the best player in the league last year or a midfielder who scored nearly as many goals as your top scorer who is a striker. On top of that you got these mugs called Real Madrid who would happily pay 80+ million for him. Suppose they are only a average side so will fall for the media hype.
Jealousy will get you nowhere

Agree0 Disagree0

Hey tim, you don't have a player at celtic park to equal bale, so dinny talk garbage,

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes average at best lads you want me to name ten better players than bale easy.

1. Messi
2. Ronaldo
3. Falcao
4. Zlatan Ibrahimovic
5. Suarez
6. RVP
7. Inesta
8. Xavi
9. cavani
10. Ken augreo

I could have maybe got a top twenty without your extra from plant of the apes in there. you's compare him to Ronaldo really? go check Ronaldo's stats at 23, miles apart. Bale plays in a team that depends on him more than we depend on Luis, that's why he's had a decent year can you really see him shinning in a team full of worldies? If madrid give you's the 85 million your expecting I would tear there hand off and run to the hills laughing. Think how much better that kind of cash would make your team, that's saying levey gives AVB it all to spend which I really can't see happening. Your heading for mid table lads get used to it, while the mighty reds of merseyside shoot up the league under BR. we won more cups last year than yous have in the last decade and that's us in a transition period, must be a great laugh being a spud ha.

Scottybhoy 188 YNWA

Agree0 Disagree0

Scottybhoy is 100% right about Bale. Hugely overrated.

I have forwarded his post to Real Madrid, Paris St Germain and Manchester United so they don't waste any more of their time on him.

KM

Agree0 Disagree0

Boy the scousers are jealous! I am surprised he didn't name Carroll, Henderson, Shelvey in that top ten. Still must be difficult to dream of having a player of Bales class in their team, must also be difficult to understand that they are not even the best team on merseyside anymore. Scottyboy, turn on your DVD player and remember the good times, because it will be a good few years before they come around again. What was it 11 points?

Agree0 Disagree0

Guess who's never watched Bale play. Funny how Suarez was on that list but not Bale. Remind me how many individual awards Suarez won last year?
Typical jealous Liverpool fan.

Agree0 Disagree0

Scotty that mid table mediocracy you say we are heading for, that would be the same mid table mediocracy you have been sitting in for years would it?
When did you last finish above us?
When Suarez goes you will finish even lower.
I'm getting neck ache just thinking about his far down we would have to look to see loserpool.
Bye bye spotty bhoy.

we had better have some top players lined up, i'm getting worried that we are being linked to a lot but no concrete news on any as yet, do you think we will spend big?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Transfer window hasn't even opened yet, they are still probably on their holidays no need to worry yet

Agree0 Disagree0

Not a chance!
Be lucky if we can find some bargains though

Agree0 Disagree0

Your positivity is refreshing reading every day davo.
FFS things aren't always as bad as you think they are.

Agree0 Disagree0

Are you joking? Do you know 'tight fist' levy is our chairman?

Agree0 Disagree0

You are aware Levy has spent good money in the past right? The only thing that has highlighted his inability to spend is the lack of strikers over the past few years.
Nobody seems to moan when he holds out for big money when selling a player.
Lloris, vert and Dembele seems like a good transfer window to me. Add to that the great business in signings like Fryers and Holtby. Had we added a decent striker to that I can't see where the problem would've been. Feel free to enlighten me.

Agree0 Disagree0

The point is we didn't add any striker at all to that and were always a suspension, an injury, an ACN and a dip in form away from having no options at that end of the pitch. Bale's change of role and exceptional goal form was timely, without it we would've been 6-7th, supplementing it in anyway and we would've been 3rd-4th comfortably. It was a huge mistake and we saw it last January, last August and again this January.
Simmo

Agree0 Disagree0

You second last sentence answered that! A good Striker! We all new we needed one, for the fourth year in a row!
It also seems that it's not only me who gets pissed off with old tight arse!

Agree0 Disagree0

Oh, one extra thing. It was good transfer business with those three yes, but if he had sorted out the striker we wouldn't have had to dredge the barrel and end up with Dempsey!

Agree0 Disagree0

Gregorz raziak, Andy booth and frazer Campbell where scraping the barrel davo.
I'm not a Dempsey fan but I think he deserves more credit thn in your last post. He scored some very vital goals last season and without those goals, our season would of been over long before the final game of the season.

Agree0 Disagree0

But Levy did buy a striker, wasn't his fault that the striker in question decided to have the year off. Also Ade was supposed to have quit international football so ACN shouldn't have been a problem.
You comment that without Bales goals we would've come 7/8th but if Ade had shown his form from the season before we would've easily come 3/4th.
On top of that we apparently have very promising youth players up front and would've been a good time to see what they were capable off but AVB chose not to try them but you don't ever mention that fact. Pointing all the blame at levy is easy but look at the table over last few years we have improved in the time he's been incharge. Perhaps you'd prefer Alan sugar back?

Agree0 Disagree0

Also, yes Levy brought us a striker, why, because he was an original expensive buy, being sold dirt cheap because of the baggage that came with him!

Agree0 Disagree0

We all have our opinions about Dempsey and yes he scored goals but is still a mid table club player! Couldn't see Everton, Chelsea, s***ty, Man U, Real Madrid etc queuing up to buy him but tight arse in his last minute wheeler dealing did. As for Ade, every arsenal, s***ty, and Spanish fan noticed that when he wanted something he played well and got on. As soon as he got want he wanted, that was it and he proved this season, that his motivator is money and always will be!

If BAE is leaving (which I really hope he is) then Samuel Umtiti would be worth trying to get in. The boy is a machine and will get up and down the pitch all day long, not to mention that left peg of his that we all witnessed at WHL.

Thoughts?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Good shout, Thought he had lennon in his pocket in that game. Personally I'd prefer Bruno Martins Indi bcoz he can play both cb + lb, with indi + rose you'd have 1fb more defensively minded & 1 more attacking minded, would leave us with better options depending on opposition.
Luca Antonelli of Genoe would b worth a punt, pace to burn & good defensively & attacking probably cost between 5-7ml
Espur

Agree0 Disagree0

Umtiti can play as CB as well, covered there for Lyon before and his position is listed as CB/LB.

Antonelli looks a good player as well, first and foremost whoever we get needs to be strong defensively and preferably good going forward as well and the 2 lads mention are certainly good at both

It's not on, get them sorted out Daniel!

Does anyone think that Ever Banega from Valencia is worth a punt at the reported fees being put about that Sot'on have bid just £7.6m, he's got to be worth a look at, at that price. DL needs get Soldado signed now as well.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Totally, I love watching Banega & think he's better than modric, when everyone was on there moutinho love-in Banega was the 1 I wanted, It's a pity about his drinking issues but he still does it on the pitch, but ledley was fond of a drink or two & he always delivered on pitch too. Banega & soldado would b perfect for us.

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Jun 2013 09:53:29
Ok, with ZZ and Modrat doing their best to talk Bale into handing in a transfer request and PSG after our manager and Bale, this could potentially be a very devastating close season for us. I hope that neither do leave, now I think that most would agree it is obvious that if AVB leaves then Bale will also follow maybe not to PSG but IMO he will go. I am not trying to be a pessimist, but if AVB does leave we would we all want in charge, not sure there are many quality managers available, But with a pontential £100m for an incoming manager to spend hopefully that would attract someone of the quality we need to kick on.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Even if we make £90-100m+ on them both leaving it will not be spent!
Levy is more than likely looking at who we can sell this summer from the likes of Hudd, BAE, Livermore/Parker, Gomes etc to make £15m ish, maybe with plans to spend £15-20m on a striker. That shrinks the wage bill, is cost neutral on fees and 'shuts us up' about a new striker.
If AVB and Bale leave, he'd get a new manager for 'free' (he'd never pay a release clause to anybody) and buy 3-4 players with around £50m worth of spend that may even include the money made from sales. Net result is that we get 3-4 players in for Bale plus 4-5 squad players going out, we swap managers, the wage bill stays similar and there is £40-60m that goes into the coffers.
Whoever sees it being a case of; we sell £100m+ worth of players and manager then Levy let's a new manager spend it all on 4 x £25m signings is in for a disappointment.
Simmo

Agree0 Disagree0

Levy values Bale closer to 200m than the 90 that your suggesting.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'd be surprised if Bale went for £80m, seems steep in my opinion. Would probably leave for around £60m if he does. If Levy does value him at 200m then he's deluded.
