Ed, could you please explain the big push to get everyone to register? Surely the eds don't feel the ones who don't wish to register are unworthy of their opinion on this site? (Serious question not trying to start an argument)

I'll leave a "sign off" so you don't need to put up the whole post. Just post a response to the name would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance
Dan {Ed001's Note - because we get a lot of people pretending to be others to make them look like idiots. Without a way of being sure it is them, there is no way for us to be sure, so we end up with people whining about someone else making them look a fool. Then we have extra work dealing with the whines and trying to find and delete the false posts.}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

LOL like we need help to make ourselves look stupid sometimes.

Agree0 Disagree0

Fair enough ed as I'm sure you guys have enough to do (especially deadline day lol) it's just a shame you get people who ruin it for everyone.

Dan
{Ed008's Note - We can't force you to register but it would help us a lot if you did to prevent trouble and trolls etc

Agree0 Disagree0

That's right Ed, you can't for me to do nothing! I'll never regis. oh. {Ed008's Note - Hahaha! Thanks Dom

Agree0 Disagree0

We are being forced on other teams pages and I fear it'll happen on the spurs site. For me I don't agree with it being forced as it should be an option but I do understand why you feel it's necessecery.

Cheers Dan. {Ed008's Note - Like I said it's an option we tried it on Liverpool page and it worked very well it's helping us takes like 2 mins to sign up have an "official" sign in.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes ed I understand it's easy and respect yours and other eds decision on this. Unfortunately I'm not that technically up to date and giving up my email address is something I've stopped doing unless completely necessary and don't like/understand "cookies" so stay clear of this best I can.

The end of the day it's easy to do as you've said and if I choose not to and it becomes mandatory then it's my loss unfortunately.

Dan {Ed008's Note - That's fine Dan we understand your concerns feel free to keep posting.

anyone else think siggy is under-rated? he's been great and was great vs espanyol- if he shoots more he'll be dangerous
also, chadli's impressed me-good solid player + flai

would love lamela and to sell bale now whilst we get a great deal from madrid- hopefully including coentrao

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Sig definitely under-rated. He came on well at the end of the season, nicks the odd goal, works hard, decent touch, beats people. Great squad player and fine in the first XI whenever required.
Simmo

Agree0 Disagree0

Supplied the crosses to Paulinho that was disallowed and that resulted in Rose being upended at the weekend. Certainly has a role in the squad and continues to improve as hs confidence in his role improves.

Ed's there's reports going around that Bale will miss the first game of the season due to a broken leg which occurred during training. I can't seem to find any confirmed reports of this from spurs site. Do you's have any info or can you confirm the reports? {Ed002's Note - You probably need to check with Twitter.}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Lol first game with a broken leg broken legs take more than 1 few weeks to mend, its rubbish anyway

Agree0 Disagree0

No that Spanish reporter he shook hands with kicked him cause he wouldn't say he was going to RM. Did a Charlie Adams on his left peg.

Hi eds

With the imminent sale of hudds, Parker and Livermore(loan) would be looking at a potential move for cabay? Also do you know of Any potential new strikers we are keen on signing? Cheers {Ed008's Note - You mean Cabaye? I doubt it with Sandro,Paulinho,Dembele,Holtby,Sigurdsson,Carroll and the expected arrival of Capoue.

I hope with Huddlestone left, & potentially losing Parker & Livermore we won't be left a bit light. I really do hope that there will be a few decent signing coming to the Lane. Who is really destined to come? I can't wait for the Bale affair to be dealt with & finished so we can prepare for what could be an important year in the next stage of AVB's revolution. I was at the game on saturday & was pretty impressed especially after our performance against Monaco. Great to see the return of Sandro & Kaboul. Fryers looked strong at centre back in the 1st half. I (like many others) really hope that this is the year that we really push on & prove to be genuine title contenders - we 're now getting a great pool of players. I'm really hoping that Tom Carroll will get his chance to shine this season- may be the case especially with Huddlestone gone, with Livermore & Parker also potentially on their way. He looked good last night in his cameo as a sub vs scotland u21s & his goal was stunning. It would be great if he can stake his claim to a place but how in our midfield, what with Paulinho, Sandro & Dembele infront of him in the queue. There's bound to be some transfer activity soon - wonder what players Levy, AVB & Baldini have got under their magicans' top hat. COYS

Quite sad to see Thudd leave for Hull. He was a decent player, just never got the chance to cement a first team position.

But good luck to him at Hull, he'll be a great signing for them!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

He had quite a lot of chances, despite some bad injury problems. Technically a brilliant player and a real shame he never truly kicked on to be a top-notch regular quarterback type playmaker. Was certainly never consistent enough to overcome his lack of pace and mobility. Disappointed it never really worked out how it could with him, I wish him well.

Just noticed he played about 200 games in 8 years, says it all really.

Really think/hope the next few days are going to be exciting for the lilywhites in terms of signings especially with Huddlestone gone, with Parker & Livermore potentially on their way too. But at the same time aren't we going to be a bit light losing 3 good squad members? I hope we won't be disappointed by the time of the transfer window shutting. Hope the Capoue transfer will be tied up soon. I really hope that Tom Carroll gets game time, given a chance & will prove to be a great player. He definitely looked good coming on as a sub for the u21s against Scotland. Who are the genuine contenders/signing to venture to NI7 & become part of AVB's blue & white army revolution. We really looked good at the weekend against Espanoyl. I'm really hoping like many others that this will the big season/push to glory(with or without Bale). COYS

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I still think we'll sign another winger. Atsu or Lamela.

I can also see us signing one more centre back, seeing as we've lost Gallas and Caulker this season.

I can't see us getting Eriksen. Where will we play him? We already have attacking midfielders in Dembele, Siggy, Holtby and Carroll.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think Eriksen would be a better player than both Holtby and Siggi, maybe not as hard working but more flare, Also better than Carroll at the moment even tho' Carroll has huge potential could do with more game time or a loan spell (Watford have been mentioned)

Agree0 Disagree0

Apart from Dembele, Eriksen would pass these other three with his eyes shut! If the price is right, grab him quick!

I think its fair to assume that Bale will not be a spurs player much longer, no source just my gut feeling, but I don't know if it will make much difference if we sign the targets we are linked with. Now bear with me on this before you all shoot me down, yes Bale is a fantastic player but if we play
4-2-3-1, Bale would most certainly play in the middle of the attacking 3 mids, now as much as Bale is a match winner with his fantastic goals and taking on players, when teams doubled up on him we struggled to break teams down, because despite all his qualities he cannot unlock tight stubborn defences when being doubled up on.

Without Bale, if we do get our targets (so as Eriksen) our 3 attacking mids would more then likely be Eriksen, Dembele and Chadli with Lennon, Siggy and Townsend all suitable replacements. IMO this 3 would provide more then enough to unlock stubborn defences as all 3 players can pick out that unseen pass. The 2 defensive mids for me pick themselves, with Paulinho and Sandro, with Capoue and Holtby providing good cover (Holtby to play in the front 3 and Dembele dropping back). Soldado will play the lone striker and IMO will bag a fair few goals for us, would like to see another good striker come in as not sure if Ade and Defoe are good enough or commited enough. Our back 4 IMO needs adding to, 3 our the starting 4 pick themselves currently, with Walker, Kaboul and Vertonghen all pretty much nailed on starters, AVB seems determined to give Rose a chance, but after watching him in pre season I not completely convinced he is good enough for what we are trying to do at WHL and if I'm honest I not 100% on Kaboul either a whole season is a long time and we all know about dodgy knees, just look at poor Ledley, I think another top class CB would also be required. There seems to be money still available especially with the impending sales of Parker, Huddlestone and IMO Bale, if we can sign another LB, CB, AM and STK we will not even realise Bale has gone. Easier said then done I know, But there are players available within the price range out there for us to get.

LB - Everyone is going on about Contreao (Madrid) coming in as the last payment of the Modric Deal, which would be good financial business class player and no actually outlay. But if we are looking to spend money on a LB I would like to see a bid for Kolerov (ManC) available for around 8-10m

CB - Again people seem keen on the lad from Ajax (Toby Alderwien spelling) who seems available for about 8m but IMO that money would be better spent on the lad from Steau bucerest, looks a quality player at a very young age and for a similar amount.

AM - Everybody wants Erikson, who being in the last year of his contract will be available at a knock price, but bear in mind Ajax did turn down a bid of 18m not to long ago, another option would Viktor Ficher who could also provide an option up top. AVB seems keen on Willian, and as much as I trust AVB IMO Willian is not worth more than maybe 15m not the 35m being quoted about.

STK - Many of our targets seem to have gone, but I think we signed the best of the bunch in Soldado, but if something happens who can come in and grab the goals whilst he's out of the team. Damiao still seems to be lurking around, but I don't think he is worth the money being touted around. Who else is there, people are talking about Dzeko who would be fantastic, but I don't think ManC would sell him. IMO a cheeky bid for Henandez of Man United (spelling) would be a good shout, but not sure they would sell to us or if DL would even deal with them.

In short if we sell Bale, Parker and Huddlestone for the reported 90m - 95m and purchase, Contreao (for Modric payment), Erikson for 15m, The young Lad from Steau 9m and a striker for around 10m, that totals 34m spent plus the 60m(ish) already spent = a total outlay of 94m (ish) and a similar amount in and with the likes of Gallas, Bentley, Jenas, Parker, Huddlestone and other fringe players off the wage bill and the possibility of other players leaving like BAE, Naughton, Rose (if we sign another LB), Gomes and Livermore we could well see a vast improvement in the squad and still be in the black. Things are looking bright at the lane, long may it continue.

bale tells wales mates he will never wear a spurs shirt again. do you think this is true or is it the papers stirring it up as they also said that he had said "it wasnt time to talk yet" could all this be ouit of context or could it be an agreement has been made and that time is being bided so as to keep prices down, I hope he stays I really think we have a chance if he stays. don't get me wrong the signs are good anyway but better if he stays

derbyshire dave sorry will sign in {Ed008's Note - Why would he tell his Wales team mates? Who is the player he told and how comes the press know about it? Papers print false headlines surely its a private matter between Spurs and Real Madrid and himself.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Newspaper sales must've dropped since it all quietned down. I'd expect a similar story tomorrow about Suarez too.

have spurs not got a scouting system of their own every player that liverpool are linked with tottenham are in for the next day alderweireld contreo cissoko erikson llori papadopolis erikson atsu to name a few last season was siggurdson and dempsey who has proved that they didn't really want him, was it just that liverpool enquired about him? {Ed008's Note - Alderwerield was a target before Liverpool were even interested along with Coentrao, I can't recall interest in Llori and Cissokho unless Ed002 mentioned it. You said Eriksen twice btw and their very good players clubs like Liverpool and Spurs would be interested just because Spurs were favoured when deciding which club to join. Aston Villa wanted Dempsey he turned them down..

Believable0 Unbelievable0

That's because we're REALLY REALLY "in for" Eriksen, Ed. Spurs do have their own scouting Network, and it functions very effectively in case you hadn't noticed.

Agree0 Disagree0

Spurs were linked with Suarez before you as well as Carroll and Downing. Win some and lose some.

Watching the u21's tease the Scotts. Great to see Tommy Carroll smash a goal in but what a player Ross Barkley looks! A young/trim rooney! Never likely to come to spurs but can always appreciate a class act and what a prospect.

I know I may get shot Down, and probably abused like the great man "oracle" but I've a sneaky suspicion Damiao will end up at Spurs before the 31st!
It's gone very quiet in his front, Napoli don't need him now, or Atletico Madrid! And not a chance in he he will go to Southampton ( no offence Saints fans )
Him and Soldado with Damiao learning his trade from the bench could be fantastic for us .

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I would have to think any striker coming in is contingent on ade or defoe leaving

RY

Agree0 Disagree0

He would cost a similar fee to Paulinho and I can't see us sitting a £15-20m player on the bench. And after seeing him play several times, I really don't think he is worth that sort of money or all of the hype. If we could get him for £8-11m then I would say go for it, but not double that.
