guys, I'm not a fan of pav, but what about giving him a starting place for wolves at whl? he is great when he can string some games together, and he's better suited physically to lead the line against city than defoe. What do you guys think for the striker against city?

No .... He's a let down ... I'm sorry but if we play pav .. Then Defoe will defo be pissed with us and request a move ... I would rather Defoe any day of the week ...

If you want someone big and powerful upfront, I'd rather have Gallas...

If we have to play someone big and powerful up front like Pav , then I would play Lennon ! Wants to play , can play , and would probably do 1000% better and be noticed !

But davo, Lennon is playing. He played last night and scored. And he's almost as bad physically as Defoe if you're talking about making him cf. I reckon another possibility if there's no new striker could be bale up front {Ed008's Note - We need to win! Playing wingers upfront don't win you games but it is a tough decision who to play up top cos Defoe is poor on his own up front but arguably the better striker than Pav.

Ed008, But this season Defoe has been on fire. why not give him the chance to run in and behind city's CBs? He is our top goalscorer this season in all competitions.

We have a real big chance to win against city with the players they are missing .... I just hope redknapp makes the right choice

My title challenging squad for next season, not saying this will happen, this is in response to some other posts seen:
Gk: Plenty of talent out there, personally like the look of ter-stegen, don't need to buy until summer at the earliest, love big brad but he's pretty old
Def: Need to sell bassong and possibly corluka (pref not till end of season). need to get in: Vertonghen. He is world class, and while samba would be amazing, he's not that step up
CM, no additions needed except promising youngsters prepared to sit on the bench (we're talking 17-20 year olds here, raw talent to be nurtured)
Wings: Difficult one. Positionally Hoillett is a decent shout but again not a truly world-class player (aside from anything else his defensive tracking back is awful). Krasic, Podolski (also as a striker - versatility is always good) Remy (see podolski) are all possibilities. Don't know too much about other players available on this front
Striker: To proove we mean business, it can only be Leandro. Others like Doumbia, P. Cisse, Sow and the aforementioned wingers/strikers could also be amazing. For some reason, I'm just not keen on demba ba, but would by no means be upset if he came in.
So this jan, we would need (ideal world)
Vert and Leandro (to have time to adjust while Ade is still the main focus) in
Bassong, Pav out
Then in the summer
Ter-stegen, rw cover, potentially another striker if Ade doesn't sign on a perm and naughton back to provide rb/lb cover, as well as caulker
Corluka, Gomes, various other fringe players out.
So finally, the starting 11 next season that would come about if this unlikely dream were to occer:
GK: Ter Stegen
Rb: Walker
CB: Kaboul
CB: Vert
Lb: BAE
RW: Lennon
Cm: Parker
CM: Modric
Lw: Bale
Cam: VDV
ST: Leandro
with a bench of Cudicini, Naughton, Caulker, Sandro, Krasic (or another like hoilett) Defoe and potentially another striker. End of essay :)

We need to add a world class player at either end of the pitch (CB and striker), if you look at the other top teams that's where we need to improve. Arsenal-=van persie, vermaelen, city=aguero, kompany utd=vidic, rooney. we need a striker who can dig us out of tough games and cb of real quality. i would suggest vertonghen now and (dream scenario) rossi in the summer if we have champs league. for now pav bassong pienaar and corluka out, and a new striker for competition

I have no ITK, but I just have a feeling that Beckham will sign for us by the end of Jan .... There is the whole training saga last year followed up by Harry's admirtation for him, add to this Levy's eye for a quick £ in shirt sales and now Harry waxing lyrical about Beckhams influence ..... I reckon its nailed on ... Anyone got any news ?

DEAR ORACLE, firstly you vermently attacked me and my information - which to date has only been correct. Secondly, your definate predictions of Cahill and Leandro Damio are starting to come undone (as Cahill signs for Chelski this afternoon!)
I told you 48 hours before it appeared in the press (when you pressed me for a name) that we were in discussions with OLM for Remy - it is still far from certain but now a relistic possibility. They are trying for Samba but with Bolton and QPR (plus one other side) in for him, Levy doesn't want a price war, so we are searching for other targets. This is urgent as Gallas & King are injured and Bassong wants out - we have made enquiries for both Tomkins & Alex. A long way to go yet in this one.......... The Mole
